621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay may begin accepting Bitcoin payments via its Braintree platform on: August 18, 2014, 08:03:44 AM

But Bitcoin is a direct competitior to Paypal, infact it could have the potential to severly damage it once people see how cheap and safe it is to send bitcoins.

Every business modeled on the old paradigm of money transfer will have to adequate its platform to what the market demands because of more accessible and convenient opportunities. Paypal can easily become an escrow or find a way to cover buyer interests. I am sure Paypal and other smart companies already know that they must not see Bitcoin as a threat but instead a way to expand their business in a different way and that innovation and changing is to be expected. Stagnation is not good for a company of that size.

eBay owns another payment system besides PayPal? WTF is Braintree?
Braintree is an app used to accept payments and transact online with mobile devices.

Te la sei cavata egregiamente secondo me, complimenti. Anche l'intervistatrice comunque se n'è stata tranquilla e ti ha lasciato spazio, cosa che spesso non succede normalmente, tanto meno su questo tipo di argomenti.

If there isnt a reason to worry, then there must be a reason to be excited? Looking like an interesting week ahead when you add in recent market performance.

It may just be that their business model is low-risk or that they have some kind of limitation because of the bank they use.

I see people selling league of legend accounts, but not sure how successful its compared to the d3 story I heard.

Im seeing some ebay listings for $100 per account.

That is a good money, How long until they can be sold by $100?

I think it's a matter of how good is your Elo rating, in other words if your account has a good win ratio you can sell it for a decent amount, but it's very time consuming. Diablo 3 was all about botting and flipping items on the auction house, so it was very easy to make money there. I don't understand why they shut the auction house off since their fees where outrageous.
625  Economy / Securities / Re: Lost Bitcoins -- Did you just get 0.2 bitcoins? on: August 17, 2014, 08:17:30 AM
I'd suggest you post on reddit.com/r/bitcoin and ask for help there, providing the proof that you did the transaction.
626  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase ran out of coins? on: August 17, 2014, 07:16:38 AM
It has happened before during periods of big and frequent buy orders, I don't think there's a reason to worry. It may be because of this period of vacations by the way.
627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for the Bitcoin on: August 17, 2014, 07:09:43 AM

Seams very likely, dont know why the recent drop in price, hoping it was a trap for weak hands.
Still hope it goes much higher than 1.5k tho, i got addicted to moon launches so much that 3x gain seams low, i know its insane but i cant help myself Smiley

Its definetly time to put mt.gox and other bad news behind and continue the lunar mission Tongue

If you don't follow the market, I'll tell you what's happening: Bitfenix is an exchange that lets you borrow liquidity and bet on Bitcoin price, when there was that spike around 680$ in June people thought it was the beginning of another bubble and a massive amount of dollars where borrowed for long positions. The trick is that you have to pay interests to keep those orders opened and the more time you keep those orders open the more the price have to rise in order for you to make a profit. Right now the price is plummeting because there's a sort of cascade effect being triggered by orders that are now in a really bad position and these people can't remain solvent forever. As long as there are bigger players in the market who don't care about the price being stagnant or going lower these people will keep losing money. And these big players are really patient, they are waiting for every order to be closed in red so the price gets low enough for them to enter with a strong position on the lowest possible price.
628  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Kraken or Localbitcoins? HELP on: August 16, 2014, 02:06:22 PM
Kraken works with Fidor which is a german bank, so I don't think there's anything to worry about, maybe if you're in US you should ask them first if that's a problem? Keep in mind it has low volume so price could change easily with heavy orders, but for just 2 btcs it's not a problem. Localbitcoins has its disadvantages aswell and you have to know what you're doing before meeting with a stranger, it's really easy to be scammed if the person you contacted has no feedback.
629  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best exchange to withdraw EUR ? on: August 16, 2014, 02:01:27 PM
Avoid Virwox as you will lose a substantial amount while exchanging if you do orders directly to market price. I'd suggest you use Bitstamp if you are ok with receiving a sepa transfer.
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just a convenient part of a much bigger picture..for the Banksters on: August 16, 2014, 12:09:57 PM
This topic is a recurring one in this section and others. There are many similar articles about this matter. The point is that Bitcoin has value because it is decentralized and because you don't have to trust a single central entity to be sure everything is alright. When this is not the case anymore, another cyptocurrency could be created by those people who were in because of this, and that number can only grow with time considering where the status quo brought us. Even new political parties are moving towards a decentralized structure or a more dynamic one anyway (at least in Europe). You can argue at that point institutions would ban any other currency, but that's a whole other story and consequences would be quite "cyberpunkish" I think.
631  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Ebay/Paypal's ridiculous fees on: August 16, 2014, 07:05:04 AM

I think it's inevitable that eBay/PayPal will accept bitcoin. There has been talk of it for quite sometime and just yesterday Wall Street Journal posted about Braintree (PayPal subsiduary) accepting PayPal. You can read that article here - http://online.wsj.com/articles/ebay-payment-unit-in-talks-to-accept-bitcoin-1408052917

I just don't see them passing the savings onto the consumers to be honest. If they did it would eat at PayPals core business.

That's what I guess too, there could be some minor changes in fees if they integrate Bitcoin into their system their but obviously not as big as their savings will be at first. Braintree already did so to a certain extent anyway and there was no advantage for the consumer. One can argue that the protection they offer is worth the cost, but it will be interesting to see what happens when people realize that with btc you can have such service in a more convenient way. I think anyway they will have to lower fees to stay in the game and they will have to redesign their platform to accomodate such changes.

Investing in this kind of bonds is always a bet that difficulty and price of bitcoin won't rise too fast for you to recover your initial investment. At this point the network has grown at an astonishing pace and will probably continue to do so for at least some time. There will be a time when the best bet could be waiting until mining hardware reaches a plateau and what matters is not really the hashing power but the efficiency of said hardware, but we are not really there yet so there's still some hope to recover another bit of your money in the meantime. Mining is a game of being always aware of what comes next and playing quickly.

Nice deals you got there, but be careful with faucets even if they are trusted some bad site can still be approved. Never leave your wallet on the same pc you use for surfing those. Smiley
I was once into ptc, the most famous and resilient one was Neobux but I didn't follow the space for quite some time, I'm sure they made some progress over the years. Getting referral for those sites may still be worth the effort. But I'm waiting for someone to make a btc ptc. Tongue

Smiley

I asked my people on Facebook if any of them could translate chinese in trade for STUFFED crust pizza.
No takers.  What?!? Are you people nuts?  There's cheeze in the friggin' crust.
Dummies.

There's a freelance translator (/u/KoKansei) on Reddit which translated some news from chinese central bank when there was all the buzz about China banning Bitcoin. We could make a topic on /r/bitcoinstocks and pagename him there so we can ask him to translate for a little compensation?
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for the Bitcoin on: August 15, 2014, 05:01:30 PM
This isn't really any news at the moment (regarding ebay) though its a step in the right direction.

Indeed ebay has been flirting with btc for quite some time now, they even added a mining section some time ago, but this is pretty big nonetheless. Braintree was acquired by Paypal one year ago and they estimated to make more than $100m of revenue in the first year and projected to process a volume of $12b (it is quite ambitious but it seems usage grew steadily every quarter). Think if they could integrate Bitcoin into their system, instead of just accepting it, that would be quite a jump.
638  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the West gearing up to invade Russia once again? on: August 15, 2014, 03:40:10 PM
European armies are not in shape for a war of that magnitude and if you read about recent acquisitions of weapons and vehicles it was most likely just to move some money around. At least for what concerns Italy they were "scammed" and ripped off with inefficient fighters and weapons, but in that case too it was probably just because they wanted to make their games to take some tax money. US intervention should be massive for something like that to happen and though they have means and funds to do so (since as always it's the only sector that receives good tax money), I don't see it happening considering they have very little to gain off such an effort.
I'm going to give a different view on the topic. Economy is changing and in a near future it will most likely move away from what triggered recent wars. Just think what progress technology has made in the past decade and traslate that in the next 10 years. We always talk about decentralization in btc but everyone should consider how decentralized the world has become in terms of accessibility to what even a couple of years ago just few people could have. Food and energy won't be a problem in some years (hell, they aren't a problem today considering how much food we waste). Imho information and data will be, so next conflicts, if we can call them so and if there really will be some, won't be fought on the ground, but mainly on cyberspace and probably in the near solar system as firsts enterprises are looking to begin asteroid mining in 2020-2024. You shouldn't be really concerned for an invasion or big wars nowadays.
639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for the Bitcoin on: August 15, 2014, 03:20:53 PM
The value is about to explode... too many good news without any price increase.

I think things will be fairly calm until the etfs go online. Once that happens things will get crazy.

uh what means etfs?

Exchange traded funds. It's an investment fund with features like passive management and can be traded like regular stocks and commodities. Basically we will see Bitcoin traded on Wall Street.
I think etfs are still an open bet, even if the Winklevoss one seems like it's in a good position for approval these things take ages to be accepted and don't forget still ongoing regulations for btc.
