1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - next generation platform, Secured by Bitcoin on: August 01, 2019, 04:09:43 PM
Binance has started staking rewards for KMD,what is better,to keep Kmd in wallet or on Binance?
Keeping on Binance has advantage like you can trade instantly(When price spikes) and don't have to do anything to get interest. Keeping in wallet doesn't have that instant trading benefit as it requires 120 confirmations, There are advantages and disadvantages to both. I'd like to keep mine in hardware wallet and claim monthly interest.

Yes if you are holding to many, hardware wallet is a good choice but for someone like me who has small amount, keeping on binance is good option

Keeping in Binance exchange is a very good option but i think they will give a small percentage to stakeholders, whereas if you hold the coin in the KMD wallet you might get higher reward compared to Binance staking.
Agree, holding in your own wallet is better, because people withdraw all the time on exchange, so some of the UTXOs in exchange wallet won't have enough time to generate reward resulting in lower than 5.1% APR.

afaik PIRATE community is running for 2 NN, and kmdlabs testnet project is running for another NN, and I'd be very surprised if all those 3 didn't win a spot. There might be other community based projects running also, I think we'll see all the candidates posting proposals this coming week. Should be very interesting!

I remember the first election when there were less than 64 candidates, and badass hired himself out to manage 6-8 NN's for other guys, how times have changed!

I'm going to give my VOTE to PIRATE and kmdlabs
I agree, we should vote for NN with long term vision. Not vote because there is a measly reward sharing to voters which doesn't improve KMD ecosystem much as a whole. Long term vision will improve value and adoption eventually price, compare to measly sharing reward which doesn't amount to much without increase value, and adoption.

For anyone using the KomodoOceanqt on windows can you confirm the safest place to download?  I was going to use the agama but am more comfortable using qt wallet.  Thanks

Edit: and how do you claim interest through the qt wallet?
You can download wallet from https://komodoplatform.com/komodo-wallets/
You can claim the reward by sending the whole balance to yourself.

How often I can claim my 5%/year from Ledger ? I know its once on month but its matter which day I made it or its not important ?
I mean if I claim my dpow reward 26 february its count as all february claim and I can take my next reward even 1 March and no need more in March or after take coins 26 february next time I need take after 26 march so after one month later ?? I dont want lose any coins when finally its possible take this 5% directly from ledger ! I want take all.
If you claim it on 26 february, you then add 30 days to it. So your next monthly deadline will be 28 March.

what happen if I make it few days to early or few days later ??

i asked this question a couple different ways and was mainly interested in how the time stamp affects compounding interest and what if I add new coins to the pot in the interim and so on. I got some answers that I didn't quite understand but there's some algorithm that maxes you out at 5.1% APR even if you claim interest every 10.1 kmd, like I do. So timing doesn't matter really. I have mine in Agama wallet so claim every 10-15 days bc that's when the interest = 10+ KMD.
If you have 1000 KMD for 15 days then you buy 100 kmd new coin. The 1000 KMD UTXO will already have 15 days worth interest accruing while the 100 KMD still have 30 days.
If you wait for 30 days after this, 1000 KMD UTXO will stop accruing after another 15 days ( because 15 days + 15 days = 30 days) ,
while 100 KMD UTXO will still accruing interest for another 15 days.
But when you click claim button, it will claim both the 1000 KMD UTXO and 100 KMD UTXO at the same time. Essentially resetting the time count to 0 for both UTXO sizes.
The reward will max at 5.1% Annual rate for each UTXO size.

Reward will start accruing only if the UTXO size is 10 KMD minimum. So if you buy 9 kmd from exchange and send it to wallet that already have 10 KMD.
You will have 9 KMD UTXO size and 10 KMD UTXO size in the wallet. The 9 KMD utxo size will not be accruing reward but the 10 KMD UTXO size will.
To rectify this issue, You can send the whole balance to yourself, essentially creating a 19 KMD UTXO size.
Hope this explains it better.

Is there a reason why on Cryptopia and other exchanges deposits and withdrawals are not possible because of a Maintainance (on request of the devs)? Waiting since Sunday to be able to use these features but I can't find any information if there are problems in the network. Does anyone have more information?
They are probably upgrading the wallet to prepare for the upcoming planned hardfork.

Is there any information until when the upgrade will be conducted? I still can't deposit or withdraw on both exchanges I am signed up that list Komodo. I couldn't find any official info from Komodo with dates regarding completion of the upgrade :/
here is the article https://komodoplatform.com/upgrade-guide-dec-15/

If you are not a tech geek and drink the kmd kool-aid, move on from this project because the people that sit behind a keyboard with warrior fingers will make you feel like a fool. no wonder real money is going into other projects.

hey komodo, you better get some good social skills or be left behind because people don't care about basement dwellers that play on computers.

I am not obligated to reply to all your questions especially with that tone of voice. I drank the cool aid and swam in it , it was so refreshing and will do it all over again. Cheesy If you do your homework , you can find all the answers in this thread. Anyway, do what you want, I 'll do what i want , don't like wasting my time on an ignorant fool that think he is smarter than everybody lol.

[size=18pt]they swapped out bitcoindark for free kmd that they were hording and filled their bags with free kmd. they knew about this before they mentioned it to the public and by that time, they held the most kmd for free.[/size]
The heck are you talking about? Are you high? read the second post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605144.msg16115491#msg16115491 and educate yourself, please, don't be an ignorant fool. If you don't like the project, sell your holdings and buy something else. But don't spread false information.

the KMD translation is long, the block time is 60 seconds, the ETH is 14.  New technology, vulnerabilities can be opened, but the ETH was time-tested . KMD is no application in practice, but the ETH is widely used. To protect against the attack of 51 Komodo uses bitcoin blockchain, but ETH is independent of bitcoin and has good own protection. To protect the KMD private key from the network, you need to enter a complex command in manual mode, but the ether has a convenient myetherwallet shell in offline mode
"the KMD translation is long, the block time is 60 seconds, the ETH is 14." This is hardly an issue. I have used ETH and 14 is not always true , I have sent ETH in the past which took 1 - 2 days because of one crypto kitties dapp

"New technology, vulnerabilities can be opened, but the ETH was time-tested" - ETH has proven that one crypto kitties can jeopardize its whole network Cheesy Yahoo was time tested and new GOOGLE search engine beat it , horse buggy was time tested and new car technology beat it. So you are saying ETH is old technology? I agree Cheesy

"KMD is no application in practice, but the ETH is widely used." KMD helps protecting projects from 51% attack by it's dPOW technology. KMD has more than 30 projects building on it's platform ecosystem.  The latest is marmara credit which plan to tackle the 200billion usd post-dated cheque market in Turkey region of Marmara. And more projects are coming along or in the pipeline.

"To protect against the attack of 51 Komodo uses bitcoin blockchain, but ETH is independent of bitcoin and has good own protection." KMD is protected against 51% with it's own network because notary nodes always own 75% hash of network, but notarizing to BTC network provide second layer of protection.

"To protect the KMD private key from the network, you need to enter a complex command in manual mode, but the ether has a convenient myetherwallet shell in offline mode" No complex command needed, my grandma know how to use agama wallet Cheesy and about online hosted myetherwallet read this article https://cointelegraph.com/news/myetherwallet-warns-that-a-couple-of-its-dns-servers-have-been-hacked Cheesy

With btc there is no question or discussion if x person have keys to print free btc's. A 51% attack is needed for creating more btc's.

China may an attack 51% on the bitcoin, so the ETH is better
ETH doesn't need attacker, it's users can attack itself, cryptokitties is doing a great job at attacking, more dapps will be attacking soon Cheesy

Its your Choice to invest in a project where human trust is needed. I can also put my money on a bank. Instead of investing in blockchain.

With btc there is no question or discussion if x person have keys to print free btc's. A 51% attack is needed for creating more btc's.

Its not possible for digital money to become global money   if its not 100% trustless.

Why should the mayority choose trusted digital money if there are other better trustless solutions out there.
Sorry bud, but it's already global , there are buyers from Russia, South Korea, India, Indonesia, China , European countries , African countries , etc , more to come. You have to always trust in human bud, even in bitcoin, trust that there will always be human who will deem it valuable.

Hi

I am looking for new Agama wallet.
And I see here https://github.com/KomodoPlatform/Agama/releases - 0.2.42c version, but on website https://komodoplatform.com/komodo-wallets/ version is 0.2.41d.

Which version is actual?

0.2.42c is the latest. The one on komodoplatform.com will be updated soon by the team.

can anyone provide an update on the 'SUPERNET' asset?  No trade activity in a while... it's been sort of a big pain with the migration from the NXT platform over to the Komodo platform... does it have any value?  Will it?  How does the transition from BarterDEX to the new DEX thinger affect it?

it is difficult to trade with this asset, it is only exchanged with the decentralized exchanges barterdex and instantdex, it is a great fund of all the assets of the komodo platform and some of the currencies linked to the project
The assets are very limited in quantity and probably most investors don't want to sell it. But You can always ask in discord https://discord.gg/WncyRCn
and might get lucky.
