201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you are supposed to pay tax on mining profit how about expenses? on: February 23, 2018, 10:18:32 PM
I'm just gonna say two words and leave a little link.

Voluntary Compliance

This will only go to reinforce how corrupt our government is; and how twisted some people can make the actual definition of two words be 100% the opposite of its english definition.

*edit*  mind you there is no federal law or statute that requires you to pay a tax, or imposes a penalty for not paying said tax.   It's the tax code;  that does impose these things;  which the tax code itself is 100% not a federal law or statute.  It's a code of rules 100% in its own realm written by a private corporation.

as a side note:
Apple inc and the likes pay about lower end single digit tax with tax haven countries. Words are that they might be paying about 1-5% income tax, compare it to you whopping 20-40% income tax!
once your company's income surpasses 300,000$ it starts to decrease from 39% to all the way to 25% range. It pays to be rich and poor but not a middle class!!

204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you are supposed to pay tax on mining profit how about expenses? on: February 21, 2018, 11:20:20 PM
every time i think about paying taxes for crypto i want to throw up. for mining i'm not so worried, but the fact that i'm going to be taxed on trading one coin for another makes me sick.

that is gross.
205  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: looked at bitcoind source and looks like a shitcode on: February 21, 2018, 09:58:43 PM
i dont remember which files it was code to code from first to last lines.
I wish I could contribute but now working on my own mining coin steering platform to be hosted on http server and I am putting my full effort on that. I am planning to make it public in hopes of getting people adopted and most likely be a free to use.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you are supposed to pay tax on mining profit how about expenses? on: February 21, 2018, 09:33:19 PM
What gets me most is not the fact I have to pay tax or reasonable tax rate, it is complication and vagueness and time-consuming aspect of filing a crypto tax. For conventional income I finished my tax last few years within 1-2 hours of time using taxact software in which it does everything for me for flat fee of around 50-100$. Much faster and convenient, but for crypto, hell no!!
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you are supposed to pay tax on mining profit how about expenses? on: February 21, 2018, 08:16:22 PM

They will be far more forgiving if they just disagree with your calculations rather then if they see you're making no attempt to keep records at all. Wink

There is not one single thing about the I.R.S. that the words "forgiving" could aptly be used in the same sentence. You can have all the documentation in the world and send it to them registered mail, receive a signature receipt and it will find its way into the trash bin and you will still be responsible. They have no accountability to the taxpayer what so ever. They are simply there to receive a paycheck and could not give one rats ass about you on an individual basis.

Just my opinion .....

i agree, sort of.

I am seriously about forking another branch of bitcoin, but no code only comments.
The fork will be called bitcoinComment.
209  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / looked at bitcoind source and looks like a shitcode on: February 21, 2018, 08:38:53 AM
Truth be told i am a fun of bitcoin and other crypto technology but utterly disappointed by the quality of code.
There was not even single line of documentation all of the few files I peeked through. In several of the technology companies I worked, code without proper comments along header was considered to be a garbage and not worth a single cent. There are lot of philosophy behind making a good coding practice which I can not start over here, it is even taught in CS101.

irs is eager to collect tax on mining profit which is understandable and fair as stock traders to pay a hefty sum. But how about loss and business expenses?
You buy a very expense gpu at 800$ and then you havent managed to cover your purchase cost at the end of year then you got taxed, can you use it as an business expense?

I am thinking to go sole proprietar on this one.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: anyone 3d printing the mining rig frame? sick and tired of building one on: February 20, 2018, 05:12:34 AM
havent researched it yet. I saw bundle of wires at fry that fed into printer.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: leaving home with 5 gpu miners paranoid of fire safety on: February 19, 2018, 06:31:02 PM
further thought: Smiley))
- Construct a wireless remote controller mini-toy-car on which mount the camera and the fire extinqguisher.
- Mount fire extinguisher will need some actuator arm to be able to spray and direct the foam in case of fire.
- Both cam and remote toy car will need to have enough batteries or home-in to charging station for replenishment like zoomba vacuum cleaner.
- SMS or email or siren or any combination thereof that can send off notification regarding environment temperature exceeding pre-set level.
- wi-fi Remotely controlled doorlock so in case of fire, neighrborhood or fire enginer personnel can enter withou breaking door.
- Home internet is not perfect and someimes goes offline completely in which case you have to walk up to router to reset it manually. So plug in the router to smart wall socket and schedule 5 minutes of power-off during midnight to reset in case if happens. With that max off-time is a week.

After that I think I can sleep as if I have completely turned off everything.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: leaving home with 5 gpu miners paranoid of fire safety on: February 19, 2018, 06:25:23 PM
This is a bad idea.  If you can't have someone access your rigs while you are gone I would not leave it running.

If you have Windows 10 running and have NOT disabled automatic updates you may as well shut your rigs down now.

If you are determined to leave them up and running dial the clocks down, set temperature and power thresholds down.  This will extend the life of your machines and potentially avoid burnt out fans and power supplies.
i am running centos linux.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: anyone 3d printing the mining rig frame? sick and tired of building one on: February 19, 2018, 06:24:45 PM
I don’t buy off eBay. I make them myself it’s so easy. 21 feet of 3/4 angled aluminum is only $20. That will build you 2 rigs. It’s so sturdy and aluminum is good for heat dissipation. No brainer
i dont wanna build it, i just wanna print it now.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [2018-02-12]Bitmain To Release Ethereum ASIC Miner F3 With 72Gb DDR3 Dram In Q2 on: February 18, 2018, 07:20:49 PM
Wonder what Ethereum developers will do if it turns out to be true? If you develop something specifically to be ASIC resistant, obviously IMHO you don’t want ASICS mining your coin. If someone makes an ASIC anyways, knowing you don’t want them mining your creation, then fork your coin and make their ASICs bricks. They will think twice about doing it again.

You must be a troll correct? Their asics can act like a video card concerning algorithms, even if eth devs change the algorithm, their asics can still mine the algorithm. I advise you trolls get to reality and stop paying $1000 for a rx 580, What got you trolls on this situation are yourselves.

I doubt they would have created an asic for ethash if rx 580 was selling for $180, like it used to be before the bullshit.

LOL... Troll... No.... Opinionated... Yes.... I've worked in I.T. for quite a while, so please elaborate when you say the ASIC can act like a video card??? Never heard of an ASIC capable of doing ANY algorithm because they don't exist. A true ASIC is purpose built to do one specific thing in a very fast and efficient manner... If it can adapt to multiple algos it sounds more like an FPGA to me.

dont listen to this metroid trolls all he does is scream around the forum to make baseless, ignorant trolls to confuse newcomers.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: for 2X PSU are you doing paperclip method? on: February 17, 2018, 09:05:46 PM
I am tired of looking around PSU with 6x or more gpu connector. There seems to be second PSU can easily be turned on using paperclip method. Is that how most miners do it?
3 month I have been doing it using a paperclip, The lack of this way is If our PSUs efficiency not so good the 12 V cable will not produce the right Voltage. So we need to create dummy load for 5V cable to make sure the PSUs produce the right Voltage. will better your using relay tool such as add2Psu.

I am seeming to have problem with this. AFter running about 7-8 hours suddenly whole thing just turned off. Both PSU wont power on. Waited about 5 minutes and hacked PSU will now turn on as if it came out of some sort of shock. The main PSU still not powering on. I hope I did not fry something, either way it is load of extra work. I have never seen this during 4-5 months operation. I can plug in some SATA HDD to give some dummy load, but forgot it is 12v or 5v, too lazy to get up and check it while I am typing. Smiley

DId some t-shooting, it appears motherboard has been shot, h81 btc pro. It wont power up or power up momentarily then will shut off. One of the small PSU looks OK, I am ruling out bigger power supply been damaged but not tested yet. Sad

i had 750w PSU which i did it just fine. But i had thermaltake toughpower 1200w and paperclip is not working. Yes i certainly connected #16 green to one of the ground and will not power up. Plus all cables are black so was tricky. I did 5-6 tries on 2 1200w toughpower psu only one time it powered up and then no more. I think I will get small PSU since I dont need huge one.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: for 2X PSU are you doing paperclip method? on: February 17, 2018, 06:05:56 PM
The paperclip method will keep the secondary PSU always on. You need to manually flip the switch on the PSU to turn it off. I prefer to use a dual ATX splitter cable. That will keep the primary PSU in sync with the secondary PSU so they turn on/off together and also connects the grounds on both PSU's together.

thanks, that is what i observed.
