141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Banks fear cryptocurrency on: October 01, 2017, 12:14:30 AM
Yesterday the Central Bank of Albania issued a warning about the uncertain and unsafe nature  of cryptocurrencies
They called on people not to get involved. Should we be afraid or the banks are!
Talk to Jamie Dimon, he has obviously recently gone on the offensive and is giving it everything he has got to try and rubbish Bitcoin. I don't think he would necessarily be doing this for no good reason, the question is, is it out of fear - or is he manipulating the market in some way?

Good luck Satoshi with all the transfers. I hope you have some scripted way of doing it and that you don't have to do it all manually.

Thanks you.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if, we advertise bitcoin on T.V.? on: September 30, 2017, 08:51:42 PM
The big money isn't going into TV anymore, on balance online advertising - short form video is really where it is at these days. I am also not sure how you propose to impose a tax on the community to pay for this, or indeed how you will achieve a consensus as to what an advertising campaign would look like.

ITs not a bad idea to seek good publicity and advertising would certainly be an option, but in the short term, more functional use, government consensus and practical stuff like that might be more meaningful.

@botecoin

Can you also advise on the specifics for adding new nodes, e.g. is it -addnode xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

or do we need to specify the tcp port as well?

Thanks, enjoy your weekend.
148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can bitcoin wallet be hacked by hackers? on: September 30, 2017, 01:39:36 PM
can they hack into our wallet. There are many professional hackers out there. What are the chances? Also what is the safest way to safeguard ourself?
Anything in the digital space has vulnerabilities. What you need to do is take whatever steps you can to add layers of security to make it as awkward and time consuming as possible for any would be attacker. ITs like having a burglar alarm on your house when your neighbour doesn't, typical the thief will go next door.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Really A Currency or An Asset? on: September 30, 2017, 01:35:25 PM
Bitcoin has been touted as a crypto-currency, capable of replacing fiat currencies but the reality today is that most people prefer to hold bitcoins rather than spend it. Can we really say it si a currency when a large number of bitcoin users treat it as an asset?
Its obviously both, In terms of its asset comparrison it might be precious metals. In terms of its currency utility it is very useful for large transactions, in particular large or international transactions, but it gets expensive and cumbersome for small everyday transactions.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you keep buying? on: September 30, 2017, 01:30:34 PM
Bitcoin price keeps increasing. Price is x10 considering last year. Even 25k-50k-100k is predicted.

Are you adding more bitcoin by buying with cash? or you trade or invest in ICOs & altcoins in order to increase the amount you have?

or do you just hold what you have?
In very small amounts, but I don't have huge funds with which to buy.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if another altcoin surpasses BTC in value? on: September 30, 2017, 01:28:43 PM
What will you do if some altcoin (XMR or ETH for example surpasses the value of BTC, either in market cap or by the price of a token each? Will you sell your BTC to buy the more "valuable" coin, or continue using and holding BTC? Also, what do you think are the chances that it could happen? I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions.
ITs possible, this is what Ethereum fans are calling the Flippening over on Reddit. If it does happen my reaction would depend on the reason, if its a case of the rise of another currency then no problem. However, if it happened because of a law in BTC that would be a different story.

I expect BTC will retain a premium spot as a store of value/a kind of a gold standard for a long time. It is a little cumbersome for small, fast transactions - therefore another currency might rise in popularity without hurting BTC.
152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin finally legal in India on: September 30, 2017, 01:17:32 PM
"Suddenly, Bitcoin to Be Officially Legal in India"
posted Jule 20, 2017
https://cointelegraph.com/news/suddenly-bitcoin-to-be-officially-legal-in-india

Bitcoin exchanges in India have been able to operate but they have been self-regulating using strict Know Your Customer and Anti Money Laundering measures https://veratad.com/solutions/identity-verification/ in place. These areas will now fall under government regulation.

Funny side note--a member of the parliament in India likened Bitcoin to a Ponzi scheme as recently as March of this year. Pretty wild.
"In a letter to the Finance Ministry and the Reserve Bank of India, Somaiya explained that Bitcoin is a pyramid Ponzi-type scheme. However, Somaiya was criticized for his inability to understand the structural and fundamental difference between a Ponzi scheme and Bitcoin."

Whats interesting about Bitcoin in India is the contrast between it and regular bank notes. If I recall correctly, last year, the central bank puled all big notes (anything worth over $5) out of circulation and swapped out all other notes in banks for new issue. This led to chaos i banks for weeks, with lines in every town, village and city there was a bank.

The reason for the move was to improve traceability of transactions, reduce the black market and so on - not things that BTC really helps.

Just saying
153  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it too late to buy bitcoin? on: September 30, 2017, 01:12:24 PM
Even the blind can see that crypto Currency is making people millionaires all  over the world just because they present the holders of such currency with the financial freedom and opportunity to accrue large amounts of wealth base on currency investment . But my question is that, is it late to buy bitcoin? Should i wait maybe bitcoin price will decline after 1st August meeting? Please i will welcome your advice so that I can make my decision on crypto currency investment.
The short version is "Who knows?" The longer version is, most people who are involved in BTC believe it has a ways to go yet before it hits its peak value. People a couple of years ago had exactly the same concern when the price per coin was several hundred dollars, the concern was was it too late. Personally if I had the benefit of hindsight I would have pumped every last drop I could have afforded into BTC at $600, but I didn't.

The same thing is probably true now, but somehow the stakes seem higher - who knows in 5 years time you and I will be sitting here moaning about how much we could be worth if we just bout all the BTC we could at $4K when the price is $40K, or $400K - having said that, it could go the other way as well.

That the fun of the fair.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are the weaknesses of the crypto market? on: September 30, 2017, 12:56:58 PM
i wonder what are the weaknesses of the crypto market?

I think the wild price fluctuations are somewhat unhelpful right now, this is driven by a multitude of factors including FUD/FOMO balancing, market manipulation increases in adoption and lots of speculation.

The general lack of understanding and difficulty of engagement for everyday people is also a weakness.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can be a key for us to become successful person? on: September 30, 2017, 12:51:50 PM
Many people are now rich because of the bitcoin and I think that the bitcoin is the key for us to become successful person also. What do you think?
I think that some people who were involved in Bitcoin early were visionary and really understood its impact before everyone else, many of those people have become wealthy now as a result. Some others were in the right place at the right time.

However, I would not confuse having money or wealth necessarily with being successful - generally having wealth will amplify the traits a person already has.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you still receive BTG from hardfork if your btc is in coinb.in? on: September 30, 2017, 02:03:05 AM
I have some BTC locked up till january using coinb.in time lock wallet and was just wondering if I will still receive Bitcoin Gold during hardfork?
Hope so...
Thanks
KayaMan
Is the wallet and private key yours? IF so then what ever happens you should still be in control. If you don't own the wallet (private keys) then technically its not your bitcoin, you might be owed an amount in bitcoin but not necessarily that exact coin.
157  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we totally eliminate all the banks in this world? on: September 30, 2017, 01:42:26 AM
What is the future of cryptocurrencies when all the government need to do is to close the bank accounts of businesses or exchange?

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-businesses-face-bank-account-closures-in-singapore/

It might be theoretically possible, but I am not sure that a) it is necessary to strive to achieve that because Think the first thing we should be doing is adding all the value we can and not worrying about what banks do. and b) I am not sure it is desirable to eliminate all the banks, because as much as you might hate some of them, there are many important functions that banks provide.

I do believe int he long term that banks will be very much changed.
158  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Think we Are alone in the Universe? on: September 30, 2017, 01:12:15 AM
it is a question that people still argue on,
I believe that we are not alone in the universe but I still am interested in hearing others opinion on this.
Its a really interesting question, any answer given is very difficult to backup but my guess is that we are not alone. I believe that the universe is for practically infinite in size and it is very naieve of us to believe that we are so special as to be the only life forms to have evolved in this vastness.

There could be other life forms that we are incapable of observing, or imagining in close proximity to us, or there might be abundant life just beyond the limits of our communications ability. Or, other life forms may be aware of us and simply have no interest in communicating with us, or may be observing us. Imagine how we observe and communicate with (or not as the case may be) with a colony of ants, are they aware of our presence - or worried about us communicating with them???
159  Other / Off-topic / Re: Google Chrome Automatic Captcha Solver Extension on: September 30, 2017, 01:01:46 AM
The irony is that most captcha's now provide problematic to people but not to sophisticated bots. There was a time when they were moderately useful at stopping spam but now I think it is really time to move on.

I mean, I (and I assume I am not the only one) have a good deal of trouble with many of them, yet bots still fly through them routinely.

What gives Huh
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First China Now South Korea on: September 30, 2017, 12:56:00 AM
What should we do keep your bitcoin, sell it, or buy more?

now because I am a little skeptic, but I can see that there is no decreasing value of the the BTC... Huh
There is a piece of news here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2216022.0  that suggests that the reason behind Soth Koreas decision is more based on an attack from North Korea trying to steal BTC. So this actually puts a good spin on BTC believe it or not...

Even North Korea wants in.  Roll Eyes
