1001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TRUMP] TrumpCoin SuperPAC on: October 17, 2016, 02:25:41 AM
Novelty coin that might gain some traction as the election gets closer,
but I don't think its a good long-term investment, at all.

Unless Trump actually provided some support/ investment in the coin,
it's just using his name in an attempt to get investors.
1002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] -NEW BURST OP- MINE ANY FREE SPACE-(HDD MINING)- ATs, AE, P2P MARKET+MORE! on: October 17, 2016, 01:38:54 AM
When it will reach either 200 or 500 by your prediction?
I'm just new to Burst. Is it a good idea to buy the coin instead of mining them?

I have no idea. It might never reach 200 or 500 satoshi.
It still needs to catch on, and there are so many competing alt-coins. What gets popular is so random sometimes.
But Burst is definitely much further along than 99% of the garbage clone coins you see on the exchanges.

The team has done a great job creating the website/ wallet, and actually provides support to users on the forums.
I don't see any other coin with such a low price doing this much work.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [ETC] Ethereum Classic Speculation on: October 17, 2016, 01:20:32 AM
I bought a few coins randomly before I went to dinner today,
come back and see 17% increase in price.  Tongue

I feel like both ETC/ ETH could go to the moon, or crash and burn over the next few weeks.
Maybe someone more familiar with the changes in the upcoming fork can make a prediction...
1004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 16, 2016, 07:46:30 PM
Not talking about pumping. Talking about real news. Take a look at an average crypto news portal. There s ether news 5x a week and factom news once every six months. However, I think factom s got much more added value. How and why?

Hopefully they are busy working on improving things and getting partnerships with real companies, rather than worrying about what is reported on some bullshit crypto news websites.
I think this project has long term potential. If it takes off Factom could be huge.
One of these companies stands to become a major player in the tech world.
1005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: zcash mining instalation error, CPU you selected does not support x86-64 .... on: October 16, 2016, 05:14:54 PM
Are you running a processor that supports 64bit programs?
See if you can find out the processor chip on that PC because I'm fairly certain this is a message you get when the CPU can not run 64bit code.
1006  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you like to receive your salary in BTC? on: October 16, 2016, 04:18:37 PM
Either you have absolutely zero expenses or you are not thinking about the transaction fees if you would take a salary in Bitcoin.
How would you buy food, pay your rent/ mortgage, buy gas for your car?
The amount of money you would lose in transaction fees loading a Bitcoin debit card or whatever method you need to pay for things would end up with a huge net loss.
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETC to $100, when? on: October 16, 2016, 04:14:03 PM
What are predictions for ETH/ ETC after the upcoming ETH fork?
It will bring attention to both coins obviously,
but is this going to lead to people buying or dumping coins?
1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ESX servers? on: October 16, 2016, 02:31:22 PM
If you have a large amount of hard drive storage space you could mine one of the Proof of Capacity coins like Burst.
Otherwise you will still need some sort of GPU.
You can mine a small amount of altcoin on CPU but I'm not sure how that is going to affect your VM operations, and it may not be worth it to stress the processors of your server for a couple pennies a day.
1009  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I quit trading on: October 16, 2016, 02:00:27 PM
Trading is a skill that takes time and practice.
If you enjoy it and are able to learn something or make some profit, it can be worth your time.
But if you aren't having fun, or making a living, there are plenty of other things you can do with your time.
You can earn just as much from other jobs or hobbies.
1010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik Buterin confirms another ETH hard fork on: October 16, 2016, 01:55:57 PM
You can't really compare Bitcoin to any other coin. Things have changed so much over the last couple years.

Most people aren't creating coins because they want to advance the technology or give people an alternative to fiat currencies.
It's a business model. Developers are becoming millionaires. Every decision being made is to raise capital and increase profits.
If you think anyone is doing any of this for any reason other than to make money you're fooling yourself.

Interesting project!
I love anything to do with music and making payment easier for songs, streams, mixtapes etc.

I bought a few coins at Yobit just before the price almost doubled.
(36 satoshi to 60)

1012  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think guys the hack bitcoin from bitfinex still not sold? on: October 16, 2016, 01:13:54 PM
You cannot simply spend $1 Million on some online store that accepts bitcoins. Also the authorities will ask for your information from the store you purchased an item from.

Exactly.
But there has to be a way to get some of the Bitcoins spent or transferred to another form of currency.
Hackers wouldn't be working so hard to attack exchanges/ online wallets/ gambling sites if they didn't have a way to spend the money.
Some do it for the LOLZ but most are in it for the profit$.
1013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Pump Watch on: October 16, 2016, 12:59:20 PM
Lets see if hes right about Potcoin going back up to the 2000 to 4000 Satoshi range.
I'll definitely check this website out. I've been doing some reading about Elliott waves and trading in general since I'm trying to invest a little in Alt-coins and the stock market etc.

Unfortunately I sold all my Potcoin at 1420 (LOL) but since I bought in around the 500 Satoshi mark I made a bit of profit.  Wink
(100% lucky guess.)
1014  Economy / Economics / Re: How to make 17 BTC out of 7 BTC ? on: October 16, 2016, 12:46:43 PM
Any safe investment will not generate you profits in a "short period of time".
To make the money quickly you need to take risks.

If you can afford to lose some of your investment you could do some alt-coin trading.
There are some coins that are clearly under-valued at the moment.
But alt-coin trading is unpredictable.
Shitcoin clones get pumped to the moon while solid coins with active developers sit un-used.

Interesting article from earlier this year.

Really cool website where you can watch people buy Bitcoin from exchanges.
Obviously most of the coins are going to China right now...

1016  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are Venezuelan not switching to Bitcoin? on: October 16, 2016, 12:36:36 PM
Yes you are also talking about people who may not have an internet connection, or a mobile phone, let alone a smartphone that could run a Bitcoin app.

Also, as pointed out, most of these people would be using Bitcoin to pay for everyday goods like food/ clothes at a local shop.
We have a long way to go before local businesses are going to accept Bitcoin. The wait for confirmation time is simply not acceptable for an in-store transaction.

Until there are nearly instant confirmation times, we need more ways to load Bitcoins onto a debit card or something similar, where there is nearly instant payment.
People complain about newer credit card security features that take between 30 seconds and a minute to confirm payment.
No one will be willing to wait 30 to 45 minutes for a Bitcoin transaction to be confirmed.
1017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 1 btc which Alt coin should I buy? on: October 16, 2016, 12:31:03 PM
I will tell you in a couple weeks but I need more time to buy it while the price is still undervalued.  Grin

Also I think your best bet is to invest in an established coin that may have lost some value lately, like Monero/ ETH/ ETC,
and a new coin that you hope to get 5x or 10x return when it becomes established.
(That is my investing strategy, at least.)
1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] -NEW BURST OP- MINE ANY FREE SPACE-(HDD MINING)- ATs, AE, P2P MARKET+MORE! on: October 16, 2016, 12:23:48 PM
Many Huge investors are looking to get BURST

So I hope the price will pass over 500 sats soon

Yes I just hope I have another couple weeks or a month to get some more money to invest before the jump!  Grin
I would not be surprised to see 200 to 500 satoshi any time soon.

Burst could be a great long term investment, also.
We need to start looking at other ways to mine, and a low-power alternative makes a lot of sense.
Huge ASIC mining operations that require a ton of power, generate heat and noise are okay if you are a huge company who owns an industrial complex,
but we need to think of ways to de-centralize our currencies and make it so anyone can mine the coins.
Using free hard drive space is a really great approach.
1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] -NEW BURST OP- MINE ANY FREE SPACE-(HDD MINING)- ATs, AE, P2P MARKET+MORE! on: October 16, 2016, 12:19:00 PM
Found a 250GB hard drive while cleaning and added it to my Burst farm.
I'm looking at buying a few 3 to 5 TB hard drives and setting them up for mining.

Burst seems VERY under-valued right now.
The amount of work that has gone into this coin so far is amazing.
The GUI wallet alone makes it stand out above so many other projects.
It's funny to see all the shitcoins trading higher that have nowhere near the level of development Burst has.
Hopefully people start getting behind Burst because its an amazing product so far.

1020  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think guys the hack bitcoin from bitfinex still not sold? on: October 16, 2016, 12:00:52 PM
Its actually a very interesting topic.
You have Millions of dollars in Bitcoin, but they are stolen.
How do you get the money?

When asked about the $1 Million in Bitcoin he hacked from PrimeDice the hacker said-

TheBitcoinStrip.com: So how do you cash out $1 million (more now) of "stolen" Bitcoins?

HufflePuff: Simple. You don't.

https://thebitcoinstrip.com/blog/interview-with-a-bitcoin-hacker.html

Certainly there is some way to spend these coins, though.
Not every single store, website, exchange is going to blacklist these coins, so there must be some way to convert them to cash/ goods.
Most money laundering operations charge 20-50% to convert your cash. Are there any similar methods for digital currencies?
