282  Economy / Games and rounds / Free ZNC accounts on: December 26, 2015, 10:45:31 PM
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Znc

So, if you're in need of ZNC, post here. This is my Christmas gift to Bitcointalk members.
I'll PM the first 10 people to  get your info and you'll then get an account.

The ZNC server is on my personal webserver and you should experience minimal downtime.
I allow all IRC networks.

Did a quick search and found this[1] guide. Skimmed it and it looks fine to me. Just skip step 0, the rest guides you through installation, key generation and pubkey importing. You will mostly use kleopatra.

[1] https://www.deepdotweb.com/2015/02/21/pgp-tutorial-for-windows-kleopatra-gpg4win/

Thank you for the guide but how can I unload my key from keybase to gpg4win? https://keybase.io/kingaltcoins

Can you help me please?

Nope sorry, never had a keybase.io account.

If you want the pubkey in armor, it's always here: https://keybase.io/kingaltcoins/key.asc
Or did you generate the keypair directly on keybase and you want to export it?
284  Other / New forum software / Re: I Suggest in Forum Chat Box and Simple Games Section on: December 26, 2015, 04:09:40 PM
I've seen it on other forums

Okay.

it allows faster communication

PM.

it has to be paid for to prevent abuse

There would be lots of people here willing to pay up to chat - so many that the chat would be flooded (although it wouldn't necessarily be abuse, people are just chatting normally but the amount of people chatting would be enormous).

Also, I'm sure many companies would see it as a "pay to spam your message and website to other people and possibly get some clicks before you're banned!" thing.

One more side note, there would have to be a lot more moderators for the chat as well.

Having an IRC channel would solve all of these problems.

Oh wait! #bitcoin already exists!

a paid chatbox with different commands like commands to display bitcoin price would be nice, i've seen it on other forums and it works

But why? This is a forum. You can talk to people by posting posts. You can see the current Bitcoin price on bitcoinity.
And paying to post on the chatbox Huh
287  Other / New forum software / Re: Email notification when a profile gets a new trust. on: December 26, 2015, 01:16:31 PM
Should be easy to implement, why not.

I just don't know how it will affect the server... The sent emails would probably double.
288  Other / New forum software / Re: I Suggest in Forum Chat Box and Simple Games Section on: December 26, 2015, 01:14:10 PM
It's a damn forum, not your living area...
The chatbox is stupid, the games are stupid. There's already too many IRC channels you can use for chatting about Bitcoin and they're way better than some chatbox that would sit pointlessly somewhere on my screen, collecting spam from random users.

The games, I don't even...

Please stop trying to turn this forum into a children's playground.

289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any update on Open Bazaar ? on: December 26, 2015, 01:09:34 PM
Last time I checked they Open Bazaar team moved release date of their software for Win, Linux and MAC from January of 2016 to March, or something like that.
And I feel that this delay is not the last one we will be seeing.

All the source is here: https://github.com/openbazaar
You could track the development... It should give you a rough estimate on when to expect stuff.
290  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are paper wallets really secure? on: December 26, 2015, 01:07:56 PM
When I want to create a paper wallet, I use vanity gen on an offline computer to generate the address and I change the text to QR code using a website which work offline

Thats a good idea, i may get my laptop setup just for this and transfer all my wallets i made online. Do you have a link for something that can convert addresses to QR offline?

thanks

qrencode for Linux and qrencode-win32 for Windows will do what you want.

Superb, i already have linux installed on my laptop so all i have to do is find a vanity gen that works on linux, or just copy my private and public from my main pc. Anyway fantastic cheers.

Perhaps your distro already has vanitygen as a precompiled package. If not, you can get the source here: https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen

there is still no windows support yet, i doubt it will take off without that, at this point it will be before the halving, i'm fairly sure

OpenBazzar works on Windows too AFAIK.
293  Economy / Reputation / Re: The BCT PGP/GPG Public Key Database: Stake Your PGP Key Here on: December 26, 2015, 11:32:55 AM
What's the actual point of this, when we have all the keyservers already?

Where is that keyserver loaded? Can you send me the link please?

Can I save my key there like I did here?

Well, for starters if you want a fancy keyserver you can get on keybase.io.
Otherwise you have pgp.mit.edu, keyserver.ubuntu.com, keyserver.pgp.com

Yes. But I am worried that pgp.mit.edu, keyserver.ubuntu.com, keyserver.pgp.com  doesnot work with Windows computers. They are for Linux users. Huh

So it will be useless for Windows users. And keybase.io is complicated a little bit too for me because I am a new user.

What do you mean they do not work with Windows computers?
You can open the website in your browser and paste your pubkey there.

296  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Putin will rule Russia for life? on: December 26, 2015, 11:10:43 AM
putin is a mafia and kremlins are mafiozo Angry

Obama is Abu Bakr al Baghdadi and the Obamites are Islamic State.  Grin

Actually, Putin is the one who eradicated the Russian mafia from the top government positions. Now there are more Russian mafia members in various Western European nations such as Spain, United Kingdom and Italy, than the number they are having in Russia.

This. The other countries are the actual mafia.

But mind me, I'm just waiting for someone to go to war with Russia.
297  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: December 24, 2015, 10:41:03 PM
If I could open a pharmacy that accepts only bitcoin and put it right next to a grocery store that only accepts bitcoin, I'd be well on my way to replacing fiat with bitcoin.  I do not see this happening in my lifetime.  But it is a nice thought.  Bitcoin has so much potential to blur political boundaries.

What's stopping you from doing it? At least the grocery store. It doesn't have to be huge... Think as a small local business.
"Greatness from small beginnings."
298  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: December 24, 2015, 07:43:58 PM
what people forget is that bitcoin does not need to replace fiat to become globally adopted, it can reach adoption without the collapse of fiat or other catastrophic scenario

i can see bitcoin working side by side withbig circuit like visa and mastercard withut any problem, as new way of payments for many people in the future

It is very difficult, because bitcoin cannot handel the tx/s like the other method od payment (visa, mastercard, etc.. ) it is only an alternative, nothing else.

That's the problem, being limited to 3-4 transactions per second.
What banks do is process their transactions once a day, in bulk.
