141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) -> [Niro] Nexus Economy - Pure SHA3 - CPU/GPU + PoS on: April 13, 2015, 10:16:09 PM
The situation was the following: I had to use Acronis True Image to restore Windows 7 64, after that the wallet worked - so I backed up the Coinshield directory and deleted  Cry the preveous copy, the next time I started the wallet - I got the error.

There is something about the Coinshield-QT that doesn't allow you to just copy and paste the contents and then re-start.  If you try to copy the database from anywhere else, it just doesn't work.  I don't know why because it usually works for most other QT wallets.

I assume you can delete everything in the CoinShield folder except for your wallet.dat and run the Coinshield-QT again and it should work... that always works for me... but it takes forever to load the blocks...

Hopefully we will get the fast-sync 1.0.2 version re-branded to Nexus Niro soon

Thanks for the link!

Wow, the new logo is a great start.  Things are moving quickly now!

Well now that we are on our way to re-branding to the Nexus Economy and the Niro, it might be time to add this to the thread title to start gaining traction.  Once we have re-branded on Bittrex and have the updated wallet and logo, then we can start a new thread or re-name this one again.

Current:
[ANN] Coinshield (CSD) - Pure SHA3, Decentralized Checkpoints, CPU/GPU + PoS

Suggestion:
[ANN] Coinshield (CSD) -> (Niro) Nexus Economy - Pure SHA3 - CPU/GPU + PoS

Two thumbs up to KryptoKash and Videlicet.  Things are moving forward and the community's concerns are being heard.

Bumping this for newcomers:

http://www.orionvm.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/globalnetwork.png

The winning logo will be awarded a bountry of 20,000 Niro. [~30.42 USD]
This is ~29% of a Day's Niro Supply ~68,814 Niro at current rate of decay.
Let's see what everyone can come up with Smiley Please artists, let's see what we come up with from scratch!
Bounty is higher, so let's see some quality that can reflect on the quality of our name and The Nexus that provides the Niro.

Winning designer could also get some future work as budget increases. There is a lot of infrastructure to be built on top of the Nexus Protocol that will allow operation of Union and Trust. This will also require beautiful graphics / videos Wink

So when can we see a richlist or distribution thingo or whatevers hip these days as far as that goes

If you are referring to a public accounting of the Niro that has been mined through the channels, I am entirely in support of that...

In fact, one question I have is whether or not the Niro mined from the trade channel will continue to be devoted to the digital recycler or if it will serve multiple purposes now that the project is re-branding.

I generally am supportive of this project, but I am also of the opinion that there is a great irony due to the lack of source code and lack of transparency of these funds given that Videlicet champions himself as a bringer of light.  Wink

A nice feature to add to the statistics at coinshield.io would be a way to monitor the balances of the funds from trade and dev channel.

As I have said in the past, the sooner that more disclosure occurs, the sooner this project can take on a more legitimate feeling.

I generally believe that Videlicet is a highly talented developer and innovator in this industry.  The concepts behind the Nexus Economy and the Niro (aka CoinShield CSD) are great ideas but my enthusiasm and trust is certainly tempered until more details are available that shed light and provide some base with which to form trust in the project and business.

All that said, I want to help provide feedback and discussion here to make sure this project moves forward in everyone's interests.

In addition to this logo competition I just hired/paid a professional designer as a back up.  Smiley

That's great KryptoKash!

As I said before, we may need to advertise this logo contest.  If there are no submissions, I would recommend we start a logo fund and get some designs done at https://www.fiverr.com/

Yeah I agree Starblocks, let's go towards the NIRO on all exchanges. If some exchanges only support 3 letter tickers, we can do NIR. What do you think?

Thank You,
Viz.

I'm not sure I follow... are there any crypto exchanges with only 3 letter tickers?

Might as well just use the full name of Niro Smiley

There is no problem with a 4 letter ticker

Some decentralized exchange protocols (ripple) only support 3 letters for ticker, in which case it can just be NIR on those very few exchanges

And something like these:

Agreed, you have given some valuable input BitcoinSanDiego  Smiley
And The Nexus is many things, but mainly the community and network, a Nexus of Computers, a Nexus of People.

Alright, so are we agreed to NIRO, and NIR ?
Let's see too, I want to post a bounty for the best logo for Nexus.
What does everyone think is a fair quantity of Niro for the logo winner ?

Thank You,
Viz.

BTC-NIRO

10,000 NIRO?

Winning submission could be submitted to Fiverr.com for potential improvements?
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) - Pure SHA3, Decentralized Checkpoints, CPU/GPU + PoS on: April 12, 2015, 02:20:53 AM
Yes I agree with everyone here I like The Nexus Niro Smiley NIRO or just NIR personally, as the "X" isn't synonymous with the initial currency symbol for BTC denoted by Satoshi. We should keep to etiquette, and any global currency trader will know the distinguishing difference of "X" based currencies. I would like for our image to be reflected as a global economy, rather than a singular asset. That is in part what Nexus Tech, Nexus Trust, and Nexus Union will be providing to the economy, so to take our stance as a border-less country:

coun·try
noun: country; plural noun: countries; noun: the country

    1.
a nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory.

ter·ri·to·ry
noun: territory; plural noun: territories; noun: Territory; plural noun: Territories
    2.
(especially in the US, Canada, or Australia) an organized division of a country that is not yet admitted to the full rights of a state.

Since their definition loophole wraps back from territory to country, we can define our territories as:
"Areas in Mathematical space, linked together in the Binary Tree, stored in virtual coordinate spaces existing in the internet"

In this part, Nexus Nodes [Physical entrance locations to Nexus], could be similar to an embassy, to provide diplomacy between other world economies and their individual regulations.

Thank You,
Viz.

so will the community be the nexī  ?

You know what they say, it's Sexy being a Nexy.

BTW, the market seems to be reacting nicely to the latest news regarding the re-brand.  This is good for bringing in more people to the Nexus Economy

Okay I got dibs on the Nexus Intergalactic Region (NIR) lol Wink

Now we are having fun guys... let's keep this community feedback loop going  Grin
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) - Pure SHA3, Decentralized Checkpoints, CPU/GPU + PoS on: April 12, 2015, 01:24:22 AM
Maybe just NIR or NIRO, but I see it like this:

The United States Economy -> United States Dollar ->USD
The Nexus Economy     -> Nexus Niro -> NXN

Instead of being seen as just an asset such as XAU for Gold, to be seen as correlating to an economy, or "country" that exists in mathematical space, in the ownership of areas of mathematical space, that in which your private / public key combinations in the binary tree form. So in a sense, the economy could be seen as a border-less country that exists in mathematical space, driving the economy and trading between other countries through imports / exports in the Niro, such as technology I have been working on concerning energy production systems.

XNR? I like your angle at going towards just Niro, but I think this really is too similar to XMR [Monero].

Thank You,
Viz.

This ^^.  I think the "X" is overrated in crypto.  In fact I think it was overdone.  It is used on certain currency exchanges, but the rebrand is to Nexus and the economy should maintain a direct connection to Nexus in my opinion.

that was my original feedback...

i think 4 ticker -- NIRO -- would be pretty cool over any of the 3 char tickers provided

I like XNR and NIRO.  With NIR or XNR being used on decentralized exchanges that only allow 3 letters

Unless we come up with another name for rebranding CSD, but I think Niro is pretty good.  Nexus Niro's Smiley

Here's the thing about NXN.  It looks kind of cool, but it's not reflective of the asset name - unless you want to call the cryptocurrency Nixons. LOL.

It doesn't have to be three letters, but in my opinion, three letters is a standard used in currencies and to ensure consistency across exchanges for time to come, it's important to a) have a ticker that is 3 letters and b) have a ticker that reflects the asset.

3 letter tickers: XNR, NIR, NXN, NRO

4 letter tickers: NXNR, NIRO, XNIR, XNRO

I think it's good to consider the same logic that has been used by many successful players in this industry already ie: Monero (XMR), Counterparty (XCP), Ripple (XRP), and other smaller cryptos like XAI (artificial intelligence) and XQN (quotient)

XNR ensures long-term consistent recognition of the name across all types of exchanges in the future.

XNR? I like your angle at going towards just Niro, but I think this really is too similar to XMR [Monero].

As for being too similar to XMR.  Well, that won't be a problem anyways since you can't send XMR to an XNR public address.  In fact, that "confusion" could in fact play a role in helping it gain recognition
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) - Pure SHA3, Decentralized Checkpoints, CPU/GPU + PoS on: April 12, 2015, 12:32:46 AM
X usually precedes currency tickers to stand for "currency" as some "declared standard" to show no connection to a "country". That's why you'll see BTC labeled as XBT on some exchanges.

http://cointext.com/bitcoin-xbt-or-btc/
"If a currency is not associated with a country then it starts with an “X.”"

I like NXN personally, but maybe we should comply with some of these standards. What does everyone else think?

Thank You,
Viz.

I think that those standards exist for a reason... and as you can see, many successful players have chosen to utilize those standards and have been very successful.

Choosing a ticker symbol that doesn't reflect the name of the asset will make it difficult for people to make a correlation.  We are specifically talking about the Niro not the Nexus Niro.  If you want the Niro to become a household name, then choose a ticker that will reflect that asset.

We are going to be calling them Niro's and the ticker symbol is NXN.  Does that really make sense?

I would strongly urge you to consider XNR as the ticker symbol for the Niro.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) - Pure SHA3, Decentralized Checkpoints, CPU/GPU + PoS on: April 12, 2015, 12:26:56 AM
Thinking of the Denomination being The Nexus Niro: NXN for the Ticker. This would replace the name coin in every use by the word Niro, such as dollar or euro is used in other currencies.

This would make the components:
Nexus - The Peer to Peer Network
The Nexus Economy - The companies, technology, users, traders, etc. that build the body of Nexus.
The Nexus Niro - The denomination of The Nexus Economy.

[ANN] Nexus: The Niro (NXN) - Freeing people one connection at a time. Previously known as Coinshield (CSD)

Anyone have any ideas for themes / logo ? I'm thinking of starting a competition with bounty. Free Niro Anyone?  Wink
I already have a 1.0.2 re-branded to Nexus, felt it might be better release this as a 1.0.3 update with PoS as soon as we have a logo for the new theme.

Thank You,
Viz.

I would opt for XNR personally.  Just call them Niros and have a ticker symbol that reflects their name.  As X is commonly used in front of many digital currency names traded on various different exchanges (XCP, XBT, XRP, XMR)

but there is nothing "common" about Nexus,Niro or this entire groundwork that is being laid Wink no need to follow crowds, we are trendsetters.

Imagine what sounds good when you say it out loud.  NXN is not short for Niro, it's short for Nexus Niro.  XNR specifically refers to Niro. I don't see what trendsetting has to do with it. It has to do with choosing something that is easily consumable and reflects the name of the asset specifically.

NXN ---NnnnnneeeXXXXXXus NNNNNiro  ---- XNR? works for me  dont know what sound the x is supposed to be? silent?

Yes, the X is not spoken.  Like XCP (CounterParty) or XMR (Monero) or XRP (Ripples) or XBT (Bitcoin on some exchanges)

Well that's not a cryptocurrency network, that's something else completely Smiley .  Nexus is a relatively commonly used word however there is currently no actively developed cryptocurrency network that utilizes Nexus branding.
