how do you add funds to your binance account? do Pakistani banks allow you to wire them money?

Also bitcoin reached a milestone recently. PKR 1 crore per coin!

you can compare the key fingerprints with the one in this youtube video:

https://youtu.be/7D83IpdiF-U?t=2

the full key fingerprint cannot be faked so it doesn't matter where you get the public key from as long as it has the right fingerprint.

easier way to search addresses is to go to view menu > show addresses, switch to addresses tab, press ctrl+f and paste in the address in question.
124  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to locate package libsecp256k1-0 on: October 08, 2021, 10:54:47 AM
use the app image version of electrum. it's designed to work on older systems like yours.
125  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Cannot connect to my electrs server (“shutting down connection”) on: September 25, 2021, 01:04:50 PM
enable debug logging in the client and see what it says:

126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cannot recover electrum wallet with 12 seed electrum phrase on: September 23, 2021, 02:51:15 PM
you can remove the drive form the old laptop and use it in a new machine. coffee spilt does not mean that the drive is damaged.
127  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: different instances of Electrum on Tails (without persistence) on: September 15, 2021, 10:36:46 AM
Hello forum,

I heard that  spending different outputs together should be avoided, if anonymity is an issue and using entirey different wallets
is a way to do that :-)

Would it be ok boot Tails and to start Electrum (without persistence), "restore" funds by entering the 12 word seed, make transactions, than
reboot Tails restore my other 12 word seed for my second "bitcoin profile" and so long?
Of course this is not very comfortable, but  for for my needs probaby ok:)

Thank's a lot!

Joe

You don't have to reboot to restore a different wallet from seed. You can do so via file > new/restore.
128  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Backing up and restoring Electrum Portable on: August 17, 2021, 08:10:30 PM
you can backup the wallet file via file menu >  save backup in electrum.  Later on the new installation you can open the wallet file via file > open or by clicking on the browse button in the starting window.
129  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Issue on: August 08, 2021, 08:04:02 PM
Why would you connect to your own electrum server over tor? Remove the tor proxy settings in electrum and see if that fixes your problem.
130  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: need some help for electrum 4.1.5 in raspberry pi 2b on: August 01, 2021, 11:38:03 AM
q3 the warnings don't seem to impact electrum's operation so i would ignore them.
131  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lost Bitcoines In A Transaction to Coinbase on: July 29, 2021, 02:49:48 PM
The malicious Electrum wallets did not wait for the user to create a transaction, and simply swept all the funds as soon the wallet was opened.

Unless he had a password set. In that case the software waits until you try to spend bitcoin and enter the password to do so and then it steals from you.

132  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Multisig in Electrum: instructions for recovery. on: July 26, 2021, 03:44:51 AM

5. Remember the fact that in Electrum the cosigners are organized in lexicographical order. (In case they want to rebuild it later with something different than Electrum).

Other wallets will not be able to restore from an electrum seed. You absolutely will need electrum to restore the wallet.

If Electrum stops working, I can just use Electrum offline to build the wallet and sign the transaction. Then I can broadcast it with another wallet. Am I correct?

Also, shouldn't I be able to build the same wallet in another software wallet that allows multisig for BTC?

Thanks,

if electrum servers stop working then you won't be able to craft a transaction to sign with electrum. in order to craft a transaction electrum needs to be online so that it can learn about unspent outputs relevant to your wallet.

you can't recreate the wallet using other software. at least not trivially.

133  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Ledger and Electrum addresses don't match on: July 25, 2021, 06:23:13 AM
How else can I prove ownership of the address?  I assumed that once I signed and verified the address via the Ledger Live/Electrum method (which was successful) that I needed to send those details (address, message, signing hash) to the person that needs to verify it for proof?

This in theory should be a simple task but I'm on it for two days now.

pair electrum with ledger again in a fresh wallet file and this time choose legacy as the address type when asked. you can begin again via file > new/restore. then you'll be able to generate signatures that can be verified using third party tools. only legacy addresses have a standard signature format.

135  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Redeem Casascius using Electrum 4.1.5 on: July 25, 2021, 06:15:54 AM
omit the script type prefix and it'll work. mini private keys were all p2pkh anyway.
136  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Installation of Electrum Failed on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on: July 22, 2021, 01:08:10 AM
you should do a system wide installation if you want fancy things like shortcuts:

Code:
sudo pip3 install /path/to/tarball.tar.gz

alternatively just manually create a shortcut to ~/.local/bin/electrum in your launcher menus/desktop.

137  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum: Urgent question on seed phrase and pass phrase on: July 16, 2021, 11:55:40 PM
I was able to transfer my bitcoins to a new electrum wallet that I created with a password and an extended mnemonic seedphrase. My question is this safe enough or would I have to create a new wallet with a password, extended mnemonic seedphrase AND also add 2FA?
As long as no one has access to your seed phrase (a series of 12 words) and your passphrase (the words or characters you entered to extend your seed phrase), your fund is secure.

@hosseinimr93 As for the passphrase that you mentioned, what do you mean exactly? is this different from the seed phrase and the password?
The 12 words electrum gave you is called seed phrase.
The words or characters you added to your seed phrase when creating the wallet is called passphrase.
What you need to enter when opening the wallet or sending bitcoin is called password.

If you don't use any passphrase, the seed phrase is enough for recovering the wallet.
If you use a passphrase, for recovering the wallet, you need both seed phrase and passphrase.

Note that your password is stored locally and is used only for encrypting the wallet file.
Anyone has access to the seed phrase (+passphrase if there's any) doesn't need the password.

What if my system gets compromised and someone has access to the 12 word seed phrase BUT not the pass phrase (extension words), is it still safe?

Both the seed and seed extension (passphrase) are stored in the wallet file so if someone compromises your system and gets past your wallet password they will have everything they need to steal from you. They can get the wallet password by installing a key logger on your system so that when you enter the password it gets recorded and they can use it to decrypt the wallet file.

if your worried about a system compromise then create a 2fa wallet or a multisig wallet. this way if one device is compromised the attacker can't steal from you. they have to compromise multiple devices.

you will have to create a new wallet with a fresh electrum generated seed if you want to use 2fa or multisig. Note that 2fa wallets can be recovered using the seed phrase so that's how you get access to your coins in the event you lose your phone. In the case of 2fa wallets the seed is only displayed during the wallet creation process and is not stored in the wallet file. During normal use you need the services of trusted coin to cosign your 2fa wallet transactions which they will do when you enter the correct OTP code from google authenticator.
138  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to sign PSBT with electrum? on: July 16, 2021, 11:47:15 PM
you sign using the private key behind the inputs not the output address. if you don't have the private key behind the input address you can't sign the transaction.

139  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: "Not enough funds" but i have funds! on: July 10, 2021, 03:47:38 PM
I did everything as instructed and it's still saying I don't have enough funds.

Could it be that you have all your BTC contained entirely in one address, which is involved in an outgoing unconfirmed transaction?

Inputs tied up in a sending unconfirmed transaction can't be used in other transactions until it's confirmed, so if that's your situation you should work on getting all your sending transactions confirmed first, or go to the Preferences > Transactions and check "Spend Only Confirmed Coins". This should let you make transactions, but they'll all be dependent on the other sending transaction to get confirmed first.

Receiving transactions that you didn't initiate shouldn't tie up an address' coins, since those will create new outputs in your wallet.

uncheck rather than check that option.

spending unconfirmed outputs will be a form of cpfp. it might speed up confirmation.

anyone else facing this issue should see this faq which covers other possibilities: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/frequently-asked-questions/#why-am-i-being-told-that-i-have-insufficient-funds
140  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: do i need create a new wallet for my old version electrum created wallet? on: July 05, 2021, 07:32:00 PM
The standard for generating electrum seeds never changed as far as I know
Electrum implement a new method of generating seeds in Version 2.0. Seeds created in earlier versions did not include a version number, and also required a fixed wordlist which was different to the BIP39 wordlist. These seeds will not necessarily recovery properly in recent versions of Electrum. Version 2.0 was released in March 2015, though, so it's probably unlikely that OP is using a seed phrase created by a version of Electrum prior to this.

electrum maintains backwards compatibility with all old seed mnemonics. you can restore a pre 2.0 wallet in the latest electrum.

OP you can use the same wallet file as in your old version. You can also restore from seed but you won't have to. Electrum will find your old wallet files and upgrade them as needed.
