61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Group Mining on: June 02, 2017, 05:26:25 PM

1. Be very clear what the business arrangement is, and put it in writing. Keep it simple and easy to understand. it can be amended as the need arises.
There is no point blowing a friendship because of a misunderstanding.

2. Make sure you are getting paid for your time. 8 to 10% depending on the size and scope of the farm. If the burden is on you to build, get running, troubleshoot problems, upgrade, track power, reset rigs at all hours, this adds value to the other investors. As they learn more and start watching rigs you will be getting texts and emails that a rig is down, or dropped a card. If you are not getting compensated you might get a little resentful when everyone else is sleeping and you are up doing Rig maintenance.
Also even if you are not getting paid to keep everything running one of the others may say you are not doing your job if a rig is down for a extended period of time like 2 or 3 hours. Get paid for your responsibility.

3. Designate, or see if one of the others will volunteer to take on the accounting for tracking income and expenses. They can receive a agreed 1 or 2% for their record keeping and sending monthly reports. Somebody in the group has got to know Excel.

4. Have fun and hold some coin.  Wink
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2 Weeks of L3+ Mining, 211 Blocks found?! on: May 31, 2017, 12:50:07 PM
The pool is merge mining LTC and 1 or multi secondary coins.

It would take 12.8 years for 1 L3+ to find 211 blocks of LTC at current difficulty.

63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sia mining - clean? on: May 31, 2017, 01:04:07 AM
There is very now no, or very little downgrade to ETH mining. It does use a little more power though.
I have always dual mined ETH.

64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: May 31, 2017, 12:54:02 AM
Does this mean i lost 1 board already. Hashing at 375 at the moment.
Restart the miner still does not fix it.
Code:
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: tty_init 0
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Start A New Asic Response.Chain Id:[0]
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: tty_init 1
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Start A New Asic Response.Chain Id:[1]
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: tty_init 2
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Start A New Asic Response.Chain Id:[2]
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: tty_init 3
May 30 13:37:27 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Start A New Asic Response.Chain Id:[3]
May 30 13:37:28 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: open device over
May 30 13:37:28 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: send cmd to get chip address
May 30 13:37:30 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Chain 0 ASIC 72 !!!
May 30 13:37:30 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Chain 1 ASIC 0 !!!
May 30 13:37:30 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Chain 2 ASIC 72 !!!
May 30 13:37:30 (none) local0.notice cgminer[449]: Chain 3 ASIC 72 !!!

So restart does not work. Does turn off, wait 1 min and turn back on work? It that still does not work then probably you did lose a board. also check all connections, data and power.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sia mining - clean? on: May 31, 2017, 12:44:19 AM
Why don't you use Simpleminer and merge mine or dual mine ETH and SC (Sia)
which uses Clayomre?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1541084.0

Or use Claymore Direct if using a windows rig.

66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question about LTC solo mining on: May 27, 2017, 04:14:57 PM
I have been mining Litecoin merged with Doge in a solo mining pool for almost 2 years. I have also PPS pool mined prior to that also.

Mathematically over time you will receive the same if you solo mine or pool mine based on your hashrate.

PPS pool mining you will receive more frequent smaller payouts.
Solo mining, or solo pool mining you will receive fewer larger payouts including the block reward and transaction fees (less any solo pool fee).
On http://ltc.tbdice.org sometimes the transaction fees in the block are enough to cover the .005 pool fee and I receive 25 LTC and change.
Most of the time I receive 24.85 to 24.95 LTC
On the merged mine Doge I receive 9500 Doge + transaction fees. The pool keeps 500 Doge.

With the LTC and Doge combined value I receive about 110% of just mining LTC as if yesterday.

I would recommend to solo or solo pool mine you should have enough hash to find at least 1 block or more per week as its can get frustrating to go days with no rewards.
That is the reason many people PPS pool mine.

At the current difficulty of 241,000 (rounded) you would need about 4 L3+ or 2000 Mh/s to find  a LTC block a week, and maybe 4 blocks of Doge.

Good Luck  Smiley

67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: May 24, 2017, 06:40:58 PM
if the pool is reporting the LTC blocks found that you have had extraordinary luck as 1 L3+ should find a LTC block every 22 days at current difficulty.
2 L3+ would find a block every 11 days.

If your L3+ is reporting the blocks found it is a combination of any LTC blocks and merged mined coins.

Litecoinpool for example pays over 100% in LTC by mergemining LTC and another coin to cover profit and expenses.

If you want to solo merge mine LTC and Doge go to Ltc.tbdice.org

68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quick question about scrypt mining difficulty on: May 14, 2017, 11:40:48 AM
Hi all,

Another noob just doing some research into mining. Wanted to quickly ask:

Does the difficulty increase / decrease of particular coins (such as litecoin) impact the difficulty of other coins using scrypt?

Or is the coin difficulty completely independent of each other?

For example will Litecoin's difficulty increase / decrease affect the difficulty of Gamecoin?

Thanks in advance, greatly appreciated.

The difficulty increase/ decrease of one coin does not directly impact the difficulty of other coins.
The difficulty of each coin is completely independent of each other.

However the difficulty increase/decrease of a coin can indirectly can impact the difficulty of other coins.

Say Litecoin difficulty increases. some miners may switch to a different coin to mine and thereby increasing the difficulty of the other coin.

I have been a fan of AMD for years and all my GPU rigs use AMD cpu motherboards.
Obviously all my GPUs are are AMD Chipset also.  Wink

So I received my  Seasonic ATX12V / EPS12V 660 Power Supply SS-660XP2

and it does not power on . .  Undecided

Did you " jump" the PSU, or use a antminer switch on the motherboard connector to the PSU?

It will not come on unless you do.

71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best / Most efficient power supply for 2 Baikalminer Cube's on: May 05, 2017, 05:45:19 AM
Bronze rated. Thumbs Down.
You don't have much of a load, but it will be on 24/7 for months or years. Gold rated minimum, platinum recommend.

Can you elaborate on why? States 5 year warranty?

It looks like you already received some good recommendations, but here are the specs on the PSU you are looking at.

https://plugloadsolutions.com/psu_reports/CORSAIR_RPS0063%20(CP-9020120)(CX450)_450W_ECOS%204818_Report.pdf

A bronze rated psu is at the low end of the 80% efficiency certification. It would be fine for a home computer that runs 3 to 6 hours a day without much of a load.

We are running mining equipment at full throttle 24/7 for months or even years at a time.  This would be considered enterprise duty.
The difference between you input wattage and output wattage goes to heat generation. SO the higher efficiency the smaller difference in input and output watts the smaller the heat generation from the PSU. We already have a ASIC or GPU that in the process is very efficient at converting the input watts to heat while hashing. Some people literally heat their house in the winter with their miners.
If the PSU is getting hot, then the connectors to the PSU are getting hot. Like I have seen the connectors go to 135, 145, 150+ degrees F, and start to smoke and then you have a burnt connector.  The hotter a connector gets the higher its resistance to the flow of current, and it gets hotter and hotter, etc.

Most down time on miners is PSU related.
The ASIC is designed for 24/7 operation. The standard PSU is not.
The higher the efficiency and if you load is in the range of peak efficiency the less stress on your PSU even running it 24/7.
A server PSU is designed to run 24/7.

Obviously you load will be light with the 2 300 Mh/s Baikal cubes.

You did state in the OP "Best/Most efficient power supply"

@naron

I would say most likely The IP address of the miner has changed or is not what you think it is.
Do a ipscan of your network and find the miners ip address and then log into that.
Or log into your router and look in the device table and try to find it.

Good Luck  Smiley

74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: April 20, 2017, 06:58:18 PM

ETH is probability zero, since it's going PoS "sometime soon" - though "soon" seems to keep getting pushed back.
ETC market is probably too small to support an ASIC.

[/quote]

While I don't disagree with your conclusions I do want to point out that ETH has 5 x the hashrate and 9 x the market cap that LTC does.

ETH market cap of about 4.5 Billion is second only to BTC, while LTC market cap of .5 Billion places it in 4th position, and about equal to #5 Dash.

Just for the sake of any newbies following along.  Smiley

You can solo merged mine LTD and Doge at  http://ltc.tbdice.org
I have been solo mining on this pool for 1.5 years.

Also if you power is expensive We host mining equipment at our data center at $55 a KW per month.

So for a L3+  your power cost per month would be $44.

This seems like a very reasonable deal? Is there some hidden catch? Also, can anyone explain to me the $500 difference between buying first batch and second? It it simply because they think the difficulty will rise substantially following second batch? Just wondering. Thanks. Anyone have suggestions on hosting options? Cheesy
