721  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: CRYPTOBOOST - FULLY TRANSPARENT CRYPTO INVESTMENT GAMES - JOIN NOW! on: November 11, 2015, 08:55:40 PM
Haha. Someone tried to invest 0.09 BTC, but he couldn't get paid out xD so the system kept it

I guess he must be really sad right now. I remember when I lost 1 million satoshi in the first round lol. The first round ended because of this dick who deposited 0.1 4 times in a row -_-

I'd recommend to invest quickly guys, as there is 0.1 in the wallet!
722  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin goes up very high should i buy a house? on: November 11, 2015, 08:34:21 PM
Why would you need to convert to fiat? If bitcoin goes that high, people will buy and sell HOUSES for bitcoin! Cheesy

Yes, buy a house if the housing market is good in your country, or invest in something else, like gold. It's fun to make profit, and its good when you make alot Cheesy
723  Economy / Digital goods / Re: DOMAIN: buycryptos.net on: November 11, 2015, 08:28:41 PM
Domain squatting isn't that good nowadays. People are smarter with coming up with cool domains, and they don't need to pay what, (50*100) $5,000 bucks for a domain. Please, be reasonable. If this was 10 years ago, maybe. If you owned the google.com domain, quite possibly. But buycryptos.net? That's so generic. People want a domain that has their company's name on it. Like poloniex, or cryptsy, etc.
724  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Betting Group looking for more investors... on: November 11, 2015, 08:23:59 PM
The problem is, the people that are criticizing me are not very good at reading.

1) no website. It's public to an extent but the results are not for obvious legal reasons. I live in the us where gambling is not legal, and a betting group is more then likely illegal.  So you want me to put up a website to attract even more attention? Lol okay

2) anyone asking for proof will get it privately.  But I'm not gonna just put up betting tickets for thousands of dollars on a PUBLIC forum.

3) Ponzi scheme? Lol no.

4) you have full access to the funds. I give you a screenshot of the balance at all books everyday.

5) I asked for a loan to try to figure out Bitcoin. I'm still learning.

6) the idiot who said local college game... College basketball is a huge sport in this country. 200+ teams
Have lined games.  It's not a "local college game"

1- If it's illegal, why are you doing it? You can get caught. Even worse, you can get caught for running a shitty-ass ponzi scheme. Roll Eyes

2-  What?! We have to PM you to get proof? Just show use your simple betting results. Jeez.

3- How can you prove that this isn't a ponzi scheme?

4- A screenshot can be easily photo-shopped, or even you can refuse to pay the funds.

5- Learn with your own money, not others, dumbass.

6- Meh, basketball sux anyway.

Ayy... do you have a vouch copy?
725  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin buget on: November 11, 2015, 07:48:05 PM
Bitcoin just dropped almost a hundred dollars today and hit $311 USD. I'd recommend to buy now, as I think there will suddenly be a sharp increase. Prepare your wallets, guys... This is going to be a big one! I might make a few hundred off this next jump! Cheesy
726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network for Beginners.. on: November 11, 2015, 07:45:13 PM
Is this some sort of idea, or has it already been made by some site? Because it's a cool idea, and I'm wondering if something like yobit (koff koff, -Ve kingdom) would be able to switch, as they take out many withdrawals a day.
727  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins? on: November 11, 2015, 12:09:57 PM
Yes! I buy tf2 keys every week!

Which I uncrate straight away -.-

But still, I have something I can spend my money on! Cheesy

I also buy food with online occasionally. I'm to lazy to pick up. Does anyone know an online food/grocery store that accepts bitcoin?
728  Economy / Economics / Re: The truth about the current bubble on: November 11, 2015, 12:04:30 PM
Bitcoin is a bubble. There's no doubt about it. +20% in one day, oh please. The problem is, we dont know whether bitcoin will regain a foothold after it pops, or even when it's going to pop.

I don't think bitcoin's going to pop anytime soon, with tho
The current mass adoption, but I think we will see a big drop sometime in the next few years.
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I should do , if gambling in my country illegal? on: November 11, 2015, 11:30:15 AM
I'd say abide by the rules. Follow the law. Gambling is a bad thing anyway. People lose thousands to it, and if gambling is banned in your country, it means your country loves you more than it's wallet. Governments are usually funded by casinos, and if gambling's banned, thank your government.

I'd say to not try and use a VPN or something to gamble, your ISP can still check your incoming traffic... I think...
730  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin halving to be canceled? on: November 11, 2015, 10:46:38 AM
Well, yes mining pools have the most power. But do they have ultimate control? No. Even satoshi doesn't have that. to stop/delay the halving, we'd have to all agree to a change in the coin's source code. Which is also making a totally different coin. Something like Bitcoin XT, which isn't really working out that well. One other reason why bitcoin is so successful is it's specific amount of coins and it's unique supply. If we change this, the price of bitcoin will plummet.

So no, I dont think the halving will be cancelled.
731  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I believe in Bitcoin ? on: November 11, 2015, 09:45:32 AM
Well, ask yourself! You're the "Financial_Genius"! Cheesy

On a serious note, yes, I believe you should invest. Bitcoin is getting on an up trend, and being more and more widely speed.
732  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HOW MUCH TIME DOWS IT TAKES TO MINE A BLOCK SOLO??? on: November 11, 2015, 09:39:21 AM
Mining a block is basically your computer receiving an unfinished number sequence, which is also given out to all the other miners, too. The blank spaces are called nonces, and people "hash" nonces (aka guessing them). When they get them correct, they unlock the "coinbase" which stores all the newly minted coins.

So basically, it could take a few days, or can be near-instant. It depends on if your device guesses the correct nonce combination.

The more hashing power your device has, the more it can guess. Therefore the higher chance you have.

Tl;Dr: it can take a hilariously long time, or can take less than a second. It depends on how lucky you are. But solo, it'll take a few days, usually.
733  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Placing machines outside on cold winter? -20 on: November 11, 2015, 09:26:19 AM
Well, if it's a balcony like in the image you drew, you have to be aware of a few factors.

- Ice buildup
- Animals and insects
- Scandinavian cold air might be too cold and damage the hardware

But there are also some pros.

- Natural cooling, no cost
- No need for housing for your money

I have an idea. My friend asked me about this idea. Instead of an in-house heater, you use a miner and route it into your house, and an air filter inside the miner too. You can build it in a slot in your wall, so there's no snow.
734  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Longest time to solve a block? on: November 11, 2015, 07:56:03 AM
The first block was obvious l obviously the longest, there was no block before it Cheesy

The longest I've actually ever seen is about one and a half hours...

Sometimes blockchain.info glitches and says the last block was 4 days ago xD the first time I saw that, I was so shocked.
735  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Just wondering if anyone had luck at... on: November 11, 2015, 07:44:19 AM
What's a solo pool? I know there is solo mining, where you mine by yourself and keep the winnings for yourself, or you mine in a pool, where you combine hashing power with others, but you split the profit. What's a solo pool?

To me, that sounds like an apple flavored orange...  Undecided
736  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Empty blocks on: November 11, 2015, 07:40:52 AM
Cool. Is it possible for you to open-source this program? I have a few ideas for it.

Can you tell what pool(s) are currently mining 0 transaction blocks consistently?
Thanks,
Sam

Are you saying that some pools can opt out of mining empty blocks? I thought you don't know what's coming until you finish mining the block :-/

I guess you learn something new everday day!
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin's Fate In 2140 on: November 11, 2015, 03:57:11 AM
So, everyone knows that there will be no more block rewards when we reach ~2140. But what do you guys think will happen after?

I personally visualise 2 possibilities:

- Bitcoin is already widely adopted, so the giant community will keep the system running and functioning. Maybe not as easily as today, but with a big enough community, the transaction fees will be high enough for miners to keep on doing their thing.

-Bitcoin has a small community, much like today, and starts to crumble without support of miners, and mining fees will become huge, and so the users will leave. Bitcoins will be left in the transaction pool, and the Bitcoin ecosystem will come to a halt.

Are there any possibilities I might have missed? What do you guys think?
738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase is overstepping the bounds we should give it regarding Bitcoin XT on: November 11, 2015, 03:50:10 AM
I really think Coinbase is a great service, although they're pushing it a little too far with making a "new" bitcoin. I believe since Bitcoin is an open source currency, maybe we should have a thread on here requesting and arguing about some good features and changes that should be made to the current bitcoin, and a representative of the community compiles all the ideas together. Not some just-for-profit company. All they're doing is trying to make an alt-coin that is profitable toward them. Maybe Theymos should really ban all BTCXT supporters. I sure don't support them. I'm just here for the free tx fees Grin
739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: where is the anonimity? on: November 11, 2015, 02:33:54 AM
I think you are mistaken. From what I can remember, blockchain.info only shows you the IP of the block relayer. Anyway, there is "total anonymity" from the way that your personal details are nowhere related to your bitcoin address. Sure, people can track transactions, but from whom? The only way you can compromise your anonymity is to broadcast to everyone that a certain address is yours, and tie your personal detaild to it.
740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't HODL!!! on: November 10, 2015, 09:56:21 PM
Well, good point. Would you spend to increase the price of bitcoin, or hodl and make other people do it?

If everyone chooses to hodl, no one will spend, and the price wil inevitablly fall. I support the OP. Spend. Buy video games, gamble, maybe even buy a Bitcoin miner! Let's go!
