861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH ridiculous fees on: March 15, 2023, 06:48:49 PM
The question is how much you are trying to transfer?

What I can see from the calculator, the fees is not that high at this moment.

https://ethgasstation.info/

May be something you are doing incorrectly.
862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Europol Sezied 1909 BTC from "Chipmixer" on: March 15, 2023, 06:19:06 PM
That's really sad! But such risk was always there when Bestmixer was shut down by the same enforcement authority. It's quite unfortunate that a huge amount of fund was seized and apparantly there's no way to receive it back now if someone is not involved in criminal activities.

More and more mixing services are being targeted by the enforcement agencies since 2022 and multiple mixing services were shut down completely since then.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: While Everyone was Talking about El Salvador! We forgot about Guatemala on: March 15, 2023, 01:09:23 PM
I am glad the Guatemala is not forcing the adoption but trying to pitch it to the people to experience the benefits. Every big change usually has a very humble beginning. That's what is happening there.

I do not want to completely bash El-Salvador either. Because the efforts their government has taken for bitcoin adoption is commendable. New things usually faces resistance. But still the Bukele government managed it properly and now enjoying their independence from US dollar.
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ETH the King of Altcoins ? on: March 14, 2023, 05:28:28 PM

There is no doubt that Bitcoin is the King of cryptocurrencies. If we only focus on altcoins, ETH is the most successful smart contract platform that owns the largest base of fans compared to other altcoins. The current market cap of Ethereum is over $200 Billions and the this will be more likely to increase in the long term. Can ETH be considered as the King of Altcoins ? What do you think ? Please let me know.

Yes! Atleast according to me! The way bitcoin is considered as the king of cryptos because it has all started with bitcoin, similarly ETH is the pioneer in smart contracting. So it enjoys a huge support from the global community. So it is the king of altcoins for sure.

Also with the movement to POS algorithm, the fees has come down to an acceptable level. So it has all potential to stay as a king and most sought after altcoin.
865  Economy / Economics / Re: With the present economic outlook, do you think that this is good advise? on: March 14, 2023, 04:35:19 PM
I was having a chat with a senior mentor in the financial sector and I asked him what advise he had for recent graduates, he said despite the high rate of unemployment, they should avoid a small margin business and instead acquire a skill or learn a trade where there is a reasonable profit margin. Because the effort you put into a small margin profit business if paired with acquiring a skill will pay more in the future. With the present economic outlook, do you think that this is a good advise?

This is a decent piece of advice! Learning a skill usually pays off in long run. It might not immediately start paying you but slowly you will start building confidance around it.

On the other hand, start investing in gold, Silver and cryptos because these are only investments that are going to protect your capital investment. Banking industry is going through a very difficult time and we are still unsure about the complete impact.
866  Local / India / Re: How to buy anything in India with cryptocurrency? on: March 14, 2023, 03:32:42 PM
I had no idea that you can find gift coupon for everything on Betrifill. I saw they are even selling coupons for Hindustan Petroleum. I am not sure whether you can use them to purchase petrol or disel or gas. At the moment it is out of stock.

The only thing now left is to find a prepaid debit card that can be refilled using crypto and can be used in India.

Mostly you will find gift cards from Amazon or Flipkart and some other renowned brands. These are very handy if you are planning to purchase certain things that are available on those websites. You can do mobile recharge as well. Go ahead and recharge for the entire year.

Now I feel stupid for doing this day before yesterday when the bitcoin price was around 20k. Today the price has gone up and I could have spent less amount of bitcoin.
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is controlled on: March 14, 2023, 06:00:35 AM
Since most of the major altcoins move up or down at the same time as bitcoin, aren't they all controlled? How does it work?
Cool

Not controlled, I would say the crypto market is influenced by bitcoin. Bitcoin enjoys the perks of being the biggest and oldest crypto. But the crypto market is not entirely influenced by bitcoin. There are multiple coins in the market which shows a contradicting pricing pattern. But when it comes to other big cryptos, they are usually a follower of the pricing trend of bitcoin. But they are not controlled in any way!
868  Local / India / Re: How to buy anything in India with cryptocurrency? on: March 13, 2023, 05:48:40 PM
As of now, Bitrefil seems the most sane ways to make use of our cryptos. I have completely stopped converting my cryptos to cash since that 30% tax was imposed. So as of now, I can't think of any negative point for Bitrefil. It's saving us from huge burdens.

The commission is quite less and the price is quite ok. Especially when considering the taxes, I don't mind paying that extra amount because it's te most economical way of spending your cryptos right now in India.
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Echoes of 2008 on: March 13, 2023, 05:18:42 PM
I will say that it's highly unlikely to see another 2008 crisis now. The market is well prepared of what's coming our way. So another big recession is highly unlikely to happen. But yes, taxpayers money will be used to bailout the failed banking system again for sure! Also now this banking crisis will give another chance to FED to increase the lending rate which will increase the burden on the common people.

SVB was the bank for highly risky companies whose roadmap is still not clear. So there was a risk element always present with that bank. It's a good news that HSBC has already purchased SVB's UK business.
870  Economy / Economics / Re: Silicone Valley Bank bust in 48 hours - Crypto exchanges could be doomed easily! on: March 13, 2023, 04:34:36 AM
That's why Satoshi insisted on keeping Bitcoin P2P, third parties are not needed. We don't need banks, nor exchanges. If we keep contaminating crypto environment with traditional banking "tools" (like futures, bonds, yields, etc.) we will make cryptos fail the same as the traditional centralized system.

Can't agree more! Whatever "innovations" we see around the crypto ecosystem like lending, deposits, trading, and centralized exchanges, are actually taking the entire ecosystem towards a centralized banking system. That might become disastrous in the future and we have already got a hint when FTX collapsed.

But SVB is a different story. This bank is used to fund tech startups which is a hugely risky venture. Tech startups use a model called "lean startup" where they do not have a clear roadmap in most cases. They fail fast to learn from it and to derive a new way to succeed. That's how usually startups work and the risk is huge. So when SVB took a such a risk, they should have really prepared themselves for today's scenario. It's unfortunate that the US government denied a bailout for them.

I am more worried about a global recession now because millions of people are going to loose their jobs.
871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too harsh on user? on: March 10, 2023, 08:03:54 PM

This happened to someone I know very well, but I found this to be too cruel,  different IPs on the same device shouldn't cause this ban, what do you think?

Two different IPs should not cause the ban. Usually, a platform will send out email to validate the new IP as it is seen as a security threat to the user's account. So to protect the user's fund, they ideally send email to validate the user and once the validation is done, everything should be normal! That's the usual practice!

But please try to understand more about the situation. Because the scenario you have posted should not cause a complete ban especially when you have funds in your account. The gambling platform should give the user another chance to release the funds. If they have not given the chance to withdraw the fund through KYC or other verification, then open a thread in the scam acquisition forum to report the platform. We are interested in knowing the name!
872  Economy / Economics / Re: Twitter becoming Worlds biggest Financial Institution? on: March 10, 2023, 05:49:14 PM
The owner of the social media platform Twitter said during his conference on March 7 Here, that he is optimistic for his company becoming cashflow positive. Although he didn't directly stated that he won't be integrating crypto currency, he wants his social media platform to offer powerful finance system that is more superior than PayPal.

On his interview last year, he said that he slowly shifted his focus from crypto to AI, and stated that blockchain based twitter isn't possible. Due to his inconsistent behavior and doing things on a whim, we are left here thinking what crazy things he will do next. As previously, he was the one hyping about cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Doge, and SHIB.

Source: https://cryptoslate.com/elon-musk-has-ambitions-of-making-twitter-the-worlds-biggest-financial-institution/

To be honest! I don't entirely believe Elon Musk because of his inconsistent behaviour and comments. He is definitely a big supporter of cryptocurrency but what he is doing with Twitter and the way he is firing people, is not good!

He might have big plans for Twitter but as of now I don't see a possibility for Twitter to become a financial service provider. He will face a similar kind of roadblock that Mera faced with their stablecoin project. Legal challenges need to be solved first.
873  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is money ruling the world? on: March 10, 2023, 01:51:57 PM
Why money??

Because money is the only thing that is used everywhere as a transfer of value. That's the simplest answer to this question. Global banks and governments need a tool to transfer values from one place to another. That's where money came in and now rulling the world.

You replace money with monkey and monkeys will start rulling the world! As simple as that!
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which project according to you is solving real world issues? on: March 10, 2023, 01:25:16 PM
Every project is focusing on an issue and tends to say that they're the answer to it. But bitcoin has solved what most of these projects are aiming for and that's both, a payment method and an asset. There will be arguments that'd say that if there's another project that has come earlier than bitcoin then it won't be bitcoin on its seat now. But to be honest, there have been the same project concepts that have been introduced before but they've failed or just got little attention unlike what bitcoin has reached. Honestly, bitcoin is more than enough already, there could be scaling issues and network adjustments needed to be made but looking at it, it's much better than before.
Bitcoin sucks, Monero is the only currency that utilizes blockchain tech correctly.

Lol! I am not sure how did you come up with such statement about bitcoin, but would you care to explain?

Bitcoin is the most widely used and accepted cryptocurrency in the market today. It has so huge influence on the crypto market that if bitcoin goes doen, it takes the entire market with it.

I honestly think you need to re-think your statement about bitcoin!
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which project according to you is solving real world issues? on: March 09, 2023, 08:27:50 PM
I am sorry as my answer is going to disappoint you! My three coins are -

1. Bitcoin
2. ETH
3. XMR

I honestly do not consider any other coin capable of handling and solving real-world problems.

Bitcoin is for liquidity as it is widely accepted. ETH is for the smart contracting facility and XMR is for anonymity. I don't think a human needs any more cryptocurrency.
876  Local / India / Re: India's money laundering rules to apply to Crypto Trade - Gov't notification on: March 09, 2023, 06:24:45 PM
F**ck man. It means, use of BISQ/HodlHodl/LocalCoinSwap or any other non-KYC P2P platform is now criminalized. Right? Cry

That could be the case! But it's not clear yet as the gazette notification doesn't explicitly speak about this regime. But brace yourself for such legislation to be put in place. As of now, it should be OK if you are reporting your crypto income in your income tax return and pay 30% tax on it. In that case, you will be saved from future hassles because then you will be able to prove your good intention.

What I foresee, is an effective death of crypto market in India. Firstly, the government discouraged crypto to fiat transactions by imposing 30% tax and now its regulation under PMLA act. Probably that's what the government wants!
877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Ponzi Schemes - People are confused. on: March 09, 2023, 03:24:29 PM
Props to you for putting up with the bullshit, but I'm personally done with trying to fight these types of cases. Some people simply just don't want their minds changed. I'll just allocate my investments in a way that I can be personally comfortable even if bitcoin doesn't pump in 5 years.

At the same time it is also important to make people understand the truth. It's extremely easy to just look away but that extra effort that OP has put in, is really commendable.

We as a bitcoin enthusiasts, must go ahead and correct others when possible, is very important at this juncture, because bitcoin is getting prominence around the world.

Clap for you OP!
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think there will ever be a technology that can replace Bitcoin? on: March 08, 2023, 06:12:50 PM
Yes, why not?

During my college days, I never expected to pay the street vegetable vendor from my mobile phone using a QR code, instantly! Now it's a common practice everywhere in my country.

This is one of many examples I can provide which will make you understand that what we can't think today, can happen tomorrow! So obviously there can be such innovations in the future where bitcoin may become completely outdated. Rather, the entire crypto market can become outdated. Innovation knows no boundaries!
879  Local / India / Re: Did anyone viewed the Youtube video on G20: Crytpo Ban by Kashif Raza? on: March 08, 2023, 04:24:30 AM
It's great to see that India has requested a panel discussion on the policy roadmap for the crypto assets. Honestly, it reduces the chance of an outright ban. It's just that puppet RBI governor has shared his opinion for ban!

Thanks to Kashif to explaining the entire matter to us. He was a great help under the name of Crypto Kanoon earlier and he is continuing on the same path.

A comprehensive policy is indeed the need of the hour. Having no policy is disastrous and can be proven fatal against the crypto community of India.
880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which cryptocurrency do you prefer the most to accept payments in? on: March 07, 2023, 04:52:41 PM
There are more than 12000 cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, altcoin, litecoin, dogecoin, etherium and so on. We all have our favorite cryptocurrency. Among all of these, which cryptocurrency do you trust and prefer the most to accept payments? Share your thoughts about it.

When it comes to accepting payment, I would not have a specific choice of cryptos. I would rather choose a payment gateway which will settle the payment in fiat on a real time basis. Business is no joke and majority of the businesses need working capital which is usually taken out from the revenue.

So as a business owner I won't really take the risk of volatility as it may affect my profitability. So coin can be anything, but the payment gateway should be the most important factor for me.
