Any idea on how long until Bitinstant's service straight to bitcoin address will be fixed? Thanks for working hard to resolve all issues.

I really need to know this as well....BTC has been removed as a remote exchange from the API documentation.  Does this mean that this feature is not coming back?  I really need to know, as this feature went down hours before I was about to launch a project using it combined with the API.

I just wanted to reply once more to say that my issue was resolved and the payment finally showed up in my wallet Friday night.

so although it took 5 whole days - as Yankee explained due to DOS attacks - it did go through.
thanks again Yankee.

I never doubted you guys, but it was a little worrying at first.

Because they have removed the cash deposit -> bitcoin address option.  None of the owners have chimed in to tell us how long this will be broken (if not forever).

Hey Charlie. I'm an almost daily user of your service and have always been very pleased with it and your top knotch customer service. I notice the direct to bitcoin service has been disable for days now. Kind of sucks because I hate the extra steps and withdrawal restrictions of using mt gox/btc-e. Hope you get this up soon....any idea on how long this will be down?

Have a suggestion for you: when you take services down why don't you note this on your page so people know what's going on? Even putting it on your blog would be helpful. It would be especially helpful if we had an idea of how long it would be down for. It would keep people from having to comb these forum posts looking for clues and I think would add a lot of confidence for your customer base.

thanks,
cb

Hopefully it's not forever.  There are other options apparently, they just cost more.

HEy early thanks for your thoughts..I hope not either .I dont know the MTGOX process at all is it safe ? i liked paying at CVS and at mine i can use whatever name i want any other suggestions on what might be safe to use and easy for buying and depositing BTC ? I would like to use my blockchain wallet but if the chain is broke i dont want to use it..I have heard that it is just BITINSTN..I was kinda thinking that they just stop taking in deposits till all this DOS attack BS goes away..I hate these assholes that do that .

I think BitInstant does both cash-to-wallet and bitcoins-to-email VIA Coinapult. Coinapult is listed as being down on BitInstant's site.

See http://blog.bitinstant.com/blog/2012/10/29/recent-service-disruption-and-new-features.html for the confirmation that this is so.

I read on another forum that $$$ to BTC address & BTC to email will return soon but under new policy. There will now be OFAC(Office of Foreign Asset Control) checks which will require valid full info(name and DOB) that will be cross-referenced against a "blacklist" maintained by the US Dept. of Treasury consisting of individuals/businesses for whom US companies are not allowed to process transactions. The list is comprised mostly of alleged and proven criminals and terrorists.

This is supposed to have come from Charlie himself but that is yet to be confirmed. I trust the source this came from but I haven't looked much into it so I can't say for certain it's true. Any more info on this would be appreciated.

I think you skipped over what I was saying...

That post (from 10/29) shows that to-wallet transactions are done via that service.

I think you skipped over the last 54 pages where that was established.

It was established that Coinapult is the service used by BitInstant to perform to-wallet transactions, in this thread, on every page?

I read a few in here, never saw that. Can you post a link to that specific post (shouldn't be hard, since its prevalent knowledge)?

I wonder why if that connection between the two is so well understood, why everyone in here is now asking why to-wallet transactions are no longer an option.

I was frustrated that the cash deposit service disappeared off the site. However, I contacted customer service and Seth quickly replied that the service should be back by Monday. Hope this helps everyone, life will be back to normal soon!

I don't see why your order doesn't have a failed event, like all the rest did.

You might have to contact support, from what I gather you have to so they can do it manually -

They've already been doing this.  That is not what caused the most recent removal of it.  I assume it's a technical glitch, though there is no reason why it would work one day and not the next.  I know that Bitcoin itself hasn't issued any breaking changes, but perhaps their cash deposit provider (cashpayment.com) changed something on their end that broke bitinstant.com's integration with them.

You know what would be really cool?  If we weren't left on our own in their official support thread to speculate why it went down and when it will be going back up (if ever).  Like maybe a couple of sentences in here from the Bitinstant guys would relieve most of anxiety on the part of those that depend on this feature.  Just a thought.
