It's the travel business. Guaranteed profits you know. Because... who doesn't like to travel to exotic places?

Don't be so picky and go all in, you are missing the train!

I just bought a bunch with my credit card. Should be able to lock in some pretty sweet profits before my bill is due.
Missing this opportunity of a lifetime  would be an unforgiving mistake.

This tweet from Charlie Lee has surprised me:

https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/997978007875670016

He was millionaire before Bitcoin? Surprising. Anyone knows what he was doing before?

I think he worked at google right?

That would make for it yeah. Also probably he is older than he looks like (in fact in recent pictures he does).

If you read that twitter stream, to this day Charlie doesn't consider Litecoin a scam.

But often we need to reconsider what the definition of a scam truly is.

I mean, to make Litecoin he literally took a snapshot of the Bitcoin source code, changed like 2 easily-found config parameters, and launched it. And he admitted that it took him all of like a long Saturday to change and test it. He put almost zero effort into creating Litecoin. He created an altcoin of Bitcoin with a few clicks of a mouse. What he did, anyone could literally do with enough knowledge of the code.

So what part about that process and goal isn't scammy? Today when people do that with the Bitcoin source, we say that they're doing it for scammy or selfish purposes. But for some reason we give Charlie a pass because he's a nice guy, Bitcoin proponent, and no longer holds any LTC. (Little known fact: he once DID hold a metric shitload of LTC and probably made a million dollars selling some before LTC even hit $0.20c)

Changing the algorithm from SHA256d to SCRYPT was a little more involved than changing a couple of parameters. But yes, something like this could definitely be done in 24 hours.
The creation of Litecoin stems from the emerging of more and more scamcoins like GeistGeld, ixcoin, Tenebix, Solidcoin....
To counteract Tenebixes 7.7 million premine  Faircoin was launched. Basically a 100% copy minus the premine, done in an instand. It was a rushed job just to deal with it. From then with a proper announcement and a little bit more work and thought Litecoin emerged. The prelaunch thread had 5000 views and a vote for best launch time (4 options).

The Egg of Columbus comes to mind. That's why nobody else did it and people that saw it early had all kinds of objections... "An egg of Columbus or Columbus's egg refers to a brilliant idea or discovery that seems simple or easy after the fact." A million bitcoins is the least he deserves. His "invention" is worth more than that if in the end, we have free money.

+1

I totally agree. I hope he becomes the richest man on earth. What Satoshi was able to come up with on his own was truly remarkable.

Quote
I actually believe what Satoshi came up with IS brilliant. And that's why I think he may not be one person. It takes someone who is great at math, economics, and computer science to come up with this. And his solution is also very thorough. I'm really surprised to see such a complete solution in a version 1 product. Know what I mean? When someone comes up with something this novel, normally, the first attempt will crash and burn. So I give Satoshi a lot of credit. He deserves every single bitcoin he owns.

Apparently this. Moving from Shanghai at that time would not have been a straight forward process.

Lee was born in the Ivory Coast to parents who had moved there from Shanghai. He spent most of his childhood there, but in his early teens, he moved to the United States. He attended the Lawrenceville School before graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a B.S. and master’s degree in Computer Science.

After college, Lee worked as a software engineer at Kana Communications, Guidewire Software, and Google before starting his crypto career.

Coinmarket always track the various crypto currency but they block bitcoins because they are changing their system they calculated also some company refuse to accept bitcoin so coinmarket try to manipulate the market so bitcoin will recover this very soon because bitcoin is one of the best crypto currency system.
if coinmarkketcap uses its capabilities to harm users of crypto currency, then we need to look for another resource for extracting information about different coins. Who can advise what? There is still such a resource so coincodex.
Yes there are lots:

Here is 10 alternatives to Coinmarketcap

worldcoinindex

athcoinindex

Onchainfx

Bitinfocharts

Cryptocompare

Coincheckup

Coincodex

Coingecko

Coincap

Coinlib

......................................

There are literally 20,000 bank coins created a day. This one doesn't even rate in the top million.
No, not that many exist with 200 plus banks using it.

There is a few interesting bits. They are desperate to call it a blockchain even so they only have a database with servers on different locations.
They operate in a strict private matter where only sender and receiver see details, so private coins is full steam ahead, if its good enough for them it is good enough for me to know who is sent bitcoins to. Bitcoin will have improved private features in times to come.
Its also acknowledgment of the way forward from current broken system.

You know i have a international payment pending since April 6, yes a month and a half. I have confirmation letter from my bank it was sent on 6th, can see it when i log in to online banking and numerous phone calls to bank confirmation that receiving bank has my money.
Receiving bank (Agricultural Bank of China) has to date not credited beneficiary account nor responded to any of the three messages sent from my bank to get in touch. Couple of days ago i did contact financial ombudsman, no reply so far. Meantime container gets hit with demurage penalties daily, how sic is that.
System is broken alright.

How much effect on the market will this Corda thing have, a distributed ledger database (sames as Ripple)
It is not invest able and want be found on Coinmarketcap. Made by the Banks for the Banks not public viewable, trade-able.

189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $12000 to invest in long term. Which coin? :D on: May 17, 2018, 06:33:27 PM
In the long term (five or more years) coin emission rate must be better than fiats inflation.
One of the main reasons of crypto is to the escape the yearly wealth loss with fiat through inflation.
190  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2018, 03:29:54 PM
I wonder where r0ach is getting the energy from to do what he's doing. He clearly has 0 followers, noone rarely agrees with him and he is being bashed nonstop. Or does he really think he is smarter than everyone else and he is genuinely trying to convert us from stupidity of cryptoworld to the high intelligence of silver trading? Lol.

Just wondering, maybe I should take a book of psychology to understand someone who seems smart but is so utterly stupid.

Many woulda-been, coulda-been Bitcoin millionaires become bitter, anti-Bitcoin zealots.
Yeah, and I’m sure he’s probably hoarding a kilo bar of silver that he paid like 50btc for back in the day.
He be like...
“Ha! , I just paid some sucker 50 worthless bitcoins for a kilo of silver that’s gonna be worth
half a million$ someday!.....”
You know at the time it was very hard to let go of the shine coins/bars to exchange for something not touchable. Followed one of those gold bugs sides religiously and  at some stage got convinced silver is the real future. Eventually sold  95% of the gold for a small loss and got stuck with the silver as the losses where to high it thought, eventually i did get rid of it. Not so long ago i wanted to dump (at any price) the last 1,25 kg and i could not find it in a short time i had available. Someday i am sure i will get a sandwich for it. The only once profiting form silver is dealers and government with the high tax.
There are times selling at a loss is the right move and this was one, risky yes, with all the doggy exchanges around, all the uncertainties with crypto.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: in 2020 wich one will be higher bitcoin or ethereum ? on: May 17, 2018, 02:55:53 PM
Lol, 2020 Bitcoin halves again, then the coin emission rate is only 1.6%, four years later half again..........
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: May 15, 2018, 06:45:32 PM
Its a road to no-where because of the inflationary structure. Anything similar to fiat is doomed in the long run.
Lets face it we are in crypto to escape the 2.x% loss of wealth year after year.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Suspicious of the Crypto Market: Why must all the Coins go RED at the same time? on: May 15, 2018, 02:40:21 PM
Of course the whole thing is rigged.
Just look at xrp and doge, two complete different projects, ideologies purpose.....
One is a central company coin the other decentralize blockchain
One is mineable the other a 100% premined never ending ICO
One has permanent development the other occasionally written a line of code
One is serious the other a mime joke

There is zero reason that they have the same price movement, but:

195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why so many Bitcoin users have fear of governments? on: May 15, 2018, 06:59:59 AM
There is the once contend with slavery and there is the once fighting to free themselves from tyrannical powers.
Government = govern your mind. Enough of the brain washing international free thinkers unite.
To be born and think i owe somebody something is insanity.
196  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 15, 2018, 06:53:40 AM
Well that was a big squeeze a 400$ increase in just 15 minutes shows signs of Bitcoin's strength and its bulls are showing that they are no pushover when it comes to price action. 9,000$- 9,200$ is the next target if we have stayed above 8,800 to confirm that we broke it. The bull flag is looking good and reaching that target has a high chance because of the increasing volume as well.  If the RSI on the daily trend will hit double bottom in 40 this will confirm BTC is going on the bullish side.

Ranging between the daily 50 MA and 200 MA is just noise. Your confirmation is daily price breaking through the 200 MA, testing and holding.

Both daily 50 MA and 200 MA seems to be rising, next week 50MA will be around $8500 and 200MA will be $10300.

Maybe the price will bounce between $9000 and $10000 for a while...
Oh no stable price for a some time, doom
