Icarus and Ztex boards working side by side. On the right my little 20.5A PSU Cheesy

What's the name of that PSU?

Hallo Turbor,

Also innerhalb einer Woche.

I like it the way it is.
667  Other / Meta / Re: I feel tiptopgem has destroyed the auctions board. on: March 04, 2012, 01:54:18 PM
I think the large numbers of gem auctions dissuades many other users from using the auctions subforum at all. I believe that a "Gems" sub-section would enable a greater number of users willing to use an auction format, without forcing them to sort through so many other listings for gems. I see people often running auctions in the Goods sections, so that people actually see the items for sale.

Having a sub-section could more easily target those that wish to buy those items, and would benefit everyone in the end. I personally block the entire auctions section currently, and I am sure there are others that do this too. I would certainly unblock it if I could simply block a Gems section instead.

No offense to the gem sellers is intended, at all - I just think the number of folks that buy them is much lower than the number of folks that may otherwise regularly shop in the Auctions section.

I agree with you. There should be a subforum for Daves stones. Since he pushes his auctions a lot, no one would be mad. He does a good thing with his stones and if you want to have some succes with your business you have to push it. He is a nice guy and his stones are fair. You get what you pay for. He never attacked anybody, just did his thing.

Perhaps you can make a donation to the forum Dave ?!. They give you a gem section and anyone will be happy. In my eyes the right way to go. His sales help bitcoin a lot.

900 MHz seems fine for a 5850. I never went that high. 940 should be close to 390 MH/s. Not too bad for a 5850.

It can take a while. I waited around 2 to 3 weeks.

I'm running my Icarus with 12 V from my powers supply. I had to chop the original plug. Now my question. I'd like to connect Icarus to my second 13.5 V PSU. Is that ok or are 13.5 V too far out of specs for the boards ? The ZTEX have no problems but he clearly states up to 16 V. Without go from Zhang i'm not going to burn it up !

the optimize voltage range is 10-14V. and 14.5V absolute.

Ok thanks for the info. I'm happy with the board so far !

i did something he does not like

"Why did you do that?  I don't know you from Adam.  The only thing I knew was that you are another expat here in Thailand, and that you did some exchange for cash which could be mutually beneficial in the future.  Why would you do something so blatantly abusive to me?

That was a really low-class thing to do.

David Fortier"

Can you enlighten us ? What's the problem ? Dave is a serious and honest man.

this 24 hour action ended months ago... wtf?HuhHuh??

So, what's the problem with that ? I never heard Dave complain about you projects !?
674  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA development board "Icarus" - 3rd batch payment start. on: March 03, 2012, 07:04:08 PM
i want to take this opportunity to talk about international delivery.

most of country are fine to pass with a lower value declared invoice. except: Germany, Italy, Brazil.

Germany: take a long time in the costume, and complex negotiate.
Brazil: no chance to negotiate, just return the package (after 1-2  month delay ).
Italy: the post man told me about it.

by this 3 country, i find air mail parcel more easily pass their costumes. but with a slower speed compared to EMS. and the weight can not over 2KG.

It's customs Zhang, not costume  Grin Wink a costume is something you can wear.

Received my Icarus board today. Took less than one week from China to Switzerland. Running RG7Miner now at around 360 to 380 MH/s. So far so good  Wink
676  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: RG7Miner - Icarus FPGA board miner on: March 03, 2012, 03:53:02 PM
I'm using your miner for my test board. Works well so far. I hope you continue your development.

Just a hint for stupid users like me, the format is <user> <pass> <url> <portName> but port means COM3 or something else not the port of the pool  Cheesy

Back on topic, America does some things right, but their postage system isn't counted in that.   USPS is, and always has been, a bloody disgrace Smiley   I'm sure it might work well enough interstate, but internationally it's bloody terrible.

Shouldn't come as a shock to anyone, but felt like venting anyway Cheesy

I disagree. Had many shippments from the USA to Switzerland in the past. Never had an issue with USPS international priority mail ! They ship fast and you can afford it ! UPS or FedEX are the real disgrace. You pay way more and don't get your goods any faster. So i only do USPS and i did more than 20 shippments.

My experiences with ztex d boards have shown that wind straight from the side helps a lot. I'd go with variant two. Going to do the same thing with my icarus. A 92mm fan should be perfect. Be quiet ftw !

If the board gets hot it could be that the heatsink is lose or not making contact the way it should. If this is the case it gets very hot. I know this from experience !
