321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: prime coin mining- 3-5000pps, how long to get a block? on: July 20, 2013, 04:17:38 PM
Rough estimates say that around 36 hours ago 5k PPS would have been around a block a day.

My conservative estimates say 14k PPS is around a block a day at this point, so expect a block every 2 - 3 days on average.
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Primecoin Price? on: July 20, 2013, 04:06:03 PM
short term down to 0.003 and then rise to 0.015 in 3 weeks maybe

Depends on how GPU miners turn out, this seems pretty accurate.

Amazing!!

On updates on actual overclocking?
325  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Sapphire Batch USB ASIC Miners not hashing at full speed? on: July 20, 2013, 03:20:20 AM
So I recently received 9 miners, the standard hub and fan setup. But apparently I'm mining at 2.87GH/s when it should be at around 3. I see several miners hovering around 266 - 300 MH/s. Does this average out or am I slated to continue mining at this rate?

I have about 15 of these, and they mine around 333mh/s.  what miner software are you using?

Primecoin is new, is that all?! What innovation??! Which of Bitcoin addressed flaws it improves or solves??!
Of course to show non-specialists that one can code a coin protocol by using prime numbers instead of hashing algorithms is nice, everybody accepts that. But what then?!... "it has benefits outside the coin economy, for finding primes".. are you kidding? then where the resulted prime list is stored now for the use of number theorists?! (putting aside the fact that there are a lot of more clever and faster ways-sieves of finding primes inside math community already, if you need some I can refer you to)
Besides using a new (interesting I confess) way of encryption, the only benefit I see from this new (come and leave) altcoin is for dearest miners and darling speculators to benefit the pyramid.. yes the price will rock for a while, because it is new and looks attractive (very american, isn't it?!) so if you did buy a lot when the prize was 10 cents or mined when the diffculty was <1, you win some money..and then it will go to the list of alt-coin stories.

I agree with this 100%.

I've been waiting for someone to prove the protocol useful - all I've heard was "B-B-BUT MATHS LYK PRIMEZ!!!!?".

Someone should prove its uses then.

you are using one hub for 9 USB miners?  what hub you are using, that might be the problem try 2 hubs.
Anker, the high powered one everyone is using.

Holding my position. Cool

Just mined two back to back blocks. Awesome.

Are you running linux? Any particular settings you'd like to share?  Wink

He throw millions of PPS at it, that's the trick^^.

N4ru, do you still use the 2M sievesize?
Yep.

Huh. If this chart is correct, me and a friend are collectively mining 10% of all blocks in the past 24 hours. Kind of cool to be a big fish for once.

Sunny and Mikael are going to be seeing a huge donation from me if this goes well. Smiley
You're claiming you found 400 blocks in the last 24 hours?
Each of us has collected over 2k XPM in the past day. 200 blocks*

WOW, already getting flooded with PMs.

Take off your tinfoil hats people. I'm NOT GPU mining. I'm simply running a lot of high power private servers.
then maybe stop broadcasting it just to brag
I don't mind answering questions/getting flames/etc, but apparently everyone thinks I'm beating out people because of a GPU miner.
Would have been beneficial to you and the board if you were just more explicit.  So you have 1 vpn? 2? and on each of these what type of servers? how many? how many cores in each?

Edit:  Also you imply VPS's are no longer profitable, when it appears you could simply duplicate what you're doing w/ vps so I'm not clear how its not equally profitable, unless you're using someone else's server in a datacenter whose resources are paid by someone else.
Amazon/DO is no longer profitable. Private companies/datacenters is something different. I am paying for the services.

May I ask how to use a lot computers calculation at one wallet? Any mining client can be use? I don't understand how can you have 600K PPS in one wallet? Please share some idea to us. Thanks.

By putting the same wallet.dat on each of the clients.  Then you can just watch the transaction history from one client.

Right up until your keypool runs out and your wallets diverge.
My process is nicely automated and swaps wallets. No worries about that here.

Whoa Whoa whoa. What if... WHAT IF... Primecoin is the new Litecoin?

Duuude.

It looks more like a new Novacoin, amazingly high price and no use

It has a use. It can't be asic bombed. People have plans on asic bombing litecoin, and bitcoin is already being asic bombed.
You have no idea what you're talking about, 'nor what an ASIC is by definition...

'Mining' at 5,000 primes/sec, any calculators to estimate average time to find a block?
Someone gave a very very rough estimate of 1 block/24h @ 5kPPS.
