21  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Hearthstone Beta Key (Americas) on: November 09, 2013, 09:06:58 PM
Daily bump.
22  Economy / Digital goods / [WTS] Hearthstone Beta Key (SOLD!) on: November 08, 2013, 07:09:22 PM
Was going to post this to BitMit, but it appears they are closing up shop...sad day Embarrassed

Fairly sure this key is only valid for the Americas; I make no guarantees that it will work if you attempt to use it from another area. Caveat empor.

Hoping for around 30 USD equivalent in BTC, since that seems to be the going rate. Open to offers.
23  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I just discovered Bitmit is closing down on: November 08, 2013, 06:52:38 PM
I have just under 7 BTC in my wallet at Bitmit.
I have just tried to do a small withdrawal to my local wallet and got a message saying that a confirmation email would be sent to me. That was 30 minutes ago and one hasn't arrived yet.
I have looked on the site and in my transaction history list the latest entry says "Queued
Waiting for Email confirmation"
I have sent Bitmit support a message telling them all this and asking how long I will have to wait but have had no reply yet.
The last time I withdrew 6 months ago you didn't have to receive an email and it was almost instant.
This is beginning to worry me.
Should I be worried?
 Undecided

I also appear to be having withdrawal issues. While I only have ~.43 BTC in my account, it's still concerning...
24  Economy / Economics / Re: Monthly average USD/bitcoin price & trend on: November 08, 2013, 06:27:20 PM
Interesting chart from Reddit
https://i.imgur.com/GOYWUMo.png

To quote the fine print from any major stockbroker, "past performance is no guarantee of future results". As much as I'd personally like to see a constant linear growth in the price of BTC, I highly doubt the continued accuracy of this model...
25  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO on: November 03, 2013, 07:36:15 PM
Price flirting with .12 today...I personally sold off my shares @ .116 since I didn't think the upward trend would continue. Will probably buy back in if the price goes below .11 again.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi-coin online wallet? on: November 03, 2013, 12:16:33 AM
I have one launching within a few weeks for BTC, LTC, DGC, SRC, ARG.  It is currently in the final development and testing stage and is a shared wallet architecture, with multiple layers of security based on my 12+ years of professional web development. It is designed to be easy to use in order to bring in new users who are not tech savvy or familiar with crypto.  I also plan to release a "pro" version that functions like blockchain.info where the user is in full control of their wallet.  Before you ask, I won't be supporting any other coins.

That's very cool to hear, and congratulations on reaching a solid state of development Smiley

What I think would be more useful though, personally, is the ability to rapidly support new types of alts. Like say hypothetically I care about PPC, NMC, and DVC in addition to BTC...then that wallet does me no good (other than BTC support, which there are plenty of other wallets for). Just a hopefully-constructive criticism.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi-coin online wallet? on: November 02, 2013, 03:22:10 AM
personally I wouldn't trust any service like this, although of course you are free to seek out

imo, keep 90% or so of your coins in wallets on your desktop, protected by passwords, and back up wallet. dat's and passwords on thumbdrive

keep rest on couple of exchanges for trading

keeping all on an exchange or online wallet coulsd get lost in hack or dodgy owners or country feds taking down exchange foe some random reason

About 95% of my coins are already backed up in cold storage. The remainder is split between vircurex, bitmit, cex, and inputs.io (which is the current BTC online wallet I'm using).

The point I'm getting at though is vircurex is somewhat annoying to use as a wallet due to the transaction fees. Even if they are minor. It'd be nice to have a 0-fee online wallet to consolidate both my BTC and favorite alts together on, rather than either using 10 different wallets or having to use an exchange as a wallet. If something like this doesn't already exist, I'm honestly tempted to build it myself...
28  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO on: November 01, 2013, 10:18:34 PM
Still, it's certainly better than just letting my coins sit around in the wallet and gather digital dust all day long Tongue

That's debatable and completely depends on whether you can get rid of the shares before they tank too much in price.

That's a very pessimistic viewpoint. Also, since shares inherently generate value through their mining power, they would have to drop dramatically in price for me (and other users, for that matter) to not break even at least.

However, I perhaps should have phrased the above differently. It's certainly more interesting than just having coins sitting in a wallet, but I see your point about the potential for loss.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Multi-coin online wallet? on: November 01, 2013, 10:02:39 PM
So there are plenty of online wallets for dedicated Bitcoin, Litecoin, and <insert-your-favored-alt-here>coin storage for no cost. There are also exchanges which allow users to effectively "store" their coins, but tend to have a small fee for deposits and withdrawals.

However, are there any existing services that allow users to store multiple types of cryptos in one interface for no added cost to the user? I'm trying to track something like this down and having no luck so far.
30  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinIndex.org on: November 01, 2013, 09:19:03 PM
I really like the look of this. Very well done.

A suggestion: Might be worthwhile to add "job boards" or something similar as a category, since I don't believe sites like workforcrypto fit into any of the current categories.
31  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO on: November 01, 2013, 08:58:53 PM
Bought in today at 0.10784898 with some BTC I keep around for short-term ventures. The concept is interesting but I'm somewhat skeptical of the whole operation; No offense intended to the admins of CEX, but I'm slow to trust anything BTC-related after the many scams that have rocked this community. The fact that the difficulty has been rising so rapidly over the last 3 months also has me concerned about the long-term value of the shares I just purchased...

Still, it's certainly better than just letting my coins sit around in the wallet and gather digital dust all day long Tongue
32  Economy / Services / Re: BTCworkers - Bitcoin Freelance Board. Hire programmers, coders, designers, etc. on: October 31, 2013, 03:36:30 PM
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.btcworkers.com

I'm getting a similar error from Chrome.

No longer supported, perhaps? The whois check shows that the site hasn't been updated since September 16th.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoins do u hold? on: October 30, 2013, 03:45:10 PM
LTC, DVC, and a little NMC in addition to BTC.

Rest of the alts are shitcoins, scamcoins, or just not that useful in my heavily biased opinion.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: October 30, 2013, 03:43:44 PM
Guys, do not forget to keep pushing Mtgox, and submit constantly requests for them to add DVC. the number of requests do matter in the equation.
submit a request now, and on a daily basis.
https://support.mtgox.com/home

Frankly, given Gox's increasing irrelevance and their track record with the promise to integrate LTC, I don't see the value in petitioning them to include DVC. It seems like wasted effort, at best.

And my negative trust is for reviving a DVC thread, not for doing anything wrong.

Seems like a stupid thing to lose trust for. I thought trust was purely for OTC trades, not gained/lost from forum activities?

Yeah. If you click the link next to the rating you can read it for yourself though. I literally got it for necroing a DVC thread.

I saw before posting the above...and I'm still in disbelief as to how that would constitute a "lack of trust".

This is a great idea and ive been thinking this too as ive been working hard at converting noobs who had false assumptions which led them to believe devcoin is not worthy of a look... so ive had a hard time to look up bounties and such but the wiki sucks to describe it.. but showing maybe posts on there via jobs may help and we would need it to be via a devcoin hub so it has its own space.. ppl like organized chaos not a bunch of jobs to sift they they want all jobs via category to come by default mayne thru user preferences or even data mining based on historical requests or something..

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly that centralizing the current updated bounties somewhere would truly help out a lot. It seems like workforcrypto can support something like this...and I'd really like to hear back from one of the higher-ups on the DVC ladder about this idea.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: October 28, 2013, 03:31:58 PM
Thanks, we are working hard to give you guys a safe, stable platform to use and earn DVC. Yea, we are still in beta and had to wipe all the jobs when we moved servers just to start fresh. No more job wipes, hopefully. Wallets are all on a separate server, though, so no worries with funds

Yes, you can still use DVC at iGotSpots.com/other to get to the precious metals exchange

http://workforcrypto.com/?job=be-adding-devcoin-soon

I really dig this platform...reminds me somewhat of fiverr but with cryptos. Will make an account later today.

Now, as kind of an open-ended discussion question: Would it be feasible to somehow link DVC bounties to this site? For instance, to create jobs from the Devcoin foundation for the sake of making big-ticket projects and bounties more visible.

As a Canadian expat who's lived in California for 15 years now, I still don't understand why Americans get into such religious wars over healthcare...

Nor why the root cause of over-charging patients still hasn't been addressed.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the loss of confidence in litecoin? on: October 18, 2013, 04:22:36 PM
Litecoin kicks puppies and steals candy from little kids. I heard it once pushed down an old man for no reason. It was just in a bad mood or something.

On the other hand, Bitcoin works hard, gets good grades, and always eats its vegetables.

Litecoin shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.

In all semi-seriousness, BTC is up and LTC isn't on Gox (no surprises there). IIRC, something similar happened the last time Gox made a "we're gonna support LTC!" announcement, so I'm not surprised it's happened again.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The End of Alt Coins on: October 16, 2013, 04:40:08 PM
Oh look, another "ERMAHGERD ELTKERN ERMAHGEDDERN" thread. Not like we've had dozens in the past.

If you really believe the well-established alts are dying, feel free to keep selling me your coins. I'll be laughing all the way to the bank in a few months Cool
