i received the email too for claiming my virtual credit card.
is this virtual card just for online shopping? only online payment i mean?
i thought we got the plastic card  Grin

The contest was for a virtual card, and yes only for online shoppings or payments. You can upgrade it to a platic card, but you will have to pay for it.

There were 10 plastic cards as prizes in the contest for the first top ten who have more entries.
I received an email with the instructions to get the virtual card and it should work today.

Received a free virtual E-coin card but unable to claim it as I forgot the password to my e-coin account.Actually I don't remember signing up on the actual website but for the contest.I'm waiting for password reset link since 24 hours now.

The reset message should receive you in seconds ! Are you sure you registered in the site not only the promo page ?

Bitcoin Trucks On While Traditional Financial Ecosystem Burns To The Ground

Throughout the years, Bitcoin has often been chastised for its price volatility. While it is true big losses and big gains were possible in the Bitcoin world at just about every turn, the digital currency has come to maturity over the past twelve months. At the same time, well-established traditional financial markets are plummeting to the ground and even deeper. All of this makes one wonder where the true volatility lies, and which people should be frowned upon.

Bitcoin Price Gains; Target Hit!

Half way through the afternoon session in Europe yesterday, we published our intraday analysis for the bitcoin price. We hypothesized that, by virtue of both a key resistance level and a sloping channel, that a break to the upside would give us some nice bullish momentum, and that 460 flat was a reasonable, yet conservative target on a long position in such a scenario. Action has now matured overnight, and we are about one hour into a fresh European session on Friday. There’s still plenty of volatility to be taken advantage of today it seems, and as usual, we are expecting further movement over the weekend. So, with this said, let’s have a look at the action we saw in the bitcoin price overnight, see whether our targets were valid and, finally, try to ascertain which of our strategies is most suited to the action we expect during today’s European session and beyond. First up, get a quick look at the chart to see what we’re dealing with.

European Exchange Bitstamp Hit with DDoS Attack, BTC-e Has Hardware Issues

European bitcoin exchange Bitstamp reports that it experienced a distributed denial of service (DDoS) cyber attack, according its post on Twitter.

It appears though that Bitstamp was able to get back online within a short amount of time.

Yesterday, another cryptocurrency exchange, BTC-e, was knocked offline by a DDoS attack.

The exchange, which is based in Bulgaria and allows users to trade bitcoin, Litecoin, and Namecoin, for Dollars, Euros and Rubles, was still having some occasional interruptions today, apparently resulting from hardware problems.

Fiat To Gold Yes, BTC To Gold Not So Easy

Bitstamp, one of the biggest bitcoin exchanges, adds gold withdrawal option for their customers in the EU. Gold price is quoted only in US dollars and one must also have an available balance in USD. Moro & Kunst, a Slovenian precious metals dealer, provides delivery of physical gold produced by well known brands Argor Heraeus in Switzerland and Münze Österreich in Austria. Fully insured shipment should be delivered to a customer’s address within two to five business days after ordering.

Although a gold withdrawal option is not such a ground-breaking innovative step in the bitcoin industry, it's good that customers of this big exchange have another way that they can relatively safely move funds out of the exchange. “For centuries, gold has proved to be a timeless and exceedingly valuable source of capital preservation due to its unwavering value. Additionally, gold has always been an efficient hedge against inflation and currency risks,“ Bitstamp admits the importance of another hard asset in its announcement.

768  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who will be selling at 450 range (today) on: January 08, 2016, 11:42:55 AM
No! I would never recommend selling so low. I don't have a full btc. Would be tempting, but ffs, hold! The only reason I would ever sell is because I

need it NOW for food or something URGENT. I do spend a little of the btc on a debit card, but hold some for other times. Now WHY did you sell so low?

The sellers think that 450 is the highest point that the price will reach this year. Which I believe is not true.
This year has a lot of events and good news that will drive the price much higher

Will Egypt’s Banking Institutions Create Increased Bitcoin Popularity?

Authorities and banking institutions are tightening their grips on people’s wealth all around the globe. Threatening citizens with invasive practices with quite a bit of focus directed at protectionism and anti-laundering maneuvers. Just recently the Prime Minister of the UK, David Cameron, spoke of monitoring methods to help curb people avoiding taxation. This problem is growing worldwide, and financial institutions are also playing ball with austerity measures. The Al Baraka Bank of Egypt just announced its SAS’ Anti-Money Laundering (AML) solution and launched the platform at all of it’s branches.

Logo-lowBanks are making it harder and more complicated daily for ordinary citizens to move their wealth around. This is one solid piece of evidence to why protocols like Bitcoin are gaining popularity and how people are avoiding draconian policies with non-banking methods. The Al Baraka Bank wants to keep people funds in the eyes of government as they feel the regulation process is getting technical and sophisticated. “The growing complexity of today’s regulatory environment both locally and internationally has been a key factor to implement SAS FATCA solution within the bank. The solution enabled us to effectively meet complex financial and regulatory requirements including streamlining our reporting process by automatically submitting the reports directly to International Revenue Service” said Adel Mohammed Ahmed Elalem, CIO, Al Baraka Bank of Egypt. The bank partnered with SAS and Data Gear to apply FACTA solutions to the operating locations within the region.

Gemini’s Winklevoss: ‘Institutionalization’ Of Bitcoin Trading Has Begun

Gemini is one of two exchanges regulated as a financial services entity by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), the other being itBit.

NYDFS granted trust charters to itBit and Gemini, both of which are based in New York. They can operate in all U.S. states as fully-regulated financial services entities and are exempt from the NYDFS BitLicense regulations the state enacted last year.

Some observers have theorized that mainstream investors, as opposed to day traders, would bring stability to bitcoin’s price.

Regardless of its massive potential in the region, bitcoin awareness in India is still somewhat low. Zebpay, a bitcoin wallet and exchange aims to change this. In fact, recent reports indicate that the company has managed to raise $1 million private investors, which will be used to support the digital currency in the region.

According to the company, the chief managing director of Claris Life Sciences has offered Rs 3 crore, the managing director of Jindal Worldwide has invested Rs 1 crore, whereas the chairman of Triangle Engineering has invested Rs 1 crore.

Zebpay will use a significant part of the currency to develop the blockchain system in the region. This will be achieved by setting up a dedicated blockchain laboratory, which will allow the company to use the technology’s power to come up with innovative authentication and authorization measures. According to the company, another part of the investment will be used to promote bitcoin, while also enlisting e-vouchers on their mobile platforms, to expand their user base from 25,000 to 100k within one year.

While the legal status of Bitcoin in India is still uncertain, it’s worth pointing out that while the Reserve Bank of India considers that Bitcoin poses risks, they agree with the blockchain, and believe that it can greatly improve the current state of the world’s financial system, by lowering

Bitcoin Price: Classical Pattern Targets Big Upside

So in yesterday’s bitcoin price watch piece, we noted that action over the last week or so has been subdued in the majority of the financial asset markets as a result of the holiday season, and that the low volume we have seen in the bitcoin space suggests a mirroring of this trend. We also noted, however, that things seem to be getting back to normal this week, and we are likely to see some volatility going forward. We are currently mid way through the European afternoon, and the bitcoin price looks to be relatively unstable. As things stand, this makes it pretty tough to form a conclusive intraday bias. Having said this, there are a few things we can look at to try and gain some insight into the likely action throughout the rest of today’s session and as we head into tonight’s Asian action. So, with this said, let’s take a look at our different strategic approaches, and see which of them works based as a response to any movement we get going forward. As always, take a quick look at the chart below to get an idea of what today’s key levels are, and where they fit into the grand scheme of intraday action.

Beyond Bitcoin: ‘Blockchain is Coming to Disrupt Your Industry,’ Says Deloitte

The most popular thing about blockchain that we have been facing over and over again sounds like “this technology is able to turn this world around”. One more expert opinion comes from Deloitte University Press. The source, known for original articles, reports, and periodicals concerning business, public sector and NGOs, advices to speed on blockchain as “the technology can potentially make a great many things more secure and accountable: financial transactions, micropayments, IoT applications, health records, corporate audits, and more”. Some time ago Deloitte has partnered with the Israeli coloured coins startup Colu to boost the use of the blockchain technology in different sectors.
