trying to figure out the inflation between Nov '21 and now.

All these calculators are totally bollocks ...2% a year or so...laughable..   someone knows an accurate calculator?

It depends on the coin.... Not sure about USD.... but EUR inflation in that timeframe is around 15% (total).

Going to bed tonight with the real possibility of waking up to a new ATH in the morning. It's a great time to be alive (and asleep).

I would wait a few more minutes.... Just in case.

Weekly candle already closed over $63K... amazing!

P.S.: That has only happened two times in the past.

Accounting Standards Update 2023-08 might be an important contribution to the special status of this bull cycle. It has been mentioned before, but the consequences haven't struck me until now.

With the old rules, if you had bitcoin on your balance and you bought low, you'd still look (balance wise) as poor as when you bought it. With the new rules, you appear to be as rich (balance wise) as the bitcoin price allows.

I hope this won't be a precursor of taxing the 'unrealized capital gains'.

I don't know the tax code too well, but I doubt they would (or could) do that to companies.

I don't know about other countries but... As an example, in Spain there are some investments like funds (not sure about Bitcoin specifically as I don't have any company owning Bitcoin) that companies do need to update at end of year to its "market value" and adjust profit/loses according to it no matter if the company didn't sell. Individuals are NOT required to do this unless they sell though.

So I wouldn't be that much surprised if that is already the same case of other countries nor about them adopting it in the future (because states always tend to adopt the more favorable/profitable tax rules... for them).

"we want you to break new ground 70k over night."

I have 7pm EST  let us see 70,019 by 8am tomorrow morning.

chopper will get very busy so vroom will need be ready for  the exercise.

 Grin

I don't think we're going to have the strength to push it to new highs during a weekend.  Maybe I'm wrong but it feels like the market is really centering around ETF trading these days.  Maybe the weekend will stir up some FOMO for Monday action that will take us to new heights...  We'll have to wait and see.  I tend to think we have another week or two of consolidation before we take another leg up, but this market has been surprising me since the beginning. We could rip straight to $100K before the halving and it would seem normal at this point.

Agreed.

I will be more than happy if (as it seems will happen) we close the weekly candle over 60K. Consolidation is important.

Guys, a stupid question. I had the paper with my seed phrase on the bed and used my iPhone in my hand to enter the PIN code of my ledger. These 2 minutes my iPhone camera was probably directed towards my seed phrase. Should I be worried? Or am I good? Is NSA watching and has my seed phrase already? Please only serious answers.

Edit: I’m in Thailand right now and using True 5g mobile provider. And German citizen. Nothing to do with the US government.

If the camera module wasn't even powered on I would not worry too much about the risk of a compromised iPhone with up to date firmware. But you can always transfer it all to another wallet (with a different seed) if that would make you feel better about it.

Should you be worried? Most probably not.

Are you good? Not 100%, but nearly.

Is NSA watching and has your seed phrase already? Very unlikely.

This is absolutely insane:

The Coinbase, $COIN, crash just erased $100 BILLION of market cap in #Bitcoin in 15 minutes.

Between 12:15 PM ET and 12:30 PM ET, Bitcoin fell from $64,000 to $59,000.

This was a near 9% swing in 15 minutes right as many Coinbase users began showing a $0 balance in their account.

It also happened to occur just as Bitcoin was less than 10% away from a new all time high.

Coinbase is reportedly still working on fixing the issue.

What just happened?

https://twitter.com/KobeissiLetter/status/1762899668055232549

JUST IN: Coinbase CEO says "We are dealing with a LARGE surge of traffic" that crashed the exchange.

https://twitter.com/BTC_Archive/status/1762902467149238493

It's strange: if there was a correction, there was a sale... where is the sale? to move almost 10% it takes millions of dollars.... what really happened?

just at the time of the coinbase crash Huh

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domino_effect

Also, no... That's not how markets work... But that would be more complex to explain. Let's just say theoretical market cap is influenced but not directly extrapolable to amounts bought or sold.

Are we poor again?

Nahhhh, it is just taking some well deserved rest before going for the ATH. No hurry.

someone brought up Mindrust, and I hope that person is OK mentally given the conditions.

This entire forum could be compiled into a prophetic text. For the Old Testament and literal word of the creator, we have early devs and Satoshi. Then our New Testament is full of pages, with many parables from this WO thread. The pages of AdamsBigBlock, the parable of the R0ach, the parable of Mindrust, etc.

Really, our belief system is to not trust, but verify. And collectively, we all want that sweet church tax-break.

I have lost as much as him just because of a emergency I needed funds for before the market spiked and I was never able to get it back.

Sometimes reality really hates me. Smiley

He knows he made a mistake listening to his favorite astrologer (which I actually warned about) and doesn't need us to rub it in.

Taking enjoyment out of others misfortune is a sign of a very low moral compass.

Moral of the story is to always try to keep savings in because honey badger don't give a shit!

As I recall, he didn't lose anything.
I thought he just broke even and decided to get out with his $40k while (he figured) the gettin' was good?

yep. he got out at the same price he got in (almost)

Bitcoin just isn't for you, if you can't stomach paper losses in your first cycle...

In fact it was the price approaching his average buy price what apparently broke him. Even if he just hours before he was in the mood of shouting sorta like "bring more dump to me so that I can buy moar".... Even if he had just reached his personal record and long time awaited 10 BTC round figure... But somehow he was suddenly broken by the price going under his average price... something that, I think, he never experienced before. Also he suddenly felt that all the money he had put into his "buying" was much more than he could afford to lose. Say overinvested if you want... whatever you name it... it was the perfect storm... for him. He broke.

He sold, on the way down, somewhere around 4.5K and 4K.... the lowest spike went to around 3.8K IIRC. So, yeah, almost at the lowest point of the dump. He even had a couple days to rebuy at more or less the price he had sold it all. He decided not to even if some people here tried really hard to make him reconsider his position when he could still undo it at more or less the same price he sold.

I sometimes wonder if I could have done anything to make him not make that "mistake" (easy to say afterwards but it was a really ugly night) when he was basically announcing what he was about to do in "real time" but.... First of all I couldn't believe he was serious in his "going FULL out" (Had to ask him twice if he really mean it), second it was a very ugly moment and no one could be sure how low it could dump and third, I think I was very vocal that while he was selling I was buying with all my leftovers on exchanges with the intention of riding the dump to whatever price it would take.

Anyways, time later he seemed ok with his decision and was doing forex (USD) trades and supossedly doing reasonably good on it. So, even if it probably wasn't as much profitable as Bitcoin has been afterwards... I hope he did "good enough" and is enjoying a good life.

And I better stop here because... while ending this post... somehow it also came to my mind the names of BlindMayorBitcorn, VB1001.... and several other GOOD MEN that were left behind (AFAIK) along this long road.

P.S.: And, btw, it was NOT his first cycle... but his second one... In the first one he ALSO sold it all to buy some stuff he wanted (an Ipad among other things) and he was always saying this time he wasn't gonna make the same mistake. He did. I guess some lesson can be extracted by this sad story and at least something positive learned from it.

Speaking of which, how is MindRust holding up? Anyone need to check in on him?

HODLing up??

How dare you?!?! lol

I wish he is doing fine though.

P.S.: And, jokes aside, I really mean it... We all make mistakes, otherwise all of us would be multi-BILLIONAIRES already... just with a dozen of consecutive "perfect" trades.

P.S.2.: Well, not ALL of us, or the sum of everyone's net worth would exceed current market cap.... but you know what I mean... Geeesh... it was just a joke.... ehmmm, let's just leave mindrust alone! FFS!
