i've lost count. how many live apps are now running on Ethereum?

Many. That is why the price is rising.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 05, 2017, 06:51:48 PM
Just, thought I'd put up some information about the difficulty increases that may occur when block 3,500,000 is reached at the beginning of April 2017.

Currently, there is a proposal submitted too Ethereum Foundation to replace difficulty increase (delay in block find times) with a tapering of block rewards (e.g. 5 ETH is reduced to 4 ETH, which is reduced again and again down to 1 ETH over time) too maintain the speed at which transactions are added to the blockchain.

April/May 2017

25seconds

1.4 months = 518,400 Eth per month

35 seconds

2.2 months = 370,285 Eth per month

55seconds

3.8 months = 235,636 Eth per month

95seconds

26 months = 136,421 Eth per month

After 2021, is when a theoretical Ice Age would begin.

Naturally, increasing difficulty and slowing block find times would reduce the speed at which transactions are added to the blockchain. However, this is all provisional on the Casper-POS being delivered towards the last quarter of 2017 or first quarter of 2018.

And, VB has hinted recently, that Casper-POS testing is going better, than previous public releases have led the markets too infer.

I saw the proposal to change the block reward to 2, from 1.5 previously.

What is the best driver version to mine etc or eth in AMD 7950?  I am asking the question in different thread but no one replied.

The one that gives you undervolting capability with Afterburner or Trix. 15.7.1 works for me.
How to undervolt and is it safe for my gpu? What should i expect from a single and 7950 gpu in eth mining now?

Undervolting is totally safe and it even brings down the heat and power usage. I am getting 15Mh from a 280X, I think you can expect anywhere near that since it's the same chip.

I have R9 280x. How much can I undervolt ?

You can run at 950 mV and 850 MHz. It depends on the quality of the card. That is more or less ballpark figure.

850 MHz with GPU Clock or Memory Clock ? I have 1070/1600MHz default values.

850MHz will be with core clock. The memory clock has to be 1250 MHz to have proper speed with Claymore miner.

When is the date for the next fork?

https://blog.ethereum.org/2016/11/18/hard-fork-no-4-spurious-dragon/

Hard Fork No. 4: Spurious Dragon

Posted by Hudson Jameson on November 18th, 2016.
The Ethereum network will be undergoing a hard fork at block number 2,675,000, which will likely occur between 15:00 and 16:00 UTC on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. A countdown timer can be seen at https://fork.codetract.io/. The Morden test network will be undergoing a hard fork at block number 1,885,000.

As a user, what do I need to do?

Download the latest version of your Ethereum client:

Latest version of Ethereum Wallet/Mist (v0.8.7)
Latest geth client (v1.5.2)
Latest Parity client (v1.4.4)
Latest ruby-ethereum client (v0.11.0)
What happens if I do not update my client?

If you are using an Ethereum client that is not updated for the upcoming hard fork, your client will sync to the pre-fork blockchain once the fork occurs. You will be stuck on an incompatible chain following the old rules and you will be unable to send ether or operate on the post-fork Ethereum network.

Importantly, if your client is not updated, it also means that any transactions you make will still be susceptible to replay attacks.

What if I am using a web or mobile Ethereum wallet like MyEtherWallet or Jaxx?

Ethereum websites and mobile applications that allow you to store ether and/or make transactions are running their own Ethereum client infrastructure to facilitate their services. Generally, you do not need to do anything if you use a third party web based or mobile Ethereum wallet. However, you should still check with your web or mobile Ethereum wallet provider to see what actions they are taking to update for the hard fork and if they are asking their users to take other steps.

In particular, you should ensure that transactions are generated with the new replay-protected EIP 155 scheme.

What do I do if my Ethereum client is having trouble syncing to the blockchain?

Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of your Ethereum client.

If you are using Geth or Mist, refer to this Ethereum StackExchange thread.
If you are using Parity, refer to this section of the Parity wiki.
Why are we proposing to hard fork the network?

“Spurious Dragon” is the second hard fork of the two-round hard fork response to the DoS attacks on the Ethereum network in September and October. The previous hard fork (a.k.a “Tangerine Whistle”) addressed immediate network health issues due to the attacks. The upcoming hard fork addresses important but less pressing matters such as further tuning opcode pricing to prevent future attacks on the network, enabling “debloat” of the blockchain state, and adding replay attack protection.

What changes are a part of this hard fork?

The following Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) describe the protocol changes implemented in this hard fork.

EIP 155: Replay attack protection – prevents transactions from one Ethereum chain from being rebroadcasted on an alternative chain. For example: If you send 150 test ether to someone from the Morden testnet, that same transaction cannot be replayed on the main Ethereum chain. Important note: EIP 155 is backwards compatible, so transactions generated with the “pre-Spurious-Dragon” format will still be accepted. However, to ensure you are protected against replay attacks, you will still need to use a wallet solution that implements EIP 155.
Be aware that this backwards compatibility also means that transactions created from alternative Ethereum based blockchains that have not implemented EIP 155 (such as Ethereum Classic) can still be replayed on the main Ethereum chain.
EIP 160: EXP cost increase – adjusts the price of `EXP` opcode so it balances the price of `EXP` with the computational complexity of the operation, essentially making it more difficult to slow down the network via computationally expensive contract operations.
EIP 161: State trie clearing – makes it possible to remove a large number of empty accounts that were put in the state at very low cost as a result of earlier DoS attacks. With this EIP, ’empty’ accounts are removed from the state whenever ‘touched’ by another transaction. Removal of the empty accounts greatly reduces blockchain state size, which will provide client optimizations such as faster sync times. The actual removal process will begin after the fork by systematically performing `CALL` to the empty accounts that were created by the attacks.
EIP 170: Contract code size limit – changes the maximum code size that a contract on the blockchain can have. This update prevents an attack scenario where large pieces of account code can be accessed repeatedly at a fixed gas cost. The maximum size has been set to 24576 bytes, which is larger than any currently deployed contract.

about Etherum how much expline its not much really i love Ethereum

Any idea why the price of Ethereum dropped so much recently? Is that due to the second hard fork?

Since the latst 3 updates (at least) , my wallet takes forever to sync .Disk usage is ridiculously high and the computer slows down
I have ubuntu 14.04 running on I5 with 8gb of memory and 300G of disk . I tried with another disk same problem

And now with 0.8.6 it cannot sync

Full chain is 300GB you say?

The Ethereum chain is about 45 GB at the moment. You can still put the folder in a SSD disk at present.

Kraken is considering listing the tokens for ETH's killer DApp. We've waited over a year for this.
If you'd like to request it, here's their email. https://www.kraken.com/en-us/about/contact
Augur maybe? https://twitter.com/krakenfx/status/781929847513751552

If Kraken tweets it like that, they are definitely going to list Augur.

Augur will be good.

Stunningly accurate forecasts on any topic

Augur's prediction markets provide powerful predictive data - you can think of the current market price of any share in any market as an estimate of the probability of that outcome actually occurring in the real world. For example, a share priced at 64 cents has a 64% probability of happening.

The accuracy of prediction markets rests in the idea of the "The Wisdom of the Crowd". This states that the average prediction made by a group is superior to that made by any of the individuals in that group. Markets are the perfect way to aggregate this collective wisdom - which is made up of all the information, analysis and opinion held by members of the group. With these individuals buying and selling shares in the outcome of real-world events, based on their personal knowledge and opinion, the market prices reach an equilibrium that reflect the opinion of the entire group.

Prediction markets have proven to be more accurate at forecasting the future than individual experts, surveys or traditional opinion polling. They provide real-time predictive data and are traded using real money - which incentivises market participants to reveal what they think will happen, rather than what they hope will happen. Traders are putting their money where their mouths are.

If you think that the halving can be profitable i think you need to learn allot more from the bitcoin than you already now right now as you can see the price wont change anythings after it but the miners wil feel it!

Based on last halving, it seems not  really profitable after it. Before the halving period as we anticipate it, prices are keep on rising. They said its about speculation, about Chinese buying more BTC's etc.

The Chinese are the largest seller of the bitcoin at present. that is mainly from the Chinese miners as they have bills to pay.

It seems eth etc both are in coma. Tiny volume, least movement in price, lack of general interest. If this condition persists newcomers will never know about these 2 coins in near future.

Maybe the low volatility is good for the long term health of the coins. People will use it as a fuel for the smart contract.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 26, 2016, 07:24:32 AM
I mean....I know that the difficulty going up means more ppl are mining, means better decentralization, etc.  But FUCK! Mining profits keep getting smaller and smaller!  Angry Cry

It just mean the mining will be concentrated into cheap electricity places like China. It happened to the btc mining.

So, Alex Van De Sande thinks ETC is not worth having!
Please, tell Alex Van De Sande to send over to me those worthless ETHC!

He was in the first steps of the DAO hack, but not in the later stages. He has no access to the DAO ETC.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving is a profitable??? on: July 26, 2016, 11:00:55 AM
I think it is still profitable but not the way it was before the halving.  Since the block reward is lesser, it means lesser revenue to split within the pool who happen to find a block.  This is the case to a pool that is mining only bitcoin but there are lots of multipool that mines different altcoin so probably they are not affected.

Bitcoin halving only make impact on bitcoin mining. but this will also recover soon as price of bitcoin is on the way to rise. so if price reach to $1000 so, in that case mining of bitcoins will be profitable.

Even price of cryptocurrency mainly impacts on mining profitability.

The electricity cost of the mining is about $250 for big farms. If you include the other cost, it will be around $400.

I think the bitcoin price will not drop below $500. More and more people are using the bitcoin at the moment.

I like it:

"Same as we have always been doing, obsessing about security at every step of the design and implementation process. We knew very early that security was going to be the most important factor and have been building our entire stack around that maxim from the start."
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving is a profitable??? on: June 27, 2016, 07:04:12 PM
After reading several article, I dont think halving have real effect to the price of Bitcoin.  Considering this, miners might be at the losing end.  More competition less reward.  It all depends on the move of the whales.  They dictate the price.  They use all tool necessary to make their plan work.  As of now, huge Bitcoin Holder see the halving as potential to drive the price of BTC up then dump at the peak of BTC price.  All I can see here is a major dump after Bitcoin Halving pushing the price of BTC to fall and several miner to shutdown their mining machine.

that is right. The whales can determine the price and can push the price down so that there will be fewer miners.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving is a profitable??? on: June 13, 2016, 01:00:39 PM
So far, the halving is quite profitable. The price rose 40% in the last 40 days. But I am not sure if that is sustainable.

How do I hodl ETH?

You can buy the bitcoin in exchanges, then transfer to your own wallet. Then hold it for the long term.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving is a profitable??? on: May 14, 2016, 01:38:10 PM
Halving is profitable anyway, we just need to use our chanse to make good money on it. People who just holding bitcoins for halving doing extreamly right, i am sure it will happen.

For the guys holding the bitcoin after the halving in 2012, their coin value increased 100 times then.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving is a profitable??? on: May 01, 2016, 11:29:58 AM
It will rise for a short time. It'll drop again fast because people will sell their bitcoin as fast as possible.

Halving is arguable if it's going to be profitable or not. If you sell it fast enough, you'll get a lot of profit. If you don't , well... it will be the same as before.
e
Right, halving is the profitable only those people who have a skill to use it, because halving is depending on us, if you sell our bitcoins on the right time, than we get profit, otherwise if we show our greedy than we will face the lost.

The halving could double the price in the medium term. So from now to end of the year, the price could double.

Today when I was reading my local net portal that is not IT nor crypto related but mainstream and I saw non paid article about Ethereumhttp://www.novilist.hr/Znanost-i-tehnologija/Tehnologija/Ethereum-buducnost-interneta-ili-poligon-za-spekulante there I almost drop my pants. This is amazing.

That is good for the adoption of Ethereum. Maybe the Ethereum will be more used than the bitcoin in the future.
