10221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin arbitrage on: October 08, 2016, 06:21:43 AM
In doing arbitrage you have to be very fast. I believe there maybe some traders already doing this using their bots. Everything should be synchronized and precise of you want to make money doing this and you should have a large amount to do it with or else it will not be worth it.
10222  Economy / Speculation / Re: $BTC Weekend Price Prediction on: October 08, 2016, 06:13:42 AM
Price predictions are like weather predictions. In theory everything should happen like the theory predict and then something good or bad happens and everything goes to hell. We are seeing steady growth, but one Bitfinex event could blow this progress back to the $200 levels.

I would have thought the announcement about the first LN transaction that was done, should have sparked some upward trend in the price, but I think that might be a bit optimistic and premature. ^smile^

This is true as you will notice that most of the OP's predictions and analysis are more on the obvious and the safe side. He does not give the exact time when the predictions will happen because the markets by nature are very unpredictable. But it is good to read all the analysis posted in this forum. It will sometimes give you a fresh perspective and also new ideas on how others are thinking about the cryptocurrency markets.
10223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you believe banks will work with Bitcoin, you're delusional on: October 07, 2016, 12:30:34 PM
It is funny that we sometimes see some people get pumped and all happy when there is news that a bank might start to use and adopt Bitcoin. The main reason they are happy is they think that the price will rise and increase the value of their stash. What they fail to realize is banks do not need Bitcoin or a blockchain. What they need is a database.
10224  Economy / Speculation / Re: $BTC Weekend Price Prediction on: October 07, 2016, 03:58:39 AM
Thanks for confirming that bitcoin will continue its terribly stable price levels.
Your upper consolidation levels of $700 might be happening before the end of this month as there are a lot of good supporting news are keep on coming. Let us hope for good to happen.

What do you mean by "upper consolidation levels of $700"? That Bitcoin will start going up to $700 and then stay stable to start consolidating again around that price? I do not think that would happen before the end of the month like you mentioned. That would be very optimistic of you to think that it will. That kind of momentum going to $700 before the end of the month would be so strong and it would take Bitcoin beyond $700 in my opinion. To where it will crash is anyone's guess because a large pump will be the only thing that will take BTC to $700 in a decently short amount of time.

When there is a pump you know what will follow later.
10225  Economy / Economics / Re: Earning a living from cyptocurrency options trading on: October 07, 2016, 03:47:26 AM
Does Algoswan still update this thread? He said that he will post his live trades. I think it would be interesting to watch and learn from what he does and the moves he makes with Bitcoin and Ethereum. I am still a newbie in trading and I would like to know how much in average does he earn from trading. Also if my starting capital is 10 BTC how much would I expect to earn each month learning his style?
I think most people posting in this thread confuse cryptocurrency trading with cryptocurrency options trading. In options trading, you don't have to be right in your predictions all the time. Just google following: covered calls which is my main strategy to earn a living from cryptocurrency options trading.

Ok thanks for making that clear to us. So where can we start trading cryptocurrency options and when will you demonstrate your live trades in the thread? I would also like to know what books and youtube videos would you recommend for starting to learn options trading.
10226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do when BTC is overrun by a centralized mindset? on: October 07, 2016, 03:15:55 AM
After putting a few feelers out there it is obvious what you will do.

You will follow the status quo and do nothing to flush out the sickness.

These are your own words. That's what YOU would do, or so it seems. You cannot generally apply a rule.

Bitcoin is looking good and there are no other cryptos worth moving your BTC to. Mining will get better soon with western business coming in the game (like McAfee)

For now, eastern countries have way better energy costs. Unless western countries (like the USA) bet even more on renewable energies, they will not be able to match hashrates and infrastructures found on the East.

Bitcoin will never be overrun by a centralized mindset because its miners are dispersed all over the world. Maybe China dominates mining, but there are miners in western countries, and there always will be. As long as mining is a worldwide activity no centralized mindset can control it.

Maybe but always keep in mind that the cartelization of Bitcoin mining is happening right now. If you think this to be impossible then I would say that you are being naive. People are people and it is in our very nature to want to gain control of something and have some power over it. What is stopping the top Bitcoin miners from talking with each other to help steer their agenda and self interests?
10227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin comunity and cryptos coins comunity on: October 07, 2016, 02:55:53 AM
You should not have to search for Bitcoin forums, because you are already on the best one.  Grin ... I have yet to see any other forum

with this much activity. The Reddit sub-reddits mentioned here are either censored or biased and full of shills and trolls. The Eth sites are

pumping the shit out of it on their forums, and the other forums do not have anything unique to make it worth your while to spend time

there.  Roll Eyes

The problem with bitcointalk.org right now is it is full of useless threads and posts especially in the altcoin forum. For example if I want to learn more about an altcoin and start a thread or post a question about it, I get a barrage of replies that altcoin "X" is a scam and they suggest to buy altcoin "Y" instead. So it is very hard to get the information that you are looking for. Yes there is google but sometimes it helps to hear first hand experiences from other people and start discussing it.
10228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will price be at around $700 by end of october on: October 07, 2016, 01:55:54 AM
Currently price is trying to break $600 but still lots of selling force is trying to push the price down under $600. What you guys think can this October bring another good pump pushing price well above $700 ?

That would be good for all of us Bitcoin holders but I do not believe it could happen judging from the current price movements. To go up and reach $700, Bitcoin must first go over $650 first which is something that I do not believe can happen for the rest of 2016. Unless there is some big, unexpected and spectacular news then maybe it will. For now I will not keep my hopes up.

I am actually waiting for the opposite to happen so that we could start buying more coins at bargain prices.

I think the dips below 600 are (almost) over and don't expect that we will see any significant dips anymore that make waiting worth it.

700 by the end of this month is completely feasible and if it happens, I don't think we will be waiting around at those values. More momentum will build.

After studying and considering the most probable and possible outcomes, yes I would have to say that a Bitcoin price of trending back to $550 is not going to happen anymore. Unless there is another exchange getting hacked or some very bad news.

Maybe it is because of the halving. It is now in the miner's interest to protect and support the price of Bitcoin so that their mining operations and in the case of Bitmain also their ASIC manufacturing business and mining related interests continue to be profitable.
10229  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus multi-asset Bitcoin wallet on: October 06, 2016, 06:41:00 AM
Hello JP, it looks like that you are also cautious about introducing the Exodus wallet to interested users. That's a good thing in my opinion because it will not make people expect more than what it really is. Anyway is the code of the wallet audited and are there really closed source code included in the wallet? Also please explain why. Thank you sir.

What Will it Take For BTC to Reach $1000?

Let's discuss.

The original post was made on May of 2015. More than a year later Bitcoin is still under $1000. Not even the halving has made it rise above it. Some people have mentioned that the halving was the biggest chance for Bitcoin to reach and go over $1000. But it isn't so.

Now let us think of a new scenario and start over again from the beginning. What will it take for Bitcoin rise to $1000 and go beyond it?
10232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin comunity and cryptos coins comunity on: October 06, 2016, 05:35:03 AM
You can find more active cryptocurrency reddit subs than their actual community forum, I have noticed. So I suggest that you search for the subreddit of the cryptocurrency that you are interested in.

In the Bitcoin community, my opinion is that the /r/bitcoin sub is more informative of the latest news and developments in the Bitcoin world.
10233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bubble of the central banks will burst soon on: October 06, 2016, 02:13:53 AM
That was the headline I saw on the internet earlier today. What kind of impact on bitcoin will it have when it happens?

This topic belongs to Economy and please post the link of the headline. It would be hard to discuss it if we do not know exactly what you are talking about.

On a related note, there was an article on coindesk.com about Bill Gross saying that the central banks are pushing investors to Bitcoin. He was quoted saying this

"Bitcoin and privately agreed upon blockchain technologies amongst a small set of global banks, are just a few examples of attempts to stabilize the value of their current assets in future purchasing power terms. Gold would be another example — historic relic that it is. In any case, the current system is beginning to be challenged."

http://www.coindesk.com/bill-gross-casino-markets-pushing-investors-to-bitcoin/

So a statement like that coming from a person like him solidifies the fact the Bitcoin can be used as a hedge like gold to keep value and as a store of value. Any price blips down should be a sign to buy more on a bargain. Another economic collapse is just around the corner.

10234  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any good Bitcoin games around? on: October 06, 2016, 01:58:54 AM
Gambit.com used to accept Bitcoins and let users play versus each other for their BTC deposits. They have a good list of games over there including backgammon, yatzy, dominoes and even bitnopoly. Too bad they stopped accepting Bitcoins and remained a play money site. But according to their chat box you can exchange your play money with BTC. I tried asking how they do it but they do not answer. Maybe they are keeping it secret. If anyone finds out please do not hesitate to pm me.
10235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: October 06, 2016, 01:39:54 AM
Jaxx and #ETC, @Apple-approved and now live on iOS! #Ethereum #EthereumClassic http://jaxx.io

https://twitter.com/jaxx_io/status/783656395912704000

This is really good news. At least now Ethereum Classic will be seen by everyone as a legitimate cryptocurrency and not a platform that was forked and abandoned by the Ethereum Foundation. I wish there were more good news coming out from the developers.

By the way, who are the core developers of this project? I heard Charles Hoskinson actively supports ETC but is he actively coding any fixes and upgrades for ETC?
10236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: October 05, 2016, 06:34:01 AM
Ethereum Classic Price Technical Analysis – ETC Remains A Sell

Ethereum classic price remained under the resistance area as highlighted in yesterday’s post. The highlighted bearish trend line on the hourly chart of ETC/BTC (data feed via Simplefx) is still active and protecting gains. I mentioned two things yesterday. First, it won’t be easy for the bulls to break the resistance. Second, there is a warning sign for the sellers in the form of a double bottom pattern near 0.00182BTC.

So what does that mean? If you cannot break resistance then it cannot go up if there is a double bottom then most likely that is the support. Would it be wise to buy more as it reaches 0.00182 BTC?

This is my first altcoin to hold for the long term and sometimes I think it is not a good buy because I bought starting at .00205 - .0021. Now I believe it would be needed to buy again at a lower price to average down my loss while it is small. It would also be preferable if 0.00182 is the bottom.
10237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confirmation Time..? on: October 05, 2016, 06:21:22 AM

3) The fee should be displayed in satoshis/byte for accurate representation (which lets us determine whether it was too high or not.

So what would the average fee be in satoshis per byte? I believe all of the wallets whether it is offline or a webwallet would let the user choose how much you want to pay in transaction fees. So it would be unfair to even suggest for the OP to stop using blockchain.info. I know they have had their problems in the past but to be fair they also have been offering a decent and convenient service for small transactions.
10238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin Price Predictions for 2016 Range as High as $1200? on: October 05, 2016, 04:26:49 AM
One month later after OP posted this thread we are still in the same price range for Bitcoin. I may have made a mistake by saying that Bitcoin might end up at under $600 by the end of the year but it is more likely that we will end up in the same price range by the end of the year. To make a statement that is on the safe side, what might happen is Bitcoin might end up being still under $650 until the end of the year and it might be a little longer than that.

But here is the good news. This new found stability is what might attract more people to invest in Bitcoin. Most of the mainstream investors value stability more because they are looking for an investment vehicle to park their funds. That is why gold is an attractive investment for them.
10239  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Price Update for October 3, 2016 on: October 05, 2016, 03:51:41 AM

On that note, we still think a final washout move back down into the 570 - 590 $ area is more likely than not, at least to recharge the indicators and to put a scare into weak hands prior to the big move up and out of the broad 450 - 700 $ consolidation region.

GLGT!

This is what I have been expecting recently also but the problem is when will this happen? I believe no one is speculating too much as to when that will be for now because if you look at the BTC market, it is all flat and nothing is really happening at present. So if you could please give us your opinion on when you expect the washout move will happen then that would be very good to add on your prediction and charting methods.
