281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: April 03, 2017, 09:41:24 AM
Fair enough, do you think that the coin is going to launch at some point this month or are we looking at may, june, july, ect? ( Doesnt have to be exact just what you are roughly planning for)

I just re-read my previous reply to you and I think it sounded kind of rude so I just wanted to apologize to you for how I came off in my comment. I was not trying to be rude or mean in anyway. I am sorry.

BIG RED FLAG - WARNING - ALL DEPOSITS ON COINEXCHANGE ARE FINAL DO NOT INVEST HIGH RISK TO GET SCAMMED

Thanks for the warning but I have pretty much already figured that out on my own from all the questions I have been asking them. I will never give any ICO a dime anyway, I am a miner and a miner only, I support networks by mining, never by buying coins at an ICO.
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: April 03, 2017, 03:55:28 AM

Why are you using spreadcoin and not a more well known coin? For all we know youve been buying up a crap ton of those coins for weeks and you are going to distribute a massive amount to yourself.  Im all in on the project, but if you are going to do distribution through an unknown coin, why not just ICO it. At least you would be honest on how much of a cut youd be taking.

Thanks for popping in.

The history of Helium is deeply tied to Spreadcoin, so while it may serve as a relatively unknown coin, it embodies several years of history, sacrifice and commitment. We made an announcement some time ago and will be giving people ample opportunity before any snapshot is taken. To see the announcement and the rationale why this is happening, see here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045373.msg18030003#msg18030003

Unknown coin?Huh What is this dude talking about? When I first got into crypto in Jan of 2016 Spreadcoin was one of the first coins I found, and I mined Spreadcoin solo for about 6 months when the network hashrate was between 250-300mhs total. The only reason you think it's not a well known coin is because it isn't worth $500 a coin and the only reason you know about it now is because of the recent price increase I bet... If you look around more constantly looking for coins with good development and good ideas instead of just chasing the coin that is worth the most you would find a lot more of these coins that you call "Unknown."
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] COINONAT-BLOCKCHAIN EQUALITY-ASIC-RESISTANT-POW-GPU/CPU LOW TEMPERATURE on: April 02, 2017, 07:36:22 AM

When this happened to me I installed both of the Visual C++ on the OP and it still wouldn't work for me. Once I restarted my computer it magically worked though so I don't know.

Which version you installed for Visual C++ ?
I rebooted my computer 3-4 times already but not worked yet.

However all other altcoins wallets working perfectly except this Sad

I just installed the 2 64bit versions that were linked on page 8 or 7 of this thread. I installed the 2010 and the 2017 and neither worked, but once I restarted for something else the wallet started working again so I don't know... It seems to have a mind of its own.

it's definitely the wallet, it can't sync and cause a crash

Me too getting same error Sad
Tried everything but no success on Windows 7 x64
Installed Visual C++ 2005,2008,2010,2013,2015,2017 all but no success

I request OP to update windows wallet or check for the problem.

When this happened to me I installed both of the Visual C++ on the OP and it still wouldn't work for me. Once I restarted my computer it magically worked though so I don't know.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [NETKO][NETKO] PoW/PoS | NO PREMINE | BLAKE2S | 8.MARCH 2017 on: April 02, 2017, 06:23:08 AM

Leaving coins in a wallet that most will forget about/will just uninstall when they see the market cap isn't too different from leaving them on a high sell order indefinitely.

Until you realize that exchanges can and do occasionally go belly up.
I was around during the mintpal and cryptsy fiasco. Thankfully I lost very little but it taught me a lesson.

Back then bittrex and poloniex were minor players in this field. Now they are big and appear solid but so did mintpal.

I will never leave a significant amount on exchanges unless I really intend to trade it

I was one of the luck ones that didnt have a penny on cryptsy (maybe some dogecoins).

By now i truelly hope that people have figured out that exchanges are a place for trading cryptocoins NOT holding them.

The bigger the exhange gets the more attractive they become to attackers.

Yeah, I don't care if a coin is POS or POW or whatever it is, I only ever hold all my coins in their wallet on my computer and NEVER on an exchange. If I do send coins to an exchange and set a little bit higher price than what is being traded I will not leave them there for more than 2 days max and I'll send them back to my wallet. I hate having coins that are not in my direct control.

These replies are ignoring the main point of my argument.

It was never about holding coins on the exchange, of course that is a bad idea - but it was about the purpose of PoS, given, regardless of whether coins are being held on exchanges or actively traded, the market still loses a large portion of healthy coin circulation.

The argument that PoS is so people don't lose coins on exchanges can be counter-argued with, well, a large portion of people already keep their coins in their wallet during the times they are not trading with them, just not long enough to warrant staking them.

This will only result in a smaller market cap and less people taking the time to look into the coin to invest and use it for its main purpose. The value of the coin is crippled, which doesn't help regardless of the supply amount.

So, the main question: Why PoS? How does Netko benefit from it?

I understand your point of view and I'm not saying that I dissagree with it. All I can do is speak for myself and my habbits as far as coin trading/holding goes.

As for myself I hold coins in my wallets for a very long time no matter POW or POS. I rarely ever sell coins, please don't ask why, my reasons are my own. But for my habbits I obviously love POS becuase I always hold coins for a very long time and I only have one computer so I can only mine one coin at a time, POS gives me the ability to keep collecting coins that I mined a lot of but no longer wish to mine.

I understand the market cap point and less people taking time to look into the coin because I do not buy coins either, I only mine. So when I do come across a coin that is POS only (no more mining left) I will not even research the coin or anything, it is a dead coin to me. So I hate POS on that end and I completely agree with you.

So trust me, I see both sides of what you are saying. Like I said, I can only speak on behalf of myself and my coin usage habbits. I'm not trying to start or join an argument, I just wanted to add my 2 mBTC.

While examing your Windows binary for integrity with PE Explorer, I noticed this reference to "ZeroCoin tests" after the wallet is loaded:

Can you please explain what your function in the Windows Coinonat wallet for a "ZeroCoin test" does and what it's purpose is? Why does it search for ZeroCoin?

Code:
 SSZ009D5726_Loading_wallet___:
  db 'Loading wallet...',0

 SSZ009D5738______ZeroCoin_tests_start_____:
db 0Ah,'=== ZeroCoin tests start ===',0Ah,0

 SSZ009D5757_____ZeroCoin_tests_end______:
db '=== ZeroCoin tests end ===',0Ah,0Ah,0

Very curious, much thanks in advance.

i hope this is just a copy and post thing during the creation of the wallet. or is it possible that the wallet wants to steal coins?

You keep saying that all questions are answered in the first page but apparently 1. you haven't read the questions people are asking. 2. You're too stupid to understand the questions. 3. You are just ignoring them. I have read the 1st page like 4 times now trying to find answers to these questions.

The first page only explains where 2,500,000 of the premined coins are going 1mil to ICO and 1.5mil to bounties. It does not explain all 6 million at all... So of my 3 possibilities listed I'm going with option 2 for this one.

And the code in the above quote has gone a long time now without you even acknowledging it... Why on earth would you have ZeroCoin tests or whatever that code is? I'm 1000000% sure that this isn't explained on the 1st page so of the 3 possibilities I already listed I'm going with option 3.

   All questions answered and updated.

I am still not finding an answer to the question of the 6 million premined coins.

Again, "The first page only explains where 2,500,000 of the premined coins are going 1mil to ICO and 1.5mil to bounties. It does not explain all 6 million at all..." So where are the leftover 3.5 million coins going??

You also still have not addressed the question "Where is the 58 BTC going from the crowdsale?" The only thing it says on the OP is "58 BTC is needed from the crowdsale" But it says nothing about what this 58 BTC is needed for, where it is going, what it is going to be spent on, just nothing...

I have also seen the question of leftover coins from the ICO, what are you going to do with coins that do not sell? Are you going to just keep them for yourselves? Are you going to send them to an eater address? I have seen this question asked but not answered.

The 58 BTC ICO fund will be used for immediate support in the coin's node and explorer hosting, website maintenance, awareness and promotion of the coin to get maximum adoption and for possible near future improvement. 1.5 million coin will go for the bounty program while the remaining 3.5million coins will stay with  Dev. for long term support of the coin improvement and to provide for any other future uncertainty from the next 15 to 30 years.

All unsold coin will be burnt by the exchanger.

Thank you for finally answering those questions for all of us. Smiley

No release date yet?

A fork can be released in about 3 or 4 days. Most of that time is building the windows wallet (about a day).

We're taking our time for a reason. I hope you understand: we're here for the long-term, so we need to put the foundations in place and most of those foundation are essential and non-technical.

Take all the time you want Coins101, I'm here no matter how long it takes, and it's better to take extra time to get it right the first time!
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HONEY] Honey - NO ICO - NO PREMINE - Sweet! on: April 01, 2017, 02:47:58 PM
I was mining NEVA on yiimp yesterday. I had only a NEVA address in my .bat and I had c=NEVA in the options. However for some reason I earned a honey reward, no idea what they are going to do with that reward since it cannot be sent to a NEVA address. But this obviously means that not 100% of my hashes are going to the coin I want and I do not like that. So the only way I am currently mining NEVA is solo, the only way I mine NETKO is on suprnova.cc and honey I also only solo now. That's all I have to say about that.

You can use https://aikapool.com/ for dedicated NEVA mining.

Maybe aikapool would add Honey too? Anyone tried contacting aikapool for honey?

I emailed aikapool, but no reply... :|

Also, another long block. I'm thinking of moving the soft fork up to block 21300 or so....

Seems like coin-miners pool is down, or is having some issues.

I think just their website is having issues. I am still able to mine on them and they are still sending out payments. What about talking to ocminer to see if HONEY can get a suprnova.cc pool??

Awesome, I will have to take a trip over to that pool later then. I am hitting a new coin right now with everything I've got but once I'm done I'll switch some hashes back over there.

I don't know if anyone from the HONEY team has talked to them.

more than 650k XRE were bought, the equivalent of next 6 months of mining for 1,3 btc , not bad  Grin

Maybe someone knows something that we don't and they are getting ready for a price increase.

ICO is already live.

Maybe you should answer a few questions, before people think about investing in this coin ?!

See my questions in the last post of the last page,
see the question above...

Good Luck
Banger

Yeah, I see too many good and unanswered questions... I wouldn't invest anything at this moment... Not to mention the wallet and all the problems that it has, you have to jump through like 5 hoops to get it working, it has staking information in it when we have been told that this coin is POW only. Nothing about this project is polished, everything just seems and looks thrown together like someone just decided to put it all together on a whim.
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HONEY] Honey - NO ICO - NO PREMINE - Sweet! on: March 29, 2017, 11:10:46 AM
Secret pool? No one told me anyway....

http://yiimp.ccminer.org/site/mining

When using this pool please use
Code:
c=honey
as the password to use your hash for only HONEY. This will support the network.

That is not true and these switching pools are to blame for the instability IMO. There is not enough dedicated hashrate. And these two pools point their blake2s hashes at honey when the diff is low, pump up the diff, then it stops being profitable, they start mining others (neva, verge, taj, netko...) making the honey chain stall.

the c=honey only means you will get payed in honey, it does not mean your hashes will go towards the honey chain.

Since I learned this I stopped mining Nevacoin at yiimp and zpool, only use dedicated pools or solo if you want to support the network.

Honey needs a dedicated pool.

That is not true about yiimp anymore. What you described is completely what happens at Zpool. Epsylon3 made some changes so you direct mine the coin you want, only once in a while does your hash bleed into another coin since they are on the same port. So yiimp can help support the network.

Hey everyone, just a heads up, I posted this a couple days ago in the NETKO thread.

I got miningrigrentals.com to list the Blake2s algo. Hopefully once they see that my machine keeps getting rented back to back nicehash.com will add the algo also. Once these two top rental sites both have the algo it only strengthens the fact that we do need a dedicated mining pool for each coin because the pools now do just pump up the difficulty then stop mining it making the next block take forever. I love suprnova.cc and maybe we can talk to OCminer. I know he de-listed NEVA because of lack of interest I think he said. I honestly don't know though... I'm just a newbie.
