1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OregonMines.com - Bitcoin & Ethereum Miner Colocation on: January 23, 2018, 10:34:32 PM
I have been an Oregon Mines customer for about 1 year now. I am very happy with their facility. I have about 20 miners (Bitmain, Avalon, and Ebit) hosted there. They have always responded to any issues with miners being down and needing a reboot. The only downtime I have experienced is once, when they adding more capacity, the power was shut down for a few hours.

They setup up my VPN access quickly, and without issue.

Though they are a little slow lately at responding to email, they always take care of an issue in a reasonable time frame. Recently had a miner go down. I emailed that night and it was back on line with in a few hours after finding it was a dead psu.

Their invoicing process is sometimes rather slow, but they always get my new miners up and running within a day or two after delivery.

Im in the middle of my ramp up and for two days my shift graph is stuck at 7.87.

But my th rate is 13..

Why is that?
Not sure what you are looking at it. It would help if you post a picture. But if it's the red line on the graph page, that is just an average of the whole graph which is about 23 or 24 days, so it takes time for it to move up.

The last 2 network blocks were found by Ant, were 12.5 BTC and only 286 Bytes each. Does that mean there were no transactions on them? Is that something that normally happens?
Yes, Antpoo does that quite often. Slush even does it from time to time.

It hurts all of us when they mine empty blocks.

On an unrelated note, I still don't see any payment from the Christmas block yet....anyone else?  Haven't changed anything on my end re: wallet...
Yep. I got it yesterday. Transaction 2005503c1365521c933e596b05ddc72cc805525f121a80a3a71c42d9ba87d67b

I see nothing on blockchain.info for mine.   This is before the last block was found on 12/30/17..
Well, you did ask about the Christmas block.

The one from yesterday 12/30 hadn't reached 101 confirmations when we found today's block.

So Interesting fun fact.  My new S9's some have firmware from July, while others have firmware from Nov 17, and a version like S9_V2.54   But on their website, they only have the newest from Aug 15..  Now Why would they not have the newest one on there?  I had an issue with the first S9 I got like a month ago, with fan speed ramping constantly, the firmware fixed that so it stayed on more consistent.  So Now I am baffled if I should overwrite the Nov 17 with the Aug 15 that had better fan control.

Any opinions?
They probably sent you refurbished miners or miners they used in their farm/hashnest.

If the miner is working properly, don't change the firmware. There have been stories of people bricking machines with newer firmware.

I want to beat a dead horse again.

About the 5nd and how close i am to passing 5nd.

Using one s9 under the last reward for block 500622 it has your n avg is 12.96.

Under workers/shiftgraph my red line is at 10.90.

I think im close. But not sure im there yet to get full payout.
It sounds like your pretty much there as an s9, depending on which one you have, is ~13.5th/s +/-5%. If you are referring to the graph on the workers->shift graph page, the red shaded area is the last 5nd. The whole graph is, I believe, 21 days. The red line is the avg of the whole graph, not of your 5nd.
8  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why all miners need to mine on a pool that pays them the tx fees. on: December 23, 2017, 09:41:59 PM
I looked at it more closely since the top six keep fees   but via.btc does  give back some of them at the monment.

So  the top five are a no go zero money sense to mine on them.

Viabtc is more complex.  they are  paying more then the block  but not all the fees to the miners.

but the top five simply can not be used.
I'm not pushing viabtc, but that is only their pps+ that pays partial fees. The pplns pays fees and they actually use a 5nd method like kano.is

The do however charge a 2% fee like slush which is more than double the normal kano.is rate.

Way to go! Cheesy
22.67BTC

Sweet size! We got one of the current FAT ones! Cheesy
I think that's our best block since the halving!

Getting a couple S9's online, 14TH batch. Any way to adjust the fan speed and Clock anymore? cold basement and chips are 68-71. I'd like to turn fans down for noise and run chips around 88-92. I remember seeing a URL link to still access the fan and clock settings, latest shipped FW does not have those options anymore.
Doing the ip reporter reset will give you access to the fan speed again. It is discussed here https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3957

I have done this reset on a faulty R4 and though it did not fix my isssue it did give back the "customize the fan speed percentage" option.

6. Though that is what I have read on the internet. It might just be one.

No.  As I said before it's 101 for newly mined coins.  It's 6 confirmations when transferring already matured coins.

As he said. New blocks must reach 101 confirmations before being paid. Not just at Kano, but everywhere.

Well, that makes sense. I wasn't sure you saw the part about not kano blocks. Everything I read said 6 confirmations. But they also talked about a vulnerability at 0 confirmations and a 51% vulnerability for under 6 confirmations and I wasn't sure those were valid vulnerabilities anymore.
For transfers, it's pretty much up to the maker of the wallet you are using. I know Electrum uses 6 confirmations. Some online wallets like Blockchain and CEX.IO only need 3 before they consider it spendable again.

The network has grown so huge that it would take an enormous investment to mount a 51% attack. But it is still possible. Though it would destroy all confidence and BTC and likely wipe out the value of it. In so doing you would just corner the market on something that no longer had value.

hi,

can anyone confirm weather the payments for the last 2 blocks have already been sent or weather they are still pending? the website shows them as sent, but i cannot find them, for some reason...

thanks!

The pool has to find another block which will include the payment transaction.

But we found 2 so shouldn't the first one be sent to our wallets already and then the second one we found be sent at the next block we find?
Also can someone tell me how many confirmations a blocked needs to be completely confirmed in the blockchain, not the kano pool but the actual bitcoin system?

13  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: December 10, 2017, 09:22:55 PM
now this is weird a few blocks we did hit today and have been removed from the hash graph as if they were confliced/orphan blocks..  But slush is still showing them in the rewards and in the block history page and nothing is mentioning that that they were invalid blocks.

all this are no longer showing in the graph with a red line and also no longer showing in my rewards page were they should of been while waiting for 100 confirmations.  and if they were conflicted or orphaned it would be nice if slush was transparent about them and just marked them as such. here are 4 of the 6 blocks we got that are now missing from the hash graph and yet still shown in there block history as if we got them with out being orphaned or conflicted with any other pool finding them blocks at the same time as us.

I have them on the rewards page. The graph sometimes bugs out for old blocks, I guess. https://blockchain.info/blocks does show we got these blocks.

I think Slush's dashboard do show invalid blocks in the reward page.
I'm pretty sure that the graph only shows the last 10 blocks. So when blocks are hit that quickly, they disappear from the left side.

I'm still debating on switching to slush from kano.

I actually have one s9 on both.

I cant tell which one would be best Smiley
Each comes with it's pluses and minuses. Many people keep their hashrate split among two or more pools to minimize the effects of bad luck. A "not keeping all your eggs in one basket" approach.

I guess that makes sense. I cant figure out the 5nd so I'm not sure how much per s9 the payout is. per block.
5nd isn't too hard, but it is better asked in the Kano pool thread. It has been explained several times in the last few pages there.

The difficulty increase of 18.1% seems to have changed everything. We were going along pretty good until then. Is the only way to overcome that just adding hashing power? Would it take an 18.1% increase in miner hash to have stayed at the near 100% luck point?

edit: That would have been a 4.88PH/s increase needed just to stay current
It just moves the length of time it takes to submit enough shares to reach 100%. But since the pool hashrate jumped from ~21Ph/s to ~28Ph/s, we actually were ahead of the 18% diff increase and shortened the 5nd by a couple of days.

Maybe ill reach my 5nd before the block
I hope not! That would mean a 500% block.

I'm new to the scene as well.

I have 2 S9's, 1 S4 and 1 S3...

So that's around 28-30 ths a month..

Can I really expect 0.380 btc for 26th/sna month?

Because that's incredible !!! That is way better than admin Antpool - all of them, which are saying I'd make only .169 a month..
Well that's based on his calc of what the pool is earning now. If it kept up at 147% luck, plus the fact that Kano pool shares the rewards with the miners and Antpoo doesn't.

Antpoo is scamming people out of hundreds of thousands every day by not sharing fees and they don't even notice. When they are only paying 12.5 BTC per block and Kano pool is paying 13.8 BTC per block (avg so far), you would definitely make more here even at 100% luck.
19  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s9 won't mine on: December 04, 2017, 08:46:19 PM
I've run across this with a single card before but never the whole miner. A soft reboot usually clears it up. If that doesn't work you can try the IP Reporter reset described on the Bitmain forum page here https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3957

Hey everyone.  I had a question.

I turned on my three s9's today.  Usually, when I check the rewards tab, I get a value under "your scoring hash rate"  Since starting up, all three machines are running a total of 42th/s,  but the "your scoring hash rate" is still showing no value.

I am concerned that somehow the miners aren't being assigned a task.

Any ideas?

thanks

Check and make sure your username is correct in the miner. Leaving a space before your name can cause this or a misspelling. Also posting a screen shot of the miner status and configuration page would be helpful.
