Regarding Zerovert:

Poramin from Slack:

when I released zerovert, at that time, we didn't have investor backup, so only our choice is closed source to make sure no other competitors at that time copy our code and create new coin. as a result, in cryptocurrency world, no one want to take close source software serious as you know. It doesn't go well, and we cannot publish the code either. another reason is the name zerovert, when I decided to use that name because I want the zerovert becomes part of Vertcoin's ecosystem. Turned out the Vert community itself, also doesn't buy that idea. last but not least, we found huge perfomance issue in zerovert for using zerocoin, if you think ZCoin slows during verify zerocoin spen transaction, zerovert event worse. That all the reasons, why we don't pursue zerovert, and looked for investor so we can opensource and use new name doesn't tight to any coins, and fixed performance problem.
PS: Someone said we dump our coin in exchanges, this is FUD, we are pretty sure that if you look at blockchain explorer at that time, we didn't event send that coins to exchange, and didn't sell to anyone, the amount is the same, we spent some to giveaway and translation, which is only small proportion.

is this just a clone of zcash or a new thing? also is the anonymous part more strong than zcash or just the same? and anyway what's the point of this if zcash is coming?

This is very similar, and yet also very different from Zcash. Please see here for more details: https://zcoin.io/zcoin-and-zcash/

FAQ

What is the distribution for Firo?

There will be 21.4 million FIROs. Firo follows the same halving cycle as Bitcoin (every 4 years).

The current block reward of 12.5 FIRO/block is divided as follows:
  • Miners (50%, 6.25 FIRO)
  • Masternodes (35%, 4.375 FIRO )
  • Development Fund (15%, 1.875 FIRO)

What will Firo's Development Reward be used for?

15% of Firo’s block reward goes towards a development fund to fund development work and other efforts in promoting Firo’s adoption.

The fund pays primarily for coder and researcher salaries, community managers, translation work, audits, bug bounties, integration costs and infrastructure overheads.

We are always actively looking for talent so please do reach out over e-mail or our Discord!

How does Firo differ from the other privacy coins?
