Or you could just buy stuff.

He probably didn't know what double spend was so they came up with the counterfeit word to explain it.

What exactly does it mean for a payment transfer service like WU to "accept" bitcoins? Are they going to be just another exchanger, but a uber big one? yep, that seems to be what is happening. Dude, LOOOL. Why oh why won't that $10k wire to MTGOX arrive already.

To be fair its not like you can randomly expect me to trust bitcoin instantly even if I do know a bit about computers, simply because its so complex. I don't find fault with the guy's IT department. However, to then indicate that they are some sort of an uber-good source that proves that BTC is broken or something is retarded.

If I had a ton of money, I'd just pick some value (like $100.01 USD) and just buy as many bitcoins as I can at that price during a "crash." Not only would I get a ton of bitcoins slightly cheaper than they are currently, but I'd also potentially cause price stability (if I had enough money) causing bitcoins to be more trusted, thus potentially more widely accepted in the future, thus more money for me because I just bought a ton of bitcoins at $100.01 USD.
TBH I'm surprised there isn't at least 1 exchanger already doin this.

My favorite part was the bit about "counterfeit Bitcoins." Thats the equivalent of trying to make counterfeit equations or something.
The expensify guy just had this face like WTF.

Who in their right mind spends money that will buy more tomorrow than it does today.
Because people want stuff today, not tomorrow? Have you ever bought a piece of technology, like, ever?

Is there any way of designing a web wallet such that it can get registered with the browser to open bitcoin: links, through javascript or the like? Also I have noticed the following problem: When entering something like mailto:me@bitcointalk.org directly into my chrome URL bar, it will open my mail app directly (in my case, windows mail). However, if I enter in bitcoin:139FySgAEA4pxNMsVivdvpXM7SRDrw3qmv directly into my URL bar, this won't happen. It only will open my bitcoin address when I click a <a href=" bitcoin:139FySgAEA4pxNMsVivdvpXM7SRDrw3qmv"> link. Note this isn't true for IE.

I said it before I'm gonna say it again: Just wire the money to MTGOX or the like. Its expensive, but OK once you consider that all your future transactions will be practically free once you switch to BTC.

Forgive me if I am being dumb, but why can't you just wire the money to MTGOX's Japan-Based bank even if their Barclays one was closed? You can do that, it's just slow and expen$ive. Since when was anything related to banksters not slow and expen$ive?

I think that $1000 is a reasonable estimate, though probably slightly lower as it would be a huge psychological barrier to break to go over the $1000 mark. Probably $900-ish. I think that its likely that some small nation(s) would simply start accepting bitcoins as much as their own national currency in a couple of years, and just this small amount of adoption could drive up the price hugely. I can easily see some country that is currently in dire financial straights going "hey, lets copy Cayman Islands, only lets do it in Bitcoin, for style points." It just takes one country like that to crop up, or one rich guy deciding that he doesn't want his money taken by the EU and setting a trend, to cause the price to skyrocket.

If nothing else, the fed's reaction to Bitcoin going 'mainstream' would have good entertainment value

I don't operate a business, however I live in California and would be glad to support this in whatever way possible.

Its amazing how entirely ignorant they are of how Bitcoin actually works.

No. It simply imports the other address as if it had been part of your wallet all along.
