10583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO FAIL on: June 09, 2016, 10:22:47 AM
This is a good opportunity for other devs to create their own DAO. Maybe Lisk devs should start creating one. This is a massive opportunity to get a better one out in the market.
10584  Other / Off-topic / Re: Steady Way To earn Bitcoin Online... on: June 08, 2016, 01:41:26 PM
What advice can you give to someone who wants to earn bitcoins online ,however not through faucets

Get a job and save some of your pay to buy BTC. That's the only best way I know of when starting out.
10585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: June 08, 2016, 01:35:53 PM
dollar replace gold
bitcoin replace dollar
new currency replace bitcoin
Roll Eyes

Hehehe. Simple. But also a practical and possble outcome.
10586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question about the Waves platform's tokens on: June 08, 2016, 01:27:56 PM
Hi Wind_FURY! Here are two quotes from mx:

"Waves is the blockchain transport layer with Waves token being the fuel of the entire platform,

Transaction fees, issuance fees and all other platform fees?

Quote
used everywhere in the middle while doing different operations"

Bridge currency on built in exchange?

Did I understand it correctly?
10587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Question about the Waves platform's tokens on: June 08, 2016, 01:02:29 PM
What would the WAVES coins-tokens be in the platform? Will it be straight up used only for staking and maybe as 'fuel' for transcation fees? Or is it like Ripple where the tokens can be used as a bridge currency in the built in exchange?

Follow up question. What exchanges will Waves be listed?

10588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hoskinson joins LISK, remember his rant about Waves? on: June 08, 2016, 12:54:48 PM
Charles Hoskinson - a character known by some ppl in this scene - recently stirred up a huge drama saying that Waves is stealing his company's work,

now he was added to LISK as senior advisor.

Popcorn

~CfA~

It's a mix up in Hoskisnson's own company.  And that dev from his company is onboard Waves as a consultant.  And no one is stealing anything from anybody, the code is open source.
10589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about Bitcoindark and Supernet? on: June 08, 2016, 10:29:27 AM
I strongly invested into Bitcoindark and Supernet almost one year ago. I have expected a release of Supernet, InstantDex and Pangea soon when I invested in these items 11 months ago. The expectations have not fulfilled yet. I am currently thinking about to sell my stakes of BTCD and Supernet but I am not really sure about it. For that reason, I would like to know your opinion. Is it worth to hold these stakes?

Just stay away if you're not invested or slowly sell them without upsetting the price if you're holding them. You are missing the opportunity to invest in other more profitable prospects. Looking at github they have been working on these projects but without any solid results yet. So it might better to wait until they have something to show for and check of their assets are worth to invest in.

Just my 2c.
10590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How is Rise not a scam? Team way under qualified. on: June 08, 2016, 10:13:41 AM
Their ICO is not really looking good. One month into the ICO and they only collected just over 600 BTC. I don't know how much their burn rate will be but that wouldn't be enough to last them 2 - 3 years in my opinion. They should spend some of that ICO money and do some more and better marketing.
10591  Economy / Speculation / Re: Max Price of Bitcoin After Halving on: June 08, 2016, 09:56:42 AM
If I was forced to guess, I would say BTC max price after the halving could reach $750 then go back down to 500 - 600. I'm no expert but that would be my best guess.  A realistic figure of where BTC could go.
10592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Both Poloniex and YoBit are down! on: June 08, 2016, 02:10:02 AM
It's not surprising that YoBit are not tweeting about their issue, but it is strange for Poloniex! Are they both under DDoS attack or we are facing Armageddon here?

Althogh it was far from altcoin armageddon, exchanges have no excuse when they go offline. What kind of an online exchange allows that to happen? That's a red flag in my book. Albeit a minor one, but still a red flag. They should do better.
10593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lisk making a move on: June 08, 2016, 01:16:45 AM
I think LISK will continue to go up for the next few weeks and crash like any other altcoin as soon as btc halvening effects kicks in.

But Lisk have a huge community, It can be a clear signal of that it is different.

On the coat-tails of Ethereum we are seeing the next shitcoin wave salted with "smart" contracts:
Lisk (= Crypti pig + lipstick), Expanse ("b'cause we can"),  Uther ("fair premine for the developers  copy cats") ...
Remember BTC -> LTC -> FTC?

Barring the good intentions of the devs of these projects, yes. Sad but true. Ethereum ICO has shown that there's a market for smart contracts that people could buy into. Now every other dev wants to join the bandwagon and make lots of money. I am not saying that's bad, but it's the reality and nature of things. Plus a little competition between platforms is always good.

If there is a market for a new idea then 1st mover coin delivering that idea takes it all.
Me too copy cats are always growing slower than 1st mover.
At best copy cat shitcoins are a winning proposition for their "developers".

Code:
sed -i 's/parent_coin_name/copy_cat_name/g' *

does not bring innovation. But at least funny things can happen when fast & dirty copy cats are at work:

you can’t change the GPL copyright, only for individual new files that you add to your repository.
In expanse-project/go-expanse@d368397 commit you basically changed all headers from
"go-ethereum" to "go-expanse"
and you've changed the AUTHORS file to go-expanse.
Not only is this not true, this is also highly unfair to those that have contributed their time to the go-ethereum project.
I ask you kindly that you revert all these changes.

If you’d like to claim copyright to individual changed files please mody the header such that you’re credited
and rightfully copyrighted to the right places using Portions (c) go-expanse
lol
But don’t remove the current copyright
I suspect you did a grep on ethereum and replaced it all with expanse and that you’re not even awara of these changes.
Considering that I have an expanse email address I’m unaware of

...

Christopher Franko @chrisfranko May 25 18:14
@obscuren oh crap! Im very sorry. Yes thats exactly what happened, ill fix that in a little while for you.
Because you are completely right it would be unfair. ^_^ Also if you want I can forward that email to your ethereum email

That's dirty and funny at the same time because they are claiming what's obviously not theres. Devs today.
10594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Augur competitor ...Gnosis on: June 08, 2016, 01:11:26 AM
The same can be said with Augur. They are only after the ICO funds, one can argue. There was a thread around here that states that Augur is a broken system and that the founders knew about this and yet continued and collected BTC thru their ICO. It was very technical but the evidence shown was very compelling.

Personally, I am waiting for Hivemind release.
10595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH vs btc? on: June 08, 2016, 12:48:44 AM
BTC is still king. There's already so much investment built around BTC that it has very much a life of its own. Any fall in price is immediately supported and bought by the people waiting in the sidelines to hold long term. LONG TERM. It has become an asset that people are willing to store like gold.
10596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most Exciting Bitcoin Projects! on: June 08, 2016, 12:30:16 AM

Do a lot of people use Bitsquare? This seems to be a breakthrough in trading platforms. I'm wondering why there's no clamor behind it.

Not yet, it probably needs to reach critical mass before tons of people start using it.

Its still early release with many bugs so people need more time to get comfortable with it.

But can I do trades in it now? I downloaded it but I still have not installed it yet.
10597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Augur competitor ...Gnosis on: June 07, 2016, 08:26:42 PM
Nothing much except that it will use Ethereum as its base platform. They haven't started their ICO yet, so maybe they will make a proposal to The DAO in order to get funded. I'm not really sure but that's how I see it. The DAO is holding enough capital to seed fund 20 - 30 projects. It could be more.
10598  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens when Chinese speculators enter Bitcoin market? on: June 07, 2016, 07:56:36 PM
Speculating is a widespread hobby in China. We can see this quite well based on the past years. First, the Chinese invested heavily in real estate. When the market slowed, the speculators turned to the Chinese stock market. As it slowly collapsed last year, most speculators got into the natural resources sector and caused rising prices. It is only a matter of time before the Chinese speculating in a big way with Bitcoin and crypto currencies. What do you expect in this case, when suddenly hundreds of thousands more people are speculating with crypto coins with high leverage?

Prices quickly go up due to the sudden surge, then go down due to them leaving. But I hope they invest in BTC for the long term, that way we see some investment trickle down to other cryptos too, hopefully.
10599  Economy / Securities / Re: Where should I invest after the halving?! on: June 07, 2016, 03:34:49 PM
Gambling sites? But according to some people, it is not advisable or you can't earn much Bitcoin on gambling because there is no assurance. You might lost on the long run. I'm looking for a long term investments.
He's referring to a bankroll though, and if I remember correctly, it is like directly investing in the site and they pay you money for either x amount of time till you get x return, x amount of money indefinitely or until they close or you withdraw your original investment, or something else.

Similar to investing in a company, but in this instance you give them the money directly and they pay you accordingly.

A bankroll? What gambling sites do this? And what usually are their terms?

Is there a thread in the forum showing how this works?
10600  Economy / Securities / Re: Where should I invest after the halving?! on: June 07, 2016, 03:20:08 PM
According to some discussions, most of the mining sites will close after the halving. Then where should I invest to earn Bitcoin? It is not advisable to deposit to HYIP because most of it are SCAM! Do you have any idea where to earn bitcoin after the halving?

Just hold your coins if you aren't sure.
