841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: March 27, 2013, 09:26:40 PM
I think I will see if we can edit the registration and ones that fall in a certain category will go to spam/delete automatically.

Registration should be by a message through the forum to you, then you make an account for the writer. If that makes it a bit harder for writers to apply so be it, if they can't write a message, they probably can't write a good article Smiley

It should not be that a bot can fill out a form, and then you confirm or reject it. That road leads to wasting all your time.

Hey just thought i'd give my 2 cents here as i have had a mass spam problem on my drupal site and for all the trying I have found nothing stops them, even to the point where I am sure people are paid to create accounts on sites to bypass the checks and stuff to verify one can use to detect if human.

Auto creation of a reader account is fine but ideally yes you want to verify the writer account, perhaps this is what u are talking about as you want to verify humans as opposed to bots, without too much admin time, and the content of people work if they want to write good articles.  I found spam bots content posting started slow, but eventually the mass posting of content just copied and pasted from elsewhere increases in the first registration of a writer account.  Maybe a 1 post limit (wordcount?? could specify a range?) until an admin has verified it is on content, a human and not bad links etc, then when content verified can be indexed and account for writer unlocked, agreed there will be some determined ones that will be able to get through the net but that would add lvl of verification and allow the admin to index all first articles and verify content and user account,

just my thoughts hope it helps Smiley

Anyone have 1K BTC and willing to sell for 10K USD?

I do.... I will have to make my own coin called KingBitcoin... KBTC, I will then sell you 1 of my KBTC at $10,000 deal??
843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Feedback Wanted] The Most Unique and Precious Alt Coin, based on Time. on: March 26, 2013, 06:27:26 PM
What is next Dickcoin ? or Scamcoin ??!!!! i am lost with all these Alter-coins , i can't see where is the crypto going with all this people trying to create some new coins to get some advantage of it, I am trying to stick with BTC/LTC... and all these posts confuse me .

if we continue this way we will kill every other coin, people will not trust or invest anyway anymore in crypto.  they will take us as a joke.

That's just silly... I would hope they would at least call it PenisCoin for the boys and VaginaCoin for the girls
844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what do i do with a freicoin on: March 26, 2013, 01:29:22 PM
5% demerging is like the frog that jumps half the distance of pond in the first jump, then half that distance in the second jump, then half the halved distance in the third... will the frog ever get to the other side of the pond?? technically no 1/2 + 1/4 +1/8.. etc never actually = 1

845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 20,000+ FRC so sell @ 3 BTC on: March 26, 2013, 01:25:59 PM
Just some calculations for peace of mind... and a free bump for ur post Smiley

currently mining on coinotron at roughly 550MH gives me 1000FRC a day
current mining on Bitcoin network at 550MH gives me 0.0413 BTC a day

using http://dustcoin.com/mining for some verification of the reward per MH

so mining wise currently, 20,000 FRC to mine would take 20 days (at the same difficulty) as opposed to mining 0.826 BTC in 20 days

So at current difficulty your 20K FRC seems rather overpriced, but the BTC difficulty has just risen sharply, and the FRC difficulty has dropped considerably hence y ur asking price seems so skewed to the mining rewards.

Difficulty for FRC is more than likely far to low as it a newish coin, and yet to see massive adoption or speculation, yet the difficulty dropped to 2240 from 9400 recently... if one was to look at the mining capability of FRC at the higher difficulty, I would only be able to mine about 250FRC a day making it about 80 days to mine 20,000FRC .... 80 days mining BTC would give me 3.6BTC if difficulty stayed at same rate (which it obviously won't Tongue).

So in conclusion although this seems somewhat overpriced atm, the difficulty speculation on BTC and FRC would suggest that 3btc for 20,000 FRC is actually not that bad a deal if you want to invest in FRC.  (Just watch out for the demerging!! and the BTC difficulty rising to)

Don't miss out you can earn Devcoins by writing articles on http://www.devtome.com
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The Litecoin Directory on: March 25, 2013, 06:48:46 PM
Looks nice Smiley clean, simple and clear, no confusing links or ads, maybe add a category for software downloads related to Litecoin, like the client, online wallets, code in the github for LTC add ons like LTC wordpress payment processing, and opencart plugins?

I'm a developer myself so design critique is NOT my speciality but maybe add ur tips / donation addy in the footer of the site? or failing that y not put some nice red flashing text on a yellow background or something... just feel like it missing something like

But yeah real nice site, gtz Smiley you may want to add the sites I was compiling here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=144009.0

Ok been playing round with the banner and tried lots of different styles, extras etc, but none seemed to add anything, guess i'll stick to the coding Tongue well here the final one I was most happy with and now lives on my site

849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: March 20, 2013, 08:55:55 PM
Just to say I added my banner to my site http://www.ltcmusic.com/

and it looks terrible Tongue so I tried the other submissions and they look better, so i'll have a go at tidying mine up and maybe a few others.

the banner links back to http://devtome.com/doku.php so if anyone stumbles on my site they will find out about Devcoins as well Smiley

Liking everything I reading about devcoins and filled my last of my signature space with a link to devtome to Cheesy

anyways back to reading more and banner tweaking.

Hi Unthinkingbit here is my devcoin addy for generation coins 18xskifRMWUtMzbHSzQi7rEWF5upmktgF2

Thanks for updating your address, please check that it's correct in the file:
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/bounty_22.csv

Quote
am I to think that I will be unable to send these to invest in stocks on cryptostocks.com ?

Once they get to your wallet, you'll be able to send them to cryptostocks, vircurex, or any other address. The limitation is that generation coins can not go directly to cryptostocks or vircurex.

Yes you are right, the problem with the generation share is that vircurex demands them to be transfered at least once prior the usage,

Confirmed that the addy in https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/bounty_22.csv for me is correct.

Thank you both for your fast and informative responses, you have encouraged me to read a lot more about devcoin Smiley
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help with setting up a devcoin wallet - ya I'm a noob on: March 20, 2013, 06:49:59 PM

in round 22, starting at block 88,000, please check that the devcoin address is correct:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/bounty_22.csv

Oh sweet Smiley thank you Unthinkingbit,

Yes I have checked the devcoin address and it is correct and I look forward to receiving my first bounty / charity rewards!!

Hi Unthinkingbit, just posting here as well as my devcoin addy was for a cryptostocks deposit addy, but i understand this will not work, so here is the addy off my devcoin install:

18xskifRMWUtMzbHSzQi7rEWF5upmktgF2

many thanks

also icoin ty for pointing out some dependencies that may be missing.. i built BTC and TRC clients so most likely had the dependencies already intalled, but i have updated my post to add the dependencies
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Logo and Banner on: March 20, 2013, 06:45:04 PM

To confirm, generation coins can not get to vircurex or cryptostock accounts. Generation coins can only go to a devcoin client on your computer or the devda web wallet, is your devcoin address from your computer or the web wallet?

Here's my shot at a banner:
http://skude.se/dvc/Banner2.png

Clever banner, you'll get 2/5 of a share for the banner in round 22. The remaining banner awards are 1/5 of a share for the last two.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1587171#msg1587171

I made a logo as well:
http://skude.se/dvc/logo1.png

It's inspired by Isasc Miller's rebranding of Bitcoin: https://forrst.com/posts/Rebranding_of_Bitcoin-Ft5

Thanks for the logo, you're awarded 3/5 of a generation share for the logo bounty, there are now two logo bounties remaining:

Ahhh ok I will need to give you a new devcoin client addy then, mine was a cryptostocks devcoin addy. I'll sort this when home from work tonight

Thought I'd have a go at a banner for Devcoin and here's my effort

Ok so using doublec version of Devcoin from the github here https://github.com/doublec/devcoin

Assuming u have git installed on Ubuntu use the command in the terminal:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/doublec/devcoin.git

Once the download has finished change directory into the src folder:
Code:
cd ./devcoin/src

I got a few error message during installing as i did not have curl installed and a few other dependencies, so install the following using the commands:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev
sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-dev libglibmm-2.4-dev

You may need to run the following line in the terminal for some other dependencies (I did not do this as I had already installed them when building the bitcoin client)
Code:
sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev libdb-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libwxgtk2.8-dev

Now just compile in the terminal using the makefile command, I did the compile without UPNP activated
Code:
make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=1 devcoind

You have now created the devcoind.exe which you can start by typing
Code:
./devcoind

You will need to set a username and password in the config file located in your home directory .devcoin (this directory may be hidden) so open that directory and set a username and passwords.  I had to create a file which i called devcoin.conf and is identical to the bitcoin conf i have for this test purpose, though i changed port to 6333.

I also had to create a folder called "receiver" in the   .devcoin folder and downloaded the receiver_0.csv  to receiver_20.csv files to the .devcoin/receiver directory from here http://92.105.105.155/devcoin/  (thank you for the link Icoin)

Restart the devcoin server again and this time it should start downloading the blockchain,
and boom that's it Cool

open another terminal and cd into the src directory again..
Code:
cd ./devcoin/src
or right click in the terminal and open new tab (opens in same directory Smiley)

now run various commands against the devcoind such as:
Code:
./devcoind getinfo
./devcoind help

if all is well u will get a readout from getinfo command something like:
Code:
{
    "version" : 32501,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,
    "blocks" : 8966,
    "connections" : 5,
    "proxy" : "",
    "generate" : false,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "difficulty" : 92.94920663,
    "hashespersec" : 0,
    "testnet" : false,
    "keypoololdest" : 1363646484,
    "keypoolsize" : 101,
    "paytxfee" : 0.00000000,
    "errors" : ""
}

so yup that's it hope this was helpful feel free to ask any questions and all tips / donations are very much appreciated Smiley
