Here is a very interesting article about Donald Trumps connections to the "MOB" it will be interesting to see how he responds.

http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/05/donald-trump-2016-mob-organized-crime-213910?paginate=false

The article gives a good argument for a closer look to be made into Trumps dealings. However as an investigative journalist the author fails to bring any proof that TRUMP has broken any laws. It can also be argued that it would have been impossible not to have become successful in property development without having to have done business with MOB organisations, as the author points out they dominated the construction industry and its unions.

Paradoxically this whole election is a struggle between the mob against the Establishment who are seen by many as corrupt. Perhaps our best shot at real change is to have someone with Trumps credentials to take them on?

To be honest, I figured very early on in my research of who Trump even was that if he did not have some exposure to and experience with 'the mob' it would be a miracle.  This, of course, because of his vocation.  I decided that if Trump used the mob to intimidate people with bodily harm as part of his 'deals toolkit', I would not support him (and continue to hold this view.)  If he simply over-payed for some concrete, and especially if it helped deal with union issues, I'm actually pretty OK with that all things considered.

Speaking of 'the mob', in some circles I read that 'they' quit litterally moved right into banking as an evolutionary path, and at the highest levels of the biggest banks.  This compared to the rhetorical throw-away words like 'banksters.'  I actually don't rule this out especially after observing the likes of Paulson in relation to the 2008 financial goings-on.  I mention it because in this case Hillary and the massive money she gets from 'the banksters' for flapping her gums in front of them for a bit comes into focus.

They may not even have proofs of transcripts of her paid appearances...

Vienna (AFP) - Austrians voted Sunday in a key presidential runoff which could usher in the European Union's first extreme right-wing leader amid the continent's worst post-war migrant crisis.

A huge influx of asylum-seekers, growing unemployment and frozen reforms have left Austria deeply polarised and driven angry voters away from the centrist ruling coalition toward fringe groups.

For the first time since 1945, the president will not come from one of two main parties, prompting national media to warn of a political "tsunami".

Begrudging WaPo poll: Trump 46%, Clinton 44%

It's not the headline, and it takes 219 words to get there, but a new Washington Post poll on the presidential race reveals that Republican Donald Trump leads Democrat Hillary Clinton among registered voters 46 percent to 44 percent.

Inside the Post's story about the poll is this paragraph:

"At this point, the two candidates are in a statistical dead heat among registered voters, with Trump favored by 46 percent and Clinton favored by 44 percent. That represents an 11-point shift toward the presumptive Republican nominee since March. Among all adults, Clinton holds a six-point lead (48 percent to 42 percent), down from 18 points in March."

It is the first time Trump has vaulted over Clinton in the poll and shows the advancement of the New York businessman over the past six months.

But instead of focusing on Trump's surge, the Post highlighted the feeling among the unfavorable view voters have of both candidates, and that Clinton is more qualified.

Dem Chaos: Hillary Declares Herself Nominee; Refuses Fox Debate With Bernie, DNC Wants To Silence Bernie Supporters…

It appears the strategy by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the DNC for the home stretch of the Democratic primary season is going to be to stay as silent as possible when it comes to Senator Bernie Sanders. Clinton now refuses to honor her agreement for one more debate, which would have been in California, and the DNC now wants to change the rules of the convention to silence any protesters altogether. With Clinton proclaiming herself the presumptive nominee, the Democratic Party seems to be intent on the political version of “running out the clock.”

Major media outlets are misleading voters by claiming that Clinton will lock up the nomination by June 7, claiming she is only 90 delegates away from the nomination. They insist on counting superdelegates in the tally, as many superdelegates said early in the election cycle that they would support Hillary Clinton — even before Sanders declared his candidacy — but their commitments and their votes are not set or cast until the convention in July. In fact, many of the superdelegates who committed early to Clinton in 2008 did, in fact, switch to Barack Obama by the time the convention rolled around. So counting superdelegates at this point in the race is misleading, at best. Many would argue that those media outlets are simply painting a favorable picture for Clinton, with many of the billionaire owners of those media outlets being pledged supporters and big money donors to her campaign.

Despite Clinton and major media outlets proclaiming her the presumptive nominee and saying that Bernie Sanders has no chance of winning, Clinton and the DNC are circling the wagons, starting with doubling down on the serious breach of convention protocols in Nevada, passing motions at will without legitimate votes, and excluding 64 Sanders delegates for “administrative” reasons. The DNC and Clinton supporters like Senator Barbara Boxer are now blaming Sanders for the angry response of his supporters after the Nevada convention denied many of his delegates the ability to participate. Boxer, in particular, taunted Bertie Sanders’ supporters and made them angry, prompting them to boo her, but now Boxer is gaslighting them and placing the blame for the fiasco on those that she taunted and disrespected with her condescending remarks, as well as Sanders for not keeping his supporters “in line” despite widespread complaints of election rigging and voter disenfranchisement.[…]

For her part, Clinton is refusing to debate Bernie Sanders in California, according to Washington Times, despite their agreement for one more debate before the primary season is over. Sanders has had plenty to say about the DNC’s repeated attempts to shut out his campaign and supporters, even as they insist those same Sanders’ supporters they are angering and alienating must back Clinton in the general election. He also addressed Clinton’s premature, self-declared win to CNN.

200 Stranded Marines Needed A Plane Ride Home, Here's How Donald Trump Responded

When Corporal Ryan Stickney and 200 of his fellow Marines prepared to return to their families after Operation Desert Storm in 1991, a logistics error forced them to turn to a surprising source for a ride home: Donald J. Trump.

Today, Stickney would like to say "thank you."

Stickney, was a squad leader in a TOW company of a Marine reserve unit based in Miami, FL and spent approximately six months in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War between 1990 and 1991.

Upon his unit’s return to the United States, the former Marine says the group spent several weeks decompressing at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina before heading back to Miami.

Stickney recalls being told that a mistake had been made within the logistics unit and that an aircraft wasn’t available to take the Marines home on their scheduled departure date.

This—according to Stickney—is where Donald Trump comes in.

"The way the story was told to us was that Mr. Trump found out about it and sent the airline down to take care of us. And that’s all we knew….I remember asking 'Who is Donald Trump?' I truly didn't know anything about him," the former Marine said.

Corporal Stickney snapped a photo to remember the day by:

The Trump campaign has confirmed to Hannity.com that Mr. Trump did indeed send his plane to make two trips from North Carolina to Miami, Florida to transport over 200 Gulf War Marines back home. No further details were provided.

The Marine says he and his family are—to this day—grateful for Trump’s kind gesture. "It may not seem like much to most people, but it was very important to a bunch of jar heads and more importantly their families waiting for them on the hot tarmac."

Stickney says that his father—a Korean War veteran and former Eastern Airlines captain—claimed to have never seen a 727 turn around and refuel so quickly. His father was so appreciative of Mr. Trump's help; he said he would fly for Trump for free to thank him for what he did.

Stickney says that in his 28 years of public service, he has yet to see this kind of support for the troops from any of the other candidates running for president: "I have not seen a Clinton or Sanders plane, or anything else for that matter, sent to support the troops."

Reich to fellow Sanders supporters: 'Work like hell' for Clinton if she wins nomination

Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich is urging fellow Bernie Sanders supporters to “work like hell” for Hillary Clinton in the event she wins the Democratic presidential nomination.

Reich, who served under former President Bill Clinton and is now a professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley, advised Sanders supporters what they should do at this point in the White House race in a three-point plan on his Facebook page: “1. Continue to work like hell for Bernie,” “2. Don’t demonize or denigrate Hillary Clinton,” and “3. Never, ever give up fighting against the increasing concentration of wealth and power at the top.”

Reich appeared hopeful in his post that the June 7 California primary would boost his candidate toward the nomination, as is the feeling among many Sanders supporters.

But it was Reich’s call to unite behind Clinton if Sanders falls short of his goal that raised eyebrows. He wrote:

“Don’t demonize or denigrate Hillary Clinton. If she wins the Democratic nomination, I urge you to work like hell for her. She’ll be the only person standing between Donald Trump and the presidency of the United States. Besides, as I’ve said before, she’ll be an excellent president for the system we now have, even though Bernie would be the best president for the system we need.”

Those in the #BernieOrBust category didn’t take to the advice kindly. Among the nearly 9,000 comments on the Facebook post were “F*** Hillary,” “Still can’t get behind HRC,” “Sorry. Not happening,” “anybody but Hillary,” “I don’t believe she has all the voters she claims,” “When you ask us to support Clinton, you ask us too much,” “I agree with you on this point but it is a bitter pill,” “With all due respect, I can neither work nor vote for Hillary,” “Bernie, only Bernie,” “I’d sooner drink acid than vote for Hillary,” and “Hillary will not be able to win over a majority of Bernie Sanders supporters including myself.”

Other responses included:

“I think if Clinton supporters force her nomination they deserve a Trump Presidency!”

“I refuse to work like hell for a establishment that won’t work like hell for me. #BernieOrBust regardless of how much I respect you Mr. Reich.”

“I think Hillary Clinton and the DNC have done a fine job of demonizing themselves. Their record is their record. There’s no hiding from that.”

“I will never vote for Hillary. I will show up, write in Bernie, and Vote for progressives down the line to ensure we get a Senate and Congress that represents us at the least.”

“What Hillary Clinton should do is back Bernie Sanders who is the best candidate to serve WE the people and has the BEST chance of defeating Trump in the general election.”

Artist 'films herself being raped' to challenge how society views assault

An Australian artist has filmed herself having un-simulated sex with a stranger in a so-called ‘rape representation’ to encourage debate on the patriarchal nature of sexual violence.

Sophia Hewson – who arranged and choreographed the three-minute piece called Untitled (“are you ok bob?”) – invited the man to her home in New York to record the video.

Throughout the scene the focus is on Miss Hewson’s face as she looks towards the camera, and only the arms of ‘Bob’ - the man’s pseudonym - can be seen.

“The raped woman is nearly always depicted with her face downcast and her eyes averted," she explained in a statement on her website.

“The most confronting aspect of Untitled ("are you ok bob?"), isn't watching as a woman is struck or penetrated, it's seeing her look back out at us from the experience.

“Caught in her gaze, the viewer is not only forced to bear witness to her subjectivity, but implicated in her desolation.”

The work of the 31-year-old artist, who was born in Cambridge, UK, but is now based in Melbourne, Sydney, has often explored the relationship between female objectification and the role of male power.

Female artist strips naked in Paris museum and films it

She says her latest work is “conceptually challenging” as it “threatens our assumption that man's power is unsurmountable”.

She also said she wanted to highlight the idea that rape is "more than an unwanted sexual act, that it is the foundation for the entire institution of the patriarchy, and hence it is the crucial battleground for dismantling male power".

And she noted that while the piece may provoke a "horrified reaction", the subject of rape "isn't just about our desire to eradicate the epidemic".
In pictures: India in shock after teenage girls 'gang raped and hanged'

“It's essential to the patriarchy that rape is taboo, because demystifying the act challenges shame and erodes the fear that is needed to suppress the majority," she added.

Clarifying her motivation for the video, and perhaps pre-empting detractors, she stated:  "I’ve never had rape fantasy and I didn't enjoy making the work physically."

According to joint statistics from the Ministry of Justice and the Office for National Statistics, 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales every year.

Climate Feedback site allows scientists to correct media errors

Miami (AFP) - In one case, a writer claimed a mini Ice Age would befall Earth in 15 years. In another, an op-ed touted global warming as saving countless people from freezing to death.

A new project called Climate Feedback, run by a French scientist living in California, took these and other stories to task, and in the past year has critiqued climate change stories in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, the Telegraph, Forbes magazine, the Wall Street Journal and more.

Interested readers can visit the website ClimateFeedback.org to see what climate scientists thought of the original article.

The site uses web annotation software to enable line-by-line critiques from more than 100 volunteer scientists, pointing out what they see as errors, falsehoods and misrepresentations.

Founder Emmanuel Vincent, 31, said the project is about communication, not activism.

"We see it as a scientific endeavor," said Vincent, who is from the southern French village of Lignan sur Orb, near Montpellier, and works as a project scientist at the University of California, Merced.

"We try to be neutral and explain the science and why some people get it wrong in the media."

Vincent said the site is aimed at the general public, but particularly journalists, editors, and those who influence public opinion.

He is currently raising money to do even more by launching a "Scientific Trust Tracker" that would grade various media on reliability when it comes to climate change stories.

The US space agency, on its NASA Climate Twitter handle, called the project "a win for science and a win for climate reporting."

- Mixed response -

In some cases, the critiques have resulted in corrections, including the Telegraph article that claimed a mini Ice Age was imminent.

But others have not, such as a pair of Forbes articles -- one that featured a listicle of alleged global warming "lies" and another that claimed NASA denied any retreat of polar ice.

They garnered hundreds of thousands of views online but were never corrected, despite being described as "deeply inaccurate and misleading by the more than 20 scientists who reviewed them," according to ClimateFeedback.org.

Another popular target is Bjorn Lomborg, the Danish author of the 2001 best-seller, "The Skeptical Environmentalist," who frequently writes about the politics and economics of climate change.

Lomborg's opinion articles have been graded "very low" in terms of scientific credibility, and Climate Feedback scientists accuse him of "cherry-picking" data to back up his arguments, mainly that global warming has some benefits -- including the bit about saving people who might have frozen -- and that climate alarmism doesn't lead to effective solutions.

In an interview with AFP, Lomborg said he was "quite shocked" by the site's critiques, and disagreed with their tactics.

"They are having people pretend to talk science but they are really talking politics," he said.

"Because they are saying unless you say something that shows global warming is bad, you are wrong," he added.

Lomborg said he believes he is writing for a sophisticated audience that understands -- as he does -- that climate change is happening and is dangerous.

"The current way we are tackling it is incredibly ineffective," he said.

"Making it about only the negatives -- if you are only allowed to talk about that -- actually makes this a very, very poor way to be informed."

- Under the microscope -

So what is the best way to communicate about climate change?

Denial and skepticism about climate change remain a problem in the United States, where a recent Gallup poll found that one in three people do not blame human activity for global warming, and 57 percent do not see climate change as a serious threat.

Some say the media is to blame for these beliefs.

Meteorologist Eric Holthaus wanted to find a way to cut through the scientific jargon for readers of Rolling Stone in a piece titled "Point of No Return: Climate Change Nightmares are Already Here."

During the editing process, a climate scientist Holthaus respected said he liked the piece but feared Holthaus may have been to straightforward, too direct, too certain in assertions.

So Holthaus volunteered to have his story put under the microscope by Climate Feedback scientists.

Their review was mixed. They found no errors, but some commented on research he'd failed to mention, or found fault with the lack of links to original science articles.

"Maybe the scientists were reading it as if they were reading a formal journal article, and not necessarily a piece that is written to the same audience that reads music reviews," Holthaus told AFP.

He described the process as a "learning opportunity" that nevertheless raised many questions.

"If they are trying to fact check all of climate journalism, that seems to be a big task and then even you have to ask the question, what is the point of that?"

He also said relying on readers to go to ClimateFeedback.org to check an article that they may have read elsewhere, and expecting it would change their views "seems a little bit idealistic."
