61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright to move coins from an early (associated with the genesis?!) block? on: May 05, 2016, 01:30:49 AM
This is just getting more and more silly.

The chances of someone in the world being a brilliant enough con-man to trick Gavin AND is willing to go through all this trouble and risk to attempt it AND doesn't have a conscience is not that low.

But the chances that such a person just happened to have helped Satoshi Nakamoto create/test bitcoin, AND knows who Satoshi is (despite the fact that the whole world has been searching for Satoshi to no success)?

You're better off trying to win the lottery every single week for a year.

I think if someone decides to not investigate more into bitcoin because of a photo, then they're not worth the time.

Seriously, who cares?
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “I’m Wrong” Says Wright – But does it matter? May 4th, 2016 on: May 04, 2016, 10:56:09 PM
How about a blurb on wtf "the bitcoinrat" is? I have never heard of such a thing.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LOL Antonopoulos Destroys Banks’ Blockchain Delusions Once Again on: May 04, 2016, 10:54:37 PM
Andreas is an incredibly smart guy. But I don't think he's right about this.

Just because all of those features are desirable to him and some other people, doesn't mean they're desirable to banks or other people.

All banks want is a secure and fast way to transfer money between each other digitally. without losing control.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright and Gavin Andresen - Summary of the Story on: May 04, 2016, 02:08:59 PM
bulista, between here and Reddit and dozens of blogs there has been a tremendous amount of research and speculation regarding the Craig Wright saga. And you manage to studiously avoid all of it with your three links. That's not even remotely helpful. I suggest you stop posting for a while and start reading and digesting what has already been established.

I'm sorry, but you do know what a "summary" is, right?

(not saying whether OP's summary is good (enough) or not, didn't look at the links)
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DAO] Price Speculation on: May 03, 2016, 10:07:21 AM
How eventual is eventual?

I don't see it past 100M in the near future. I was kind of excited when I first read about it, but once understanding it a bit more, I'm not so sure. It's like a super crowd funded VC, but it won't have access to the groundbreaking companies that real VCs have access to, nor the expertise real VCs have.

It may end up making money, but I don't think it'll be a super success.

Wisdom of the crowd > any expert in the world.

Then, if you suppose that slock.it can achieve what it is supposed to, you will probably get big rewards only with it. But this story success could attract other good project.

Second point is obviously in the best story case  Grin

The problem isn't the "wisdom" part. It's the other parts. VCs don't just pick companies, give them money and watch the dough come in. They are active in helping the start up go in the right direction, connecting the start up with other influential people that will benefit them, and lots of other things.

With this DAO, you won't have any of that.

And again, in the first place, you need to have promising companies apply for DAO funding. Why would the next facebook or uber or airbnb use DAO over traditional VCs that they know they can trust? Would they really reveal all their plans to potentially tens of thousands of people or even more, just to try to get funded? I don't think so.

The quality of start-ups applying for DAO funding will almost definitely be significantly lower than the quality of start-ups a top VC can get their hands on.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright Gavin Andresen = PLOT on: May 03, 2016, 08:26:00 AM
You know what I think?

It's a lot more likely that this is a plot by Anti-Gavin and possibly anti-bigger blocks people than it is a plot by Gavin.

Just think about it, Gavin isn't stupid enough to think he can fool all of the other crypto experts. And why would he put his whole reputation on the line? There must've been other things he would've done.

On the other hand, if this was a plot by the anti-Gavin faction, it actually makes sense.

1. If Gavin realized the "tricks" Craig used (we're assuming Craig is a fake here), nothing would happen. No one would care. He would just be seen as a fake, no one takes any reputation hit.

2. Gavin took the bait, and now he makes a fool of himself, ruining his reputation.

See, in any scenario, the anti-Gavin faction can't lose.

(for the record I think it's just an elaborate hoax by craig, I don't think (at least I hope) there aren't malicious manipulators behind this. But the Gavin accusations are just ridiculous, in my opinion)
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The truth about the Craig Wright fiasco (real "Satoshi" please come in) on: May 03, 2016, 12:15:24 AM
When did I ever say I believed in Craig's story? You're the one who lacks basic reading comprehension, lol.

Although I know you're doing it on purpose just to troll, but whatever. Trolls need to be fed too Smiley
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The truth about the Craig Wright fiasco (real "Satoshi" please come in) on: May 02, 2016, 11:46:38 PM
Why would Gavin help this Dorian guy at the huge expense of his own reputation? Or at least he could've gotten Dorian to sign a message so that the keys aren't handed to anyone else, and everyone has "proof" that Craig is Satoshi. Dorian keeps his anonymity, and Gavin doesn't lose his reputation. Win-Win, right?

If you're going to insult people, at least come up with better lies.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The truth about the Craig Wright fiasco (real "Satoshi" please come in) on: May 02, 2016, 11:31:58 PM
What does Gavin get out of this?

Then again, nevermind. People don't always work under normal logic, since it's hard to see what you can get out of spreading such blatant lies either.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Those saying Wright is not Satoshi are full of $#!% on: May 02, 2016, 11:28:43 PM
You must understand that this so called "verification" happened on a "new" laptop that Craig provided.

Link please?

I haven't yet seen anything indicating that Gavin used a laptop provided by Mr. Wright to perform the verification of the cryptographic proof.

I read that an assistant went out and bought a new laptop. Can't remember the source.

Wait, found it: https://www.wired.com/2016/05/craig-wright-privately-proved-hes-bitcoins-creator/

Quote
Andresen says an administrative assistant working with Wright left to buy a computer from a nearby store, and returned with what Andresen describes as a Windows laptop in a “factory-sealed” box. They installed the Bitcoin software Electrum on that machine. For their test, Andresen chose the message “Gavin’s favorite number is eleven.” Wright added his initials, “CSW,” and signed the message on his own computer. Then he put the signed message on a USB stick belonging to Andresen and they transferred it to the new laptop, where Andresen checked the signature.
72  Other / Archival / Re: Giving away .1 BTC. Seriously, no strings attached on: May 02, 2016, 11:25:38 PM
Imagine when at the end, the bitcoins this guy gives away are actually from the first few blocks (or other addresses known to be Satoshi's)!

Hehehe
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Those saying Wright is not Satoshi are full of $#!% on: May 02, 2016, 11:12:06 PM
I think it takes a different kind of intelligence to be able to see through elaborate scams. You need more than just logic; you need to understand human psychology and the tricks these experts use to scam people.

Either Gavin did as he said and verified valid cryptographic proof, or he didn't.  There's no psychology involved in that.

You have no proof that I'm not Satoshi either. Or that there isn't an invisible unicorn in my pocket.

You are correct.  And so I can't state that you are NOT Satoshi, nor can I state that you ARE Satoshi (nor can I state anything about the contents of your pocket).  What's the sense in even discussing it unless you're going to provide me proof?

I'm no crypto expert or con-man, I can't begin the imagine the types of tricks a scammer could use. But I'm sure there are plenty.

And if you want to nitpick like that, I haven't seen anyone say outright that "Craig Wright is not Satoshi". Certainly that's not what most people are saying. They're simply saying that it's highly unlikely that this guy is Satoshi, and I think that is a very reasonable conclusion based on the available evidence.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin andresen & CIA associates killed satoshi on: May 02, 2016, 11:01:33 PM
I wonder how many bright minds have fancied a go at Bitcoin development, caught a whiff of the average thread on the myriad of forums, and run screaming.

Only the smart ones who did their research and realized that the CIA will kill them and replace them with some random dude for no apparent reason.

Oh, and the ones who gave up because they couldn't levitate.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Those saying Wright is not Satoshi are full of $#!% on: May 02, 2016, 10:50:50 PM

So I think by far the most likely answer is that Gavin was simply tricked.

As to not having proof that this guy isn't Satoshi, the burden of proof is on him to prove that he's Satoshi, not the other way around. You have no proof that I'm not Satoshi either. Or that there isn't an invisible unicorn in my pocket.

Tai Lopez is legit, okay? He's made millions off of scamming people with his 69 steps (or however many steps it was) and scammy dating sites that don't let you cancel and charges your credit card every month.
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright is not Satoshi, because I have found Satoshi (proof) on: May 02, 2016, 07:53:14 PM
except by your argument, Craig Wright IS Satoshi....
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 02, 2016, 07:40:39 PM
I don't know why people are assuming the worst of Gavin. Even if he's a smart guy, it isn't out of the question that he got tricked by a really smart con-man.

I think it's a lot less likely that Gavin would risk his reputation on something that obviously won't work like this.

In the position Gavin has, he can't be simply be fooled like that.
Losing his commit permission was a smart decision of the Bitcoin Team.

Also, good to see that people already found proof enough to just show that Craig is just an attention whore wanting some money to pay his taxes problems.

But he can make obvious lies that he obviously knows will be found out in a matter of hours? Come on.
