361  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Can you get lower memclock with 6990's with a bios flash? on: February 17, 2012, 05:07:09 AM
I read that you could with 6970's. I really can't find any info about lowering 6990 memclock. I got one for free as an RMA through xfx of a bad 5970 and want to use it, but it's pissing me off that I can't lower the memclock past 750 with gpu clock at 830.

Has anyone figured out how to to get lower memclocks out of these?

Thanks.

Oh well, i guess i was wrong, i read that BAMT didn't work with cgminer, maybe they just mean it's not part of the original download which is fine. it didn't make sense to em either, but i fiugured it had something to do with some of the programming.

So i guess you just download BAMT and then download cgminer and you're all set?

what drivers and sdk does BAMT use?

I second a thread just for cgminer settings and what cards are being used.

I use I,9 and then just set memclock, fan and engine in my bash script for linuxcoin.

I'm still struggling to get my 5970's stable.

fan 100 engine 820 and me 410 seem best for me, but of course for wattage, I'd love a lower memclock.

Should I be using I 8, is that my issue? also i am on cgminer 2.0.7 because there is no way in hell i can do anything in linuxcoin without screwing it up and hate the full ubuntu OS, too difficult to work with IMO.

We need a new stripped down version of linuxcoin or call it whatever, just for mining and maybe built around optimal settings/set-up for cgminer. Seems BAMT doesn't supoort or work with cgminer.

My farm is up to 8 rigs 10 5970's, 8 5870's and 1 6990. I plan on building a water-cooled 4x5970 with 1500 watt psu. I have the stuff, but want to make sure I can get it set up as fast and stable as possible as it will be in a semi-remote location.

I know I need to figure out how to use ssh, etc. but I'd also like to have the best sdk, drivers, etc. along with some other folks settings for engine and memclock.

Can we start a cgminer optimization thread with some guides? I'll throw in a bounty of 10btc if it has a set up guide and an optimal settings database.

Just to conclude, the MSI 890FXA-GD70 with cpu and ram worked great and has been hashing away for days now.

Solid guy anyone interested in the rest of episking's stuff should buy it.

getting nothing now, not connecting properly again even with new port.
366  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ Bonus PPS Pool ] - Private Beta on: February 11, 2012, 09:24:12 PM
Running pretty sweet for me now and hashrate is much better. Also looking like fewer rejects with cgminer.

hey D&T, that would be great, i have bee seriously considering BAMT as linuxcoin is just getting too out of date and i am afraid to mess with it because i am finally stable, but i would love to upgrade my ati drivers and my cgminer since only 2.0.7 works for me in linuxcoin. I also can't stand linuxcoin's finickyness.  I also got a deal on some 6990's and am thinking BAMT with newest ATI drivers, etc. would be really helpful. i have a feeling linuxcoin is NOT going to like a 6990.

besides I'd prefer to work with a dedicated mining OS that is being supported and would be glad to donate to the developer.

Also, those statistical graphics look great.
368  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5870s with Eyefinity 209 at bens outlet on: February 08, 2012, 01:44:47 AM
It's a shame, I bought 8 of the 1gb and they have been rock solid for me mining at 950 on air with memclock 160.

One has a fan issue that won't allow me to manually control the fan but i fixed that with some creative extra fan positioning.

Anyway, must have gotten lucky, but 2gb will suck with extra power consumption.
369  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ 115% Bonus PPS Pool ] - Mining Opportunity on: February 05, 2012, 05:14:08 AM
me too, went to my other pool for now, getting too late to screw around with my rigs. I'll try again tomorrow. besides, payments should be happening right now. If they are okay i'll keep going.

I keep getting JSON errors.
370  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Anyone know which SDK linuxcoin final uses? on: February 05, 2012, 05:09:48 AM
I can't find the info anymore. I know it's Ubuntu 11.04 what AMD driver and SDK combo does it use?

was it 2.1 and 11.06 ?
371  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero Extreme Plus 2 Coolers on: February 05, 2012, 03:38:34 AM
Does it take up more than two slots including the card?

For example, I have 4 5970's on an asus p8p67 WS motherboard.Would all 4 cards still fit if I installed one of these on each of them?
372  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ 115% Bonus PPS Pool ] - Mining Opportunity on: February 04, 2012, 04:16:06 PM
Seems to be going well for me with about 5.5 GH/s pointed at this pool. If you use cgminer, it automatically reconnects after any intermittent shutdowns. Stales are also getting below 1% over last 24 hours. My accumulated payout look pretty decent right now in spite of all of the initial issues. So as long as I get paid on Sunday as Clipse says we will, I think this is a good opportunity for miners with bigger farms to point some decent hash and get a nice payday.

just my impression so far.

Received MSI 890FXA-GD70 with cpu and ram, quick shipping and easy to deal with. have not tested board yet, but will do so Wednesday and report back.

Jesus, Jimm is the king of multiple psus. I can't even get one rig stable with three 5970's and 2 seasonic gold 750watt joined with a lian li connector and he just uses f'in paper clips to short the 24 pin to make his work.

There must be some major power fluctuations or issues at my brother-in-laws house where these rigs are  or something. Extenders maybe? Hell I don't know, but Jimm is crazy.

I'd be happy to get this rig stable:
3 5970 at 800/300
MSI 890FXA-GD70
sempron 145
2 x Seasonic 750 watt gold psus with connector
2 Gb ram.
open case on pci e x16 powered or unpowered extenders(I have both)
linuxcoin on 16GB flash drive with cgminer.

oh well, maybe someday.
375  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / What to expect from a 6990 on: January 31, 2012, 08:27:16 PM
I just had to RMA and XFX 5970 and they sent me a brand new 6990. I have some rigs with mixed cards so I figure I might throw it in. Anyone know if the memclock can be easily manipulated with cgminer or does the card require a bios flash like the 6970's?

Of course I'm wondering if I'm not better off just selling it.
376  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Any wisdom on optimizing 6970's? on: January 30, 2012, 09:52:17 PM
Which bios did you flash your 6970 cards to? just use the newest one or one in particular?

Stick with your instincts inaba. I don't know shet about running a pool, but I bet it's similar to running rigs, don't make any major changes until it is obvious there are solid advantages an things are stable. Same with the pool, 100% up time is what it's all about, stable, stable, stable.

Let the rest of these clowns work out the bugs.

Do what you're comfortable with, you're not making enough off this to make it stressful. This is supposed to be a fun and lucrative hobby for you.

I hope the 3% donation drive is still going on and growing.
378  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Best router / router firmware to use with cgminer on: January 29, 2012, 06:59:37 PM
I'd also go for a better internet plan if it's available. I get 35-40 meg down and 7-8 up from comcast in my cable package. Also, if you go cable internet, don't use their modem, buy a motorola surfboard with docsis 3.0 It gives you faster speed even though they say it won't. They still use docsis 2.0, but the router they had set up for me was doing 20 meg down and 4-5 up.

Just make sure if you buy your own modem you make sure it is compatible with our carrier, some are not.
379  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Any wisdom on optimizing 6970's? on: January 29, 2012, 06:48:57 PM
Guys, CKolivas knows what he's talking about when it comes to cgminer and since he says he wosn some 69xx series cards, you can take the rest tio the bank. Sveetsnelda is helping me with linux, not windows.

Also, just an update. I'm going with 4 6970's on the board with a 480 rad, nice standard, stable water cooled set-up. Got all the stuff cheap, so I really don't feel the need to "max" everything out. This thing is going to live at someone else's house and I suck at networking so don't even feel like dealing with remote access. So I need this thing stable as hell. I'm going to take the extra two cards and put them into my dad's already water cooled gaming rig. He has plenty of water cooling already set-up to handle crossfire and he's a gamer. So I'm going to set him up with a nice 6970 crossfire rig and sell his water cooled gtx 470. When he's not gaming he can crank up afterburner or whatever windows tool we use and start the miner to make a few bucks.

Should work out just fine.

Thanks for the help and I'll report back when I have it set up.

banks STOLE over 3 trillion or at least the FED did, i think that would have been an nice start.
