21  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin.org is looking for sponsorship! on: July 14, 2014, 08:56:16 PM
Well ... to have an advert @ Bitcoin.org that's must be very heavy traffic maker for sure Smiley
Maybe one day I will be able to pay for it Cheesy but it seems a lot of money anyway ....

There are many wealthy Bitcoiners around so perhaps someone will consider to contribute with his BTCs.

Wish you all best. Bitcoin.org was 1st Bitcoin related page which I visit after heard about BTC.
So ... for me it is like a cradle.  Next one was Bitcoin.pl which I believe is not donated enough by Bitcoiners too...
Well ... maybe one day Bitcoin related portals admins will get what they need.

ps.
Hey btw guys when you are here together I will ask you cause I sent you an e-mail but never got reply... Cheesy

Is http://www.youtube.com/user/weusecoins a channel that belongs to you?

There is a video that you have on your main page Smiley as you know ...

I wanted to play this video on my BTC Online Embassy but I don't know is it acceptable by it's license..
Perhaps you do know something about it as you are playing this video on Bitcoin.org. Smiley

Kind regards.
-Roslinpl

Thanks for the kind words! Smiley

WeUseCoins and bitcoin.org are two completely separate projects. I'll send you a private message to keep this thread focused on the sponsorship.
22  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin.org is looking for sponsorship! on: July 14, 2014, 05:07:26 PM
Bitcoin Foundation running out of money ?
:~(

yes well this is interesting...

I though that Bitcoin.org is sponsored by Foundation ...

I think people from Bitcoin Foundation are not poor ... but perhaps wealthy, isn't?

Smiley I though that for them few BTCs is not enough to keep Bitcoin.org nicely developed ... Smiley

Anyway, good luck with finding someone who will help you and Bitcoin.org - I am out of money and hardly trying to manage founds for my own web sites (like btc-embassy.com) - so I dunno how to help....

Regards.

Thanks! Your help is welcome if you want to contribute on GitHub Wink

But don't worry, AFAIK the Foundation is wiling to renew the sponsorship, we're just taking a look for alternatives.

For example, perhaps this sponsorship can be useful to some business in the space or bring some more money in the ecosystem, and allow the Foundation to spend more money on stuff that is generally harder to fund like open-source development, lobbying, etc.

Cøbra: Thanks for starting the thread and spending some time on this!

The website also needs an easier to locate Download link.

Seems like you're trying to hide the Bitcoin Core...

Since you join the website:

Introduction
Getting Started -Click-
2. Choose your wallet -Click-
And finally Bitcoin Core

Bitcoin.org is about Bitcoin, not Bitcoin Core. And Bitcoin Core isn't appropriate as the default choice for most new users, so this is actually intended; Bitcoin Core is displayed equally with other wallets.

But ultimately, I think Bitcoin Core should have a dedicated website too like other wallets. But current website is probably "good enough" to not make this a priority.

Can a live preview be made for Danish (da)? Been hard at work on this lately, and I expect to reach 100% soon Smiley

Very cool, thanks!!

Sure, just created, it should be live in the next 10 minutes : http://bitcoinda.us.to/da/ and it should be updated on a daily basis, like other live previews.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WeUseCoins video needs translators on: May 26, 2014, 02:12:36 PM
Does it need subtitles only or voice translation too? the second one is more complicated

This thread is for subtitles only, voice translation is indeed more complicate (but professional voice translations would be nice at some point regardless).

oh, good job !!!  Korean, please, if it's possible. Not for me, just for my friend)

Feel free to join the team and help!

Added Norwegian, as requested.

Also, German translation is now live. Thank you guys!

Great! I've enabled the new WUC video for all translations on bitcoin.org .

More reviews & translations are welcome, the new video is still not translated in as much languages as the previous one.

However, speaking only for myself, I think the best contributions we can receive are additional reviews for accuracy and help spreading the word about these docs.

+1, but many thanks to the people who gave some generous tips!

Sorry, it's said in OP that the foundation might pay $2000/month for this project, so it made me thinking that they were driving this spec.

Beside supporting the project, the Foundation is uninvolved with decision-making. Most of this money was allocated to translations.

Anyway, I believe it is important to have it clearly distinguished where an actual protocol ends and where a specific software implementation starts.

Agreed, I think we can continue to move toward this goal, although it will never be perfect as the distinction isn't always clear in reality either (Bitcoin Core being "the specification" right now until we possibly have multiple full nodes implementations in the future).

Thanks for your appreciation! Let's hope we can continue this great work.

Yup, it's always good to move forward and think of new improvement. We can't have everything on v0.1 . Smiley

Also, I think that's a good reason why it made sense to focus on bringing new content (walkthrough and explanations) rather than duplicating existing tables on the Wiki (and link to them instead). But at some point I agree that having all this content in a single place can indeed be a useful step forward.

More than 80 pages of developer documentation have been merged today on bitcoin.org!

https://bitcoin.org/en/developer-documentation

It's been two months since this project started and received a good amount of positive feedback.

We hope this can prove useful to many developers or technical readers.

Can we add and a Greek translation?

Sure! The Greek team exists here:

Thanks to all of the people working on this project! This is making a great difference!
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WeUseCoins video needs translators on: May 20, 2014, 02:27:33 PM
I added italian subs yesterday  Wink

Cool! Can you ask other Italian members of this team to review these translations and give you some feedback?

It would be nice to push this online once you are confident these translations are good enough (typo free, sound native, and accurate).
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WeUseCoins video needs translators on: May 19, 2014, 10:58:42 PM
Thanks for starting the thread!

I recently completed French subtitles, these translations are pretty short and easy to complete.

Some parts of previous translations might perhaps be recycled:
https://www.weusecoins.com/en/materials

There's already a good number of complete translations, is there some people available to help reviewing them?

If we have enough feedback on the quality of a particular language translation, it's easier to publish this translation online.

A quick update on the project:

More reviews and feedback on the pull request are very welcome so we can get this merged:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin.org/pull/393

This pull request will be merged on May 24th and hopefully will be accurate as much as possible. Reporting any inaccuracy / mistake on the pull request is very appreciated.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org needs more help with translations! on: May 09, 2014, 11:08:04 PM
I can contribute for the Greek.

Great! You can join the team and start translating. If these translations are almost complete in the future, just ask me or Garland and we'll provide you with a live preview and assist you with the next steps.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org needs more help with translations! on: May 09, 2014, 10:39:30 PM
Is there still a need to review Russian?

Is there any bounty

Additional help is always welcome. You can join the team and see what is still unreviewed, make improvement when required and ask any question you have.

Yes, in some cases small translation bounties are available. But there is probably not enough work left to do in Russian translations for a bounty. Bounties are also usually offered to contributors who choose to involve and do a lot of good work for free, to encourage and thank them.

I've completed 100% of the nofaq translations for Swedish on transifex, although it needs review. There are ~70 strings on the FAQ page that needs to be translated hopefully I will find to add those translations shortly.
Could you perhaps add Swedish to the live preview list?

Awesome! Let's see if we can have these translations reviewed.

I just created the live preview:
