Happy Birthday Dogecoin. Who knew 4 years ago that there would be so many birthday - so many coin - so many value?

I think it was Peter Diamandis said " The given a choice, choose both". These two serve different purposes, as an investment I would prefer Bitcoin, ETH has some interesting properties too so I wouldn't dismiss it.

Just curious to know if you plan to launch a Masternode coin, why didn't you base your coin on Dash or PivX, looks like BTC or LTC?

At this stage its a bit like Elon Musks prediction of his next rocket launch "It will be exciting One way or the other" I can t wait to see what happens at the end of 2020 either we see $1M/BTC or we see what McAfee does.

So what is the deal with IOTA. I bought a few hundred IOTA a couple of months ago and assumed I could leave them sit, then when I checked my balance was zero. So a little digging and with some very unclear information the IOTA foundation "Is minding"? my IOTA ? WTF Is this an immutable blockchain or someones database? Now I eventually find garbled instructions as to try and recover these and when I follow these it seems that nothing happens - transaction is still unconfirmed (4 days later). What gives? Is there some magical power has to grant me my IOTA back or what is going on here?

50% Bitcoin, 25% Litecoin 25% other sounds like a reasonable plan. I would suggest that if you are looking at 5 - 10 years, find a way to store your private keys If it was me, I would have a few paper copies - digital can be hacked easier, and sit back and forget about it.
Imagine if you put $1,000 investment n crypto this way 5 years ago and decided to spend it today.

As a Bitcoin user I think neither of these will happen. Individual countries can try and ban Bitcoin - but it is not up to countries to ban, it is peer to peer, or person to person - you cannot stop that unless you can stop all communications.
Neither do I think that all fiat money will disappear, some currencies are clearly in trouble - and many may disappear but I suspect that as long as governments exist they will want to control their own currency (or at least try)
|
|
|
Its pretty natural for people to be getting more interested in investing in Bitcoin when many governments are using currency as a tool to try and control people. That was not meant to be the purpose of money. Money was meant to be used as an exchange of value and a store of wealth - not a weapon against people. People are chasing to take control themselves, not to be controlled.

The proportion that SEM is taking is something great, the work done so far is spectacular and on the distribution to BTC Holders, it's fair. Each SEM is valuable. Agreed, This I think will be one of the biggest news stories in 2018, everyone will ask, where did Semux come from - and it all comes back to the commitment and energy of Team Semux.

Someone in the Semux trading thread spoke about a snapshot based airdrop for Bitcoin holders. Is this true?
Yes, check the OP. In the OP they say "BTC Giveaway". So it is not clear what they mean. Could also be a raffle. I am pretty sure the dev said SEM will be given away to BTC holders and the snapshot has already been taken a while ago. Yes, we will distribute a limited number of semux to BTC holders. The snapshot has been taken at block #480,000; participants need to sign with their private key to claim the rewards. The final ratio and amount cap per address will be announced on Dec 1, 2017. I was rather wishing that the snapshot would be a few weeks earlier or later than that. At that time I had a btc balance of close to 0

I think Zimbabwe and a few other countries have "amplified" currency problems. On the one hand it might be easy to dismiss them as edge cases, and it is worth taking a moment to reflect on the hardship the people there are enduring as a result of these problems - but it is also a good reason to continue our decentralised currency journey - to avoid these situations from occurring in the first case.

This looks like another great Masternode project, I love master nodes. Hope this goes well.

Is there anything like the equivalent of EtherDelta for these type of coins? I see many ways to get scammeed here, I pm'ed one seller who was brand new - wanted me to go first and when I suggested escrow the convesation mysteriously stopped. Having said that, everyone who offers escrow services needs to be dealt with "Eyes wide open" too.

Many people have different priorities and moral standards. Wherever there is a scam, typically the perpetrator and the victim tend to dehumanise the other party, the perp usually justifies his/her actions in a way that allows them to carry on without feeling any particular level of guilt. The victim tends to see the perp as a monster of sorts.
Usually the perpetrator of fraud carries out their act to satisfy their own needs or desires, in some cases this is because no viable alternatives are available (such as a decent job), in other cases it is simply seen as a greedy easy shortcut.

I tried the electric ones, didn't really do it for me. Had my mind made up to give up anyway, it was really really hard. but worth it.

I think this project has legs, I really think it is going to go places.

Today I am definately loving the price, wow, its simply on fire.

Please do keep us updated on progress with this. Also there is a balance to be had between keeping any airdrop exclusive and getting broad distribution out - I don't know that anyone knows the perfect solution to that one.

Joined the beta testers - looks interesting, I assume being Java that the wallet will be portable to essentially any device once released?
