I guess it is time to trot this out again...
From the Batch 3 terms of sales:

Quote
Limited Customer Support - The Avalon team is comprised of a small group of capable people; however, we are also extremely limited in manpower. Every one of us handles multitude of tasks, and for this reason we will have very limited customer support. No news is good news. We apologize for this, but we do not expect this situation to change.

That item doesn't seem to be batch specific  Grin

Best course is to wait for the next update.
I am sure it will be coming shortly.
In the meantime ... enjoy the good news!  Wink

No news is not good news when they are shipping the 55 BTC order machines prioritized after the WalletBit users who paid 75+. I am sorry but this is not okay, in any fashion of the word. If I had known this would've been happening I would've made a point to talk to Yifu more directly about the inequities in the shipping process... this is just simply not OK. Us Feb 2nd customers are being treated like lemmings.
262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: June 03, 2013, 09:17:53 PM
Called DHL today, they have absolutely nada related to anything shipping to me. I am a Feb 2nd order.
263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: June 03, 2013, 06:57:51 PM
I think the least Avalon could do at this juncture, considering the millions and millions of dollars they have made from the community, would be to issue a newsletter update and explain why people who ordered on Feb 2nd are being furloughed and people who ordered on Feb 18th are receiving units.

I met Yifu at Bitcoin 2013 and he seems like a nice guy, but it really feels like he couldn't care about his customers at this point... which is fine, he just needs to ship the units or give all the BTC back. Given the tremendous price increase since February, the 150+ btc on the line for some like myself represents a huge cash parachute that could be paying off the mortgage, etc.

Yifu if you read this just know I think you have done by and large superbly up to this point with Batch 1, but there are many like myself who would just really appreciate the common courtesy of having a simple newsletter update re the status of Batch 2. I think that's reasonable.

I thought that the last update from Avalon was at the end of April/begining of May.  Hopefully we'll receive another monthly update this week.

Would be nice, but only the MailChimp gods can know at this point...

266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ATTN] BitSyncom: What happened to my Batch 1 order? on: June 02, 2013, 06:01:58 PM
Bump!

bump for a man in need. come on avalon!
267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 31, 2013, 07:30:40 PM

If you invested BTC 76.2 for a batch #2 machine, you need to be able to generate those BTC 76.2 back,
otherwise you don't break even.

It does not matter what the underlying USD exchange rate is, unless for those who need to pay their electricity bills

If you want to see the exact prices people paid for each batch, check my earlier post

I am keeping track of some Avalon purchases.  I update it every day or two:

http://cointext.com/bitcoin-mining-profitability-an-example/

Awesome for you. Congrats.

For me I'm struggling to not be annoyed. I attempted to order that day(Feb 2), but I only had two hours with which to place an order. Walletbit's incredible incompetence + having to go to work foiled my plans. On Feb 3 I was successful...I think, though I've never received confirmation of anything batch 2 related from Avalon themselves(6 unanswered tickets). Here you've been mining with gear you ordered hours ahead of me for nearly two weeks. Others that ordered days after I did are also mining. <sigh> <end rant>

In the same boat as you friend, it is really something...

Still nothing with regards to my batch 2.
269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 31, 2013, 01:08:53 AM
Great News! Received DHL tracking for my Feb 17th order. Bad News! I have heard nothing about my Feb 3rd order's. Feb 17th order I did receive an order number for. Feb 3rd is the Walletbit purchase issue.

I am not sure how they are going to let people know about Walletbit orders. DHL tracking and all since they where never entered into the Avalon Store.

Yes I did open a support ticket on both Feb 3rd orders on Feb 4th. However, I received no reply.

All my orders where purchased as Guest.

Nice! That's great news. Btw -- sweet bike, what is that?
270  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 30, 2013, 09:38:59 PM
No word back yet but it is very disheartening to see people who ordered 2 weeks later than myself having their units shipped. Hypothetically what would we do if we never receive our units? I see a few from Batch 1 that have still yet to get delivery.

Ordered feb2 as registered user, nothing yet, not even an order in the store Sad

Might want to get a support ticket created ASAP.

Thanks for the suggestion, put in another support request. Crossing my fingers!

BTCSQL

1 unit
Bought & paid via BTC Feb 2nd, as registered user
No order in account page, Avalon confirmed
274  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 15, 2013, 07:30:39 PM
I also purchased within the first 10 minutes of Batch 2 opening, and am still waiting to see the order in my account page on Avalon.

Only confirmation I have is a message from a support ticket a few months ago that simply says "Your order is proceed correct on our end."

[...] recent inactivity on the part of the fund manager is intentional - he hasn't been on irc either. I imagine the likely explanation is person had some irl stuff to attend to

James is out of town this whole week. He'll be back on the 18th.

I understand completely -- please excuse any undertones of criticism that may have penetrated my post; I do think Havelock provides a very valuable service, I was irrelevantly echoing how I would manage the fund to the benefit of all parties. Hopefully when James comes back he will consider matching the Havelock order book with MPEX shares so the spread doesn't approach 20%.
278  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] SDICE Passthru on: February 12, 2013, 09:23:30 PM
As someone who was initially very impressed with the fund, I am now left wondering -- why hasn't Havelock taken advantage of the order book and filled the orders with new share units created from the MPEX sell side? I am sure there is a certain level of desire to keep the Havelock fund trading at X% premium for what ever reason, but it is not really a good reason... I don't think it's right for the fund to trade at an upwards of 20% premium to the underlying. For instance, right now there are 7000 shares on MPEX at an ask of .0063, and the Havelock bid is up to .736 for 21 units (2100 mpex shares).

There are only a few ways to resolve this issue, which is of course an issue because it means people are over paying by a significant amount. One would be: let people convert MPEX shares into the Havelock pass thru units, which I see is already existent -- although the process for conversion is not clear. The other would be: Havelock manages their order book as any broker would, and matches supply to demand, simply buying the units on MPEX and flipping them to the bids on Havelock.

This arbitrage needs to take place for the market to remain healthy, and frankly I am left feeling suspect as to why this hasn't already occurred. It seems to me (please correct me if I am wrong) that there is nothing stopping Havelock from buying the shares on MPEX, creating units (incrementing a SQL entry) on Havelock, and selling them to the market. It would be better for all parties involved if this kind of additional liquidity would be provided to Havelock shareholders.

I believe it is the duty of the fund to take advantage of these market dislocations when they exist to improve the overall efficiency, structure, and liquidity of our dear BTC markets. Look forward to hearing a response from James et al
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Unable to mine LiteCoins? on: February 11, 2013, 12:29:15 AM
Hello everyone,

In a feeble attempt to try to mine some litecoins, I have tried ScryptMiner and reaper13v4. All attempts to join a pool and start mining result in an error message.
For ScryptMiner, it's "Couldn't connect. Try check user/password." (clearly my user/pass are OK)
For reaper, it's "Couldn't connect to server. Trying again soon.."

I tried disabling windows firewall entirely, and port forwarding 9332, 8080, and 8332 to my internal IP on the router, and nothing. What can I do to open up the path of communication so I can actually see what kind of hashes this computer can generate?

All help is most appreciated, thanks.
280  Economy / Securities / Re: S.DICE - SatoshiDICE 100% Dividend-Paying Asset on MPEx on: February 10, 2013, 08:43:32 PM
It sounds like Erik fucked up. I think he should just take responsibility for the mistake, apologize, and move on. This will damage his reputation for further issues.

I did make a mistake, which was to post the shares on the market without any warning. I apologize for this, and won't do it again. The lesson I learned is the market doesn't like surprises, even good ones. This was my mistake, and I'm happy to take responsibility for it.

Yet it was not a mistake to post shares at the price I posted them at. Some people were mad because they're own worth "on paper" dropped for about 48 hrs. I wonder if people who were upset about that should perhaps stick to mutual funds. S.DICE shares are going to be volatile, please don't be in the market if you're not ready for that. And please don't have a time horizon of 48 hrs., that's a recipe for investment disaster.

To all those who thanked me for the inexpensive shares, you're welcome. And thank you for being mature and rational about how values and prices work.

The "tranches" were really a gift, for any astute, risk-whetted person who understands that the investment (like Bitcoin) could become worthless. Of course the lack of prior disclosure is cause for some to be upset, but, this is Bitcoin, and so it goes. As always, those who try to play the markets casually, will be taken to the pen and slaughtered by those who study and watch constantly. In this case, the serious interested parties in S.DICE who, like myself, watch the price numerous times per day looking for opportunities to build my stake, happen to be given a gift of temporarily lower prices. This is really no different than some algorithm going AWOL on the NYSE, and selling the stock all the way down to 0.01, except in this case, trades aren't cancelled and reversed. I believe in free markets, and I know full well that the limited market cap and liquidity of these stocks means that there can at times be serious dislocations between NBBO and true value. These times represent opportunities, and you have to take advantage of them. So long as your horizon is years, not days, and you are willing to lose it all, just calm down and watch this thing play out, I guarantee it will be a wild ride. Thank you Erik for taking the time to respond to all of our inquiries -- it reflects brightly on your capacity as both a human being and a business man.
