Factom is centralized garbage. I got tricked into buying this from some guy at a conference. Now I understand "early-investors" of projects pay conferences to send their sock puppets to talk at the event and promote their public crowdsale or future investment rounds.
Factom deceived me with the word "federated" which actually means centralized.
Could we get this thing on poloniex yet? They have many other XCP tokens listed. I really want to dump this before everyone else realizes this was a bad idea and dumps.

GetGemsetc. People are fickle. If they don't start seeing huge price jumps within weeks they start selling. This has nothing to do with the underlying technology or usefulness of the project. Technical superiority doesn't always win in the market place. I guess no one will know the actual price till an actual exchange picks it up.

Hello gents. Please don't take this as FUD. Show of hands, how many people are in the hole on their investment in this project? I'm not invested in this project yet as I'm trying to figure out what exactly its' purpose is and where the value will come from. I am aware of Frankocoin which has been around for a long time and I know that defaced has been involved in the cryptosphere for a long time, so it's obvious that he's a decent developer with a reputation for coming through. But just forking Ethereum, changing hashing algorithms, and increasing the block time isn't necessarily innovation and doesn't really warrant a premine. Although I'm glad their identities are public as that adds a LOT of trust. Right now, I'm thinking 45k satoshis is fair value in the short term. Has anyone done any blockchain analysis to see where pre-mined coins have gone so far?  |

If you read below the order book, it states that it is not a public order book. It also says that the 1333 order is a place holder saying if you are going to take advantage of that price, please give us a heads up. Our hot wallet isn't holding that much and it will cause a delay. The only reason that the order book is viewable to you is that people were asking where our prices came from. We started high and are slowly lowering the price until transactions start moving. Then the buy price will start to rise. For the other coins we handle, there is a market our there to use to price things. We were (inadvertently) the first to market with automated trading on factoids. Factoids are the digital token(currency) that can be bought and sold. Factoids are used (destroyed) to create Entry Credits. If you are wanting to hold factoids for their value, great. Do Not do that with Entry credits. Once you buy them, they are attached to your address until used. Entry credits are not ours. They are part of the Factom system. They are used to enter data into the Factom service. We have done the programming necessary to have them created for you using Bitcoin. How does the future supply affect price change over the years?
That would depend on future demand, wouldn't it? Right now, it's not profitable to mine NIRO, so anyone that is mining is likely holding. This is good because it means people are investing in the current supply and are not likely selling for profit at the moment. |

then i really wonder why only $500k+ were thrown at the crowdsale..and augur has already raised almost $5M and growing :| Factom is not going to be the killer app. It is a platform/data layer. My grandmother would have no use for it. What she would have use for is an app that utilizes it. It would not surprise me if the killer app that brings blockchain to my grandmother uses Factom as part of their process. Blockchain technology is going to be in widespread use in the next few years, but most people will not even know they are using it. Do you care how your microwave works as long as your food is hot? Bitcoin automated trust. Factom can verify it. As to a small crowdsale , my opinion, Factom isn't sexy. It is useful. A year from now Auger will be doing well. Prediction markets really are sexy. To those that use them. Factom is going to be a little part of all of the big systems created out there. So, not sexy. just ubiquitous. I guess I was thinking it is a platform that can allow killer apps to be developed. It's clear now that decentralized applications are going to change the world. It will probably take decades for this industry and these networks to scale and build-out enough support that decentralized applications will pose a threat to corporations and their pseudo-monopolies. |

My only complaint with the wallet is it takes ages to load and my disk reads reaches 100% during this time. If it gets fixed it should be of great help.
I notice this with majority of wallets, surely the lite clients will help in this regard as they don't need to load the full block index. Yep, the database just takes a long time to load, but once it loads it works fine. Lite clients will fix this and I am hoping that we can eventally have a Raspberry Pi node for staking. Having a combination of two forms of mining, plus staking, is going to make this a really dynamic protocol and that's not including all of the extra features. |
