1  Economy / Economics / Re: The Permanent Portfolio method by Harry Browne on: March 26, 2021, 12:55:40 PM
I don't like 50% of this conception.

25% Cash?? Why? Static cash is the sure way to lose value.
I agree it's good to have liquidity in a recession or crisis, but it's much better to keep that 25% in high-liquidity assets than cash.

it's hard to guess what are the other 25% I don't like Smiley The Gold.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Lightning Network challenge VISA someday? on: March 25, 2021, 09:11:11 PM
Thanks to the Lightning Network, it's now possible for Bitcoin to provide instant, cheap transfers to everyone. Adoption for the off-chain scaling solution is low, in part because of the LN's complexity. Now, imagine an scenario where the Lightning Network becomes heavily adopted by people in the mainstream world. It could threaten the existence of traditional payment processors as we speak. While I don't know how much TPS the Lightning Network is able to process, I'm pretty sure it's near close as VISA.

Do you think the Lightning Network will be able to challenge VISA someday? If not why? What if traditional payment processors like PayPal, VISA, and Mastercard decide to run a LN node in the future? Will this benefit Bitcoin in the long run or not? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Nope.

What is much more plausible is VISA to adopt crypto/stablecoins (which they are testing right now) and then to use your crypto on every VISA logo store/shop.

VISA is very pro-crypto and friendly.

3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Data suggesting more than 95% traders are losing on: March 25, 2021, 06:30:13 PM
95% is a too big number. The average % of losers is in the 70%-85% range.

FX/CFD brokers are obligated by law to have disclaimers like:

IG.com - "75% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading spread bets and CFDs with this provider."

Plus500.com - "76.4% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. "

and so on.

Trading is not a zero-sum game. Fees are eating a lot and when you add freed and incompetence, then the % is skyrocketing.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Tweets as Non-fungible tokens (NFT) - Dorsey's million dollar tweet on: March 25, 2021, 05:49:55 PM
Tweet as a NFT... the whole NFT mania is getting ridiculous.

I think that many of the 'artists' are pumping their creations with second wallets. This is also a perfect solution to come out with 'clean money'. I'm not buying it!
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's gonna buy Tesla using Bitcoin? on: March 25, 2021, 04:36:37 PM
Would you buy Tesla using your Bitcoin or you will wait to $100K?  Roll Eyes

I will keep my BTC because I find Bitcoin an asset while Tesla may be a cool car, but it's a liability. I cannot afford a $40k liability (still).

But a friend of mine is planning to be one of the first in the UK to buy a Tesla with Bitcoin. I will follow him to see how flowless the process is when this becomes possible.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin Price Prediction on: March 24, 2021, 04:16:42 PM
Now that DOGE is massively adopted by people in the mainstream world, I'm starting to wonder what the price per coin will be in the future? While you and I know that the odds of Dogecoin reaching astronomical levels in price are very low, anything could happen in this strange and bizarre world of crypto. With Elon Musk in the game, we might be closer to the moon than we've ever imagined. Tongue

What are your predictions for Dogecoin's price in the long term? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you Smiley

Sorry, but I don't see any DOGE mass adoption besides some hyping tweets.

My prediction is that one day Musk will get bored from the DOGE and we will see it again at 1/10 of the current price. I wouldn't put my money on anything that can be manipulated like this.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time Magazine: Will start to accept crypto for subscription on: March 24, 2021, 04:06:55 PM
...

Also Time Magazine is looking for a new CFO "comfortable with Bitcoin and Ethereum".

Time is like a dinosaur trying to chance. I'm not sure do they really embrace the change (and will change) or are using the hype around crypto for some free ads and headlines...
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla now accepts Bitcoin on: March 24, 2021, 03:19:56 PM
...
He also says that they will not convert the BTC to fiat.

This is the best part! Tesla will now build a bigger holding every day.

I'm curious how this is working from an accounting point of view to the yearly reporting? Are they assigning the dollar value on the day of the sale or?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NPXS] pundi x moon or doom ? on: March 21, 2021, 02:56:32 PM
After confirming that NPXS will be staked and have token reduction the price rose 130% in 2 days.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/pundix-npxs-surges-130-in-two-days-what-s-driving-the-rally

https://pundix.com/

I was really surprised to see PundiX back to life, especially with a dying High Street and sky-rocketing E-commerce.

It seems that people are biting again to every altcoin these days. I will pass to re-enter in PundiX.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The future of AME on: March 21, 2021, 02:42:47 PM
AME is promising 'VIP' staking right now with 1y locking and 150% APR.

As they are still having problems with other stakings and bounty programs, this sounds like a total exit-scam and I will pass for sure.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for Holders! on: March 21, 2021, 02:31:52 PM
The pandemic is not blessing for us but we have seen a huge change of Bitcoin price and broke all the records before. In this time of a year ago with compared to the present time, we can see a huge change and Bitcoin is up almost 1400%. Isn't it huge?

The next short term target is $60000. For now, next target is new ATH.

BITCOIN is for Hodlers
Not for weak hands
(I had read it somewhere, can't remember right now)

Recently read the list of coins now moved from 2011 is in record-high right now.

It so seems that the majority of people are true holders.

But I see Bitcoin and other cryptos most as money-making options with much greater APR than anything else (legal).
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power consumption propaganda? on: March 20, 2021, 08:38:02 PM
Would be interested to hear what the point of view is on a recent increase in press statements as follows: ‘Bitcoin may soon consume more power than Australia’— almost 10 times more than Google, Microsoft and Facebook combined.
Is there anything behind this or is it just another angle of attack against bitcoin prompted by remarks by Bill Gates?.....is it even possible to calculate consumption in this way?

Half-truths are the most dangerous.

Yes, this is partially true as PoW is a very energy consumption algorithm. At the same time, only the plugged standby chargers are using way more energy globally. [1]
Banks are eating even more, but nobody is demonizing the bank about their carbon footprint.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for Nigerian crypto enthusiast on: March 20, 2021, 08:25:21 PM
Good news for all Nigerian friends around!

It would be even better if the Indian Government realizes that those bans are not leading to anything good and abandon the Indian crypto ban project!

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: he pays 5000 € for a bitcoin transfer on: March 20, 2021, 02:39:52 PM

The fee's amount is crazy, but this transaction has more than 630 inputs!

The Fee per byte is close to average: 107.553 sat/B

I guess somebody combined a lot of old dust...
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank of America: It takes $93 million to move Bitcoin's price by 1%. on: March 20, 2021, 02:11:17 PM

I found BofA for wrong.

$93mn definitely could bend the orderbooks on one or two exchanges. But Bitcoin is a too complex market with spot, margin, futures, etc. To 'move' the price, you will have to split those $93mn in all exchanges overall trading instruments, and then I'm sure that this will dilute the money into the mass without changing the price.

This is possible on smaller coins, traded on fewer exchanges.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Has Bitcoin.com stopped presenting Bitcoin Cash as the real Bitcoin? on: March 20, 2021, 12:23:17 PM

I think so.

Now they are presenting the BCH as Bitcoin/Ethereum cheap (on fees) alternatives for everyday transactions, etc.

Neither way, BCH will stay behind.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin better than Fiat? on: March 19, 2021, 07:03:12 PM

As with everything else, it depends where and how you want to use it.

Is Bitcoin better than fiat for daily use? Nope and nope. Buy bread and butter with Bitcoin, or make your grandparents do it.

Is Bitcoin better than fiat as a store of value? Definitely yes.

Is Bitcoin better than gold as an investment? Currently, yes. In the future, maybe.

And so on, depending on the use case.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is now "too important to ignore", says Deutsche Bank [Today!] on: March 19, 2021, 03:05:17 PM

Yet, at the same time, the EU is preparing one of the strictest crypto regulations in the world.

If accepted, I think the EU will leave behind with crypto startups and later will apologize as it's now the situation with semi-conductors. Will see.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OGs: guys, lets just sell now, let the idiots buy at 60k LMAO! on: March 19, 2021, 02:30:52 PM
I for one am selling my 26 bitcoins and laughing at the buyers to be honest

When it climbs past $100k, who will be laughing at who?

Exactly. OGs will sorry.

I'm very cautious after Bitcoin passed $30k, but I think it will be way over $100k in the next 12 months due to all companies jumping on the train and more mainstream business adoption.
20  Other / Off-topic / Re: New laptops etc CPU's mother boards on: March 19, 2021, 01:14:00 PM

On the hardware level? I don't think so, especially on a corporate level.

On the software level? 100% every second trojan tries to access private keys and everything else with even a tiny value.
