681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: December 04, 2016, 10:15:53 PM
OK here's the strange thing that I can't solve and don't even have a clue what is wrong.
The day V8 was released I was installing new racks (2racks 48GPUs) and configuring them, disabling updates, setting apm on power on in bios and etc. and then I installed V8 (which then I re downloaded again) and started to mine, till this day some of rigs were crashing due to normal "GPU 0 hangs in OpenCL call" I tried every step but nothing helped, then I switched back to V7 and everything works just fine. I also want to mention that all other rigs are working just fine on V8, there are windows 7s and 10s as well, only just 3 or 4 rigs had this kind of problem.

Same here. Few cards will hang with v8 but work without problems with v7. I guess there is correlation between power consumption and hashrates. V8 consumes more power and gives more hashrate. So after raising voltage for downvolted cards everything works well now.
I was mining on stock bios RX 480 8G then I replaced those cards to low volt bios for eth on RX 480 8G but it didn't work either, next time I get on place only option left is to try another PSU or reinstall the windows..

seriously thinking of doing the same ... still looking for investors Smiley)))

you do hosting with cheap electricity?
not on this site at the moment, but it depends on offer
684  Other / New forum software / Re: Do we have a night mode in bitcointalk forum? on: December 04, 2016, 09:13:46 PM
I'd be a huge supporter of any sort of dark theme. I'm always using bitcointalk on my phone and it gets way too bright at night. Switching between light and dark would be nice but dark is a must this day and age!
Speaking about that, it would be great to have application for phones/tablets.
I use browser on my android but it's still isn't as comfortable as would be the app be

Amazing Cheesy

So whats your location / electricity price?!
Location is Tbilisi and the electricity price is classified Cheesy 0.05$

I didn't even know Georgia was a country untill I googled Tbilisi. Cool setup bro.
Thanks, you should also try googling "bitfury Georgia", there are some cool projects bitfury made here

687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ribbon vs USB risers, performance difference? on: December 04, 2016, 06:51:55 PM
Are USB risers really worse in terms of performance?

I know most of Ribbon risers are not shielded and the fact that cable's length plays a (significant) role in this too.

Also I saw USB risers rev 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, but I'm not sure what's the difference, they all look the same.
is someone still using ribbon risers ?
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Rig PORN on: December 04, 2016, 06:44:10 PM

Here some of my rigs, total rigs 85 cards 292.
In a week or so we are starting the preparation process for hot summer, more photos to come ..

looks great, but why would you not use an ATX mobo that can handle 6-7 cards?

your mine would be using ~40 fewer motherboards, 40 fewer CPUs, ~320GB less ram, and 40 fewer SSDs. Thats like $5000-6000 savings, and less time spent tuning 1 rig at a time
I'm aware of that and unfortunately that was not my decision, when this order is finished we will switch to 6 mobo rigs..

OMG seems like a full time job just to supervise that everything work.

689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Literature about altcoins and cryptocurrency overall on: December 04, 2016, 06:38:05 PM
I think the best way to go about it is to get your hand on some Altcoins that interest you and study them, then open the reference link for more information
I'll do that of course, but I wanted to cover everything in some simple steps. Starting from bitcoins ending to what will happen in 100 years
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Simple Rig Resetter - Hardware from simplemining.net on: December 04, 2016, 06:32:34 PM
this means I can restart my rigs any time ? without the need to be at place ?
One main board supports only two 24 extenders ? What config will I need for 140 rigs ?
Hi, Yes exatly you will be able to reset any rig that is connected to my SimpleRigResetter while not beeing at place.
There is manual method: going to simple webinterface of my device and clicking "reset" near any rig you want.
Or by auto using my watcher program that will need to be installed on each rig. This program will send every few seconds "keepallive" packet to SimpleRigResetter.
If SimpleRigResetter wont receive packet from certain rig within 120 seconds then it will reset it automaticly.
You also will be able to disable watchdog and use only manual resetting ofcourse Smiley
One Main Board in deed can handle 2 ExtensionBoards for now.
If this will change then i will let everybody know.

For you 140 rigs you will need:

SimpleRigResetter (8 rigs) + Extension board (24 rigs) + Extension board (24 rigs) = 56 Rigs
SimpleRigResetter (8 rigs) + Extension board (24 rigs) + Extension board (24 rigs) = 56 Rigs
SimpleRigResetter (8 rigs) + Extension board (24 rigs) + (empty slot...................) = 32 Rigs
So in that case you will need to buy:
3x SimpleRigResetter and 5x Extension Boards.
10-100m Cable is free to each Extension Board and you would can select lenght.
Cables to rigs are paid as on website.
So in your case you will need 140 rig Cables (you will can select lenght of each cable)
Also for such bigger orders it will be good to use DHL instead of normal Postage package Smiley
It will give you Managing of total 144 rigs.
In that case you will need 3 LAN IP for SimpleRigResetters if you want web access.
For auto-script there will be no need of setting IP for SimpleRigResetter.

Also important to note fo you !!!

SimpleRigResetter
Pre-orders will be opened in this months - December 2016 and shipping of this batch will be 15-30 January.
Normal stock will be available after preorders are sent + about 15 days.

ExtensionBoards:
Preorders will be opened propably in January shipping most propably February.
Normal Stock Will be available after preorders are sent + about 15 days.

So in that Case Whole set you can have as soon as February when using preorders and March with normal stock.
Also note that preorders are cheaper.
Also There will be individual discounts for 5+ boards.
My advice is that you order 1 or 3 SimpleRigResetter for tests and the Extension Boards after i will be opening preorders.

We are on track on everything and we are ordering little upgraded PCB (with better organized Slots for each rig)

In next 15 days i will show more details. Demonstrate how it works. Also show webpanel etc Smiley
If you are interested you can write to admin@simplemining.net
I will add you mail to my special list ope interested people Smiley

All fresh info is always on
https://simplemining.net/page/simpleRigResetter
Thank you so much for detailed information, I will send an email asap.
In my case autoreset function doesn't meet my needs, but reseting with web interface would be great! In case of blackouts 20% of rigs won't come back to life and I have to drive 30 mins to get to the farm, that's not a bright side of having a farm far away, or if 3 or more rigs just hang also have to ride back at the farm to restart them.
The biggest thing I'm interested is the web interface itself and I'll wait for it to see when you update.
Also I was thinking about pre ordering one interface for testing purposes, but first things first I have to Interest my investors and I'm making little presentation for SRR.
Email sent Wink

Can someone come up with a book answering common wallet problems encountered when installing them?
for that kind of problems I think Andreas M. Antonopoulos - mastering the bitcoin I think

693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Literature about altcoins and cryptocurrency overall on: December 04, 2016, 03:35:42 PM
I have a similar problem; I'd love to have a good book, explaining the technical details in non-technical terms (not necessarily for me, but more to find good ways to explain it to others), but I haven't found one yet.

I've read a bit of "Blockchain Revolution", but that is not really about tech, it's about what you can do with blockchain technology. Frankly, it's a little too over the top optimistic for me. It reads like an advertisement. But if you want to get people excited, maybe it's not so bad?
What I have in mind is to make a little presentation like book, which will cover the most basic information and techniques and answer the most wanted questions (what are cryptocurrencies, what is blockchain, what are the benefits of it, how to mine, ho to trade etc.).
After a few days of searching the internet I came up with an idea to write down the main questions and answer them, then translate it to Georgian and somehow make it easy to read book effect, but I won't stop searching for now, first of all I need a good questionnaire I think.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Literature about altcoins and cryptocurrency overall on: December 04, 2016, 02:45:13 PM
For example, I have a recent post where I explain my claim that NEM's Proof-of-Importance is just an obfuscation of Proof-of-Stake.

It gets very complex to discuss these technological aspects. My white paper attempts to provide some objective taxonomy for categorizing the technologies, because I try to explain where my technology fits into the space of the prior art.

Note because it isn't relevant to my technology, my white paper doesn't discuss Proof-of-Storage/Retrievability which the storage coins rely on (e.g. MaidSafe, Sia, StoreJ), but I have a series of posts and even a long debate with StoreJ lead dev in these forum archives wherein I explain I was the one of the first on these forums to attempt that technology in 2013 and I dismissed it as unsound. And I explain my logic. But I don't feel like digging for that now.

Also I don't discuss anonymity in my whitepaper, but note I did a lot of research in that area also.

I don't think I want to go that deep into every aspect explanation. I was thinking to answer popular questions, to gain peoples trust or even interest who doesn't even heard about cryptocurrencies or the technology behind.
Even tho we have two maybe the largest farms of bitfury there still is no interest at all, this is due to lack of information. I myself am managing two small farms one for bitcoin and other for zcash, ethereum etc. We are small country with a small electricity costs, so my goal so far is to cover all these at once, with simple language and easy reading and understanding for everyone.
Thank you for your time and support
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Literature about altcoins and cryptocurrency overall on: December 04, 2016, 02:19:23 PM
You will benefit greatly from reading my whitepaper when it is published (hopefully Q1 2017). Because I cover a lot of educational aspects and give a holistic view from my perspective.

Hopefully some others could suggest some other resources.

Afaik I don't think anyone has written any comprehensive material, because the technologies are too new and the very few people who understand it all don't have time to write it all down.

My white paper is already 19,000 words with 115 cited references and cost me weeks of effort.
I think it would be enough to cover briefly the history behind bitcoins, blockchain, altcoins and mining process itself, also some useful stuff like why do we need them, how to mine, economics, trading etc.
Can't wait your whitepapers, I'm trying to collect all information ever written on this subject.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Literature about altcoins and cryptocurrency overall on: December 04, 2016, 01:44:39 PM
I'm looking for any good literature about alcoins and cryptocurrency overall, technical details and the concept of work itself.
The idea is to rise the awareness of my people Cheesy and to give the newcommers easy understanding on what's going on. (I have my own interests as well)
Russian and English language will do it's job as well, I'm trying to translate information in Georgian and hoping to make a guide or something like that, from A to Z.

Are all of your cards connected to the same server PSU or you are using 2 different psus , one for MB and cpu and other one for GPU power ?  When you said Same for the 10 rigs did you mean that you have 10 completely same rigs and you tried adding this card to every single one of them or what ?

I have HP 1500 watt server PSUs.To feed mother board and one card I also have a corsair CX750 M.

I bought 50 cards.I have got 10 pcs of 5 card rigs.

Either feeding from server psu or from corsair 4 cards works perfectly. However the fifth one does not work.I can see it at the configuration with a yellow label warning.

download newer or last AMD driver, unpack it default is C:\
open Manage, then right click to that yellow labeled GPU then Update Driver Software and Browse my computer for driver software, then point were you unpacked AMD driver and wait for installation to finish.

One of my S9-s board stopped hashing after the warranty was over, I might need to send it for repair at my own costs.
As I know I need to send it in US right? And also what will be the max cost of repair/replace the board ?

I paid $150 plus $25 Shipping to Colorado a couple weeks ago....location is relevant to the shipping cost.
I'm sending my boards from Georgia, Tbilisi. Shipping would be higher. Does they pay for shipping back or it is on me too ?

I think that they have a site in both Russia and Ukraine for all EU/european customers.
https://bitmainwarranty.com/contact/
Strange thing is that for me sending to US is cheaper than in EU. I asked them what should I do and waiting for reply after that I'll decide were to send the board.
Thanks for helping me Smiley
