7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitfinex maniuplation on: January 26, 2015, 04:50:01 PM
The owner was already busted.
Today, every time there has been downward movement on stamp, bitfinex locks up and takes longer than usual to load, preventing a position from being taken or exited quickly.
My imagination or the owner is filling his orders first.......
I noticed the website locking up but the API did not. I guess the slowdown was caused by web traffic spike.

having trouble logging in with 2fa....

Incorrect one-time token. Please try again.

Anyone else? I tried numerous times on PC and phone.
It works fine for me.
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is VPN enough to hide IP? on: January 18, 2015, 04:12:14 AM
If you want to hide something what you do online. Buy a cheap disposable laptop clean install, a powerful wifi antenna can reach up to 20 km, use tor/trusted vpn, do it away from your home, do it on a populated city. Don't trust too much, if your adversary is from powerful organization they will know sooner or later what you are doing.

...these exist? I've never heard of them. Can you elaborate?

(but 20km is very optimistic)

If you want to hide your IP from Bitcointalk then a VPN is sufficient. If you want to hide from a global adversary then even Tor might not be sufficient.

16  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: all4btc.com - buy all amazon products with bitcoins on: November 14, 2014, 05:43:48 PM
Any major order change like shipping address should be signed by the Bitcoin address that was used to make the purchasse.

I was on an untrusted network when I made the purchasse and did not think that a VPN was necessary since the site has HTTPS. HTTPS is fine against network sniffing but not against interception of the unique order page link. I was suprised to see the amount of information that could be leaked and that support ticket are not forwarded to email by default. This page should at least be password protected.

I guess the actual system is more convenient for most users but I thought necessary to point that weakness. This is only constructive criticism and will not stop me from using your website again.
17  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: all4btc.com - buy all amazon products with bitcoins on: November 14, 2014, 05:27:35 AM
I had to change my laptop while travelling Europe. Bought a laptop for 1400 euros on Amazon via all4btc.

The process took a little bit more time than I expected since they had to wait for SEPA transfer before processing my order. Meanwhile, I had to move from Germany to France and had to contact their support. They provided very good online and phone support in both english and german. The whole process including delivery took 8 days which I still find pretty good. It is much faster and slighlty cheaper to buy directly from Amazon but they don't accept Bitcoin...

My only disapointement is that they don't have the bankroll for large purchasse and this cause processing delay... However, I am very satisfied by their service and got a killer laptop.

Thank you!

EDIT: The website has insuficient privacy protection and some security flaw in my opinion. The problem is that once an order get confirmed you get a link that contains purchasse, order status and personnal information. This page is unprotected and any observing adversary get the name and delivery address by simply visiting that link. This page also let you contact support directly and show previous support message history. It could then be possible to change the delivery address since there is no verification that the support request is made from the legitimate buyer. Support message forwarding to email is optional and not enabled by default making this attack trivial. If email forwarding has been enabled then you can simply call them directly. I asked to a german speaking friend to call for me to change delivery address but it could have been a social engineering attack as well. Security should be increased.
18  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: PHP - Bidcoind check for new transactions. on: September 09, 2014, 04:28:37 AM
I wonder if this snippet could help:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/env php

/* depends on: */
/* php5-curl */
/* https://github.com/aceat64/EasyBitcoin-PHP */

<?php
require_once 'include/easybitcoin.php';

$min_confirm 6;
$bitcoinrpc_user 'bitcoinrpc';
$bitcoinrpc_pass 'bitcoinrpc_pass';
$bitcoinrpc_host 'localhost';
$bitcoinrpc_port '8332'

if (
$argc != || strlen($argv[1]) != 64)
  {
    echo
"usage:$argv[0] tx\n";
    die();
  }

$tx $argv[1];
$file "/tmp/".md5($tx);
$lock fopen($file"w+");

if (
flock($lockLOCK_EX LOCK_NB))
  {

fwrite($lock$tx);
  }
else
  {
    echo
"Process already running for same tx, exiting\n";
    die();
  }

$bitcoin = new Bitcoin($bitcoinrpc_user$bitcoinrpc_pass$bitcoinrpc_host$bitcoinrpc_port);
$bitcoin->gettransaction($tx);

if (
$bitcoin->status != 200)
  {
    echo
"Error: $bitcoin->error\n";
    die();
  }

if (
$bitcoin->response['result']['details'][0]['category'] === "receive")
  {
    while (
1)
      {

$bitcoin->gettransaction($tx);

$address =$bitcoin->response['result']['details'][0]['address'];

$amount  =$bitcoin->response['result']['amount'];

$confirm =$bitcoin->response['result']['confirmations'];

        echo
"$address -> $amount confirmations:$confirm\n";

        if (
$confirm >= $min_confirm)
          {
            echo
"$min_confirm or more confirmations for $tx\n";

$payment = array("address" => $address"tx" => $tx"amount" => $amount);

/****************************************** Process tx stored in $payment here ******************************************/

die();
          }

sleep(30); // Check number of confirmations every 30sec.

}
  }

?>

The infinite loop has to be modified so it won't loop to infinity when getting a tx from a yet to be orphaned block.

Then you only need to add this line to bitcoin.conf to trigger the script for each new tx that is affecting the wallet:
Code:
walletnotify=/path_to/script.php %s
