Nope. None of those are profitable anymore. Private VPNs. Pretty certain no one else is mining XPM with them.

Keep those prices high Wink

Whaaaaat... what's your PPS and build?
Over 600k PPS, HP4.

Keep those prices high Wink

By the way, two of these blocks are only a SINGLE block apart, haha!

344  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED] ASICMiner USB Group buy .99 BTC + Shipping - Purchased on: July 17, 2013, 01:32:39 AM
Barely made it to the post office in time, but I received from canary and shipped out all orders today. I'll send tracking numbers tonight. Thanks again guys, sorry I was unable to get in touch with friedcat for direct orders.
Did you get my shipment out? I know I PM'd you a little late.
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] [FASTER!] Mining PrimeCoin using DigitalOcean (VPS) on: July 15, 2013, 06:31:57 PM
We have a very, very long time to go before the block reward hits 6 XPM.

I dunno, reward was 15 XPM yesterday.
I don't think you understand how block reward and difficulty works.

Block reward is 999/diff^2.

Each whole number difficulty increase is a 30x increase in the amount of network power required to maintain the same block rate. Good luck reaching 810000x network power for a little while without ASICs. GPU miners won't get anywhere near that amount. Someone already explained why GPU mining is a 10x at best (and that's with CUDA), and because of VPS deployments GPU miners won't even make a dent in the network power since you'd have to buy new hardware.

Digital Ocean is very good with the low-tier instance. I have 40 instance 2-core.
The solo-core is better but with limited droplet you have to make a choice.
Of course, solo-core is the way to go. But even with my 30 server limit the power would make me less than the 30 8-cores I'm "overpaying" for.

Did you request more droplet from them?
See above. I am increasing my limits daily, however.

Is there a consensus on the best VPS provider yet? I'm averaging 180k PPS on 30 8-cores via DigitalOcean. I know there are other VPS providers out there, but anything as convenient as them? I can deploy an entire cluster in under 20 minutes from scratch and destroy them all in under 5.

Last found block earlier today got me 12.78 XPM, and the difficulty is heading towards 9. Quickly becoming too expensive to run without specialist hardware or GPU power, I imagine in a week or two the average block will be worth about 6 XPM and too difficult to find without a whole lot of luck.

Is there
a) A primecoin-qt app for Android. Or at least something that can show when a block is mined via an application?
b) A PrimeCoin wallet app for Android yet?
350  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Multiple miners, a single spender - one wallet.dat? on: July 15, 2013, 03:39:15 PM
Do you mean run multiple instances of bitcoin qt in server mode and mine, or mine on multiple computers but with only one instance of bitcoin qt?  If you mean the first option I think It would theoretically work but you could run into an obscure complication.  If you mean the second option, then yes.

Reread that, I used three conjunctions in one sentence  Embarrassed so let me rephrase it.  Your question isn't quite clear, what exactly are you trying to accomplish?
I basically mean the latter. I plan on mining on multiple servers with the same wallet.dat as the spending computer/qt client, but the servers won't be spending anything.

Ofcourse only a small minority are able to do such a mining operation, just throwing this out, looking for your thoughts.
lolwut? Everyone can do it, and everyone IS doing it.

Are you using a service provider such Amazon? If yes, how much does it cost you to run that per hour?

4.5$ per hour

You inspired me to calculate a bit: If you get block at 10 mins average, block is 14.74 XPM now, you get 14.74 * 6 = 88.44 XPM/hour. if you pay 4.5$/hour it means you get 19.65 XPM for 1 US$!!! Wow! No wonder XPM exchange rate is 0.003 for BTC, you are getting 0.05896 BTC/US$, or 16.96US$ for 1BTC through XPM mining!!! Sadly but true, value of XPM should be more than 5x less, to be precise if BTC value is $95.40 now on MtGox, value of XPM should be 0.00053333 BTC. Shocking. Running to sell my poor XPM before people figure this out.
wow aren't you a smart one.
353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: How to Import Private Keys into Smartphone Digital Wallet (Bitcoin Wallet app)? on: July 14, 2013, 09:54:19 AM
Where would I find this file? All I have is my backup file which is encrypted.

just create a new one with a text editor. Then save it to the SD-card, then use an android file explorer, navigate to the file, choose "open with" and select "Bitcoin Key Import" from the list.

After successful import delete the file from the SD card again so you don't have an unencrypted key lying around there!

The wallet app stores its keys and its wallet in
/data/data/de.schildbach.wallet/files/
This folder is protected and owned by the wallet app, nobody can access it except the app itself, root and the system. The only official way to get keys in and out is the wallet key backup/restore function of the wallet app and the backup files are 100% compatible with the backup files from MultiBit.

Key Import wants a password.
354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: How to Import Private Keys into Smartphone Digital Wallet (Bitcoin Wallet app)? on: July 14, 2013, 09:31:16 AM
It has a key import function. The file format is the same as the one from MultiBit (because both use the same engine), so all tutorials about how to import keys into MultiBit that explain the key import format should apply here too. It a simple text file with one key per line, each line consists of the key and the date at which this key was created (so it knows how far back to rescan the blockchain)

it looks like this:
Code:
# KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS SAFE! Anyone who can read this can spend your Bitcoins.
Kwmxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2013-06-22T18:36:35Z
L1Sxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2013-05-04T22:47:32Z
Kxwxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2013-05-08T00:58:28Z

The time formatting with the "T" and the "Z" must be exactly as above or it won't work

BUMP.

I would like to know this.
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Multiple miners, a single spender - one wallet.dat? on: July 14, 2013, 08:56:50 AM
Would it be okay for many miners to mine to a single wallet file, but only have one computer spend from the wallet?
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 14, 2013, 08:55:38 AM
Running @ ~125k PPS.

Cheers for this build.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Primecoin Built-in Miner Sieve Performance Issue on: July 13, 2013, 06:07:05 PM
2.5 hours with no block, I'm running 55x 8 core, each runs between 1200-1900 using Chemisist build. Big players are joining I think
I figured as much. Running 10x 8 core myself, similar PPS rates. Was about to expand but it might not be worth it anymore.
You guys are using vps? the price has to rise or you have to stop.
Pretty much. Made a small profit margin yesterday but if someone big really did step in I'm stepping out tonight.

We won't pass diff 12 for quite a while. But we'll hit 10 no problems.

The coin will either fail miserably or go up in price a large amount in the upcoming weeks because of the difficulty.
