Buy and hold and see what happens when BTC corrects itself some time in late October. The chikun will rise again... It will certainly rise from its present value, but it has been on a steady decline since September. There may be some doubt on the the BTC correction in October.

1. every coin needs users and merchants and goods and services which are traded. 2. Bitcoin might be well known but you still cannot buy common goods and services with it 3. Would you wait 2 hours for X confirmations when you want to buy an apple? 4. And for merchants might be easier and cheaper to develop its own coin exactly according to their needs.
1. true 2. https://all4btc.com/, coinmap.org, https://www.bitcoinstore.com/, https://www.bitmit.net/, http://usebitcoins.info/3. if you do not pay a transaction fee it may take long. Otherwise the transaction will be visible immediately and confirmed within minutes 4. try that - anybody has the right to give out redeem codes for his goods

Another good overview is http://coinchoose.com/One thing should be evident - as long as Bitcoin is rising fast in deflation all other cryptocurrencies are loosing value.

$200 on X-mas? @adamas Thank you very much - from my POV this diagram simply reflects the long term development.

In reference to what I wrote before: The value of Bitcoin (and anything else) is simply what people are willed to pay for it ...
the Bitcoin value is just the believe of the people. Since more and more people are believing in it this is the savest harbour any asset can have. Even one goverment tries to destroy and put little damage on it all people from other place of the word continue in their believe - this is more save than gold because goverments can forbid gold trafficking but not Bitcoin trafficking over borders.

When you think about it, the world is a very big place with something more than 7,000,000,000 (seven billion) people.
According to my calculations, that equals only 3/1000ths of a bitcoin per person. (.003 of a bitcoin).
If BTC were to go mainstream and be used throughout the world for transactions, even just 1% of transactions, a BTC could become worth tens of thousands of dollars.
I like $50,000. That would make 21 million btc worth a total of 1 $Trillion, a nice round sum :-)
Of course, speculation and pipe dreams. I remember the Internet of 1995 - many people I talked to about the Internet just didn't get it. They get it now!
This is a very inaccurate speculation - more a believe or wish: - not everybody has access or advantage of BTC - who says that BTC goes mainstream - maybe it does not - maybe the market for cryptocurrencies will widen up and other currencies will be on the same level - " 1% of transactions, a BTC could become worth tens of thousands of dollars" - two unknown numbers combined to a third one - maybe it will take 10 years until the market for cryptocurrencies settles - ...

Hi all since the breakdown of bitcointalk.org we know how easy it is to attack the community on central services. It was a good sign that no serious implication has been on the market (even not the SR shutdown ). But on the other side we have also the experience from Bitcoin itself how much better distributed, trustless systems work. Therefor I suggest two applications to be created: 1. distributed discussion board system based on the Bitmessage platform and protocol 2. distributed market place for for coins also based on the technology of Bitmessage With these kind of services nobody would be able to shutdown or interrupt the community anymore. What is your opinion - anybody there to create a paper ? I don't think that bitmessage could handle the volume of a forum such as this. Maybe - maybe not - but if not it is worth to find algorithms and protocols that enable it to handle this volume of messages.

The value of Bitcoin (and anything else) is simply what people are willed to pay for it - same for fiat currency which has the adavantage (?) that goverments made supporting statements on it.
Eg. take a bible. There may be 2.26 billion christians on this globe with believe in what is writen there. Surprisingly the bible itself can be bought/exchanged for small money. That is because the total number of bible is not limited. Consequently the prise dropped down to the printing costs.
For comparison take a peace of ground in New York City. This is a very limited resource what many people believe in. And not surprisingly the price for this kind of ground is very high.
Bitcoins is a limited resource with a steadily growing number of believers. And the more it is attacked the more it is well known trusted. That will raise its value.
PS: Definitely it has nothing to do with drugs or other crimes.

I am going with litecoin its best coin and many are trusting on this
You're basing this on what? a coin with almost non exsistant services? That has no meaning since Litecoin can be build into any service or application as easy as Bitcoin. On the other side Litecoin simply provides the nessecary liquidity (number of units) for bigger markets which is limited to 21E14 for Bitcoins (the EZB has given out something around this as EURO). So my expectation is that the future will bring combined services for LTC/BTC and the exchange rate will go to 0.25

I think it's possible and it should do so. Wait for someone to invest a billion or two Bitcoin is a very good example for a currency which simply reflects the market size plus investor speculation. If the market grows - and it will - BTC will go up automatically. Nobody is stupid enough to invest a billion in BTC as a single investment and speculation. But as market participants start to pay more and more goods in BTC and rebuy the paid BTC on the currency market then it will have an effect on the price.

Ich bin da eher für ein Verbot der Schweiz... Gaddafi hatte doch schon einen konstruktiven Vorschlag: Aufteilung der Schweiz in den Deutschen, Französischen und Italienischen Teil.

Simply encrypt the wallet.dat with Bitcoin-QT. Then it may be stored anywhere in a cloud system.

Much hanging on the situation in the US right now and how that impacts the $. Remember that BTC is always marked on $ so if we see exchange rates move on the $, we will also see value change in BTC. If I can suddenly start getting 2$ for my GBP my BTC is also worth less.
complete nonsense - if the USD goes down in a rush BTC will skyrocket like anything, because it is not bound to any other asset or currency. but in difference to USD nobody can print BTC
