141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (alpha) | KGW | No Premine | ASIC Resistant on: February 22, 2014, 07:41:29 PM
So what's the rationale for this block reward system? (11111 / (((Difficulty+51)/6) ^ 2))

As I understand it, the TOTAL distribution per unit time will come crashing down as network hashrate goes up. Not to mention each miner is getting a tinier slice. That's rather discouraging.

Apart from Darksend, I think this is the best feature of the coin. All other altcoins become diluted if they doesn't become a instant success like Dogecoin.

So the early adopter edge becomes even more overwhelming? Nice way to kill a coin. An exchange medium is only worth something if others agree and also have a stake. We'll just end up a small group of hoarders waiting around for something to happen. Reminds me of QRK.

Now, I know it may seem unfair to latecomer miners and some trolls even went as far as trying to discourage people by calling this a instamine. But the thing is... the vast majority of coins have a high percentage owned by early adopters.  That is the reward they get for believing in the coin before anybody else.  Due to the diff/reward system Darkcoin might be a little more extreme, but as I just explained that system has a very important purpose.

Tldr; This is a fair coin. The diff/reward is a feature that allows more fine control over how much coin is released into the market and thus prevents manipulation by whales who plan to dump.

I don't know how you can consider 1.8 mill issued the first day anything other than an insta mine (12.5k issued last 24 hr). Anyone with 1/8 a brain knows why this happened as is the case with most alts.

"That is the reward they get for believing in the coin before anybody else" This is a joke right? There was little/no notice and if if you were lucky enough to be on the forums at the time, and had waded through the 100's of crap coin threads to see this than it was pretty lucky. If you are saying it was foresight then you are lying to yourself. After problems the dev even told a guy he would schedule a relaunch then proceeded anyway. .. can't loose that element of surprise now can we.

I look forward to the fork without the self serving launch and reward structure (halves in 1 year lol).

143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (alpha) | KGW | No Premine | ASIC Resistant on: February 18, 2014, 05:30:27 AM
Last 24 hours 14,593 issued vs first day 1,834,654 (over half of all coins currently issued)... kind of makes the  reward halving after 1 year statement irrelevant since it halved the first day.  I guess that's the reason for the ridiculous moore's law equation.. A new gimmick. Playing these kind of games is like a prereq for launching a coin.

I'm finally building the windows binaries of the new CPU-miner. After that I'll try to improve the performances Smiley .

Ok, here the link for the Windows binaries -> https://mega.co.nz/#!pBZzQAII!yuvzhcnx3ezLre9fek_G67D0_IyiNqIbEHKY4cKdovA
Read the README for choose the right version for your processor.
Remember, only Windows 64 bit, and only for processors that supports at least AES-NI instructions.

P.S. I hate and I still hate compiling binaries on MinGW, I spent 2 days to set a working crosscompiling environment for this.
The problem was that new versions of build of MinGW64 have a gcc that is hard linked with a new pthread library, called libwinpthread, that it's not good for compiling this... thanks to ig0tik3d for pointing to me the working version of MinGW64...

Very Nice!
I tried to compile it yesterday for windows and I usually can figure things out...but I spent like 4-5 hrs with no luck
Cherry picking some data without waiting to long. Win7/64  i74930 @ 4.5

Old 1.2c = all threads  ~700kh / half threads ~560kh

i7 avx-i = all threads  ~880kh +25%+ (somehow bounced to 915kh for a while once) / Half threads ~700h +25%  (lower power and significantly cooler)
i7-avx = ~880kh +25%
avx-aes-sse2-sss3  =  ~880kh +25%
aes-sse2-sss3  =  ~820kh +17%

Personally I like the half thread option, it performs faster than the previous version 1.2c all threads.  The machine is then still usable and cooler. I don't really care about power draw.
CPU mining is still fine with dark I think, that being said.... CPU mining only people are the biggest bunch of crybabies ever.. I wish there was an ignore button for them.

You deserve a tip.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (pre-alpha) | CPU only | KGW | Mandatory Update! on: February 16, 2014, 04:44:35 AM
There is no windows delivery yet?
For the new version of minerd

I can do this on Linux but haven't a clue for windows. I'm reading up on it, and if by some miracle I compile something that can be shared...I'll certainly post it, but don't hold your breath!  LOL  Sorry!

I know everyone is stoked about the new GPU miner but a good CPU performs really well on this still.

I thought I would attempt this today also and so far is a failure and since I have never tried anything like it before I have no frame of reference. I did the scavenger hunt.. got all the files and I am running "makefile.am" but not sure that  is what I am supposed to use. oh well learned a bit today.

146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Q2C-QubitCoin] Q2C-new secure hashing (CPU mining) on: February 01, 2014, 03:38:07 AM
i think reducing workers diff .. only put more stress on the pool bandwidth.... is that right ??

Right but you should at least get a share per round, and then weighted to difficulty otherwise whats the point.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Q2C-QubitCoin] Q2C-new secure hashing (CPU mining) on: February 01, 2014, 02:01:08 AM
the cpu miner 64.. get more hashes than the 32..for the same cpu..

is there a pool with low diff for workers...

its so high for my cpu .. i some times even't make a single share in a block.... need lower diff for workers for increase in shares/min

i use cpu-miner pool

Are you on http://qbt.mine-pool.net/? Having issues also with a respectable amount of hashing. 30sec block time + stratum = FU (my theory anyway).
148  Other / Off-topic / Re: First bitcoin related suicide? on: January 28, 2014, 06:57:22 PM
man just call 911 and get the police to take you to a psych ward for suicide watch then claim disability and get SSI because you hear voices in your head telling you to kill yourself.

Unfortunately the emergency services tend to be quite useless with people merely feeling suicidal - they MIGHT respond well to an actual attempt, but for mere suicidal ideation (the medical term for "thinking about suicide and thinking it's a good idea") you're better off going straight to a psych.

Not to mention most people who are suicidal do not have "voices in their head" but rather a severe lack of serotonin triggered through a random biochemical glitch or from a life event - or for the truly unlucky both (for example, someone with bipolar who has a bad life event).

The nasty part about depression is it hijacks self-esteem and makes the victim believe that nobody will care (it's a common pattern to see people claim they're doing their friends and family a favour by removing themselves from the situation), when in reality most people have SOMEONE who does care and would be hurt - which is why the best approach is always to encourage people who talk about suicide to talk to their friends and family in person.

Of course some threats are just attention seeking or even plain old trolling, but from personal experience it's best to assume the threat is real and encourage people to seek help - i'd rather be fooled by a few trolls than see someone die who could have been saved, especially as i've had friends who took their own life after people thought they were joking.

For free ass kicking/tasing/bullet in the head call 911...

because it sucks.
CPU is not an option anymore
cpu just can, is not enough

I want a coin I can mine with an abacaus...

what port to open to get more than 8 connections? Im an alt newb but what does "18.4E" mean? I got a 42 share and it said below target? I got a 79&510 but rejected perhaps because of my weak connections.  (NM I see two difficulties listed 73 and then the 18.4E)

153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 Custom FPGA Miner on: January 18, 2014, 08:14:47 PM
I am running an x6500 with bfgminer 3.10.0 with bitstream "fpgaminer_x6500-overclocker-0402.bit".

It default starts at 190Mhz per processor and jumps 2Mhz up every minute or so until it hangs at about 222Mhz per processor. Is there a way to lock the clock rate of the processors? When I [M]anage devices and set both processor clocks to 200Mhz, it continues to increases the clock by 2Mhz every minute.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are other versions of BFG working for you? I am still running mine on 3.9 and the OC firmware. I don't think you can use the set speed firmware with bfg (I think) and cg didn't want to support if for some political BS as far as I could tell, this is a shame since when I used the fastest set rate firmware it ran with 0 errors. Overclocker runs slower on some chips and a good amount of errors (higher than 0). TML was the best way to run these but was linux only.

With cheap USB sticks doing 1.5-2.5Gh I am about to pull the plug on the x6500 and perhaps use it as a toy to mess around with (probably won't get around to it)...

"When you dance with the devil, the devil don't change - the devil changes you."

It is just common sense that "leaders" would be targeted for subversion. These CFR people are the complete opposite of libertarians. To be dismissive or to make a joke of real community concerns does not sit well.

I would personally prefer to have people in leadership positions that would ignore these organizations if not tell them to piss off and focus on improving the bitcoin system (the system that needed to be created because of these CFR types). I don't know the "leaders" of bitcoin, I have to hope that they have more guts and substance then to sell out to the wishes of these scum bags... the complete opposite of that "bobdude17" guy, who sounds like he would sell out for a ride in a private jet and/or a cheeseburger.

DOGECOIN

MUCH IMPORTANT

TO THE MOON!!!

I am becoming convinced that all these 14 post Doge retards are some kind of plot to make crypto coins a joke.
but it already is a joke
there are more than 50 alts out there
and each week comes a new one out.

Crypto includes BTC and I don't consider BTC a joke, nor namecoin (if its purpose is ever used), alts mostly yes... Some interesting stuff and ideas here but mostly just people thinking they can change a few lines of code and be millionaires by pumping "givaways". I never looked at this sub forum much until recently maybe the retarded doge posts are the norm. This sub forum seems like a cesspit.

Edit: ...and just noticed this gem, too...lol:

...
The people behind bitcoin needs to tie it's value to the dollar if they ever want it to take off. One coin gets you one dollar, simple.

Thanks for posting this I was considering responding but clearly the OP is retarded. Saved me some time.
