1122  Other / Off-topic / PayPal are assholes... now confirmed! on: February 16, 2012, 06:28:06 PM
A little backstory first, I've been trying to confirm my home address on my verified PayPal account. I added my debit card, entered my address as it's written on my bank account, and tried to verify it. It failed verification 3 times, idk why. I decided to contact customer support to explain the issue and hopefully resolve it so I could use my PayPal account, which has been verified for a few years now, as a purchasing option for certain sites. Here's what the representative told me-

"As you have mentioned, you would like to confirm your home address
listed on file. Looking through your PayPal account, I saw that you have
successfully added your card that ends with xx97 on October 4, 2011
however, your address is unconfirmed.

From further checking, at the time you were trying to add the card, I
found out that it failed the Address Verification System (AVS) 3 times
due to this we will not be able to confirm your address anymore. I
recommend you to add a different card that matches your billing address
to have a confirmed address on your PayPal account."

One major problem with their response, I only have 1 card that is linked to my home address. I became pretty aggravated and responded with this-

"I don't have another card, that IS my card which is tied to MY HOME ADDRESS. You're system is obviously flawed. I've been a verified member of PayPal for years now and have never once opened a dispute or requested a charge back and this is how you treat a valuable customer? No wonder why people, myself included, want Bitcoin to succeed!"

See what I did there? lol

When I woke up this morning I received an email which read-

"We need your help resolving an issue with your account. To give us time to
work together on this, we've temporarily limited what you can do with your
account until the issue is resolved.

We understand it may be frustrating not to have full access to your PayPal
account. We want to work with you to get your account back to normal as
quickly as possible.

What's the problem?

We want to check with you to make sure that no one has logged in to your
account without your permission.

Please take a moment to change your password and create new security
questions. You should also take a look at your account information and
recent transactions. Make sure that your account information (address,
phone number, etc.) hasn't changed and that you recognize all of your
recent transactions.

If you see a payment that you don't recognize, let us know by going to the
Resolution Center.  Click "Dispute a Transaction" to report an unauthorized
transaction."

Funny part is I've never had a dispute, chargeback, or anything of the sort.

Long story short, PayPal really doesn't like the mention of Bitcoin and took it out on me.

Hey guys/gals, I'm in the process of purchasing 2 5850's to compliment my 2 5830's and I am looking at buying a new psu.

here's my current specs-
Win 7 x64
AMD Phenom II x6 2.8 GHz   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851
Biostar A870U3     http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138318
(2) Sapphire Radeon HD5830 oc'd to 950/1000, fans at 50-60%, temps at 65 to 74c
western digital caviar 80gb HD ( basically just for OS and mining software)
Thermaltake V9 open air case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133074
separate cheapo psu powering all the case fans

I also mine LTC with this pc so my CPU runs at 100% load nearly 24/7
I'm currently looking at this http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Enthusiast-Certified-Compatible-platforms/dp/B004MYFODI/ref=sr_1_9?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1329363840&sr=1-9 for a potential power supply.
I know a lot of you swear by a certain company/brand but I'm interested in your opinion if this PSU will handle my equipment without any issues.

Thoughts?

P.S. - no Windows bashing, I'm not switching to Linux. Nothing against it but I've been using Windows since 3.1 lol
1128  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 35 BTC loan (short term- repay in 10 days MAX) on: February 16, 2012, 02:49:13 AM
If someone does offer a loan it WILL be paid back in full even if I get burned. Unfortunately there are no guarantees in selling/purchasing here. A good idea would be for the lender to act as the escrow to reduce the possibility of anyone getting screwed.
1129  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 32 BTC loan (short term- repay in 10 days MAX) on: February 16, 2012, 02:39:42 AM
I asked him to take a pic of the cards with my name on a piece of paper and he obliged
1130  Economy / Lending / [repaid] looking for 35 BTC loan (short term- repay in 10 days MAX) on: February 15, 2012, 09:37:25 PM
I've never asked for a loan but there's some 5850's here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=64012.0 and I want to get two. I have 20 BTC leaving me 35 BTC short, this is where I need a loan.

I have tax refund money coming to me any day now and I get paid friday so I can pay back the loan within 1 week (or however long it takes for funds to go from bank to dwolla/mt gox)
I will be able to repay in BTC, Dwolla, or Mt Gox (whichever is preferred)

Send me your offers

EDIT: fixed post, didn't figure in shipping, now a 35 btc loan
