The author is apparently mathematically challenged. The speed increase is not 99.8%, it is 49900%

You will have a difficult time finding someone that will accept paypal because it is too easy to scam the seller.

4304  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is it safe to join hashflare.io ? on: January 09, 2017, 07:54:57 AM
Most cloud mining sites are scams, but scam or not, cloud mining is almost always a losing investment.

Regarding hashflare.io: even if it looks legitimate, it is still a money-loser.

For each 10 GH/s Bitcoin contract you buy, you will pay $1.20 plus $1.44 per year in maintenance fees. After one year 10 GH/s might mine 0.002 BTC, currently worth about $2.00. You might break even after two years, but it is more likely that you will never break even.
4305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should I expect to have to do when making my first purchase through an exch on: January 08, 2017, 06:26:17 PM
With most exchanges, you create an account, then you fund the account, then you buy the bitcoins, and finally you send the bitcoins to your wallet (at the address in your receive tab).
4306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain Best Minimum Transfer Fee - May Be 0.00009 BTC Only - Not More on: January 08, 2017, 01:21:58 AM
This is a result of the size in bytes of the transaction you are creating, not anything to do with the amount you are sending. The size in bytes of a transaction has nothing to do with the amount of Bitcoin you are spending from.
That should be changed. Its not logical, its not easy to understand and more worse is that its not easy to calculate.
Unacceptable for common user.

There is no rule that determines the fee, so there is nothing to change. It is up to each miner to decide what transactions to include in their blocks. A while ago, fee/byte was only one factor of many, but it has become the major factor now that blocks are full.
4307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain Best Minimum Transfer Fee - May Be 0.00009 BTC Only - Not More on: January 06, 2017, 04:45:28 PM
Currently Blockchain wallet make so high transfer fee, it is not acceptable, if you try to transfer 0.0001 BTC, they offer 0.00024 BTC transfer fee. I think best Blockchain transfer fee would be 0.00009 BTC. Blockchain pop up will say it is too small fee for transaction, but not everyone BTC user will agree to give to Blockchain so high transfer fee.

Please keep in mind that 0.0001 BTC is less than $0.10, and Bitcoin is probably still the cheapest way to send money -- even for such small amounts.

However, I agree that a typical transaction fee of 0.0002 BTC is too high because it discourages adoption.

Hello! I've been speaking to my friend about bitcoin and I got really interested so he told me to come here. I've been told that you can recommend me the best setup to start with bitcoin like wallet, websites to earn some bitcoins and such. I've read the pinned threads but is there maybe something else for me to know before I start? Thanks.
I recommend mycelium as your btc wallet, but earning btc i only can recommend you signature campaign, gambling and trading. You can ask google for some other ways to earn btc.

Why mycelium? I've created a wallet on the first service I've stumbled upon and that being blockchain.info one and I don't see that many people recommending that one, and I've never had any problems with that one since. Why's that? I mean what makes one wallet better than the other? is it just a security question or...?

Blockchain.info is not a bad choice. It is convenient to be able to access a wallet from any device. The main problem is that you must access your wallet through a browser. Browsers have an increased risk of being hacked, especially through phishing and keylogging.

@IdiotCoder. You can do what I and many others do, and that is to ignore every poster that is a member of a signature campaign. The results are quite incredible. It reduces the number of posts you see by about 80%.
4311  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 4 blocks in 2 hours on: January 02, 2017, 07:54:22 AM
the hard rule is 2016 blocks in 2 weeks..
this could be 2015 blocks in 2 hours and then 1 block taking 1 week, 22hours
this could be 1008 blocks in 1 day hours and then 1008 block taking 1 week, 5day 23hours, 50 minutes

where in both cases no difficulty adjustment is needed.
or it could be only 1995 blocks are found in the next 2 weeks. causing the difficulty to drop to compensate
or it could be only 2036 blocks are found in the next 2 weeks. causing the difficulty to rise to compensate

That is not quite correct. The difficulty is adjusted every 2016 blocks. The adjustment attempts to make the next 2016 blocks take two weeks based on the time it took to mine the previous 2016 blocks.
4312  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difference Between Miners and Nodes on: December 31, 2016, 05:59:08 PM
A full node validates transactions and blocks, and relays them to other nodes.

A miner is a full node that also extends the block chain by creating new blocks with the new transactions relayed from other nodes.

Since both miners and non-miners do validation, all participate in the consensus process.

Each node decides for itself which block chain is "the block chain". If nodes disagree, then there is a fork.

Here is a 12-word BIP39 seed:

1. There is no crueler tyranny than that which is perpetuated under the shield of law and in the name of justice. Charles de Montesquieu
2. Be on the alert to recognize your prime at whatever time of your life it may occur. Muriel Spark
3. Cholesterol does not exist in vegetables. Vegetables do not clog arteries. Jane Velez-Mitchell
4. You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. Mahatma Gandhi
5. Children are our most valuable natural resource. Herbert Hoover
6. I have learned to seek my happiness by limiting my desires, rather than in attempting to satisfy them. John Stuart Mill
7. Is it a crime, to fight, for what is mine? Tupac Shakur
8. Cock your hat - angles are attitudes. Frank Sinatra
9. All who joy would win must share it. Happiness was born a Twin. Lord Byron
10. Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. Martin Luther King, Jr.
11. They talk about the failure of socialism but where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Asia and Latin America? Fidel Castro
12. On wrongs swift vengeance waits. Alexander Pope

Probably the first word of each one, right? Maybe better would be first word of last one, second word of second to last one, etc. Any combo that would work for you.

I'm really bad at remembering these kinds of things.  Probably part of the reason for my fascination with paper wallets.

shield alert clog ocean resource satisfy crime hat twin force latin swift

It works because there are specific BIP39 words to select from and the last word is a checksum. You remove all the non-BIP39 words (most of them) and then find the combination that works.

4316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should have one Bitcoin on: December 24, 2016, 08:37:52 AM
So if we divide the total wealth on total btc it will be $12,050,000 it means if the world accept bitcoin the value of one bitcoin will be $12,050,000.

Sorry. You are making a common mistake. The value of all the money in the world is not equal to the world's wealth. There is no reason to believe that the value of all the bitcoins will ever be equal the world's wealth. In fact, that would be impossible.

How profit can be earned through funded casascius coins? Why people despirately give up their digital coins to get high value of casascius?  Does it is for trading purpose? Also what is the use of casascius without hologram? Whats that used for?

People collect physical bitcoins and other bitcoin memorabilia. A physical bitcoin has the value of the bitcoins it holds plus the premium that collectors will pay for it. Casascius coins are the original "coins", so they have a very high premium.

Behind the hologram sticker is the private key and you must remove the sticker in order to redeem the coin.

Redeemed coins still have value to collectors even though they no longer hold bitcoins.
