I always assumed Lannisters were modeled after the Rothschilds.. . even the coat of arms are very similar with the lions. Then there is the obvious desire and near success in dominating the world.  (+ cousin lovin)

site api keeps going down is this normal?

What API?

I think he means the connection to Mt Gox where it disconnects and reconnects. Is there any way to disable the sound for that? Sometimes the connection stays up but when it constantly disconnects and reconnects it can be a bit annoying.

New single case

That's a fancy box of fans they've got there.

In all seriousness, I think it's just a box of fans. There isn't even a power brick plugged into it.

FYi this is to be known as the Double... The Double W I D E to be precise.

Apparently there were internal talks deciding to not call it that.. Seems obvious haha
184  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: @ the end of the BFL queue on: April 26, 2013, 09:20:58 PM
Pizza was thousands of bitcoins, so look at it this way: you [may yet get] a 5 GHash miner for way way WAY less than a pizza! Plus a free single included! What a deal!!!

Cheesy

-MarkM-

The guy who ordered his pizza got it promptly.. If he "pre ordered" his Pizza a year in advance then it is a comparable transaction.
185  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL 5 GH/s Miner Demo on: April 19, 2013, 05:10:46 AM
He's trying to say they they lied about not mining out in public pools. But then people complained that the other video didn't show real mining.

Yeah I'd certainly prefer to see "demo" videos that are on a live public server.

I can't remember where I saw it but somebody spotted the BFL_ASIC_DEMO account live on EMC a long time ago before it was changed to private. This makes it official that it is their account. Personally I don't care that they mine for testing it makes no sense not to (especially after they are shipping). Just don’t lie about it, you get caught then look like a giant douche.

4/16 "There's plenty of doubt, it has nothing to do with us. It's probably someone relaying blocks through EMC I would imagine. BFL is not mining on the live network."

Somebody forgot to switch pools....

I was seting up TML for the first time and got it hashing early AM no accepted shares have shown up on EMC. I setup a GPU test with the same results.. however my old mining software (mpbm) accepted shares show up...  I guess bad timing for me, will give it some time.
188  Economy / Computer hardware / VaporX 5870 440mh+ 80usd on: January 17, 2013, 06:45:18 PM
I have not been steadily GPU mining for quite some time.  I used this card while I was RMA ing another card and I did experience some issues with Win 7 and I played CS:GO often and it would sometimes crash. However this card mines like a champ as shown I had been stress testing it with the settings shown for about a week. The non-reference fan is strong and not making noise.

Would like to get 80$ in BTC for it plus 10$ in shipping (USPS flat rate priority). Would prefer no hassle, previous transactions ok. Will escrow if absolutely nesscicary but perfer not to.

189  Economy / Computer hardware / [Sold] XFX 5850 (2) on: November 09, 2012, 05:00:38 AM
These two are now sold to the first person who contacted me.

Thanks for all the intrest, I have 1 more (same model) to sell in a few days pending moving some stuff arround. This one had an easy life as it was in my room and I did not mine with it much because of the noise and it is currently in my work machine while I am RMA'ing an Eyfinity6.
190  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] XFX 5850 (2) on: November 09, 2012, 01:43:49 AM
do you use escrow?

I never have but stated I would if I needed to. Would perfer less hassle ofcourse.
191  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] XFX 5850 (2) on: November 09, 2012, 01:42:59 AM
So, you can still mine with them?

Yes, been mining wiht both of them for the last week.
192  Economy / Computer hardware / [Sold] XFX 5850 (2) on: November 08, 2012, 10:28:00 PM
I had not used these since March. Tested both of these cards by mining with them over the last week, 1 of the fans made some noise when I started it up but it stopped after a min and has not made it again so it may not be an issue but I would watch. When I was mining with these I set them to 850/300 and I got around 350Mh, that was where they were stable for me (as long as they were not the display GPU then I would have to clock it a bit lower)

Would take 120USD for the pair or 60 USD each (in btc of course) +shipping. Will escrow if needed.

I think I can get both of these in a USPS flat rate medium box (10usd)

I know they go for more on eBay but I would prefer to sell them to people who understand how they were used.

193  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mobo for mining rig compatible with Phenom X3 8400? on: June 10, 2012, 09:18:38 PM
Does anyone know if AM3 boards are compatible with the 8400? Or is it only AM2 and AM2+? Anyone kindly help me find a board to fill with this proc while allowing as many PCIe 1x-16x slots as possible?

Thanks!

very interesting, the oil set up... with those temps it seems like a much moe effcient way to run a rig compared to air or standard liquid cooling. unless i'm missing something obvious.

Oil can absorb more heat then air but that's it. It may cool the rig for a day or so while the oil heats up. After that, the oil will not have any effect. I don't really know what this guy is thinking. He must think the oil traps the heat and then stores it in another dimension.

The temps I posted were after running a few days..2 weeks later and the temps are the same. So where you think the heat is going ..?  (perhaps another dimension) Oil transfers the heat to its container with a large surface area and dissipates. Not sure why I responded to such a dumb comment.

Neighbors must of though I was crazzy when I went to my mailbox then broke down into a gut laugh.

b/c you had a magazine?  or b/c it still wasn't there?  I'm confused why you were laughing?  That seems like a silly response...

Maybe I need to see the cover...

I was laughing because I ordered so long ago and kinda forgot about it. It was also in a USPS envelope (also not in plastic) so it was a little extra of a suprise by not like recieving a normal magazine. It seems pretty expensive but I think I just might subscribe , it was a good read.

It is good for the amount of cards/surface area & amount of oil I have right now, however the more cards I add the more creative I will need to be to keep the temps down. Expanding to a metal lid with heatsinks on top and bottom is my first step. Doing something large scale could be more cost effective then purchasing a large number of waterblocks and it cools the whole card. IDK..If I had the money to buy a large number of FPGAs I would probably design an enclosure just large enough house all the FPGAs then run a the oil through a loop going through a 55galon drum of water with a radiator in it and then possibly cool the water if needed (or something funky). I don't think air is bad, my temps were low 30's across the board with a good copper heatsink and a single fan each.
198  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 Custom FPGA Miner on: May 22, 2012, 08:07:28 PM
The overclocker firmware will not run without invalids by definition, because the overclocking algorithm would increase the clock frequency in that case. It will stop increasing the clock frequency when it hits 2% invalids or the warning temperature (45°C by default), and try to stabilize things from there on.

The ztexmerge_200 bitstream could probably run at even higher clock rates, but lacks the necessary overclocking logic. The overclocker bitstream is just a newer version with more features, which hasn't been optimized as heavily as the ztexmerge one yet.

Hmm, that is not the behavior I am seeing. My best chip is at .72% invalids @ 38c it had recently went from 208mhz back down to 206. four of my other chips have not exceded that criteria and are stuck below 200mhz

As I wrote that my best chip got an invailid and went down to 204mhz. It is still at .79% @ 38c. I am using the compiled windows version, I will try the python route if you think that will make a diffrence.

what kind of oil is that? talk about liquid cooling... Cheesy

Here is my mineral oil setup I have been working on a long time.

That is downright beautiful! Fantastic work, and those temps are amazing. I especially like the 140mm fan for forced convection! I'm sure that will make quite the conversation piece in the living room. Smiley

How many invalids were you seeing with the overclocker firmware? It's normal to see some, and MPBM will automatically adjust to minimize those but maximize the hashrate. Some FPGAs can get up to 210 MHz, and I would imagine your setup would have higher than average performance. Just load up the firmware and set MPBM to start at 200 MHz, with 250 MHz for the max frequency. Let it run for a few hours and it should stabilize at a comfortable frequency with around 1% invalids. Please let us know what you get!

Also, would right angle barrel connectors make things easier? http://search.digikey.com/us/en/products/CA-2191/CP-2191-ND/568581

I tried a right angle barrel adapters, that was another 30$ that was not useful. In theory that would work but the adapter still sticks out quite a bit and has the added negative of not being flexible. It is my fault for trying to work out all the dimensions ahead of time with some level of guessing.  When doing a setup like this you want it perfect…. absolutely perfect… before you pour the oil otherwise it becomes a sloppy mess fast.

Here are my results from running the OC firmware for 2.5 hr. the hottest board (at the top) is the best performer and even then it is pretty meh..Something just does not seem right how 1 firmware has invalids and the other has 0 at the same mhz over a long period of time. Are there any upcoming firmware enhancements? I guess I should run the OC firmware just for the protection. I like that if anything happens (like a cord getting caught in the convection fan) it will scale it down but I would like to see zero invalids like with the other firmware or at least marginaly better than 200mhz with some invalids. I will leave it running for a while longer but it is so slow to change. The 206mhz chip had zero invalids for almost 2.5 hr.
