1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you achieved anything from gambling on: April 26, 2024, 09:49:08 PM
Hello pals , this might Sound Crazy And funny But there are some meanings To It when looked At critically ,I Was having some chats with My colleaques in the Office And I told them that I am waiting for the right Time to stake my bets online and one of them opted that he hates gambling and that he has never achieved anything from the money he makes while gambling , and that he either Drinks with The money or goes to club with his girl Friend and many more unfortunate reasons .

Still on the matter another colleaque of mine backed him up saying that since he started gambling that he has never achieved anything tangible from gambling and that he feels that something mysterious is associated with the money he makes from gambling.

Lastly , i Dont know If you have achieved anything from gambling or you have same perception like my colleaques But for me i have achieved something reasonable and tangible from gambling , So please friends let me see your opinions on this .
9 times out of 10 this is what happens when you gamble, the money you so easily got, you don't have issues with spending away and so you use it on the most trivial things like booze and bitches. That's why not a lot of people end up achieving something out of their gambling journeys, even those who won millions of dollars in a single day, cause the gravity of the amount of money they got wasn't instilled in them and the only thing that's on their mind is that they are fucking rich now, so they can do whatever they want without issues.

Eventually as we all know, behaviors like this end up causing the person more than the money that they won, newer addictions, debts, even greater family problems and stuff that they otherwise wouldn't have experienced if only they were a little bit smarter with the money they got. But then again, casinos and gambling platforms bank on this to happen, so you'd go back hoping you'll be as lucky as you were in the past, which will never happen.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the Reluctance? on: April 25, 2024, 09:05:18 PM
Sports betting is not illegal in my country. According to some key gambling and betting statistics1,2:
  • There are over 60 million active gamblers.
  • $2 billion is spent on gambling everyday
  • 53% of people in my country bet at least once per day. Our population is around 200 million people.
  • There are 14 million bet stakes and payments that are made over the internet every day
  • and others
We are actually a gambling nation and the market is highly profitable. I wonder why despite these statistics, yet some sport betting and casino sites haven't taken advantage of it. As I conducted my research, I noticed that some casinos don't offer or no longer offers their services to people in my country. There are other countries with similar situation too. And it begs the question: why the reluctance? Such hesitation seems out of place in a country where gambling is legal.

Perhaps you're seeing this as a business opportunity and not as a problem that perhaps your government is actively working to thwart and solve. Remember that gambling as a business, even if government-sanctioned only benefits one party, and most often than not they would make sure to keep that disparity in the name of profit.

The fact alone that more than half of your country's population's gambling's a little alarming to me. You're literally talking about a good amount of people gambling their whole paychecks away and with little to no gains from it too. Like it would've made sense if the games they play the most are on the side of those that are easier to win but as it stands I'm looking at people that are just too addicted to quit.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: April 25, 2024, 08:29:56 PM
The misconception begins when you think of gambling as nothing but a way for you to earn quick cash.

It's been said countless times in this forum how earning while you're gambling's just short of impossible, with the only ones who are able to earn out of this ordeal finding themselves losing all the shit they gained in a few years' time. So with that being said, what else is there to do but enjoy gambling and take it for what it really is, a game?

Most people who say that they gamble for entertainment do not necessarily mean that they enjoy losing their money, matter of fact a lot of them think the same way as people who gamble for profit. But the key difference is how they approach losses. Where gamblers for profit fumble and lose their shit when things don't go their way, gamblers for entertainment shrugs it off and is packed with discipline and self-control, allowing them to make more informed decisions that wouldn't cost them their whole bankroll.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Management on: April 25, 2024, 07:25:33 PM
I often run out of funds due to gambling that is too blind in terms of placing $$ on every bet I make and ends up losing. I do multi-bets and single-bets, every time I win, sometimes I forget myself and use all my $$ on the next bet. This sometimes gives me big wins, but if I'm unlucky I can lose all my funds and this has happened many times.

I started to realize and change my habits. Now I use $$ from the profits from the previous bet to place the next bet and save my initial capital.

What do you think, is this good and can help me overcome losses that will occur so that $$ remains safe and can be used in future betting? Are there other unique ways that you can use to grow your money in gambling? feel free to comment. Thanks
Not really too big a deal if you keep losing your funds when you gamble, the system is made to always drain you of your money anyway, to most of us it's just a matter of when, and not how. However, if you want to at least make sure that your money's worthwhile, meaning that it doesn't get caught up in the pockets of the casino before you even got a whiff of the cash, then you might wanna learn how to manage your gambling funds, with the easiest being learning how to min-max your losses via loss ratio-ing your stuff. Most of us here who have been able to crack the code to preserving our funds for a good amount of time set parameters for losing and winning that they follow religiously. You might wanna do that. And yeah, hold off on the all-ins.

7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: March 14, 2024, 10:44:04 PM
He just beat Ryan Bourland recently who looks like not willing to fight and Jake is up again for another.
They should call this a fight but an exhibition but believe it or not is happening. You think Mike is done after Roy Jones but Jake wants to pull him again for he just needs recognition from the boxing community.

I would be surprised if Mike beats Jake. He is 60.  Would you bet if its on Stake?

Quote
Jake Paul is set to fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a boxing match that will be livestreamed on Netflix.

The bout is scheduled to take place on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas and will be available to all Netflix subscribers. Additional information, including the co-main event and undercards, will be announced at a later date. It is being produced in a partnership between Netflix and Paul’s and Nakisa Bidarian’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).

This will not be the first time Paul and Tyson have appeared on a boxing card together. Paul fought in the co-main event of the pay-per-view that saw Tyson fight an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, which was Tyson’s first boxing match since 2006. Paul defeated former NBA player Nate Robinson via knockout in the second round in what was Paul’s second professional boxing match.

What in the flying fuck man. Why is it that Jake gets off from fighting boxers who are either already decades past their prime and retired, or clowns who can't show for themselves more than they could throw a solid punch. This is pretty much like that one spongebob meme where they keep busting that old man cause they thought he's the criminal. Don't get it twisted, Tyson is still pretty much a fucking animal, but he's literally in his 60s now, he's not gonna be able to put in the show that we're looking to see from a fighter of his caliber, and to top it all off he's fighting the clown of the boxing industry, there's literally no way we're going to see a good fight out of this in my opinion.

I mean props to whoever Tyson talked to for actually persuading the guy to get into fighting once again, but c'mon man, let the man rest, he's already done his time in the ring, have some respect to the GOAT at the very least.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When is best for a player to draw the line? on: March 14, 2024, 09:38:52 PM
Just for discussions and ways to educate or share knowledge with ourselves when and how to draw the line when gambling,  because for some reasons, some gamblers have arrived at unstable realities because of the lack of stoppage time while gambling so let's talk.
When do you stop?
Some stop gambling immediately the record a big lose, while others continues when they lose with hope of recovering.
Some other gamblers stop playing when the win they first few games, while other continue to chase the loses, and technically ww can tell in accuracy when this things happens, but when is the best time to stop gambling and take a break?

1-when you lose?
2- when you win?
When you're already either contemplating quitting the session, or when you find yourself unable to control yourself anymore despite splurging a lot of money on bets you have made during the game. These two specific instances does not matter whether you win or you lose, but are highly dependent on your subconscious asking for a little break which you may often dismiss because you're very busy tying to chase after that win you will never get back. Oftentimes our brain will tell us that it has had enough and when it does tell us it already had its fill, we must answer to it as furthering against your limits is going to cause you even more problem in the future.

The reason why gamblers become addicted to gambling is because they do not respect the limits they have imposed upon themselves, as well as the biological/instinctive limits that the brain has. The catharsis of knowing you could actually disobey yourself is what primarily causes you to go for more, which is why you should always be mindful of your self when you play.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving don't make wealth on: March 14, 2024, 09:19:40 PM
Sincerely the concept of savings has made some persons poor, but many won't realize the fact that saving don't make the difference but investing does.
Am not saying saving isn't good, but my point is saving doesn't make one wealthy, the worst advice we recieve is  'save for tomorrow' but only few lay emphasis on the need to 'invest for tomorrow'.
So I would greatly say we invest some of our profits from bitcoin in to other stuff, than just holding it or using it for pleasure. The rare truth is how we believe bitcoin can change the game, so other systems are developing so we shouldn't be blindfolded.
Invest because savings doesn't increase or builds, investing is what gives you the life you want.
   Let discuss this guys..
No matter how many bitcoin you hold you can still misuse the money, so we should understand the concept of Richness and Wealth.

That's because you guys are ill-informed. Don't know where you got the idea that saving would lead you to riches but it doesn't work that way, nor was it portrayed to work that way in the first place. What you mistake savings for is investment, where you put your money into work instead of slaving for it on your daily 9-5. With investment, you get the guaranteed benefit of earning more than what your salary grade provides, with all the liberties the market could provide you, which in turn allow some of the people who ventured into investments to earn millions and find riches.

On the other hand, savings, as the name implies, is meant to "save" your money for the sake of something else. Instead of splurging it all into booze and bitches you keep a portion of your money for yourself as emergency funds, will the emergency funds make you rich? No! What it will do to you is make sure you don't die of poverty when you do get sick.

I hope this analogy shed a light on this massive misconception against savings. You're not supposed to get rich off of saving your money, if that's the case then we'd have a lot of scrooge mcducks in here already, you're only saving because you have to prepare for a massive, often unexpected expenditure in the future. Nothing more, nothing less.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: your perception about gambling on: March 01, 2024, 11:43:06 PM
I decided to come up with this topic because of an experience i had yesterday and i decided to bring it here for clarity sake and to see some people's view about it.

There is this notion the society placed on those who gamble or who play all sorts of games ,be it casino,bet9ja,R/S lotto, what, snooker and many others. They often see them as those who don't have what to ,or caliber of individuals who are jobless, a se of people who are not well trained by their parents and many more other names they call them.

i sincerely came up with this topic to find out why they have such views on individuals who voluntarily went to the betting shop to gamble either to win and make a difference or to lose and remain the same way.  This idea actually started when i saw a pastor playing bet9ja after a brief evangelism and one elderly woman made a side comment ( That even man of GOD also play gamble) .

however, my question here now is : is gambling restricted to some certain kind of individuals or class?  or is there any stratification when it comes to playing gambling ?please your opinions here here will actually quench my curiosity.
You really can't change how people think about you, that's one thing. So instead of going out there telling everyone that I'm a gambling man and risk making them think that I'm the dirtiest, nastiest, mustiest clown in the Barangay I just go for the more lowkey side of things and let people I dearly care about instead. Worked so well for me so far and I think that's what you should really go for, instead of crying about the people seeing you as an irresponsible maggot of the society when you tell them that you're gambling.

So yeah, since you can't change people's minds anyway, just do your own thing and be very responsible with your own gambling shenanigans, you can't change how other people think about you but you can definitely reinforce good habits and make it so that you're a better gambler than what you might think you are, and I think that's more important than seeking approval or gratification from other people.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports that you don’t watch but you keep placing bets on: March 01, 2024, 11:14:14 PM
Do you have a sports that you keep betting on even though you don’t watch this sports live or you don’t know the full specifications of this game?

In my case, I keep betting on tennis whenever I have spare money on my casino balance from my VIP rewards(Rakeback) after my long game session on live games. I’m not really a fan of sports betting in general but I do place bet randomly on tennis especially the Asian Handicap on live match. I’m always betting on the underdog that already has 1 set advantage to the favorite players. I do this bet just for fun no string attached.

I believe this is the literal definition of “gamble what you can afford to lose”.  Grin

Valorant and League of Legends.

I stopped playing and watching the pro-scene a few years back, especially for league, as I found the games boring and systemic, once again especially for league. Two teams pit it out in the arena trying to win the game, one team makes a blunder, the other capitalizes on it and takes the win, it's so systemic and it killed the hype for me. However, I still gamble in some matches for these games especially if I'm acquainted with the teams that are at play, as I believe that allows me to maximize my win cons and actually earn something in the process. With these games that are updating on a whole monthly basis just missing out on a season or two's gonna make you feel like you're playing/watching a different game, which is also partly the reason why I don't watch the games anymore even when I place bets on them cause I couldn't for the life of me figure out the inner workings of every match anymore.
12  Other / Meta / Re: There should be a keyword report and keyword ban option to reduce spam on: March 01, 2024, 10:44:39 PM
By the time of writing this, there are about 9 topics created by brand new or newbie accounts in Altcoin Discussion promoting a project called "Magic Square".
I'm pretty sure there will be more coming in shortly because they are on a mission to promote this project at any cost, it's serial shilling as we all know it.

The point is, how many topics/threads is one going to report by opening them one by one? Can't there be a way to report keywords to mods or admins that would serve as a suggestion for them to ban a certain keyword to avoid temporary spam such as the one I have mentioned above?

Update: Most of the topics and posts are deleted and users are banned thanks to users who have reported them, especially LoyceV for adding the keyword under the spam category in his website that had helped me find and report a bunch of them.
However, it could still be easier to do this if mods could implement a keyword ban on titles or something similar that could reduce the spam and the need for manually reporting every single thread/topic.
I see this working and not working in favor of the forum.

On one hand we definitely could get rid of the people who spam and push SEO strategies like that in here, cause it's not gonna work unless we interact with them, deeming these tactics useless and forcing these fucking clowns to look for other ways to actually gather their new audiences, perhaps even better and more natural ways if I do say so myself. On the other hand however, people easily overlooking these exploitative parts of the spectrum in favor of their peace of mind may put the whole forum in Jeopardy for the newbie audiences. Cause more people not seeing these kinds of posts would mean less reports about them coming into the Mods' radars, when that happens these posts can stay for longer and might victimize those that aren't really savvy with how the forum works or how the crypto industry operates.

13  Other / Meta / Re: Why suddenly Cloudflare Human Verification is Coming Up? on: February 29, 2024, 10:14:57 PM
Am I the only one facing this issue everytime I am trying to access the forum? Or everyone here is seeing the same screen. I am not trying to login as I have opted for Always stay logged in option. So, I am trying to only access the forum and everytime I do it I have to go through this shit. Is it because of DDos attack or @theymos is trying to control the bots that are spamming the forum. I would love to here your problem as for me it is making me irritate with constant verification screen. Infeel as if I need to prove  myself that I am human with this sudden change.
Pretty sure that's just your ISP having some full-on discrepancies with the forum provider or Cloudflare itself. But sometimes it could just be the fact that it takes time for some pages in this forum to load, especially those topics with large reply counts as is the case for me. I never get the Cloudflare Human Verification shit (and when I do I go past that cause my device automatically tags me as human even before I open the captcha for some reason) and it only happens when I open threads with large reply counts.

While I don't really have a full-on solution for you, you might wanna check your cache and cookies and clear them every now and again, also make sure that you don't search up weird stuff on the internet as it's gonna make it even harder for you to really get approved for some of these captions (trust me on this one) and yeah, deal with it for the meantime until the devs of this forum figures out a way out of it.

15  Economy / Economics / Re: China's economy is very sick. What to prepare for? on: February 24, 2024, 11:32:57 PM
It's no secret that after the Kovid pandemic, China's economy has been hit pretty hard. Further problems were a continuation of the economic confrontation with the U.S., which was not a smart move on China's part, as overestimating its strength is the biggest mistake.
Then there was (and now the problem continues) Evergrande and in general the real estate market and related sectors of the economy....

And the day before yesterday the news came out: China is considering the option of withdrawing 2 trillion yuan ($278 billion) from offshore accounts of state-owned companies to save the record falling stock market. Bloomberg writes about it.
According to people familiar with the matter, Chinese authorities are considering a package of measures to stabilize the falling stock market after previous attempts to restore investor confidence failed and prompted Prime Minister Li Keqiang to call for "forceful" steps.

On the one hand, it seems to be the world's second economy, "the world's factory", nominally "the second pole of the bipolar world", on the other hand, it is no longer possible to hide the problems and it is necessary to take such measures.  The question is: since the situation with the Chinese economy is no longer manageable, and we have to take tough and prompt actions to save the economy - how do you think this will affect the global economy, the crypto market, and what to prepare for?
I don't think we should really prepare for anything other than an exodus of wealthy Chinese Citizens moving to different parts of the western world to save the worth of their assets from depreciating. Why? Because China's economy's become so excluded that when things like this happens the only ones that are really at a loss is them and nothing else. Retailers could pretty much just look for someplace else when choosing another country that would mass produce their products, builders would look in the Middle East particularly in Saudi Arabia as well as the UAE for more opportunities as China's real estate market collapses under its own weight. We shouldn't really be worried about much at this point in my opinion. I mean, they had it coming in the first place, and I don't really see anything to be prepared for.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we even need bitcoin mixers? on: February 24, 2024, 11:05:45 PM
There are alternatives for people who prefer to keep their privacy intact. The use of Bitcoin mixers is not the only way for a user to stay private. Having said this I think we really don't need Bitcoin mixers. We need ways to provide us privacy but Bitcoin mixers don't have the monopoly of this kind of service. The example given in the OP also provides privacy. CoinJoin also provides privacy in a manner that is legally acceptable. During these times when mixers are perceived negatively, there remains other ways to achieve what one can achieve with mixers.
Between mixers and airgapping a perfectly usable device to act as you wallet, mixing your cryptocurrencies is definitely going to be the more appealing option.

You have to consider the fact that the reason why mixing is so prevalent even after getting some leering eyes from the international global scene, is because it's the most convenient way out there to secure your cryptocurrencies, and to protect your identity. Sure, converting your bitcoins/crypto to monero's an equally appealing ordeal but the concept is not explored to its fullest capacity just yet, forcing people into instead following what the norm is, which is mixing. Airgapping and other forms of cryptocurrency anonymity tactics are cumbersome as well in the face of completely obscuring your footsteps with the single press of a button. Which is why at the end of the day, mixing will remain existent even though we don't technically need them anymore.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please stop blaming "the government" for lack of Bitcoin mass payment adoption on: February 24, 2024, 10:47:25 PM
The Wikipedia article op is referring to can be helpful, but it's important to note that it can be outdated or misinterpret certain things, as well as assume it's legal somewhere when it's just not illegal.
In any case, I agree that the lack of adoption is not on the governments. If we're talking about democracies, laws change actively when there's a strong public demand for something. The demand for Bitcoin as a form of payment is simply not high enough to prompt major changes and adoption. It can change over time, but let's also not forget that Bitcoin blockchain doesn't scale well (I'm talking about the limit of processed transactions per minute and transaction fees when the network gets congested). The op is correct to point at the importance of scalability.
Of course, people here can say that there are alternative, off-chain solutions to address that problem, but then we lose some of that decentralization and financial freedom that came with Bitcoin.
I couldn't agree more, my insight lies along the same spectrum as you guys do, although mine particularly leans more towards the lack of action on the government's part. Because let's be real here. Even if you argue that the government of this certain country's not allowing massive crypto adoption because of the fear of hackers becoming prevalent, the fact remains that it is not bitcoin that is driving these hackers to hack, it's the money to be made in the business and they could very well use any other type of payment channel that doesn't involve cryptocurrency and the results would've remained the same. More robust crime-fighting features and less about putting the blame to crypto is what I'm really at.

This isn't to say that crypto is to be blamed for some boo-boos in the past, for instance. Scammers and Ponzi schemers using crypto as their main driver to mobilize their nefarious plans. While the mechanism is pretty much similar to hackers the fault in this case lies upon crypto, considering the fact that it too, lacks features that would disable users from using it as such.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: The Same way like money is created you can use this trick to become wealthy on: February 24, 2024, 10:22:24 PM
Your brain is much smarter than that. If you knew that the promise would not be fulfilled, you would not work hard to fulfill it. We promised ourselves a lot when we were young, such as that I would be first in my class, or that I would get a perfect score on the exam, or that I would stay up late preparing for the test, but we did not fulfill those promises.

When you promise yourself that you will earn a million dollars and you are unable to pay your monthly expenses, this will not help you in any way. Make a realistic plan for dealing with money. Think before you spend any dollar you earn and spend part of your income on entertainment.
This falls more on the "Law of Attraction" pseudo-science mumbo jumbo that have been the buzz for a whole while now. People suddenly get this idea that their thoughts are more powerful than they let on and are pretty much convinced that they can control their destinies and in this case wealth by introducing meditative activities and slogans to trick their mind into working for them. Personally I don't believe in this bullshit but if that's what gets you going in the morning then by all means, I support you.

The problem starts when people begin to think this is all that they would need to do in order to succeed. They'd stop working, they'd think everything's gonna fall into place anyway someday and all they had to do was just follow some Youtube Guru's advice or whatever, which is very toxic and mind-numbing to say the least.
19  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: February 23, 2024, 11:12:32 PM
This is a little on the nose and sometimes even a little unnecessary. The thing is that people know that researches are a good thing and are a must every time they venture out into uncharted territories that teaching or telling them that they should do so feels a little too redundant at this point. Pretty sure that those who are willing to really go the extra mile and be safe while they venture out in either investing or gambling are already doing it the first time they got told to research, and for the rest of the population who didn't, they either didn't need to or want to, either way telling them to do so is a major waste of effort and time.

Instead, tell people about more worthwhile must-know topics like perhaps how to manage their bankroll, how to min-max their wins and losses to favor them in the long run, instead of just telling them to research shit without even guiding them what to research about.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why mega threads always be kept open on: February 23, 2024, 10:03:10 PM
Mega threads kept open for long time, in this gambling discussion and the main gambling section I do see a thread that from the first to ten pages all the discussion answers has been given but that thread continues moving whereas all the questions been asked in the thread majority has answered it, why mega thread in gambling section, when you calm down and read some of the trading style or method you can see that some points made us is not longer in line with the aim of the thread.

Some of our discussions and points in mega thread is pointless, does it not good to have a limitations of pages in a thread and immediately the thread get to its limit page it can be lock, so that everyone have it in mind, instead of spamming and be writing in some of the thread that is up to twenty to thirty [20-30] pages, [Observation] Their is some certain things that is not suppose to discuss in thread because people have already said those points,  but base on the thread is still on and they continue to spam, some persons discussed in one thread more than five times both knowingly and unknowingly, so it's good for we to abolish some mega threads depends on the subject.
Good question, but the thing is that it's better to have these mega-threads around and not need them than actually not have a well-established thread when we need one. Besides, the mega-threads made by most of the folks here especially for dedicated sports fans are doing their job of making sure there's no clutter of posts from other enthusiasts who wanted to talk about their sports/topic. So yeah, mega-threads will remain open until we no longer find a need for them to be.

Plus we also have to consider the fact that most of these mega-threads are self-moderated, meaning the OP got full-on liberty to whatever they wanted to do with the thread, for most of them they'd rather keep it up and moderate the thread on their own than stop the flow of conversation for the sake of "giving space to even more worthwhile topics"
