61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker: hands analysis, useful stuff and general discussions on: March 17, 2018, 11:00:16 AM
I've been looking for a thread like this for a long time. Thanks for the work. As a poker player I need to say that I'm quite familiar with almost all of the resources you posted here, and I consider them top-notch! I've actually started developing my poker game once I went to pokerstrategy.com. I will definitely keep an eye on this thread, to see how hand analysis will go.

I will also link this thread to my "merit give away thread", to help promote it.
I will leave you that thread here, please stop by and share any other good threads like this one, if you happen to know them.

62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Anonymity on: March 17, 2018, 10:52:19 AM
You are absolutely right, and that's why people that actually value anonymity over everything else are using monero. That is also the reason why those saying that bitcoin is used for illegal activities are just wrong, because privacy is very important for those cases, and once again, people prefer to use monero if they want to stay hidden.

I have no problem with bitcoin they way it is now. You can always use a lot of addresses, in order to increase the level of anonymity. That will also keep fees lower, so you have all the incentives in using several addresses for different transactions. Everything is still tracked, but it's harder.

Finally, bitcoin anonymity will improve a lot with the lightning network, because you can make several transactions inside a channel, and only the "final" transaction will be recorded in the blockchain (once the channel is closed), so people wont be able to trace your activity, and that is good.
63  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Ideas of how to get the maximum trading profit on: March 17, 2018, 10:45:58 AM
I was thinking on some news i read a couple days ago some news about the bitcoin price manipulation. What would happen if we make a coordinated trading whit a high number of tradings partners  explaining better buying and selling at the same time with all  tradings partners  buying will grow up the price and selling will down the price in some way the price will be predictable it could work better in low price cryptocurrency like NXT on USDT to manipulate the cryptocurrencys price a high amount of money is  necessary  but if we dont have a high amount of money we need many tradings partners operating at the same time it could get the maximum profit for all please tell me if it could work

That would be almost like a pump and dump group, but that is illegal and I don't really think that would be good for crypto, since we want to legitimize crypto, and using it in illegal manners wont get us there. Of course there are trading groups, where people try to analyze the market together, an eventually follow each others tips, and although that might end up being almost the same, it's different in principal and not illegal.

@zakero thanks for sharing. Most of the posts are in spammy threads, but I did manage to find two threads that I ended up participating in. One of them got me to a new resource, so I gave you merit for that.

@cheefbuza thanks for sharing. I will look into that site, but when I mentioned sports betting I was hoping in threads with discussion about betting strategy etc. Not really new houses to place my bets. I haven't tried decentralized bookies yet and they don't seem very popular right now, but it's definitely a concept that I need to look into.

@vova_angel thanks for sharing, I will look into it.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the government ban bitcoin? on: March 17, 2018, 10:32:48 AM
Government or governments will never be able to ban Bitcoin. This is because the industry is just too big to get rid of. There is a high demand for it and as long as there is demand, it will survive no matter what. Governments can only regulate it. Besides this, it is not a wise idea for governments to try to even ban Bitcoin or crypto currency. Because thousands of companies employ hundreds of thousands of employees and banning it will just deteriorate their unemployment rate.

I guess I agree with you, and I would also point out that if governments attempt to ban bitcoin it would probably backfire and make crypto even more popular. Also people would probably start using it underground, and it would be even harder for them to control it. Their best approach is to try to regulate like you said. If they do that, it will be less appealing for people to try to do it off radars. They will start seeing that if they obey regulation they will probably pay some taxes, but they will have no problems in using it. If they try to go underground and get caught they will be risking more than the taxes they should be paying, so there is no good risk/reward ration in going underground. If governments regulate crypto this way, then everyone wins.
66  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Teach me how to trade on: March 17, 2018, 10:28:23 AM
If you want to take a course then take a look at babypips.com. they provide a good lesson on forex trading which is similar to crypto trading. Learn what the indicators are and play with them in tradingview. Also go through YouTube to understand trading strategies with indicators. Lastly, be patient.

I already have some experience in trading but I'm still in the learning phase, so I will take a look to that site, thanks for sharing.
Since you seem to know site with articles and courses on trading, do you by chance know any sites like pokerstrategy.com but for trading? My poker skill improved a lot once I start using that site, and the best thing is that they offer you a bankroll so you can start playing with real money while you read the courses. Sou not only you can start learning, buy you can also start playing with real money for free. It would be great if there were trading courses like that. Do you know any?
67  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I finally figured out why crypto has gone up so much in price on: March 15, 2018, 11:20:04 AM
Well I can't say I don't agree with you. The market did went up quite a lot, even though nothing had changed in a fundamental point of view. Maybe people where buying because of the increase in awareness, and they thought it had potencial, but what you said is truem and crypto probably got overbought.

Now we have the exact opposite going on. Crypto is actually evolving in a technological point of view, and even the improvements in terms of regulation are good. And we see the price going down like crazy. Again, maybe crypto got overbought, and now, even though it has improved (LN is near, etc), the price is still dropping.

I must agree with you. People are just being dumb and gambling without even trying to know how crypto is doing. Hopefully this will change in the future. Let's face it, crypto has potencial, and institutional investors will probably see that and buy when they see that crypto will be able to fulfill it's true potencial. It's sad though, because this was the first "asset" that reached retail investors before institutional investors, so if retail investors were smart, they would not give away their advantage with irrational selling. Unfortunately this is what is happening right now.
68  Economy / Economics / Re: List of Decentralized/Centralized Exchanges on: March 15, 2018, 11:10:11 AM
Nice thread man, I had not idea we had so many decentralized exchanges already. I used etherdelta from time to time, and I already new about IDEX and Bisq, although I haven't tried those last two yet. I heard bisq is planning on having fiat on their platform, which would be great, because right now, no DEX does that.

I also hear that binance is looking at the market and thinking about decentralized exchanges. Don't know if they will going to become completely decentralized, or if they will just create a test product or something like that, but they seem to be looking into it, and they said that they see DEX as being part do the future, so they are probably serious about this.
69  Economy / Gambling / Re: HYBRID BETTING - A very different betting platform on: March 15, 2018, 11:05:37 AM
I actually agree with piloder. This should be in the altcoin section, simply because they don't have a working platform yet, so right now this is just an ICO announcement. I also wished the whitepaper had more details. I followed the link provided here, but it mostly talks about the sale itself and not the project. Remembering the performance achieved by ehterdelta, and crypto kitties, I wonder if this will be as slow, and that could be a problem, specially if they intend to have live betting. I also didn't understood if this in practice will be a betting platform like betfair for example, or if it will be different.

I watched the video, and saw the whitepaper like I said, but there is not enough information about the project itself in my opinion. Also, a beta platform would be great, so we could start testing the product, but I don't think that is planned, at least I don't see it in their roadmap.

Curious about the project though.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling: Culture on: March 15, 2018, 10:37:46 AM
Have you ever wonder why even there are a lot of negative things gambling bought, it still doesnt leave us ? Is that so, gambling has been a part of our culture , even you have plenty or not. Rich people often socialize in the form of casino, while the poor are contented on country games with lower bets. I, as a person living on a third world country, witnessed how gambling form our culture. Town celebrations or "fiesta" are not complete without low cost gambling houses called "perya" where you can bet starting from almost $.02 and above. Every corner of the street has some kids playing coin games and even a wake makes its company awake using card games. Weird isnt it? How about in your country?

I don't think it's weird at all. It's just like you said, gambling is deeply connected to culture, and we know that because gambling has been with man from several generations, and affects all ages. We do see children playing with coins, or cards, or marbles, and they gamble it. It's not money, but it's still gambling. To be honest I think it's deeply connected to man in a behavioral manner, and not just culture, because all cultures have different types of gambling, so it's something that will always exist. It will probably assume different forms though ages, depending on culture, but gambling will always exist because man needs to gamble. It's part of his natural being.
71  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Try to recover loss on: March 14, 2018, 02:17:22 PM
Previous few month we see all altcoin price is decrease. So at this time how I recover my loss.I decided one think,I want to sell my all altcoin now.And try to start trade and recovery again. It's possible? Can I do this.Tell me your opinion, can do or not?

There is no problem with what you are trying to do, but please understand that trading is actually quite hard, otherwise everyone would do it.
I think there is a huge sell out pressure right now, because someone, or more likely a group of people with a lot of coins, are timing their sell outs to keep the price down, or maybe to create some panic and then buy at a smaller price. There is nothing you can do about it, and it's hard to beat them, because if we have very thin and unregulated markets, so it's easy for those guys to manipulate it.

Another option is to do nothing, and just wait. Put all your coins into bitcoin or ethereum, and forget about price movements. Development is happening, so with it, will come adoption. Once that happens the market will no longer be manipulated.
72  Economy / Economics / Re: Why decentralized money system is needed on: March 14, 2018, 02:08:05 PM
I completely agree with the need for decentralization. Governments call for decentralization in their own country, usually related to the services they offered. In my country most services were held in the capital, and now the want to make them available all over the country. They are still owned by the government, but they are ruled by decentralized entities, in each town.

I know that this is different, but it proves the point that decentralization is important to make services more efficient and fair. I think it's the same thing about money. It can't be controlled by banks. and it shouldn't be tied to governments as well, because when they crash, there goes the value of that coin as well.

This is not fair for the citizens that own the coin, and need it to live. A decentralized monetary system, is more efficient and fair.

I do believe in paying taxes, defending decentralization is not the same as defending chaos, but people should be in control of their own money.
73  Economy / Speculation / Re: panic or to be calm on: March 14, 2018, 02:00:03 PM
the more days the bitcoin price slumps down, how do you think, whether the price will stabilize or it will keep falling down ,, seems like I'm getting scared Angry

This dumps don't seem to be related with news, or bitcoin development. They actually look like coordinated sell outs to crash the market and cause some panic. Some say it's Mt Gox sell out, maybe it is, maybe it's not. It's hard to tell, but they don't look natural, so they should be over eventually. Or maybe it's from rich people that don't believe in bitcoin, or that just have so much coins, that they simply want to sell out a few, without completely destroying the market, so they do these sell outs in a timed way.

Either way there is a lot of selling pressure right now, and it's hard for the market to follow the good news that we are getting in terms of bitcoin development and adoption.

I would say don't worry about it. The sell out sill eventually stop, and since LN is near, and adoption should probably happen in the future, the markets will eventually resume a very positive trend.
74  Other / Off-topic / Re: Topic & Post Review (Specific Areas) - sMerit to give on: March 14, 2018, 01:48:52 PM

Hello Kate Beckett, thanks for sharing but this was not what I was looking for.

Hey.
I'm trading in the Forex market.
Can I be of assistance?

Hello Andrey123, I normally prefer crypto trading, because I stop trading forex. Feel free to post some links if you like, and I will look at them, but I rather see posts related to crypto trading.

- Hello sakib.bro sorry, most threads are a bit spammy, so not what I was looking for.

Hi, was wondering if i could ask some of your time to have a look at the following topics. I apologize for taking some of your time. here are the links https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3091206.msg31894850#msg31894850 and the other one is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2853929.msg29281252#msg29281252  Thank you Sir / Ma'am

Hello cerebro415, you submitted the same link again, and I'm afraid I didn't quite understood the other one, despite trying to read it a few times, so I can't really say anything about it.

Please check my topic, if you see it's good. Please for me a Merit  Grin
My topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3116663

Thanks for sharing. I will continue to monitor your thread since I like trading analysis. The problem is most of the threads end up getting filled with spam, and I lose interest. Maybe you should consider creating a self moderated thread to avoid spam?

M.L, is exactly what STT. I can't read those posts, so I can't "review" them, or participate in the discussion.

Hello Creating N Action, only saw the first page, but it was not what I was looking for. Sorry.

@STT thanks for reviewing some of the posts shared by the people using this thread.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Price trend analysis of Altcoins Daily on: March 14, 2018, 01:37:55 PM
Right now the bears seem to be back in control. There is not point in trying to guess where the trend will go, because the market seems a little artificial to me right now. We keep having good news, but the market keeps falling down. Most of the time the dumps come with no heads up, and other times it seems to be following a certain time. If you go to the 4h time frame, and look at the dumps in the 7th, 8th and 10th March, they all started in the same hour. This doesn't seem very natural to me, and it looks like well coordinated bitcoin sell outs.

I will continue in all cash mode and try to get into some oversold bounces, but even on those I will be very picky, because lately we keep end up seeing oversold conditions in the 15min time frame, and sometimes even on the hourly time frame, but we get no follow through. Instead we get some consolidation too cool off RSI, and then we see another dump.

Very hard to trade right now in crypto, we need to be very selective.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lets fight the FUD together on: March 11, 2018, 06:11:38 PM
Hey guys, thank you for the support. I'm glad this thread is being useful to some, and thanks a lot for the contribution, let's keep those news coming.
Bitcoin is being put to test again, and we are facing a few more dumps, but the fundamentals remain the same, and this article provided by Betwrong really touches the spot in my opinion.

Here is the article:
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/23/bitcoin-ethereum-other-cryptocurrency-five-positive-factors-for-2018.html

Thanks fr sharing, it has been a nice read. Glad to see him mentioning a lot of things that we already mentioned in this thread, one of those things was the Rootstock project, that was recently mentioned here by u9y42 (link here: Rootstock - https://faq.rsk.co/en/main/).

Let's keep the fight guys.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't amazon just buy all the bitcoins? on: March 08, 2018, 04:48:01 PM
Imagine of amazon quietly buys all the bitcoins from mt gox committee and then start accepting bitcoin as currency! If this possible? if yes, what flaws would it have?

[Edit : you are missing the FROM MTGOX part! I do not mean buy every existing coin in the world]

They don't necessarily need to buy bitcoin from MTGOX, but it would actually make a lot of sense for amazon to buy bitcoins and then announce that they would accept BTC as a payment method. I don't know if they could be accused of inside trading though, and that could be a problem for them.

They know they would affect the price of bitcoin, because if they announced they would accept BTC as a payment method, it's price would just skyrocket, and no one doubts that, so it would make perfect sense for them to be accused of inside trading, and face penalties.

These seem interesting:
https://www.ccn.com/alibaba-subsidiary-reports-successful-use-blockchain-technology-logistics-data/
(since that is Alibaba after all, and Bitcoin is really striving to get the support from traders like Amazon, Alibaba, Steem and others first, I think that news are actually substantial);

and
https://www.ccn.com/mexicos-congress-approves-cryptocurrency-crowdfunding-regulations/.

You could try following this Telegram group for news:
https://t.me/ccncom

Hello dado7, as usual thanks for sharing. It's always good to read the links you provide for this thread. I actually enjoyed reading the first link, and I think it's quite substantial for the blockchain technology itself, and that always relates to bitcoin in my opinion. If the blockchain is good because of the way it stores data (providing trust to that same data being stored), then it makes perfect sense that bitcoin will have a future in our world. The article doesn't go there, I think people will eventually realize that.

As for the second link, I still think that regulation is quite important, so any steps made in order to legitimize bitcoin in the eyes of the world, are very welcome and quite important in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing.

I will share another one, related to binance. A lot of people reacted to the fear of a hack, but everything is operational now, so I think it's worth sharing.

Hello Direwolve735, thanks for sharing. I will not "pin" any of those threads here, but I did enjoy participating on the discussion of some of them, mainly because I didn't quite agree with them, and that is a good step in order to start a good discussion. I gave you merit for that, and not for the links itself.

Hello thescimitarr, those links are bad, and they send me to a reply thread, instead of your message. Please correct the links so I can view your posts and threads. Thank you.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The environmental problem on: March 08, 2018, 04:19:38 PM
Everything is relative. Bitcoin mining is really an insanely energy-consuming process. However, we should remember that in the case of Bitcoin, electricity is spent only on mining and blockchain operation. While maintaining, for example, a payment system, which is used by almost all people and often enough, is accompanied by additional energy costs. BTC is even more environmentally friendly than traditional payment systems. Also do not forget that the total number of bitcoins is pre-installed. This means that sooner or later the last BTC will be mined and the mining will finally stop.

I agree with you in most of what you've said. The cost of electricity to support fiat, or even mining gold, since many compare bitcoin to gold, is way bigger than the costs used to mine bitcoin. A lot of miners are actually trying to use renewable energy, mostly because it's cheaper, but it's also good for the environment so it's a good thing they are doing it. In fact bitcoin mining could help boost the investment to produce renewable energy.

The only thing I don't agree in your post, and that shows a certain lack of understanding on why mining is done, is when you say that mining will stop.
Mining is used to keep the network secure, by confirming that every transaction made in the BTC blockchain is legit. In order to do so, miners get rewarded with some bitcoin (this reward is halved every 4 years, and the next one will happen in 2020). So when all bitcoins are mined, this will simply means that they will stop getting this reward. At this time, the only incentive they will get to continue securing the network, by verifying transactions will be the fees they collect. So basically mining will never stop.
