"You know what would be really cool?  If we weren't left on our own in their official support thread to speculate why it went down and when it will be going back up (if ever).  Like maybe a couple of sentences in here from the Bitinstant guys would relieve most of anxiety on the part of those that depend on this feature.  Just a thought."

Agreed on this....they should be posting either here or on their blog what is going on. In the meantime I found another moneygram->bitoin service: http://ziggap.com only I looked today and their moneygram option is down.....they weren't using a service like zipzap.....you could either moneygram or western union money straight to them..today they just have a chase deposit option up, but I prefer bank deposits actually...

Hey Charlie. I'm an almost daily user of your service and have always been very pleased with it and your top knotch customer service. I notice the direct to bitcoin service has been disable for days now. Kind of sucks because I hate the extra steps and withdrawal restrictions of using mt gox/btc-e. Hope you get this up soon....any idea on how long this will be down?

Have a suggestion for you: when you take services down why don't you note this on your page so people know what's going on? Even putting it on your blog would be helpful. It would be especially helpful if we had an idea of how long it would be down for. It would keep people from having to comb these forum posts looking for clues and I think would add a lot of confidence for your customer base.

thanks,

85  Economy / Services / Looking for a Javascripted Encrypted Form with Basic Calculation on: January 21, 2013, 11:18:30 PM
Hello...I am seeking a *very* simple javascript based shopping cart that can be encrypted before emailed.
I say shopping cart but do not need most shopping cart functions.  What I need is:

- For each product: Product Image, Product Title, Product Description, Product Cost.  I know html/xml so I should be able to add/edit products using one of these.
- Next to each product will be a quantity box. When user inputs a quantity the total for that product will show up next to it.
- At the bottom will be a total cost for all ordered products.
- There will be a place for name, address and comments.
- Whole thing should be encrypted before emailing (preferably using http://www.hanewin.net/encrypt/PGencode.htm as I can swap in new keys easily)
- No database...I want the whole thing with any related program files to fit in one folder.

I can supply an HTML example for the front end.

If you're interested please give me an estimate. Or questions if you have them.
Thanks!

I don't think this is a scam. A scam would be if it was a pyramid scheme but wasn't clear about it. This is very clear what it is and if you know about pyramid schemes it can be very lucrative for early adopters, but less and less as it grows larger.

I'd love to be able to post on the other boards. I have been using bitcoins for several months now and very familiar with them. I am looking to increase my investment in them as well as accept them with my business so I am looking to learn and talk about them even more in-depth.

Thanks!!!

"Actually, you do if you want to move any real amount of money through there."

Sure but I was responding to the $240 request...also one could move lots of money simply by having multiple accounts...

I understand where you're coming from Charlie and I understand you need to follow the law...but seriously you could put anyone's name and DOB up there...I'm just wondering out loud about what lawmaker would think that is any kind of evidence in the even of an investigation or means anything at all. Thanks for answering though. Long live bitinstant!

Try the iceland based orangewebsite.com. They accept BTC and do not require any name, ID etc. They register your domain outside an EU country. No guarantees but it is probably one of the safest places to register a domain.

Cavirtex does not require an ID...you sound like a scammer.

I needed .2 BTC because I didn't have quite enough to make a purchase and didn't want the hassle of depositing money  and waiting. So I went to omne of the sites where you take a survey for BTC. It was ridiculous!! I tried several and it said I didn't qualify. Finally I got one where I did qualify and it was long and convoluted. At the end I saw no way to collect any bitcoin..what a waste of time!

Saw that bitinstant is once again sending coins directly to BTC account. You are now required to put your name and DOB, but I don't understand how this can mean anything...if you were a terrorist/criminal, couldn't you just put a fake name and DOB? Or put someone elses name and DOB? This is certainly not any kind of legal evidence....I suppose they have to follow the law, no matter how silly, but really do they expect this law to actually do anything?

94  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: help me choose a good wallet for windows on: November 03, 2012, 05:47:38 PM
I don't think any windows wallet is secure due to trojans that can keylog. Even if you think you have a secure password, if you have a keylogger it is not secure. My suggestion is to get something like liberte linux on a thumbdrive and keep most of your btc there and keep only a little in your windows bitcoin wallet...kind of like leaving your big money in a safe at home and only a little in your wallet.
