Good to see nzhang in there.

162  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Does Butterfly Labs Deliver? on: September 15, 2012, 02:26:54 PM
Well the key as Paladin pointed is securing the network. I wasn't comfortable with BFL's pre-order restrictions which is why I didn't buy from them. I also was concerned about distribution of ASIC technology which we all went over ad nauseum. I feel comfortable now that there is some competition and it appears BFL has addressed previous issues.

In the end we will now see wide deployment of ASIC technology which I NEVER felt was a bad thing, as along as it was distributed widely so there was limited chance of "cornering" the mining market.

Of course people will still be pissed if there is a price war, because we all know this technology had high development cost and very low production cost after the product is developed.

This might not be great for early adopters depending on when prices drop, but it will certainly be good for the network as people will continue buying hardware as prices drop.

In the end we will see bitcoin being secured by a petahash in due time.

This is great news for any of us who believe decentralized digital currency is the people's weapon against international banking cartels.

As someone who has a few business plans for bitcoin related businesses, this is the news I had been waiting for.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did pirate hurt the bitcoin economy? on: September 14, 2012, 10:00:18 PM
All that really needs to happen is for bitcoin business people to actually incorporate their entities and stop with the anonymity. No one would invest a dime in the real world if they didn't know who ran the business.

Once people who actually have experience running businesses begin to step up, this crap will go away.

Bitcoin still has to follow basic commerce rules to be successful, i.e. businesses must be legitimate and customers should have reasonably viable means of recourse due to adverse events.

Unfortunately this community seems to be real heavy on the tech knowledge and close to ignorant on business, economic and legal issues.

Once this ASIC and block reward halving stuff settles out, there should be a period of relatively stable exchange prices and a network which is secure enough for people to begin starting truly legitimate businesses.

This comes from these incorporation documents which are registered in wyoming.

https://wyobiz.wy.gov/Business/FilingDetails.aspx?eFNum=149144214231010201167112190255028042109060235081

download the pdf which is their filing document under Public notes.

If this is not BFL, then their name has to be a DBA and they have a different corporate name.

Otherwise there are no public incorporation documents which would be pretty weird.

Just interesting is all.
165  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Does Butterfly Labs Deliver? on: September 14, 2012, 09:08:54 PM
Mini-rig was a pre-funding option for BFL to begin their ASIC development. They knew they would then have 50% lock-in for their ASIC terahash rigs or so it seems.

It will still work out for mini rig folks as long as they do the trade-up, without it they have zero economic chance outside of a huge price spike.

I've had nothing but solid exchanges with Tom. I just hope we see shipping in early November...
168  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CampBX preceding Gox on: September 13, 2012, 09:14:55 PM
Good news, would be nice if a US based exchange could provide liquidity equal to or greater than Gox. My experience with campBX has been great, but I when I want to move significant coins, it's hard to take a 30 to 50 cent loss or not have enough buyers for the sale.

Hopefully they get more attention from this.
169  Economy / Economics / Re: So, this is it: Bitcoin credit crunch. on: September 12, 2012, 11:14:42 PM
Credit is coming to the BTC economy. It happens to take time for those of us who actually own and run businesses to do things right.

The problem with most bitcoin financial institutions is they are run by people who don't know much about business, don't care and want to steal your money.

Also, the people looking to obtain money are not interested in going through a credible application process.

I am working on a solid long-term financial institution based on bitcoin which will be based on sound business and economic principles.

My software designer has spent the last few months making SURE we have rock solid security of all deposits. We have researched past and current hacks to avoid their mistakes.

We have spent the same amount of time working on our web platform planning for efficient usability and also security.

I have been working on the financial plan and economic underpinnings of our financial policies(My background is ten years owning a business and 2 years toward an MBA)

We will NOT rush because it has to be right from the beginning. We will be starting with secure, 100% backed(our reserves) savings accounts. We then will move to escrow services and finally lending.

So, I don't care who scams or produces garbage, we will be around as long as there are crypto-currencies because we will not be dependent on bubbles or any external factors except the risk associated with our lending portfolio. Our lending risk will never exceed our risk tolerance or ability to handle massive default.

Does cgminer always show shares a rejected for mining litecoin ?

This looks great and I'd like to set it up. Can anyone point to a guide ?
172  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] Protect your future GPU mining earnings with CoinLab's 95-97% PPS Pool on: September 12, 2012, 05:10:45 PM
I saw the same issues last night with connections, pool not submitting work fast enough, etc.

On the other hand, the pool has been rock solid at times with the lowest amount of stales I have ever seen.

I have 10+ Gh pointed here and also good to see guys like Giga pointing some power here.

I would urge everyone to stay with it as much as they can, because they really won't be able to figure things out without having a normal load pointed to it.

Chris and Coinlab have been very fair in compensating for performance issues. I would say stick with them and I believe they will make things right. They are in for the long haul.

This is the future of GPU hashing for $$$
173  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 08, 2012, 05:05:08 PM
Well I am also adding shares and would certainly like a shot at buying the hardware in a priority position since we have invested in the company to begin with.

Hopefully this will happen and I think the concept should also have to do with holding the shares for a period of time before and after you buy hardware to help reduce speculation and sell-offs.

174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BLP 0.5 PPC GUI Client Beta on: September 08, 2012, 02:42:50 PM
So as long I download this to a mining rig I should only have to change username and password in the conf file and I'm good to go for mining ?
175  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] Protect your future GPU mining earnings with CoinLab's 95-97% PPS Pool on: September 08, 2012, 02:27:16 PM
I seem to be doing okay with the pool.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BLP 0.5 PPC GUI Client Beta on: September 08, 2012, 01:22:49 AM
is this using the ppcoin 2.0 software ?
177  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] Protect your future GPU mining earnings with CoinLab's 95-97% PPS Pool on: September 07, 2012, 08:15:44 PM
How is this going to work for people who buy shares after the IPO ?

Do we still get a first dibs shot at hardware ?
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Selling PPCoins on: September 07, 2012, 02:42:35 AM
I'd buy all 50000, but can't get ppc client working.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PPC] PPCoin Released! - First Long-Term Energy-Efficient Crypto-Currency on: September 07, 2012, 02:37:28 AM
okay thanks, I think I get it now.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PPC] PPCoin Released! - First Long-Term Energy-Efficient Crypto-Currency on: September 07, 2012, 01:54:01 AM
So is the only way to mine this coin is to run the client on the mining rig and the use something like cgminer ?

I can't get this to run at all and I know part of it is I suck at command line stuff.

I'm trying to use the gui client for my wallet, but I guess you can only solo mine this which likely means you have to run the ppc client on your mining machine. Is this correct ?
