641  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where do Bitcointalk members invest besides cryptocurrencies? on: September 15, 2016, 05:58:23 PM
I have some stocks. Since not much interests are payed anymore by the banks I invested in the stock market and did not regret it till now.
Hopefully the next crisis is not going to come too soon.
Besides that and some bitcoins I do not have too much investments.
642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop fuckin' around, fork the son-of-a-bitch already. on: September 14, 2016, 06:30:43 PM
A fork would drive 95% of the people away because thy don't know how to handle that situation.
After the way the ether fork turnd out, even a lot of the smaller traders would resign from the cryptomarket.
You would create a few whales with lots of coins that nobody wants anymore.
I think if sombody wants to seriously harm bitcoin, a hard fork is most likely the best way to achieve that.
643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If no one spends bitcoin what might happen? on: September 13, 2016, 06:24:42 AM
If nobody uses bitcoin as payment, all the payment businesses that work with bitcoin become useless.
I think it would affect the whole infrastructure bitcoin has built up. And the infrastructure is what makes the difference between bitcoin and all those altcoins out there.
In the end bitcoin would become a pure object of speculation, a bubble that would implode someday resulting in a massive dump.
644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing of Bitcoins is against Bitcoin. on: September 12, 2016, 03:17:08 PM
If you use your coins you support the cummunity.
New businesses can rise because you are willing to pay with bitcoins. There is demand and supply.
If nobody uses them, businesses won't grow. Of course in the beginning there will be a price increase because of the demand and therefore the lower availability.
But very soon bitcoin would turn out to be just an object of speculation. And when the infrastructure behind the coin would start to decrease, I think the price would dump.
And that would be the opposite of what we want to achieve.
Of course I have a small stack of coins as an investment.
But I also try to use bitcoin as a payment method whenever possible. I think that way is the most promising one, for the coin and for me.
645  Economy / Economics / Re: Which one is good, trading or investing? on: September 12, 2016, 01:28:41 PM
I'm not a really big fan of trading, but sometimes I do. You have to have experience to do that propperly otherwise you can end up losing parts of your coins. So for me trading is learning.
Investing? No, too many of those investment opportunities are just scams where you can lose all your coins.
I'm more the keeping guy. I have my little stack of bitcoins I consider to be my investment.
And if I need some for a purchase, I buy them shortly before the actual purchase where I want to use them as payment.
646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be pumped-and-dumped? on: September 12, 2016, 01:21:20 PM
Maybe pumping bitcoin is easier than we think.
Of course you still need a lot of money, millions probably.
But aren't there times when the normal users are not aktive, only the bots? Like weekend?
Such a timeframe would be the best if you wanted to give bitcoin a bump. But it would not last very long I suppose.
647  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: New faucet!! - Up to 10000 every 10 minutes + Free 10000 sat. for faucet owner! on: September 12, 2016, 10:25:04 AM
I usually write in this place that I tested a faucet.
But in this case, with a 50% chance of getting 1 satoshi, sorry, I won't test it.
I am not even sure if "Micro Earnings" is in the right section of the board for this thread.
In my opinion it would belong into the gambling part, because people invest their time and get with a 50% chance something that is as close as it can be to nothing.
Reminds me of dice.
648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & the Banks on: September 12, 2016, 10:16:38 AM
At the moment I see no option how to avoid banks.
Most public services do not accept bitcoins (in my country every public service).
And I don't think bitcoin was developed to replace the banking system.
Bitcoin is an online payment method for shops and private people, and a source of income for miners.
649  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitfinex back on track leading the market. on: September 12, 2016, 08:02:13 AM
yes this is really strange, it is unlikely people will believe and put a lot of money in it after the hack, it is very difficult to get a second trust. because they are concerned, also see another case like mtgox never come back again.
that is a tremendous achievement i think. it really gain the confidence of the people back in no time. i think the credit goes to the people who really put their assets again in bifinex it really very good and in favour of the bitfinex exchange.

I am not sure if bitfinex had to do anything to get the trust back. They simply did not get completely bankrupt and could keep their business alive.
So there can still be money made, and that is the thing that draws the people back to it. Regardless of what has happened.
Maybe bitfinex has improved their security and is now the safest exchange out there, that I do not know.
If that would be the case, people would not be wrong to work with bitfinex again.
650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Ads on Youtube on: September 11, 2016, 04:56:02 PM
I have heard a lot about spreading then news about Bitcoin. I still think that social media is the answer to that. I mean Facebook already has a seventh of the world’s population. Youtube is also growing fast. I also know that many people in this forum have Youtube channels. I am wondering if we can get any ads relating to Bitcoin on the videos that they post. Is it possible?

If it is, I would like to have this thread dedicated to ads that can be put on youtube. Let others know about this wonderful cryptocurrency.

Smiley
Who will do this. Advertising is very expensive if you are talking about YT.. the only ad I will watch of YT is the 30 sec unskipabke ad and I'm just taking a guess here that's gotta be costly. Now why would someone just advertise bitcoin as a whole, anyone would see their profit and maybe advertise their website or something at most.

Maybe the answer would not be to make ads for bitcoin as a whole, but to make ads for companies that work with bitcoin.
An exchange for example. It would be in their interest to advertise, and you can not advertise for a bitcoin company unless you advertise for bitcoin itself.
Of course, the company should be some kind of legit, so no cloudmining or ponzi stuff.
651  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [Faucet] Faucet Gain up to 400 Satoshi every 45 min on: September 11, 2016, 02:22:40 PM
I just tested one of your faucets (shatobomb) and I must say it is working fine.
No need of registering, no minimal payout.
One captcha, three easy antibots, that's it.
And the payment goes directly to my faucetbox account.
So Thank you for those 100 satoshis!
652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between Bitcoin and real money? on: September 11, 2016, 02:11:58 PM
I suppose that with real money all of fiats are ment.
And behind every fiat there is a state, a government.
The state tries to regulate the price of its fiat compared to other fiats.
Bitcoin has that not. It just follows the rules of the market.
653  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Thoughts on signature campaigns - helping or hurting? on: September 11, 2016, 02:00:01 PM
I think that 50% (probably more) of all posts are from people who use a signature campaign.
I use one too and appreciate the little extra I get from it.
Of course, it is a lot of crap that is written just because somebody is in a campagin and wants to fill his post count.
But I can imagine that some of the quality posters may have started also just like this.
I think campaigns bind people to this forum and can help to make experts out of newbies.
654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FACT CHECK: Bitcoin Blockchain will be 700GB in 4 Years on: September 10, 2016, 05:41:44 PM
Would it not be possible to buy a harddrive with the blockchain already on it?
Downloading 700GB P2P, I guess that would take weeks or even months.
Every package sent around the globe usually is faster.
In 4 years, a 700 GB USB stick will be a normal thing.

1TB usb is currently around $600. Plus, loading fees, plus delivery, plus taxes, lets say its around $400 $300 delivered to your door in 4 years. Would you buy one?

Don't forget that monthly bandwidth cost.

Ok, let's say we put it on a ssd. You get a 1TB ssd today for about 200$. In four years maybe 50$.
If you can spare somebody from downloading the blockchain for weeks, I can imagine that there are people who give you 150$ for it. In four years.
I really think that could work.
Do you have another opinion?

656  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which US presidential candidate will back Bitcoin? on: September 09, 2016, 05:01:50 PM
I just looked a little bit around, and from the first few articles I could find, Clinton would support bitcoin and the blockchain technology.
But a trump election might boost the price even more, not because of his support to bitcoin but more because of the way he would change foreign and economic politics.
What he actually thinks about bitcoin I could not find out.
But since a lot of mining farms are in China and his statements about China were not too friendly, I would not expect much support from his side.
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin on: September 08, 2016, 06:49:32 PM
Bitcoin has a future (not like a lot of those pumped altcoins we see these days).
There is a big bitcoin community and it will help to increase the popularity if nothing devastating happens.
I'm not sure yet what will happen when the rate of solved blocks starts to decrease.
From all I know a transaction is confirmed when it is implemented into a new block.
If the time between those blocks becomse too high, people might lose interest because theit transactions take too long.
But when this scenario will start to have an effect I do not know.
658  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Cubefaucet 100-500000satoshis 60min timer! daily and weekly lottery on: September 08, 2016, 06:24:29 PM
A very nice faucet.
For claiming I had to solve one captcha, nothing more (no antibots).
The payment does not go directly to faucetbox, but as it seems it can be withdrawn any time with any amount.
I tried to withdraw my first claim and it went to my faucetbox account.
Thanks for the satoshis!
659  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you buying bitcoins? Why? on: September 08, 2016, 06:17:42 PM
I have a little stack of bitcoins I do not touch, they are for investment.
Now, when I need bitcoins, I buy them.
Just to pay some online stuff such as oneclickhoster accounts or VPN tickets.
But I never buy more than I actually need.
660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another way to invest Bitcoin without Mining on: September 07, 2016, 09:56:31 AM
I do not see much ways of investing bitcoins without mining.
I think that bitcoin was created to be mined, and to be transferred as payment.
If you use it for something it was not ment to be, maybe its the wrong way of using it and the chances are high it will be to your disadvantage.
All those "investment opportunities" out there are a kind of payment, but you simply get nothing in return.
I would consider bitcoin itself be the investment, but that's it.
