10BTC wager?

This is a one sided bet.

To be clear you want me to win $250 if I am right?

And what are you placing against this bet? your terms are unacceptable. Write up reasonable terms and we'll talk.
263  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGox should roll back on: April 10, 2013, 08:21:03 PM
seriously, this wasn't a bubble pop - it was a DDoS attack - roll back and it would make a statement that you won't take bitcoin down with these kind of attacks.

do nothing and the media will have a field day and bitcoin will take a long time to recover..

then of course MtGox needs to do something about it - halt trading at a certain level of lag or something!

even those who bought cheap coins shouldn't be against this, as long as they already held a few.

No, sir this was a bursting bubble.

have a great day.
264  Economy / Economics / Calling to now May-1-2013 1BTC=25USD on: April 10, 2013, 08:12:57 PM
This price correction should level the coins at or around 15USD and we'll start a slow climb back to 40-50USD by July1
265  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 10, 2013, 05:51:25 PM
I'm having hard time connecting with stratum. CGminer (2.11.3;2.11.4) says pool slow/down.  Sad

THere has been a huge increase in load on the pool recently and slush is doing some upgrades so this will occur occassionally until he gets it sorted out.  He is usually very quick with this..

Thank GOD someone admited there was a problem.. I was starting to freak out here
266  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6000 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 09, 2013, 11:31:01 PM
I'm still getting the "No connections could be made because the target machine actively refused it" error in guiminer

It's only when I use it through my vpn, which I consider essential for using the internet.  Why is my VPN fucking this up?

I downloaded the latest guiminer before I made this post and am still getting the error.

Slush? You around bro?  Any idea how I can fix this?

I'm pretty sure it starts hashing automatically after a few minutes of getting the error.  I'll report back.

Add this in the server.ini of guiminer.

restart guiminer, Try the alt server. All your setting should be there still.

Code:
        {
            "balance_host": "mining.bitcoin.cz",
            "balance_token_url": "http://mining.bitcoin.cz/accounts/token-manage/",
            "balance_url": "/accounts/profile/json/%s",
            "host": "stratum.bitcoin.cz",
            "name": "slush's pool(IPv6/alt)",
            "port": 3333,
            "url": "http://mining.bitcoin.cz"
        },

This seems to be my issue but I am NOT using GUI miner I am doing this command line:

"C:\Users\Liquid Silver\Dropbox\Hashing\guiminer\miners\Coin\coin-miner.exe" -u Galaxy -p 1234 -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

Also tried: -o stratum+tcp://api-stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

One machine is just a CPU Miner (G) is blocked
One Machine is a CPU GPU miner (L) both Coin-miner or Cg-miner are blocked

Then Suddenly (after 5 hours) G11

Try stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 instead of api-stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

They resolve to the same ip, but I dont know if slush has anything else going on in the background, could be server load maybe.

That's OpenCl, not cuda, in case you are running the wrong one. Otherwise can you check you have copied the bitcoinmineropencl.cl from the src\opencl directory into where you are trying to run the exe.

http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/04/05/new-skype-malware-spreading-at-2000-clicks-per-hour-makes-money-by-using-victims-machines-to-mine-bitcoins/

A new piece of malware propagating across Skype has been discovered that tries to convince the recipient to click on a link. What makes this particular threat different is that it drops a Bitcoin miner application to make the malware author money.

While malware has spread on Skype and mined Bitcoins before, putting the two together could be an effective new strategy.

Security firm Kaspersky discovered the threat, which it names Trojan.Win32.Jorik.IRCbot.xkt, on Thursday night. At the time, most of the potential victims were from Italy, Russia, Poland, Costa Rica, Spain, Germany, and Ukraine, with the average clicking rate hitting 2,000 clicks per hour

I've added the CUDA ptx file, so if you download the latest binaries you might get further. I've tried it on an Amazon GPU cluster but I don't get the speeds I am expecting, so I am trying to see why.

Stioll not working 100% for me

I'm having trouble connecting with poclbm. It works sometimes so I know it's not me. In fact, I have a miner running connected right now. When I try and start them up, it's hit or miss. At one point, I had all three miners up but seem to be hitting a run of bad luck on getting two of them up. Symptom is, it reports "no response to getwork, using as stratum" (as it should) then "Failed to subscribe".

pings to stratum.bitcoin.cz complete 100%.

Is there something I'm missing?

I am also getting this every now and there/
278  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bfl a scam? on: April 05, 2013, 04:08:14 AM
if anyone has any proof/evidence either way on whether or not bfl is a scam, id be interested since im thinking of ordering

They continue taking money for 3rd batches while they haven't delivered the first batch yet.
They claimed several shiping dates already but they still havent got a working product.
People invested in them last year because they promised to deliver last year. We are now past the first quarter of the next year and still no product. Meanwhile the difficulty has tripled since the time they originally claimed they would deliver.
So their advertising is pretty much a scam and their ASIC products, alstho still unreleased, are now worth a lot less than they were 6 months ago when they were supposed to be delivered.

There's a difference between fraud and breach of contract. Sometimes a breach of contract is fraud, but not all breaches of contract are fraud.

Common law fraud in this sort of case is divided into two categories: (1) entering into contracts without any intent to perform the contracts obligations in the future, (2) making misrepresentations about present or past facts.

We're likely only worried about (1).

So, the question is whether this apparently shitty business was taking orders without any intention to fulfill them. If so, that's fraud.

But (2) could arise. For instance, if they lied and told you your order was on its way when it wasn't in order to keep you from cancelling the order, challenging the order with PayPal, or to induce you to buy even more stuff, that would also be fraud.

There are also different varieties of statutory fraud (I'll ignore the federal mail fraud statutes and things like that). Most states have a consumer fraud statute that is easier to use than common law fraud. Generally under statutory consumer fraud statutes, you need to show that the seller made a misrepresentation or omission in the sale or advertising of goods and that you were harmed by misrepresentation or omission. Unlike in a common law fraud case, you generally don't have to prove whether you reasonably relied on the misrepresentation or omission.

I just don't know enough about the situation to know whether fraud has occurred, but the comments suggest that it's almost certainly breach of contract.
