1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Stone - DAG Data-Structured Private Cryptocurrency on: December 24, 2017, 12:30:08 PM
Thanks for your input, the name Stone was derived from RaiStones.

Not all Stones sink  Wink

I think you should go for something with more diffientiation, like RaiSnarks or RAZK.  Orrrr just something unrelated like Nectar?

A fair amount of how XRB works depends on being able to see balances of accounts and their respective chains.  How can delegates vote on whether a anonymous transfer was valid if they cannot see the amounts?

Please let the developer proposing this project answer.

That's correct, however they only realistically need to communicate to each other, not the network as a whole, i will make this work.

RaiBlocks can only avoid the Sybil attack by balance-weighting the POS mechanism.  This cannot be done if the balances are hidden using ZKsnarks.  How do you propose to solve this?

This was literally my first thought as  well. ZK sounds great with a DAG based coin, but there's no way to resolve conflicts for double spends. If he can solve that issue, I would guess that the project would look much less like RaiBlocks and much more like a unique DAG coin that hasn't been seen. You can't use RaiBlock's consensus method if all transactions are private. There has to be a different method that the network reaches consensus on a balance change.

I'm willing to give the OP benefit of the doubt, but would be nice if he at least published a paper or explanation on how this will be built.
What's wrong with two more or less obvious possible solutions:
a) zk delegation voting
b) haing transparent and private parts of balance and only being able to participate in consesus with transparent part?
Both of them are big deviation from Rai but more in spirit than in consensus method.

Whats wrong with dev answering any questions on his own?
I'd like to hear from dev too; it's just there's a number of people who seems to know their tech, I'd like to hear their opinions too. Not on this project but on how it can be done at all.

One possible solution is having to reveal balance to participate in PoS yourself, or to use snarks to delegate to a chosen voter (which can reveal the sum he'd been delegated but not from which account it came).

Ah now someone is thinking  Cool

I'm in on this project, reminds me of Elastic, developer raised donations and it turned out to do a x500. High risk high reward.
Yeah, it's not hard to make Rai private if you're willing to lose some of it benefits, mainly the transaction speed. You can't really fit zk-snarks-based private transfers in a single UDP packet, for one. Confirmation times would be worse too. Maybe you'll even have to establish some rewarded masternodes to mangle the transactions and connections.

As I understand it, zcash had an elaborate ceremony for their genesis block to prove they weren't utilizing the extreme anonymity of zksnark transactions to issue themselves invisible coins.

Will similar precautions be necessary during the launch of Stone?

I think they could simply use the same parameters from Zcash. For example, this was what KOMODO did (which also uses zksnarks) and did not need to setup a new "ceremony".
I have a vague idea that you can do a ceremony on top of their ceremony to make it more secure (basically, if at least one ceremony is done properly, it's safe) but I can't yet work out the math.

Good times for Grim I see. It got shilled by twitter altcoin trader with 10k followers and here you are.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alts are you buying in this Dip??? on: December 18, 2017, 05:05:25 PM
Look what decent coins had'nt had a proper pump BTC-wise yet. Neo is one such coin, ZenCash too. Very recently Stratis was a good buy.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some stable altcoins ? on: December 17, 2017, 08:12:34 AM
Most stable to USD so far is USDT (that may change in future, of course). Stable to BTC? Dunno, maybe LTC is your best bet for that.

That's an insane PoS percentage for sure. Is there a purpose or a roadmap for that coin?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PreICO] BOON - First Job MarketPlace WITHOUT CryptoCurrency Fluctuation on: December 15, 2017, 06:23:21 PM
I fear decentralized dispute resolution would not be very effective. We'll wait and see, I guess.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alts are you buying in this Dip??? on: December 14, 2017, 06:36:16 PM
I bought a little BCH and a Dash, been waiting for them to drop a bit.

I also stake at Bitcoin cash and Ethereum these days. But this choice is done mostly due to their soon coming forks. Honestly, after the fantastic jump that Bitcoin showed on November, 7, it is really difficult to judge about alts prices.
I would also buy Cardano.
I've put a decent portion on Nem: it's got big news coming this month.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges. on: December 13, 2017, 06:09:05 PM
I woke up this morning to find over 8000 BCX had appeared in my Binance account, have I missed another Bitcoin fork - I'm starting to lose count.

Am I right in thinking this is what it is https://bcx.org/ ?

EDIT: Binance has now also given out Super Bitcoin (SBTC) to Bitcoin holders on a 1:1 rate.
Yes, BCX is Bitcoin X, 1:10 rate.
All the upcoming forks are announced by Chinese and this bothers me - the greedy scammers launch worthless copies of Bitcoin, to implement shady premines and steal your Bitcoin private keys.
Technically, Binance is doing a favor its customers for crediting them futures for the fork. Ethically, it stays in the same line of fraudulent and manipulative techniques Binance applies from early months.
Yeah, those forks would cost literally nothing if not for the exchanges endorsement.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges. on: December 12, 2017, 07:29:51 PM
what is the main fuction of BNB? Just token for getting free airdrops from the exchange? What is the usecase here? I would be appreciated if someone explained in datails

The main usecase of BNB is paying the trading fees with it. When using BNB there is a 50% discount on the trading fees. Thats what makes BNB a great token, because unlike others it is a token with real use case!

And also these BNB tokens are burned every quarter so as the volume decreases the value and price increases Grin A great idea from the binance team, as the exchange grows so will the pump for BNB! 2018 will be a good year for BNB
Yeah, it's less explosive then some other coiuns but I expect a pretty big growth over time.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Universa be bigger than Ethereum, NEO, and waves? on: December 11, 2017, 06:30:55 PM
With the blockchain disruption of Ethereum caused by trending cryptokitties that affected many transaction delays and congestion, now we see the problem of Ethereum when handling massive transactions. I guess that Unversa blockchain would come up a better solution that can compete Ethereum but it takes a little more time to do that.
Ethereum's developing too, you know.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Universa be bigger than Ethereum, NEO, and waves? on: December 10, 2017, 05:51:29 AM
I've got a look on the testnet interface and I'll probably check out the docs, they've got me interested at last.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alts are you buying in this Dip??? on: December 09, 2017, 07:47:57 AM
I'm thinking TRIG, EVX, ZenCash, maybe some of the "ethereum killers".
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alts are you buying in this Dip??? on: December 08, 2017, 06:51:52 AM
Ethereum is a good bet. Privacy coins are down enough too.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Universa be bigger than Ethereum, NEO, and waves? on: December 07, 2017, 06:13:53 PM
Will try to see the development till the end of ICO, some people said that this ICO will surpass ETH, and i cant believe it for now because it still in ICO time, i keep my eye to this project. feels like this ICO will explode on the market then.
Don't think so. I think it'll be slow decay on exchanges until they manage to deliver and explode. Or it'll just go out with a whimper if they can't.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Universa be bigger than Ethereum, NEO, and waves? on: December 06, 2017, 06:56:02 AM
Who cares about size?

Please make a really FAST network first. This is really important for everyone.
Look on Ethereum today. Blockchain that was announced as a base for decentralized applications, in fact, is incredibly SLOW.

Only one application (any huge ICO or just a game like CryptoKitties) can slow down the entire network. And also increase the Gas limit & price to a crazy amount.

The solution is to use DAG (though decent dag+smart contract combination is yet to emerge) or sidechains/sharding (etheruem upgrade, eos, ICON, Oracle, Universa, most of them really).
