121  Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ? on: October 02, 2017, 11:52:38 PM
I don't buy it. I think people want to be fulfilled, not just consume more. You can see affluent people are not all obese and lazy. Many of them are driven and forego little luxuries in favour of a bigger purpose.

Wealth, true wealth is not in what your bank balance says, but in the choices your means afford you to make.
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ban in South Korea on: October 02, 2017, 09:31:39 PM
Yes, I think from what i understand here its ICO and particularly scam ICO's in addition to hacking from North Korea are the problem for the South Koreans. Its not a ban or Bitcoin. I think many of the asian countries are actually strongly in favour of BTC.
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Coming War Between Digital Currencies on: October 02, 2017, 09:14:50 PM
Clearly government ts are already planning for digital currencies. I think the thing that is at play is really control. With Bitcoin, the control is pretty much hardcoded in from the beginning and the economic philosophy was a pretty conservative one. That philosophy is at odds with most modern governments who want to have an inflatable currency.

It is possible to program this concept into the blockchain, but it is difficult to change it at say "a monthly fed meeting".

It is a great article. Thanks
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WRONG MONEY ON WALLET on: October 02, 2017, 08:35:32 PM
Hi,
i think i made a mistake and i need to get my money back or at least understand what happened
I use blockchain wallet (a BTC and ETH wallet)
18 september  ; I bought for 50 $ of BTC
18 september ; I wanted some Omisego, so using website changelly, I bought with my BTC some Omisego   and it worked. I send for 50$ of BTC
But I received   5 ETH (received history) but my ETH wallet is empty. (I understand there is something wrong).
I would like to know what happen and if I can get back my money
Thx,
Raphael
A couple of things, first with any issue with changelly - you should contact changelly. Secondly, it is highly unlikely that you got with 5 ETH for $50. Thirdly, once you send BTC,it is gone and you are at the mercy of the owner of the receiving address for any further discussion.

Mostly check thrice.

Contact changelly.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 10.000 btc pizza... on: October 02, 2017, 05:21:43 PM
I would have loved to have had a slice of that pizza, just for bragging rights. But seriously it was probably a fair enough deal at the time. Who is to know that people will not laugh at us in a few years time at the though of us paying, I don't know say 20 BTC for a Tesla (This being when BTC might be worth $500K a piece).

Just a theoretical scenario a $5Million Tesla
126  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin Volatility Be Controlled? on: October 02, 2017, 05:02:06 PM
I think the volatility will work itself out over time. If Bitcoins market cap right now is about $75 Billion - while its a lot of money, it is still small compared to other markets like fiat currencies, gold etc.

Once the overall cap grows, it will gain a certain inertia that will make it harder to swing with such pace.

Additionally, many people are not fully familiar or comfortable with crypto currencies yet, and the news, good and bad has a very skittish effect on the market.

I think these things are growing pains that will work out over a couple of years.

Patience.
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can government control buying most of the coins in the market? on: October 02, 2017, 04:52:29 PM
Can government control buying most of the coins in the market?
I am wondering if your question is could the government buy up all the crypto that is in supply? to control or corner the market?

or

Could they control who can buy crypto?

The first one first?

They could try buying up all the crypto, and on paper it seems the sub $200 billion price might be a drop in the bucket, but I think as soon as somebody went on that kind of a buying run the price would soar. The market would react and the capitalisation would spiral to unimaginable highs. There would also be some hold outs - who under no circumstances would sell, they would do this on a point of principle, and then what would be to stop anyone/everyone starting new currencies to cash in on the bonanza?

The second question, controlling who can buy currencies? this is already partially the case in some countries - but its not fully implementable, because I could sell you some crypto coins over the internet, or in a face to face encounter and who is going to stop that? See Venezuala.

131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China can't bring bitcoin down! on: October 02, 2017, 09:20:39 AM
Now that bitcoin is going up again, this could only mean that China, ( no matter how big you are ) could not bring bitcoin down!
Who will agree with me?Smiley
China is pretty important to world trade no matter which way you look at it, it has somewhere in the region of 15% of the worlds population. For Bitcoin it has many of the miners and it is a powerhouse in many other regards as well, so when it does something drastic to Bitcoin it does have an impact. However, anything China does will not end Bitcoin - remember it is a global thing - the other 85% will still keep it going...
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AIRDROP] eBTC | The New (ERC20) Bitcoin on: October 01, 2017, 07:28:46 PM

You should print this out and pin it on the wall - one day in the not so distant future when these token sell for hundreds, or thousands you can boast to your grandkids like the person who bought 2 pizzas for 10,000 BTC.

But whatever keeps you happy.

Immutable date, Secured Information with DeepOnion

Nice Image, is deep vault for DeepOnion only or does it have practical applications for storing other sensitive data (e.g. other coin data) also?

135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Ethereum on: October 01, 2017, 05:14:45 PM
If you compare the two main cryptocurrency, namely Bitcoin and Ethereum, which one has the most promising future?
In terms of evolution, Bitcoin reached a maximum of roughly 4800$, whereas Ethereum reached roughly 394$: in other words, it is a potential increase of 33 % for Ethereum, but only 24% for Bitcoin.
Its early days yet for these 2 - there are a number of others showing promise too, ARK, Waves etc for functionality and the likes of DeepOnion for privacy. The recent highs will I am sure look very modest in times to come. I have printed out a copy of the current market caps of the top 800 or so coins at coinmarketcap and I am pretty certain when I look at it in 1, 2, 5 and 10 years time I am going to cry as to why I didn't sell my dog to buy all around me.
136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin? on: October 01, 2017, 04:15:10 PM
I know a lot of people have different reason why the love and embrace bitcoin.
For me the decentralized nature of bitcoin and the thought of being able to send coins to anybody in any part of the word, no third party, no regulation(specific amount), no bullshit is mind blowing.

The fact that no single entity controls it is a hugely impressive factor, this is revolutionary. All other currencies can be manipulated very easily by centralised authorities - not Bitcoin, or other cryptos.
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Good alternative to etherscan on: October 01, 2017, 01:51:44 PM
Etherscan is doing an upgrade at the moment, and thats OK but I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to a good alternative?

Secondly I was wondering if there is such a thing that keeps track of tokens and coins in various addresses and keeps a value on them, similar to maybe the way the Bloomberg app does it for shares and bonds?

Ideas? Go.
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any solution for Bitcoin Instant Confirmation ? on: October 01, 2017, 11:57:29 AM
Like everyone here in this forum, we are anticipating that Bitcoin would be the future currency. If this is materialized, most of the early investors / current bitcoin users would definitely make a fortune if he/she holds lot of bitcoin in his portfolio. But the question is, what’s holding back the popularity of bitcoin at the moment? Of course, the first factor would be the Government’s restrictions (like what happens in China now). Besides that, I think lag in transfer/payment confirmation is also a big issue. There are many transactions which requires instant confirmation in order to work but common bitcoin transaction takes minutes or hours to confirm. How do current retailers adopt this payment system with such delay? Think would be a major setback if one wish to see bitcoin works as major currency in near future. So, is there any solution so far?
Instant transaction confirmations (without killing some other aspect of the functionality) would be very welcome. It is very frustrating to be waiting around sometimes for a very long time to get 1 confirmation, let alone 2.
139  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Population on: October 01, 2017, 01:29:05 AM
What is the best solution to resolve our problem in overpopulation?
Indeed, if you examine the trends in many countries you will notice that the population is actually in decline. And what exactly do you define as over population?
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ban in South Korea on: October 01, 2017, 12:18:19 AM
I have recently heard that after China Now South Korea Ban Bitcoin too...is that truth???
If banned then What's the future of BTC now?
South Korea are trying to regulate the market, the first rumors were a ban, then it emerged that they were taking a more measured approach. Their action apparently was triggered by 2 events, the first was growing concern that many regular people were getting scammed by unscrupulous ICO's and the second was a hacking attempt by North Korea - the target was a Bitcoin heist. I haven't heard whether they were successful or not.
